After years of dental experiences it is both a relief and a blessing to say this office has not forgotten how to make patients feel like people. They don't rush they relax you. They don't talk At you they discuss With you to make sure you understand. I would give negative stars if possible, this is a long one but worth the read. This used to be my husbands family dentist. He was experiencing some severe tooth pain and needed to get in quick so he went here after a couple years of not being seen. He was given an exam and told he needed a root canal at an outside facility and then he needed a second tooth prepped by Columbia smiles and crowns for both teeth. I was confused about initial info given to him so the dentist called and provided clarity which I did appreciate. We paid them almost $2000 up front and then separately paid another place for a root canal that he got within the same week. He went back to Columbia smiles for prep on the second tooth and molds for the crowns. He was scheduled over a month out to get the crowns placed, this is soonest they had for him. He had to be seen in between because the temps were bothering him, that was a 3 hour appt to "fix" them and more tooth prep was done. He then went in to get the crowns placed (now his 4th time being seen) and was told by the dentist they were the wrong color and didn't fit because he (my husband) waited too long. He came as soon as they had openings? He was told he'd have to come back another month later to get crowns. Needless to say we were frustrated. He went back to the appointment and was told actually this would not be the day for crowns this would be more tooth prep and now gum prep. He let them proceed and I called them to gain clarity on why all this prep was necessary and find out if the next appointment would be the crown placement and done. He had missed 6 days of work at this point as every appointment took 2 plus hours and we're not at convenient times. I also had questions regarding another bill we received and the office lady was extremely unprofessional and rude and told me he had only been seen twice per their notes and also told me because he was using his mom's insurance I had no business asking and she'd only talk to him even if he gave consent which is a HIPPA violation. The dentist himself then called me and explained to me why he had been in 5 times and blamed my husband for having terrible gums and bad teeth which he was never told at his initial exam. The dentist proceeded to give me all my husbands information and THEN asked me if there was even consent on file to talk to me, well idk bud but you better hope so because that is another huge HIPPA violation. He got his crown finally and we informed the office we would not be returning as we were unhappy with their communication and not having services done in a timely matter. His mom also submitted a complaint since the office lady was so obsessed with it being her insurance and told them she would no longer bring her daughter there either due to them being so rude to her son and his wife They then sent a letter almost a month later telling us we were not welcome to return and listed they referred us to another outside place we never went to (not true) and that they were unhappy with communication from his family. Needless to say this place is extremely unprofessional, cannot complete services in a timely matter and the office lady is a terrible human. When Michael Koceja has his practice in this location, it was well ran, had a positive and friendly staff, scheduling and billing were accurate and communicated, and services were performed with talent and precision. I switched Dental offices today after giving Columbia Smiles a chance from the transition after Michael. I should have seen the flags- Scheduling was incorrect and constantly rescheduled. The Dentist and the admin staff do not seem to agree on scheduling timelines and allotments and unfortunately this burden falls to the client. The Dentist has changed a few times, the last was open about her frustrations with scheduling. My best friend that uses them as well had to return 3 times to have a filling adjusted and still is not doing well (she has also been rescheduled or improperly scheduled multiple times). Their billing is inexcusably delayed. I had a crown completed summer of last year (I believe it was June/July). I paid the upfront amount communicated and waited to have insurance processed to see if I owed more. I called today (April- close to a year after procedure) to inform them I was changing dental offices at which point she told me I had an outstanding balance that needed to be paid from my crown. My address has not changed, they have not sent anything out. I have seen them 3 times since this procedure for cleanings and an adjustment to the crown, at no point during the check in or check out process had they informed me I had a balance. I started asking questions- when did you send the claim to my insurance? How long ago do you receive the response of coverage from my insurance? Do you have record of sending me billings? Once I asked these questions they decided to offer me a "courtesy" of waiving the finance charges that have been accruing. I am not disputing the balance I am disputing the dishonest practice. Had I not been changing offices due to my other frustrations, I would not have known there was a bill racking up finance charges. I know there can be growing pains in a switch, but am appalled by the change in ethics. They lost a 5+ year client today. read more

Do not go to this dental office. High turnover, terrible workmanship, they don't stand behind their work. Put a crown in my mouth that lasted 5 years and needs to be replaced. While taking a temporary off they almost pulled my entire tooth out. They put a filling in that fell out in less than 2 years. Just because they take my insurance is not a good reason to keep going here. I've had a lot of dental work in my life. I'm used to everything. But these people only made things worse. I wouldn't advise my worst enemy go to Columbia Smiles Dental. You can't fix stupid. I'd be stupid to go back. I'm paying cash for good dental work now. It will save me in the long run. I like how I could get an appointment quickly, the office is very COVID safe, checking your temperature at the door, having you wait in the parking lot and call in when arrived. I've been going to Dr Koceja for a few years now and I love how gentle, kind and patient he is with me. I am not a fan of dental work and have a small mouth, so it's always hard to work on me. I had a swollen gum on one of my teeth and went to see Columbia Smiles Dental. I was told I needed a root canal and crown, they also told me the crown would probably break so I should get an implant! Was not happy with the diagnosis, so I went to a second opinion. The new dentist found that I just had some food debris behind my tooth and now I am fine. Very disappointed that I was pushed to an unnecessary dental procedure at a high cost! Would not recommend Columbia Smiles Dental to anybody. read more

Not a fan of this place. Sure, the people seem nice, the place is clean, and they do good dental work. But there's more to it than that. The first time I took my daughter there, she was getting a tooth extracted. She was scared and nervous. Dr Koceja didn't help when he got angry and said "she stops making those (scared whimper) noises or I'm not doing it". I thought ok...maybe an off day. The next time we went back, he was decent, but I could tell it was forced. To top that off, I had cancel one of our appointments the day before due to a family emergency. My ex-father-in-law was literally given days due to his cancer. We flew out of state so my daughter could see him one last time. I was charged a $50 late fee because I "didn't cancel 48 hours in advance". Even explaining the situation, their answer was "if we give you a break, then we have to do the same for everyone. Sorry". Too many bad experiences to be a coincidence to me. We have since changed dentists and are much happier. read more

One of the best dental offices I have ever been to! The office is very neat and clean, the staff is so friendly and polite. I waited only about 10 min, and that was because I had to fill out paperwork. The dentist did a full exam and even cleaned my teeth!
