    Chef Sushi Rolls
    April C.

Very good service, nicely decorated. Ordered their pineapple Paloma. I'm not into too sweet of a drink and this was it. Usually these are really refreshing but the pineapple made it really sweet. Order the hot and sour soup. Had great flavor with the little amount of spiciness and sourness but was not very warm. Calamari with the perfect amount of breading, cooked perfectly and not chewy. Great with the marinara dipping sauce. Spicy tuna roll was very good, very fresh with the right amount of kick. Green chili roll. I personally did not try it, I do not like cream cheese in my sushi roll but others at the table loved it. They stated this is the best roll on the menu ......... if you like cream cheese in your rolls. I ordered the panzit with chicken, it was very salty. If it had less salt I think this dish would have been very good. The noodles and chicken cooked perfectly. Sizzling beef & Shrimp - the beef and shrimp was cooked well but the house brown sauce had a very weird flavor. Hobbs is our hometown but we have lived in California and Las Vegas for a long time and this restaurant did not meet our expectations of Asian food.

    Their version of friend rice!

Pacific Rim: when you read the name you think "Oooo good seafood" NOOOO This is not what you get! It's more like Asian- Steak style with a sushi choice. Nothing really seafood about this place! My husband ordered the aged steak an it was literally cold when served to him! COLD! Who serves a cold steak! The service was amazing! The place is beautiful inside and clean. Drinks are good, food not so much!

This place has gone so far down it's sad. Yeah, it's COVID-19, but this place should be doing considering it offering outdoor patio dining in addition to take-out orders. The staff is overwhelmed and don't know what the f*** they're doing half the time. They are super slow getting orders out and like a fool I didn't check our order before we left... we had some wonton soups missing. Nearly $130 and they can't get this right? One of my kiddos asked for chicken strips and fries ($5.99). She stopped eating the chicken after about two bites so I tried it. It was dry and tough to eat. The fries were not what she was expecting either. They were the half wedge, half curly type. Do NOT order sushi. You'll regret it! The "volcano lobster roll" ($25) falls apart at the first grasp of chopsticks and it's not fresh seafood. Smh...

Enjoyed the food (I had a custom stir fry) and the service was excellent. Will try again.

    Cup of miso soup

Sunday lunch and this was the spot we wanted to try out. We arrived around 1:30 and to our surprise it wasn't at all busy. We stood at the front and waited for the hostess. When she finally did make her way on over, she asked us where we wanted to sit. We opted for a table in the dining room. She left us with the menus and we noticed there was only one other table occupied. Our server made his way to us, and he was very friendly throughout. The menu has a wide selection of items you can order from. They have soups, salads, sushi, pastas, some main entrees, and a variety of Chinese dishes as well, just to name a few. We ended up ordering a chicken fried rice to share, cup of miso soup, one rainbow roll, a lemonade, and some water. As we sat and waited for our food, our server brought on over some fried wonton strips. They were good, but I just wish they would've maybe accompanied them with some sweet sauce. They were just bland. My miso soup came out right after and to my surprise the broth was lukewarm. Miso soup is supposed to be boiling hot and this was not. It was also very salty.. The chicken fried rice was delicious. We both really enjoyed it and glad that we did order it. Our rainbow roll was ok but it was definitely not freshly made. It was dry. The server was attentive and did check up on us several times. We also asked for chili oil and there was definitely no oil in "chili oil," It was crusty and what looked like dried up old chili.. Driving by I always thought that this place looked fancy but it is most definitely not. It is expensive though.

Don't bother with the ribeye. The menu says aged but this steak was so plain I doubt it was. It didn't even seem to have salt on it.

I should have looked more carefully at the menu, but I have never been to a less vegetarian friendly Mexican food place. I ordered a Paloma and it was the worst I have ever had. It tasted like it had no alcohol at all. The place is tiny, and then they had a band coming to play. It was vibrating the entire building. My teeth were rattling. The music itself would have been pleasant if it wasn't eardrum shattering. My husband liked his drink. The service was fine, although there was a communication barrier, I blame myself and not the waitress. I think that's about it. It was also not cheap like others are commenting. This was a big fat fail. Let me add - per my Apple Watch, the decibel level got up to 107 db, and 10+ mins over 95 can damage your hearing! I've been to plenty of places with live music, but never anything that incredibly loud. There were really young kids in there, too!

I really enjoyed a night out here with my parents for a unique meal in this small town. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4.5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING Could be better. There is some on the north side right next to the restaurant or in the lot just across the street. There is minimal parking on the south side. It's a busy street so be careful. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This medium-sized venue is located on the south side of town with busy Dal Paso Street nearby. My dad refers to it as the ghetto. Some areas are rundown indeed and some outside work could be done, but it's okay. Inside, the high ceilings, flat screen TVs, Spanish music, and some oceanside vibes invite you to an open-style dining area. There was one lone restroom which I personally hate because sharing with other men is disgusting. It's well-lit inside. While we were there, a live 5-piece band came in to play about 8 songs. They never asked us gringos what we wanted to hear. Lol. THE GRUB Complimentary chips were decent, but not very salty. The first batch of salsa was mild. The second batch we received was a bit more smoky-flavored and had more of a chipotle essence to it. + michelada especial ($11) with Modelo - had bacon, cucumber, and shrimp too. So refreshing after a long day! + filete al olivo ($18) - "Basa swai fillet skillet cooked with olive oil, garlic, and chile de arbol served with rice and salad." I really enjoyed this because it came with three small flour tortillas - the perfect portion for me. But, the outer edges of the fish were a bit crispy and hard to cut into with my fork. That's the only silverware we were given was a fork each. + torre altata ($23) - this was a tower of all kinds of items: shrimp ceviche, cooked shrimp, lime juice-marinated shrimp, octopus, Mexican scallops, tuna, onion and cucumber in a red sauce and topped with avocado and chiltepin pepper. My dad said it was way too much for him, but it was good. + tacos de camaron ($14) - my mom devoured hers, not even bothering to let us try it so it must have been really good. I think it was three smaller tacos. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They had a nice little kid's menu, but my kids were elsewhere so I'm not sure how it fared. SERVICE Most of the employees spoke English, but were also bilingual in Spanish and all of them were friendly. They worked super fast to bus tables, get drink orders, and serve meals. MY FAVORITE PART... My michelada! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The wait to get in on a Friday night. Why don't they use OpenTable?! Lol.

I really appreciated the variety of vegetarian options, which felt thoughtfully done rather than like an afterthought. My bowl was flavorful and well-balanced, though worth noting: even after asking for heat, it wasn't spicy at all, so spice lovers may want to temper expectations. That said, the experience had a bit of a rough start. We arrived right at the posted opening time (11am) and ended up waiting outside in the freezing cold, unsure if they were actually open. We had to call to confirm, and only then did someone come to unlock the door. Once inside, I asked for hot tea--pretty standard at most Japanese spots--only to be told they were completely out, which was surprising. All things considered, Yanagi Ramen delivers a dependable bowl with good vegetarian choices and a clean, modern space. A few opening-hour kinks and missing basics kept it from being great, but the food itself was enjoyable, and I'd happily come back--just not for spice, and hopefully next time with hot tea ready to go.

My only thing is that the soup could have been slightly warmer and with a smidge more broth. I usually don't like a tone of broth but this was a little lacking (see photo). My friend got the seafood ramen and it looked really bad. He said it came cold which was confirmed with another person who tried the soup. The shrimp looked very overcooked and the scallops were tiny. We also tried the calamari and the takoyaki. The takoyai wasn't very good and the calamari also wasn't great but the sauce saved it a little. We also tried the white peach sake which didn't taste like alcohol at all. The hot teas and sodas are refills as well. Service was nice and the interior is very pretty and modern.
