After some time the waitress came back and told me that the kitchen said that they were out of noodles. Not wanting anything else on the menu I voiced my opinion of an under stocked kitchen. Shortly later the waitress came back to the table and said that the kitchen cook had lied because HE didn't want to cook Udon soup and that the manager would be preparing my Udon. I am a manager myself, my employees DO NOT decide whether or not they will perform their duties. I am really disappointed in what has been one of my favorite restaurants. I recently tried this place with my husband. It had a nice atmosphere. We had sat at one of the smaller tables by the bar and when the waiter brought us our drinks he accidentally spilled one all over me. It was horrible but I was having a good day and didn't want it ruined so we just moved to another table. It wasn't too bad. First of all, they brought my son's cheeseburger at least 20 minutes before the rest of the meal. The caterpillar roll was bland and my sister ordered the beef medallions well done which were medium rare when we received them. They also forgot the carrots on her meal. By the time they corrected her meal, I finished mine. It took forever. The service was spotty. The manager seemed not to care about the entire ordeal. We did get a discount on that meal, but he noticed our drinks weren't charged. So I guess the joke was on us bc our "after complaint price" was more than the one before. Good but nothing extraordinary for me. Had takeout : the express chicken stir fry for lunch. Good price. The seemed a little disorganized, and they forgot to give me my soup. Pacific Rim is like everyplace else in Hobbs: it is a crapshoot as to what you will get. Sometimes you go and the food is wonderful and the service is spot on. Other times you go, and it is a completely different experience.I do love the crab Rangoon and the lettuce wraps. read more

Food was awesome!!! I had the Tilapia and shrimp, spouse had raspberry pork tenderloin and son had fried chicken tenderloin and housed fried rice to share. All the food was awesome The only negative is that their online menu does not have correct prices so a meal that by menu prices was about $50 ended up being almost $70. Was looking for a refreshing serving of sushi and made the mistake of trying a modified chef roll. Modified in the request that salmon replace the spicy crab and cucumber replace the avocado. The cream cheese and tempura fried green chilis would remain the same. The roll came out very dull and plain. There was salmon shavings on top and the cream cheese overwhelmed the green chilis and cucumbers. I guess that's what I get for making a special request. That was after I was informed they don't serve iced green tea...smh. The menu includes many "your way" selections. Apparently "your way" doesn't apply to sushi. In general, Pacific Rim is pretty good. On occasion we do get some dodgy service but never bad enough to stop us from going. I really love the build your own pasta and stir fry. The bar area is nice as well as their drink selection. I also like the low mein plate, however I am a little confused as to why it is low mein served with a side of rice, lol! Usually when it comes to noodles and rice, they are substitutes and not complements. The rice and noodles are both tasty, though, despite the confusing pairing. read more

What an absolute horrific dining experience. Ordered a dinner special that was comprised of jumbo pranz and filet mignon. Had a side salad before the entrees were served. The lettuce was wilted and brown and the dressing was clearly out of a bottle. Ordered my filet rare. So the food comes out and one of the pieces of shrimp was completely rotten, and almost liquefied. The smell was horrendous. My steak had no char on it whatsoever and it wasn't rare it was raw. Couldn't even cut it. It was wrapped in bacon and the bacon had zero crunch either. Service was super awkward and lame. What an absolute joke. Hobbs, has maybe four decent restaurants in which to choose from and this is one of them. It can best be described as "Asian Pacific Fusion Food", with a good variety of highly palatable dishes to suit every discerning taste-bud aficionado. I like their Stir Fry with shiitake mushrooms and pretty darn good sushi rolls. The ambiance is relevant and on Friday nights, live music, imagine "I only have eyes for you" country-fied. My boyfriend and I tried Pacific Rim today and we were not impressed. I'm assuming this is the high end status of restaurants in Hobbs. We ordered the pot stickers which tasted store bought. The hot sake was cold. We decided on two sushi rolls and the stir fry meal. As soon as I saw the sushi I was scared to try it as it was smothered in mayo sauce. I had my boyfriend try it and the rice looked mushy...he ended up spitting it out into the napkin. The stir fry plate was subpar and the temperature was lukewarm. The waitress brought out the sushi and stir fry out together which in my opinion shouldn't have been done that way. The manager did take the sushi off the bill and the staff clamied the sushi chef is the best in town which makes sense for Hobbs, NM. I'm giving 2 stars because our waitress was nice otherwise it would be one. Decided to try this place because a few people told us it was good. First off ordered hot sake. Waitress came back and said they didn't have the one I ordered. I ordered a different one. It came to the table cold. I asked to have it heated again. Came to the table lukewarm. On the third try it came hot. Ordered egg roll sample appetizer. They were overcooked and burnt in a few spots. They had no flavor, seemed like frozen eggrolls you buy at store. Absolutely no flavor. Wonton soup came with entree. My wontons were not cooked through. Broth was ok but how can you mess up broth. Ordered a scallop stir fry entree with classic brown sauce and noodles and choice of 5 veges. It was really bad. I mean atrocious bad. The scallops were rubbery and inedible. The noodles were not cooked through and the vegetables tasted like a tin can. Probably the worst Asian food I have ever had. Sorely disappointed and won't be back. I've eaten here with colleagues a few times during the last year, and we usually enjoyed the food. Soups, salads, fish plates, and vege dishes are 3-1/2 star quality, although sometimes come out overcooked. A number of entrees don't strike me as particularly Asian, which helps give the place broader appeal. Wait staff is spotty and inconsistent, which is normal in Hobbs. They sometimes forget about tables, orders can lag, and things like silverware and napkins don't always show up unless requested. One time, drink orders were not taken for over 15 minutes, which didn't go over well with our group who was thirsty and ready to pay up for alcohol. On one visit, a vegetarian meal order was bungled and the waitress was unsympathetic (about their mistake) and didn't really make it up to my buddy. Poor form. read more

I have only eaten there once, but we do group outings with my company, 12 to 15 folks. The service was extremely slow. We like visiting with everyone so no adverse excitement there. But when the food got there it was like yesterday's leftovers. I and my colleges were not impressed. We were very disappointed with the experience at this restaurant. The wait staff are mostly very young people who don't know what they're doing. I ordered a meal that is supposed to come with a side salad but I didn't think about it at the time so I didn't ask for the salad (which I shouldn't have to). I didn't get a salad & didn't realize it until I was home. The waitress should have asked if I wanted soup or salad. My husband ordered a side salad & got a bowl with mixed greens & dressing & that's it (no tomatoes, croutons or anything else)! The waiters were too busy to ask them about it so he just ate it. My husband ordered the Kobe burger which came without the pineapple it was supposed to have on it. By the time we were able to ask the waitress about it & he got the pineapple his burger was cold. Also, we waited about 30 min for our food to arrive. The desserts are nothing fancy by the way- very basic. Overall this restaurant is way over priced for what it is. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in hobbs. I love the Asian natcho appetizer. Sushi is amazing. My favorite is the spicy tuna role. Went for the 1st time on valentines day, they had roses on the table. I had just moved to the Hobbs area at the end of July, so I'm new here. Went to check out Pacific Rim since it was different then everything else in town. Sat down at the bar. No a single bartender acknowledged my existence for over 15 mins. Was greeted at the door, but once I sat down, it was like I was invisible. I tried to get the bartenders attention by waving my hand and speaking up vocally. I was ignored. There were at least 3 people behind the bar, and there were around 6-7 other patrons at the bar seeming to be enjoying their night. I wished I was one of them. I met a gentleman at Buffalo Wild Wings and he told me he had the same issue, except he sat down in the dining area, and 20 mins went by before someone came to his table. The service has always been horrendous here, but we keep returning for the food, but will not after tonight!! This is supposed to be a higher end restaurant, but the staff doesn't know simple etiquette like taking order/serving the lady first. One time the guy setting the tables picked up a fork off the floor and put it back on the table. Aside from all this, we still came to eat here for the food. The food has usually been fairly good until tonight. Sushi rice was old and too sticky, every piece of fish I had to cut off the blood line. My fiancée had the shrimp mango curry, there was almost no mango, was not good flavor, and still had tails on the shrimp. The miso soup and wonton soup were sub par. They were out of stock on one of the beers on the menu. When I was half way done with my meal, chop sticks in hand, the waitress asks if we want our ticket. My fiancée said no he would like to see a dessert menu. She returns with the menu, by this point we decided not to get dessert and asked for the manager. He comes to the table, and as I am speaking with him (was super young with super laid back attitude, and is probable reason why this place was a disaster at 6:30pm on a Saturday night) she has the audacity to run the credit card while he is trying to make amends for the errors through the night. We left and will not be back! This place needs an overhaul! read more

I've lived in Hobbs 3 months now and been to PR 2x. Both were fantastic experiences and my husband is in F&B so I'm a little spoiled. I had the create your own stir fry both times, the sauce was just right not overloaded, the temperature of the stir fry was perfect. The portion size for $12 was huge! I always bring at least 2 more meals worth home. Tonight my hubby had the raspberry chipolte pork loin and it was a super tender piece of meat with a great flavoring. Our server tonight was beyond excellent, he was very attentive and I am embarrassed to say that I didn't get his name. I think they name is misleading as they have expanded their menu and it's not necessarily Pacific Rim driven. They now have create your own pasta dishes as well as the sushi and such. 3 of us ate for $50 and that includes 4 beers. Tiffany C's review does not refer to Pacific Rim as they do not have any of the things she mentions. I believe she is talking about Ranchers which is another place in Hobbs I wouldn't go again if it was the last place to buy food in the world. Give Pacific Rim a try, they are worth it.
