They have an amazing array of fasteners, it's true. Unfortunately they continue to employ extremely rude, entitled cavemen in their warehouse who always managed to treat you like they are doing you a favour and or are outright rude. Quite similar to the greasy thug bullies one would see in a 1950s spoof. One time I was there one of them was hiding in the stacks to avoid serving me. he would pop his head up occasionally to see if I was still there. After waiting 10 minutes, I had to go into the office and ask them for help. I don't go there very often, maybe once a year, but it has always been the same. ( I go prepared with a list of what I need so everything is clear. I never have along or involved list, just 2-3 items.) Last year I was there the same fellow called me cheap (because I had tried SS over bronze) in front of another customer and smirked nastily like he was being clever. So I asked him if he was this rude to all his customers or just me. He huffed and puffed and said "I'm not going to serve you" and stormed off like a 6 year old. I had to go into the office again and the manager took me outside, explained that I was completely right about the warehouse staff but that these guys had worked there forever and couldn't be fired and then gave me my fasteners for free despite my insisting to pay. This year I went straight to the office, where they asked me to explain why I wasn't going to the warehouse. I said well the guy was rude to me and , and I didn't want to deal with him, at which point one of the office staff said nastily said well maybe we don't want to deal with you! (???)Then the manager told me gruffly not to talk about it in front of the office staff (???) , got my fasteners and gave them to me again though I insisted on paying again. Went to home repo after and talked to a lady there and she said the warehouse staff were very rude to her and treated her (despite years in hardware) like she was dumb lady. Great selection of quality products let down by a couple of knuckle dragging thugs. When I go to buy something from a place. I just want to buy it. I don't want it served up( or nut) with sullen and outright rudeness, nor insulted to my face. I don't need grovelling servitude. just plain straight forward service. I ask for the part, the fellow gets it, I pay, out the door. Simple. No childish thug attitude. read more

This place can be a lifesaver. I've used them a few times over the years, but contrary to what they advertise, they don't have everything. Of course that's asking for the impossible, but just sayin'. Parking is available in a small tilted parking lot on the property, as well as along 1st Avenue. They are definitely big on the metric fasteners, and have many of the more obscure parts readily available. A sign says cash sales are $5 minimum, so be prepared to pay a premium. Hopefully you don't just need 1 fastener. Might as well get a bag of 20 for the same price, and keep a bunch of spares. With that said, the one time this place failed me - they don't carry e-clips (otherwise known as c-circlips or snap rings). I was getting a bit desperate after calling all these places around town, but nope, this place didn't have them either. Oh well, I tried. I'm not sure what the negative reviews to this place are about. I recently purchased some hard to find metal bed frame screws from here and left very happy. I was on the hunt for replacement screws for a large metal canopy bed I had, and Home Depot, Lowes & Rona had none. A friend recommended I go to a construction fastener supplier and recommended Pacific Fasteners, a 3 min drive from my North Burnaby apartment. Parking is street front, and the customer entrance brings you into a waiting area behind the counter in front of a huge warehouse. I encountered 5 people ahead of me, on a Friday close to Christmas, and I panicked. I didn't have much time but I was served in less than 5 minutes by 3 or 4 people working in this warehouse area. I handed the employee the screw and washer I needed, rolling my eyes and stating I could not find a matching screw/thread anywhere. He smiled and ran to the back to the enormous warehouse housing small bins of pretty much every fastening. 2 other employees came out while I waited, asking everyone waiting if they had been helped already. He quickly came back with a dozen of two screw types, with two different heads ~ 1 square head, 1 flat top style. The cost of 2 dozen quality, hand-selected screws? A mere $5 including tax. Far better-looking quality than the packaged set I got at Home Depot for $7.95 for half as many. I paid my order in cash and left extremely happy in less than 10 minutes. Sometimes I wonder if the people who complain about crappy service are actually the problem. I needed two kinds of quite particular screws and Home Depot failed me. A friend suggested looking for a fastener store. A what now?! This place is like time stood still. It's a massive warehouse with every imaginable (or so I assume) type of fastener you can get. They're all in cardboard boxes with types written outside in Sharpie. No computer systems required to track down what I needed. Amazing!! They were pleasant and speedy and if I ever need a fastener again I know where I'll be heading. read more

This place. If you can't figure out which screw or fastener you need, this place probably has it. All types of odd sized and shaped fasteners. Prepare for the $5 minimum so maybe buy a pack of screws if you only need one or two particular fasteners. But the counter staff here have always been friendly to me and they always help me find the weird sized or weird headed fasteners I usually need for projects. And generally, this place will be cheaper than the big box stores if you are comparing pricing per screw after the $5 threshold. Which kinda makes sense because why would you get up off your butt and help someone to find one screw and waste 5 minutes in the back looking for it to make $0.10? Don't get me wrong, sometimes they really have been nice enough to do that for me personally but that is an exception and not the rule. So I always make sure to look at grabbing some screws from their rack for $2-4 because the house rule is $5 minimum. Which is fine if you are looking for weird shaped and weird sized screws. read more

The one thing that bugs me about stores that close at 4:30 on a weekday are ones that say they close at 4:30 and then lock their doors at 4:20. I know it's hard to find a metric screw in this town, and Pacific Fasteners has handy selection, but be prepared. What normally should have been about $2.50 for a 15-pack at a hardware store cost me a buck a piece here. read more

These guys have metric screws. They are only barely in Burnaby, so it is not a big schlep to get there. They have a giant warehouse full of screws (and god knows what else) and you can call ahead and see if they have what you need, if you happen to know the name(s) of what you need. They go get whatever it is you need from the giant warehouse. You do not need to wander about in an anxious haze yourself. There was no eye-rolling at my cluelessness. They have helpful photographs glued to the counter. The guy was a real gentleman about pointing out I should get a few extra screws, just in case I dropped one and it rolled into the ninth dimension, never to be seen again. read more

I made two purchases in the amount of $27 and $154 respectively. The products were low in quality - very soft and so easy to strip the heads - screws. I cannot use them. So I returned both purchases and found out by surprise that there is a 20% restocking fee. I disputed about the 20% restocking fee. A salesman came out from the office and tried to charge me 25% but later adjusted to 20%. while I was disputing with him, there was a Chinese guy needing M8 or M10 or 3/8 with 80 mm. The guy who was helping him did not understand him so the Chinese guy asked me for help. While helping this guy to make purchase, the guy who help me gave me the attitude that he had other work to do. Not only he did not help with my problem, but also walked away from me and my return. Just over the weekend, I lost $30 for buying from Pacific Fasteners which is totally outrageous and unacceptable. Two invoices I had show no return policy and restocking fee charge for any returns. Totally dishonest and the worst company to do business with. I will not be doing business with them anymore. I learned my lesson. They are not only unappreciative of me helping the Chinese guy made purchases they also made a discriminating comment behind the back which I overhead, " it is time to lock up or close up the shop" implying too many immigrants and how Canada has closed up the door for immigrants from China. Best place to find nuts & bolts of all kinds even set screws. I use them for my Radio Control Airplane hobby and they always have the right parts with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Price is really good compared to HomeDepot. read more

This place has the widest selection of stainless screws. Prices are great, lets just compare I needed QTY 500 of wooden 8x3/4 they where 4 dollars per bag of 100. Home depot charges .32ct per screw and gives a discount of 15% if you buy more than QTY25. Pacific Fastners 20 dollars Home Depot 136 dollars, Reno box of 100 are 16 dollars equals 80 dollars. Definitely recommend Pacific Fasteners for price and selection. Yes they are a little grumpy however this is a pro place and not made to chitchat. read more

After he had finished yelling at a customer who had inadvertently wandered too far behind his counter, the salesperson took one look at the part I was trying to replace and barked "DON'T HAVE THAT!" and walked away. Always helpful when I've gone. Today I needed an M4 set screw for a remote lever on my mountain bike. Guy brought out 4, and said no charge! (they roll off the bench, never to be seen again.) Can't argue with that kind of service. Previously I needed some special hex head screws for a computer build, and they had exactly what I needed ... and which were not available anywhere else at the big box hardware stores. read more

I have been dealing with these guys for years now and have never had any issues. They are not the kind of place that has 3 of EVERYTHING, so if you are looking for some Lithuanian fastener that was made in 1907 they probably won't have it, but if you are looking for a really good selection of stainless fasteners then they are the guys to see. The sales guys have to deal with people all day that have no idea of what they need and that can be a little draining by the end of the day. Need a great source of stainless / brass hdwre - this is it / I have been getting the best service there for decades / Patient helpful staff , Ex. , I was restoring an old Harley , went in with like 30 baggies of every mix of bolt,nut,washer,locknut,size and shape of hardware that you can imagine - no prob " just leave em here - p/u tomorrow " - well they matched all the items and #s of each , all baggied up separately - you tell me , is that special service ? Anyone that has a clue knows that Stainless is not the same as hardened steel , if you go there and complain they have inferior product - its you that has an inferior knowledge of the important issues relating in the first place [ and it makes no difference what race you are , race has no borders when it relates to ignorance and bad attitude ] And p.s. big signs are posted about return policy as soon as you walk in , but ive exchanged a few things there with no issue [ I picked the wrong size or such ] I recommend this shop as THE BEST stop for stainless / brass at the best price in town - period . read more
