My lawn mower runs like new again. I've battled carb problems and finally gave up and took it to the professionals. Got it home today and mowed my very tall grass and was amazed; like a hot knife cutting through butter. They also sharpened the blade as part of the service and my 15 year old mower runs like new. BEST IN CLASS FOR SERVICE AND INTEGRITY I was fortunate to discover this business in 1995 when my favorite Aunt bought me a Husqvarna chain saw as an early Christmas present. This great product served me well for almost 15 years and was heavily used to cut trees and firewood on countless occasions. I replaced more chains than I care to remember, but it was always a great excuse to visit a shop that has demonstrated the highest level of integrity and provided service that would be hard to replicate, along with polished professional advice. Now I'm about to turn 65 and I've requested a new Husky for my birthday. Not only will it keep me young and active, but I'll have a renewed incentive to visit the finest shop in San Diego when I need an occasional tuneup, bar and chain oil, air filters, spark plugs, chains and the like. The real blessing for me was that my chain saw was sold and serviced by two fabulous individuals, Tim and Marti, whom I grew to respect and admire greatly over the years. I sensed from the outset that there could not have been more competent and knowledgeable professionals anywhere in San Diego County. Add to that the fact that clients of this family-owned business are treated like family and given every conceivable accommodation, purchase guidance, personal support and highly competitive pricing on all new products and spare parts. Who could ask for more? Had our backpack blowers serviced there recently that ended up costing $200 for one to be fixed which was just a pull string replacement and a quote of $180 to get the other one's carb replaced. Which we also had to wait for over a week to pick up. Told them when I brought them in what exactly was wrong with them, they decided to charge me an additional $40 for "diagnosis and looking up parts diagrams". They never contacted me to let me know what I would be agreeing to. They also never called to tell me when it was ready to be picked up. Then after the grievance about the bill they stuck their noses up at me. I will never go back there and I strongly urge you to stay clear of this shop. I put a $42.00 deposit down on an engine repair. I was not told it was not refundable. The tech called me and said parts were not available and that he would charge me the minumum 1/4 hour for $22.50. When I went in to pick up my machine and the rest of my deposit, the cashier man said they changed the rules and that he would not give me the rest of my deposit because they changed the rules. He said his boss wrote it on a sticky note that he had over the register and he showed me the note. They ripped me off. Do not use this company if you don't like dishonesty. read more

Took our high end lawnmower to have the oil changed and have it lubed.... that's all we asked them to do. The lawn mower was running fine when we took it in. We use it regularly. When we got it back the throttle was stuck I high mode. No way to change it. I called and asked them to pick it up and "fix" what they broke and they refused. Not only did they refuse to pick it up but wanted to charge me for the pick up and to fix the problem that they created. We won't be back. read more

Pacific Lawn Mower Works is one of my favorite local small businesses! It's no wonder they have been around as long as they have. Noah, his brother Kale, and their newest team member Connor are not only extremely knowledgeable of the small engines they service but are pretty easy on the eyes. Noah in particular I'm a real big hands guy. I don't know what it is about those things. Just look like they hold things real nice, secure. Like what my dads hands would probably look like if he was still around. Anyway, my truck recently broke its frame after some stock mobbin in the dez and they actually took it out of their own time to toss my truck on a fork lift and fix it up for me. The homeless situation in that area, if you really know it, is very difficult and I think that there are a lot of details that people don't understand if they don't have anything to lose. Excellent place. Top tier work, so good I'd probably top Noah if he'd let me just to feel those big hands on the back of my skull. read more

My Honda lawnmower has been here once before due to it not starting. Most things I can fix myself, including this mower, but after hitting a dead end these guys saved me. The mower worked for about 6 months after that until I blew a gasket. I knew what was wrong, and simply needed a part. After calling to inquire if they had the specific part, the guy that answered the phone (extremely knowledgable) took great time at explaining how to use 'form a gasket/liquid gasket' in order to create my missing part. He used great detail, and ran me through step by step on what to do. hopefully I won't have to come back here soon, but otherwise I would for sure recommend this place to a friend! read more

Although it's my first time here I'm positive I'll be back as this place will be my go to lawnmower & trimmer facility. From calling around and looking for a part (coil) for my Toro Mower I could not believe how difficult it was to call around and hear from the first 8 facilities "no, don't stock it but can order it". Why do these places even say they sell parts as anyone can go on line and order almost anything now and get free shipping. Got down the alphabet calling and then to "Pacific Lawn Mower Works" and was promptly spoken to by Stephen. Of course he needed my model number & engine code (and being retired from the auto business this was no surprise for me so I had it already) Stephen looked up the part and gave me a price & stated it was a genuine part from Tecumseh, so I stated I'd be right over for it. Walked in, was greeted and stated I just spoken to Stephen on the phone, it was him and he had the part already on the counter for me! Although the part was not exact, it aligned perfectly so all manufacturing reserves the right to make changes from time to time and Stephen even said if it doesn't work, bring it back in the box for a refund or replacment. Stephen even checked with another co worker who said the same thing. End of story now coming as I put my mower back together, primed the carburetor and it started first pull!! Happy guy and too bad we live in such a throw away society now as people just buy new things after not taking care of what they have. read more

Couldn't be worse! Do NOT bring anything here! These people are so unbelievably disorganized I have no idea how they have stayed in business this long! They rarely answer the phone and when they do, they can rarely figure what was brought in. The only bright spot about this place is that they are courteous. Incompetent, but courteous. I brought a chain saw that was only a year old to them because I couldn't get it started. They wanted $38 to take a look at it, a little high but they are in my neighborhood so I went there in an effort to support local small businesses. I let they guy know that I needed it ASAP b/c of City regulations to trim canyon trees by April 1st. He said they allow themselves 7 days for diagnosis and that they would call me. 7 days came and you guessed it, no call. So I called the next day and asked if it was done. They said they couldn't find it and would call back. You might have guessed, no call. When I called they said that I needed $180 dollars of work done to get it running again. I asked them for the break down and was informed that the carburetor needed rebuilt and the fuel line connected correctly. I left gas in it for about a month so I knew there might be problems. The chain wasn't all that expensive new so I wasn't going to pay replacement cost for a used item. I told them I would come pick it up and pay the diagnosis fee. When I got there I spoke to one of the guys and he let me know that the carb needed rebuilt because the injection needles were messed up. At this point I reconsidered and informed them that I wanted to have it fixed. I left there with new paperwork showing I agreed to have it fixed there. He told me it would be done in a week and that, once again, they would contact me. A week went by and nothing. Finally, out of desperation I had to hire someone to trim the trees (probably better for my own safety). Another week, nothing. I called and asked what the status was and they told me it wasn't there and that I had already picked it up. I told him, "no, you have it, I authorized the repairs." He checked again and sure enough, they had it..... tucked away somewhere and NO-ONE had even touched it! Bottom line is: DO NOT use these people for your chain saw! read more

Was charged $50 for labor to have two 8" tires tubed. Unbelievable. The inner tubes were $7 a piece which is fine. Total price to have an inner tube put in both tires was $70+!!!! What a joke. I could have bought brand new tires for that amount. I'll never go back. read more

I took in a Sears "Crapsman" mower to be repaired. One of the front drive assisted wheels broke off. We read the reviews and decided to take it to this company. I dropped it off, paid $37.50 deposit on a $125.00 estimate and they agreed to replace both front wheels and tune up the engine, and oil change. They called on the phone and said repairs would be an additional $30. beyond what we were quoted, but no explaination why the increase in price. We went back to pick up the mower a few days later When we asked why the increase, we were told they cannot estimate an exact price. That did not sit well at all. The attendant started the mower engine, then he shut it off. We got the mower home and started to mow. Our property is on a hillside and I busted my a$$ pushing that thing up hill. I checked it out and came to find, the front wheels were not engaging the sprocket for the drive assist. My wife called back and they said to bring the mower back and they would check it out. Wasting more time and gas for another trip, we took it back. Now, the kid at the front desk checked it over and said the transmission was broken and they wanted another $130. We asked why they had not checked to see if it was working after the wheels were put back on. His comment was, "Normally, they woud check that out and he could not explain why this was not done in our case. We took the mower and left paying $160.00 plus two trips. What a waste of time and money. Anyone want a cheap mower engine? I will not go back! We ended up buying a new mower and writing off the money we spent here as a hard lesson learned. I STRONGLY ADVISE TO TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, this is BS. read more

Took my old lawnmower in 6 mo. ago to get it fixed/running. They charged around $85, new filter, spark plug, rebuilt carb, new fuel lines. Last week it wouldn't keep running so I took it back and after taking filter and gas well determined that it was bad gas. They drained the tank, flushed the lines and adjusted everything while I waited and didn't charge anything. I'm sure the warranty was out on the original tune up but they did it for free with a smile. $85 was cheaper than a new mower! read more

I've been going to see the guys for years. I work just down the street and whenever I need anything mechanical fixed I drop it off and pick it up when it's done. They always seem busy with other jobs and customers but never take too long to fix anything or stop to help me grab something out of the back of my truck. Everyone there is really knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I just dropped a generator off the other day that needed a new pull start put on, it was fixed in just a couple days for a great price. I will say some times it might take a little longer then expected to get the work done but when you get it back it will be done right. Have an old (15 yrs) used Snapper push mower that wasn't running because I left it out in the rain - several times. The previous owner had it serviced at Pacific Lawn Mower Works so I took it there. Ended up needing a bit of work. When I picked it up and brought it home, it needed a few more tweaks to get it to really run. I brought it back and they went right to work getting it to run - no questions asked and no additional charges. They even made an additional repair at no charge. Mower now works great. They even sharpened the blade for free. Nice group of guys that genuinely seemed to want to get it right. Will definitely go back. read more

they lost my rototiller that was taken in for a rewind. It was 5HP and costs $600-$800 to replace. It was older but he offered me $100 for replacement. He refused to locate one or be any help..Tim's parting words were 'take me to court" I emailed him about a month before i went back in. Tim never returned email. Good customer service and they repaired my lawnmower within a week.

This is NOT a trust worthy company. I asked them to fix one thing on my lawn mower. They then called me and said that one more thing would need to be fixed to hey it running, so I said they could fix that too. Then I call them one month later to find out they had not fixed the things I asked for. I told them I needed it done as I am moving so they got it done by the next day. HOWEVER, instead of fixing those two things they replaced and "fixed" a ton of parts, making me pay $215! I told them that I was shocked that they did those things because I only asked for two things to be fixed, to which the associate responds "you asked me to get it running," which is something that I NEVER said. They completely ripped me off and went directly against what I asked for. I do not recommend taking your business here. read more

I dont remember the name of the man who gave me such incredible service the other day. Dark complexion and the inventory manager! He was absolutely amazing.. He reminded me of an inventory manager version of myself! He was full of smiles, and helpful beyond belief. I had an issue with my lawn mower. He was very concise with the price options and took my ideas for what was wrong into great consideration. I was afraid that I was going to pay $100 for a carb rebuild, but turns out a new spark plug fixed it right up! Now, Im no lawn mower expert, but its a great feeling that someone out there does that I can trust isnt trying to gouge me for money. I will definitely return for any and all of my lawn mowing needs! I had a very poor experience with this company, they had my chainsaw for 6 weeks, every time I called ( 4x) and they said they would call back with the reason why they never did. Very unorganized and unprofessional. I left the saw much cleaner with them than when I got it back. To there credit the saw did work fine. Re: estimate vs work being done; just over 3 weeks of waiting for my lawn mower to be repaired they could not deliver me a completion date. Excuses and more excuses. They could tell me any day now for 3 weeks. Finally I said, please have the work down by this date or I'll have to pick up the item. They said ok. Upon picking up my item they insisted on a charge of $37.50. My reply was "what for" (that was to go to the repair of the mowers price). You haven't held up to your part of the bargain. Round and round. I've been going there for a while, shame on me. Looks like I'll be going somewhere else. Makes sure when you take in an item, they can fix your problem in a certain amount of time. And they can't fix it that there's not charge to you.
