He was hilarious, full of fascinating stories, and somehow managed to make every bathroom stop feel like part of the adventure. The views were jaw-dropping: Diamond Head glowing in the morning sun, waves crashing at Halona Blowhole, and those movie-perfect cliffs near Kualoa Ranch. Dirk kept us entertained between stops with island legends, trivia, and a soundtrack that could make even a restroom break feel cinematic. Leonard's malasadas? Heavenly. Macadamia nut farm snacks? Dangerous in the best way. Tanaka's garlic shrimp? Worth every bite and every burp. Turtle Beach was the crown jewel--relaxing, peaceful, and filled with lazy sea turtles living their best lives. Dirk's timing was perfect, his humor was infectious, and his love for the island made every mile memorable. I laughed, I learned, I ate too much, and I never once regretted it. If you want a full day of Oahu beauty, good vibes, and an expert guide who'll keep you smiling and on schedule, this is the tour. Mahalo, Dirk, you're the real MVP of island adventures!

My head was spinning trying to plan something for our diverse group of young and old, and within 30 minutes Paula had our flights, cars, and accommodations booked. With her extensive knowledge base, she can do in 15 minutes what would have taken me weeks. She thinks of and handles all the details and is worth her weight in gold. Give this company a call if you're traveling to one of the islands. you'll be happy you did!

We worked with Travel to Paradise to plan our Honeymoon in Hawaii, and our planner was Meg. I infer…read morethat Meg runs the business. Initially Meg was very responsive, but it took quite some time, about a month, to get an itinerary from her, and that still required us to follow up several times. We had given her a week when we wanted to travel and specified that we were happy to leave a few days before or return a few days after that week, but the itinerary she gave was just for that week. Because of that, one of the resorts where we wanted to stay wasn't available, because it was booked that week and she didn't look at any dates before or after. She did provide us with options for resorts for the other part of our trip, which was helpful. Ultimately, I did the research on my own to find flights and an itinerary that allowed us to stay in the resort we wanted for part of the time, as well as one that she recommended for the other part. Meg was able to find us a slightly better option for flights, so ultimately we decided to continue working with Meg for the booking. Once we arrived, we had an incredible time. I give Meg credit for recommending the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki, because we really did enjoy it there and we got a great room. Our second resort, Aulani, was the one where I had found the availability. It was amazing, but again, that's the one we found on our own. On our last day, we learned that our flight was cancelled. I absolutely do not fault Meg for that. However, given that Meg had booked our flights, I was hoping she could try to help us find an alternative to get home. I called Meg on two different numbers and texted her, and I still have not heard back. I spent over two hours on my last day of my honeymoon arranging for an alternative flight, and Meg couldn't even respond with a text or call. I understand that she may not have been able to do anything different for our flight, but at the very least a returned phone call would have been appreciated. I was extremely disappointed. Ultimately, I really feel as though I could have put together a pretty similar trip without Meg. I wish we could recommend Travel to Paradise more, because Meg does seem like a genuinely nice person, but we were pretty disappointed with her overall.

I actually saved money by booking through them compared to online, because they fully explained the differences in tours/tiers and picked the cheapest ones that satisfied our criteria. It was clear that they knew what they were talking about. Ideally, you should call Shaka before you get to Hawaii and plan your vacation early... but we didn't. Luckily, we stopped by in person and Shaka Tours saved our vacation. They planned our whole itinerary, got us tickets to things that looked closed, and advised us against packages that we came in considering. It actually felt like a tourist stop itself, because they explained the local geography and customs using google maps and videos, and suggested can't-miss, free, no-reservation needed stuff like the Diamond Head Hike. They were easy to reach by text/call at any time, even when we woke up very early because we wanted to make the most of the day. The tours they did book for us were all great with friendly guides. I can't recommend them enough!

The two air conditioned rooms in which one can stay are attached to the home of the kindly proprietor, Jeanette, and encircle a jasmine-scented lanai and pool. Our conversation was very pleasant and I was very excited to be staying there. I offered to pay with a credit card right away, but I was told they do not accept those. I was beginning my work week at the time we spoke. Jeanette requested I mail a personal check. I sent the check in the mail about six days later from the mainland. I received a voicemail eleven days later saying my reservation had been cancelled because she had not received my deposit within ten days. Jeanette never said anything about a ten day limit. Also, I am not sure why she expects a ten day limit when people are likely sending checks from various places in the world. Although displeased with her level of service, I asked Jeanette to please wait on her decision, as I had already put the check in the mail almost five days earlier and we were really looking forward to our stay there. She said she would wait one day for the check to arrive. I thanked her for that and said I hoped the postal service would come through for me in time. I gently suggested she make it clear on the phone to her customers about the ten day rule when reservations are being made, to limit any confusion about that. She responded saying she would consider that for the future and to now consider my stay with them cancelled. I was so surprised at this! I made attempts to be peaceful with Jeanette and even told her I was sorry she felt upset, and I had no intentions of making her feel badly. I told her I was just suggesting it for the ease of things. It seemed Jeanette could not accept she had contributed confusion to the situation, let alone be told that by a customer. I was very docile and non-agressive with Jeanette throughout the whole phone conversation. It is a shame she is so limited with her communication skills and was so defensive. In the end, I think I am really glad we are not staying there. I'd rather find out about this sort of problem beforehand, especially a place as personal and intimate as a B & B! Let's hope she sends my check back! :P
