I cannot believe all of the low reviews. This place is awesome. Some stuff has great prices, some has normal prices. People are helpful and friendly. It's not showy but it serves it's purpose. The stairs to get up there are a bit brutal but we crafter's need that exercise. Holy bundles of fabric, Batman! Seriously. Lots and lots of fabric. Weird ones too -- fake alligator skin? They got it. Faux furs of every color? Yup. Sequined vinyl? Check. Prints that dazzle and possibly confuse? You betcha. This is ~the~ place to go for some decently priced fabric choices. However -- craft area is lacking. I was sad with the limited ribbon and fringe supply, the lack of fabric flowers, and general crafty sort of supplies. Patterns for the express use of your fabric purchases are even hard to come by. Was I expecting something more on par w/Michael? Maybe -- but "Crafts" IS in their name ya know. I was left to my own devices while wandering the store -- which was fine. I don't like a hard sale, but when needing to ask if they had such-and-such item it was strange that there was no-one on the floor and I had to trek to the duo of elderly women working the cash registers. They rung me up efficiently and sent me on my way. I'll be back with specific patterns and ideas in hand -- but you really need to know what you are looking for beforehand when coming here. read more

Holy Smokes. Let me tell you that the sweet little ladies that work here are so helpful and really know there stuff. I have to admit, I know nothing about crafts or fabrics, but the staff here rallied around me to answer all of my rookie questions and make sure I knew all my options. The store is HUGE, and the selection seemed endless. And the few items I had been shopping for elsewhere (Amazon and JoAnnes) were significantly less expensive here. I noticed this outlet store last time I was in SODO so I was very excited to try it out. I was looking for thick fabric to use as backdrop and was happy when I found canvas fabric in this location. First off, the fabric was not that cheap, I kept expecting them to say that we would get X% off of the sticker price, but that never happened. Secondly, the woman helping us could not have cared less about her job. She didn't ask us if she could help us, when I told her how many yards we wanted, she didn't respond and just cut in silence. The only time she made a noise was when she sighed out loud to let us know how much we were disturbing her. So disappointing. read more

Just because it is a store outlet does not mean it is cheap, just means that they have a LOT of choices. That's why I like Pacific Fabrics. The selection is pretty insane. Tip: check out remnants for bargains. I think this place is best for people who know what they want, and don't need a bunch of hand holding. Cause you ain't gonna get it there. All these women are "lifers" and just like government bureaucrats, know they are untouchable. EXCEPTION: there are a couple of spry young punky-crafty girls that work there & are eager to help, and get this....make eye contact! If you are willing to put in the time (30-45min), you can walk away with some great stuff.....and if you really take your time (1hr +), you may even discover a bargain or two....I always do. While on the hunt for some fabric, yarn and notions, I came across Pacific Fabrics and Crafts in the Chinook Book, and love to support local businesses. This location is in the Georgetown SoDo area of town, and you can definitely feel that vibe when you arrive. The building is pretty nondescript, the parking lot is small and a little worse for ware, and the signs are easy to miss, so make sure you keep your eyes open when coming here for the first time! The selection was vast, but not overwhelming. It was pretty tightly packed in there, but their variety didn't knock my socks off - both with their fabrics as well as their yarns. The prices were alright. On par with some of the big box stores, but without the massive coupons that they distribute like confetti on New Years. The whole store felt a little run-down and dusty. Some of the fabrics on the left side of the store were a little musty and reminded me of someone's scattered attic. I had a pretty mediocre service experience. We were asking about some weaving supplies, and the woman told us to go to Weaving Works. The woman was polite, yet really gruff, loud and a little curt. I think it was her tough delivery that made it come across as slightly rude, while she was still being helpful. I'll be back, and soon - especially since I can not find Neoprene in Seattle! But because of their location and their selection, this will probably not be my go-to fabric store anytime soon. read more

This place makes me wish I knew how to sew! I recently stopped by to get some fabric for some custom curtains my mom is going to make me and found exactly what I needed. The ladies here are very helpful and knowledgeable. Obviously from my first sentence of this review, you know I'm not someone who goes to fabric stores frequently or who would know much about them. However, I was able to get all the fabric I needed to make curtains for my 2 huge windows for $50. That's a lot better than paying $258 for curtains for one window had I decided to go through someone else to make them for me. Not too sure when I'll be back, but I would definitely recommend checking them out if I were you. They have tons of different patterns and designs. Everything from regular ol' cotton to fuzzy furry disco fabrics. read more

I signed up for a 2-day tailoring class at their downtown store over a month before the class started. I spent the time to chase down the 2 page list of supplies etc. for the class and prepared my fabric, etc. in anticipation of class. I showed up for class on the first day, and after waiting for over a half an hour, I was told that there would be no class! They gave me no notice that the class had been cancelled, even though they had my email address and phone number. Lesson Learned: Don't take classes from them - they have no respect for other people's time - they're flakes! read more

I like this store, not so much for the fabric selection, but because of the ambiance. It's one of the few retail stores in the SODO neighborhood that hasn't been gentrified. The uneven floors creak because they're 100+ years old and made from old growth timbers. Having said that, I always find fabric there for whatever project I'm working on. read more

I live out of state and have visited this store many times. I recently took a friend and while we both had fabric cut it was absolutely astonishing what poor customer service we received ( employee trying to rip fabric that needed to be cut) and then "arguing" about 15% TOTAL PURCHASE means - apparently sale items are excluded . We asked for a managers - and the two managers were both rude! If the employees are not changed in this store - I won't be back - it was appalling - and I am NOT a demanding person. read more

Beware! It's hard to find. I didn't spot the sign at all, but it's housed in the same building as Pacific Iron, just with its entrance tucked on the right side, behind the gas station and across the street from the KFC/ Taco Bell. As for clothing fabric, the walls are filled with eekishly colorful prints of grandma's favorite quilting variety (mint colored kitty cat cartoon print, anyone?), plus a whole lot of other stuff. There is a field of remnant bargain tables to choose from, which a mere 2 piles designated for linens. Be prepared to dig a little if that's what your into. I definitely came in there looking like I had no idea what I was doing and the staff were, as others have said, standoffish and not really willing to help too much. I had to ask a couple times to get where I was going. I was looking for organic fabrics- anything- canvas, wool, silk, linen. All they had were some about 8 almost bare rolls of various colored canvas by Oasis Organics- thin loosely woven sheeting, made in India, of dubious quality. They're just your average grandma's huge chain Fabric store with notions, an aisle of ribbons, books, and in this particular location, a ton of discounted fabrics. Not much in the way of upscale fabrics, I don't know if there was a silk in sight, all the buttons were plastic. They don't sell sewing machines. They do have a table area in the corner of the store that looks like it could fit 10-20 people where they reportedly hold classes. read more

This fabric store is on the second floor of a warehouse, and is big and drafty. It's an outlet, so there isn't a lot of any particular thing, and I wouldn't count on anything being there a second time around. It is huge, however, and filled with amazing fabric, and great prices. There are tables of flat folds, and half the store devoted to upholstery fabrics. They had a great price on trims, as well. They have more than enough notions to to fit any project. The staff was very nice. They fetched me patterns, and answered my questions. One gal even came out and helped me find the sewing machine needles I needed. read more

Despite all of the other reviews, I found the staff to be VERY helpful, attentive, and even entertaining! This specifically includes some of the women that other reviews pointed out as being rude. Perhaps they have been reading their reviews? I've been back 2-3 times in the last week and have had a pleasant experience every time. Price-wise, they aren't that much cheaper than chain fabric stores. However, I've found the quality and selection to be better. The only reason that I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is that given the name "OUTLET", I was hoping for lower prices. That's not to say that you can't find some amazing deals here; I was just hoping to find more. All in all, this will be one of the first places I stop when shopping for fabric. read more

Staff has always been friendly and helpful, although I bring a dog so I guess some would call that "cheating." Hey, I can't help it that everyone loves a lab. I agree with other reviewers that fabric here is either AWESOME, totally want it ALL - or meh, not really what I'm looking for today. I mainly have been shopping for "fashion" fabrics (linens and wools and silk chiffons) lately, so the faux fur doesn't interest me, although the have it in spades. Same thing with the cotton prints, which I imagine I'd be all over if I were a quilter. I have found a number of really great upholstry fabrics that I use for making throw pillow covers. Boyfriend has a rule, no more than 2 throw pillows in the entire house - so I have lots of covers to keep me from getting bored. I also love that they have felt by the yard, which is great for crafts and when you are making costumes and don't want to piece together 8.5x11 sheets. I come here a lot just because I love the convenience and prices are pretty reasonable, and I have a better shot of finding what I'm looking for here than at a specialty quilting shop like Stitches, but I am still looking for my fabric nirvana. read more

This was a good place to visit when fishing for ideas for upholstery and window treatment fabric. So I went, got my ideas, and now am checking out fabric.com and other resources because I was surprised at how high the prices were. I found a couple of gems for $10.99/yard, but most of the fabrics I really liked were $19.99-$49.99/yard. Hardly a cost-effective DIY project. The selection wasn't huge, but I was impressed that they had some more modern and graphic options than I'd expected. I was expecting to see a lot of grandma-y calico/stripe/kitten/cutesy upholstery fabric, but they had some decent options. Oh, and I didn't find the staff to be rude at all, just not very attentive. Once I did get some help, she was friendly and sliced off a free 1" sample for me. read more

Any excuse to visit SODO on a sunny weekend day... Plus, I personaly enjoy a bit of a treasure hunt. Thus, Pacific Fabrics is my go to place for fun sewing time necesities. Great place to find inspiration, as the stock always changes. I found some fabulous organic cotton, cheap off-season wool, a lustrous black denim, and a silk houndstooth I can't wait to find a project for. They give a student discount, and have just started a member rewards program. Be prepared to dig, and get ready to find gold. read more

Not friendly to shoppers who cannot climb up over two flights of stairs - and a sign informs you the elevator is only available M-F during the work day. I made the climb, bad knees and all, only to be disappointed. Compared to the (now closed) Northgate store, this location is poorly organized, not as clean or cared for, with staff who don't seem too worried about being friendly or helpful. Not an enjoyable experience, and won't be my first choice for fabric/yarn shopping. read more

The Store: The place looks a little old. The hard-wood floor is so old that it has some holes in it. I almost fell walking with my 2" heels when browsing around the store. The Products: PF&C has most of the stuff that I needed for my craft project, however since I'm not a frequent fabric buyer, I wouldn't know if the price is too expensive or not. However, I love that they have a lot of selections of fabrics more than other stores I've been. read more

I dont think ive ever seen this place so busy! I went after work to purchase 4 items, I knew what I wanted so therefore I needed 0 assistance. So I can't rate on that. Id say, I didn't expect to spend as much as I did for my few items but for convenience ill take it. The gal who checked me out was a younger gal. Great fabric store to wander around in. Lots of normal (and normally priced) fabric in the front, and in the back there are assorted bargain mounds that are ripe for hours of digging. Plus, you could make some sweet monster costumes out of the lush fuzzy home décor fabrics in the back, (No, but really - who's looking for fine shag neon green fabric for their home décor...? I'd like to see that home!!). Staff are friendly and willing to help. That said, they may not *all* be the most knowledgeable. I'm a bit of a newbie sewer, and went in this past weekend looking for "22-25 inch wide fusible interfacing." And I brought a fabric swatch for comparison to get the right weight. I came home with too-heavy non-fusible interfacing that cut me short in my Grainline Archer sewing mission. Disappointing. But I'll still go back. read more

I love PFC's other locations, especially Northgate. They have always been nothing but helpful and friendly and had a great selection. This location, though, might be closed. Paid for a bus all the way down to SODO in the pouring rain, walked several blocks, got there right in the middle of their posted hours . . . and they were closed. It wasn't a holiday, either. What a waste of two hours and a wet pair of socks. read more

Just the kind of fabric store I was looking for! Well organized with good selection. I think they could have a bit more fabric, compared to other similar fabric outlets I've been too, but it certainly wasn't overwhelming and cluttered... So give and take, you know? We found some fabric for pillows and I'm seeing them today! Also, the woman cutting our fabric was very nice, and concerned that the print wasn't on the fabric straight. I didn't care, but it was honest of her to point it out before she cut it for me. I'll go back! read more

This is my first stop when I have a new project. They have an excellent selection of fabrics, buttons, yarn and thread. Not to mention the countless other things the store contains. The store is very well organized and their sale items are in clearly marked areas for a quick sweep across incase anything inspires a quick project. My review is only for their cross stitch / embroidery offerings. I like that this place is close enough to my house that if I need a quick fix of DMC thread or an embroidery hoop I can pop in and grab it. But their section is small. Aida fabric options are limited too. I'd just rather go to Joanne's or Michael's if I need more variety and a little bit better price due to weekly coupons. read more

Outstanding service when I stopped in just before closing to buy a piece of foam to replace a chair cushion. A staff member volunteered to cut it for me to size and had a $400. Bosch cutter to do it with. She did an outstanding job after measuring and marking and saved me so much time. Way to go! read more

I came here for the first time for some specialty fabric for this costume I was putting together and holy buckets they delivered! The selection here is HUGE and though I ended up walking away with more than I intended to get, it was SO worth it. The staff here is great and the place has a bit of charm to it. Things to consider: check your bag at the counter when you get up the stairs & it's a bit hot on a warm day. I'll be back when I need more fabric for my next project. :) read more

The service seemed just fine to me, but I've only been there one time, so I can't weigh in fairly. I was ignored until I went up to the counter, but I don't mind being left alone to browse. When I asked a question, I was given a somewhat dour, but helpful answer. My only comment, however, is that when I asked about the products, I got a few "I think," and "Probably," responses. Considering how little -I- know about what I'm doing, I was hoping for a bit more insight... The fabric selection is awesome. Totally what I was looking for. I don't care much about crafty things - my main deal is fabric, fabric! - so I was totally satisfied. Found the gorgeous fabric I wanted and a few others I may have to return and fetch later. I could see how you'd be out of luck if you wanted something very specific, because the selection seems to be either On The Money, or completely Off The Mark. But considering how much they manage to fit into this space, it's definitely worth a look. read more

Customer service today was beyond exceptional. More than one of the friendly staff either helped us or offered to help. They were kind and sweet to my family and I (including my loud 2 year old). Great selection of fabric but its always the "thrill of the hunt" for that perfect item I love the most about this place. Parking is a dream, easy to spot, great customer service. read more

Good selection of fabric however I found the staff incredibly rude. I was actually moved to the side twice so they could put something back on the shelves without even so much as an excuse me, one of the women was actually yelling rudely to another employee across the store and this occured multiple times. The cashier was so slow it was like waiting on the second coming and rather than have staff who was milling around helping we were just left to wait. It was a complete turn off. I've gotten more into sewing over the past year and I still use this place as my main fabric store. the fabric prices aren't great, but they are average for a store. I prefer to buy most material online. I go here to get thread, notions, remnants, etc. and the ladies (and one guy) are always very nice and helpful. read more

I second Ashley B. on this one. Man was I disappointed. I have been to my fair share of fabric "outlets", and this was not at all what I expected. It was not very cheap, they had lots of "scraps" that were priced at typical off the bolt prices, and they had a large assortment of regular priced notions, tools, and supplies. I think they never got the memo that "outlet" usually means cheaper. I went with a few things on my list, which I figured would be a piece of cake to find - bulk buttons, bulk (or at least discounted) zippers, and remnants. I found none of the above. They have the most piddly remnant collection I have ever seen. So sad. I really wanted to like this place, but I was so disappointed. I too, will continue buying drapes and sheets from the thrift store to supply my fabric needs. read more

Found some great upholstery stuff there and was lucky to get it for the sale price... but the service is spotty and very unfriendly for a customer spending 400+ on one go. I found most fabrics overpriced for this over-sized creaky old warehouse. It is not at outlet pricing that is for sure. It will not be my "go to" place, only as a last resort. read more
