So many options on the menu that call to you but, you know you have to pick one; maybe two. Chicken fried steak with crispy hash browns and scrambled eggs, gizzards, and corn bread for the appetizers. I could hardly wait. The cornbread!!!! Woah! Huge. Hot. Soft. Buttery. Melt in your mouth. So good. Then, those gizzards! Not overly seasoned. Not overly breaded. Not overly greasy. Extra hot. Extra yummy. Chewy and juicy. Oh, man. She put that last steaming plate in front of me and I could hardly contain my excitement. I remember when this place first opened. The most amazing chicken fried steak I have ever had. Spicy, creamy, thick, and perfect for lightly breaded meat. You could taste the love that was poured into the batter. I was so excited that when I took the first bite I was already reminiscing of my first time there. And then...uh oh. They changed the gravy. Wait? Why? It was perfection. Now, it just tastes like all the other chicken fried gravies around this area. No...please bring it back. Ambience: beautiful Food: So good but better with the previous gravy Service: Teamwork makes the dream work which worked perfectly Price: Fantastic! Needed the bill split in two and they had no problem doing so. Parking: A little tight with those apartments also being right there but, I didn't have to wait long for one to be available. I will definitely be back again to try other things on the menu but, please, I beg of you, go back to the other gravy. read more

Tried coming here for breakfast but never made it inside unfortunately. They were having an event in their parking lot and wouldn't allow customers to park. I was told to park across the street in the post office parking... parking on federal property is not a alternative you loaning out your own parking lot. read more

We came on a Friday around 11 am during this pandemy... we were greeted and seated immediately. The host was so sweet along with our waitress. Our group ordered: shrimp and grits, country fried steak, and jambalaya. We were all so happy with the portions and more happy to taste how yummy each dish was!! We all had some left overs to pack for later. We also ordered some cocktails and were overall happy with our experience. Before we came I read reviews how this restaurant could leave you with a long wait whether it's for a seat or the food but we didn't experience that at all. Would come here again and recommend. read more

This place was delicious! A bit pricey and a bit of a wait, but totally worth the price and wait seeing as the portions are quite large, and everything is made fresh to order. I got the biscuits and gravy w/ chicken and fries, and it was so good! The fries were regular fries you'd find anywhere, but everything else tasted so good and full of flavor. The gravy, the chicken, and the biscuit all went together so well. It was so much that I had get a to go box. My husband got the chicken and waffles and let me try some, and wow! The chicken was crunchy, juicy, and flavorful (as was the chicken in mine) and the waffle was light and fluffy. We also got the fish bites appetizer and it came with fries and tartar sauce. and honestly I liked it so much I'd consider ordering it as my main dish. So so yummy, we will be frequenting Pacific Southern many more times to come. Next time I think I'll step out of my comfort zone and order something else. read more

After trying chicken waffles in Seattle I decided to give this place a try. What I liked: the restaurant atmosphere. Great service. Delicious sweet tea (probably not sweet enough for anyone from the south though). The way the chicken and waffles looked. Why I'm only giving it three stars: I found the fried chicken tasteless. It had a nice texture but when I bit into it, I experienced no flavor. The waffle was soft. Based upon how it looked, I expected it to be a little crispy or flaky on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. It was only soft. And the waffle wasn't even warm-- even though they brought it out fresh. Even when I added syrup to my chicken and waffles, it was still tasteless. All in all, I've had better. Maybe I'll go back and try other items on the menu because the chicken and waffles was lacking in my opinion. read more

Went here on a Saturday morning. It was packed, but we were still seated pretty quickly. The gals working the front are on top of things, clearing tables, getting food out making sure everyone is happy. While waiting for our food we discovered the back bar area which we will for sure sit in next time there is a wait! Now the food, it was SO GOOD! His is the kinda place you want to go to on a "cheat day." We got mimosas, chicken fried steak and shrimp and grits with cornbread. The shrimps were huge, the flavors perfect and the textures all what they should be. Cant wait to go back and try more stuff! read more

We had never been here for lunch, although have had breakfast several times and always enjoyed it. Color me disappointed. Have watched others order their fried chicken and finally this was the day and my mouth was watering for home made southern buttermilk fried chicken. When I was growing up, fried chicken was just that, chicken fried with wonderful crispy breading and you could taste the chicken and taste the breading. This breading had so many herbs and spices in it that it no way resembled southern friend chicken. It came with a side of collard greens which I adore but this side had so much smoke it tasted off. Also came with a side of baked beans, wait I think they called them BBQ beans but had so much sugar in them that they didn't even taste like baked beans. I mean seriously folks, if you are going to offer Southern style chicken and fixings then stick to what is really Southern style. Don't over power with herbs and spices, let the taste of the food come through. I'm doubting we will go back. read more

I was stopping through the area looking for some good soul food and seen this place with good reviews. If I could give this a negative rating I would. from the moment me and my friend walked in we was not greeted, waited 15 mins before I had to go and seat myself. The food is bland with no seasoning. the bartender had a nonchalant attitude and forgot to put in half of my order. once my food arrived and half was missing he never came and apologized for the inconvenience. Definitely won't be coming back no time soon! read more

You want breakfast, seconds for tomorrow, delicious and huge servings then this is the place! Super good and quality food. Nice presentation. Every plate you could pretty much share with someone. We ordered the chicken and waffles and the french toast. Totally satisfied my breakfast craving and had a bunch of leftovers. Worth every penny! read more

I found this place on a whim and let me tell you, I'll be back!! So, I ordered the shrimp and grits, hush puppies, pancake breakfast, Mac and cheese and the Bloody Mary. THE SHRIMP AND GRITS!!!! Y'all, these were some of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. The grits were so creamy and the shrimp was PERRRFECT. The vibe in the restaurant was cool: great music, spacious, multiple TVs so you could probably watch the game and whatnot, seemed to be a bar in the back but it was closed. Definitely worth the visit and I can't wait to go back to try the other items. Everything was really good, like really good. If you order like me, you'll need a nap afterwards lmao. You can't go wrong with the shrimp and grits, pancake breakfast or catfish meal, Bloody Mary or sweet peach! This was a hard review. I love the food here. There is no doubt about it. We always get the chicken and some catfish on the side. That honey butter is to die for. If food was the only thing that mattered than this place would get 5 stars from me. But frankly it's not. Whether it is dining in or take out, the service here is disorganized to say the least. Dining in guarantees a half hour wait. More recently, we ordered to go after a long day at work. They said 30 minutes. We know they take a while so we waited 45 before coming. An hour later, we were still waiting for our food. We finally asked what was going on. And they tell us they accidently gave our food away to the party who decided they wanted to take some home. The waitress wasn't apologetic while we waited another half hour. read more

Been there before. Food was great. but Im wondering if you are allowed to place a pick up order over the phone? if not oh well. But if you can it's annoying that I've called multiple days this week and it sends me straight to messages. on top of that there's no contact email or any other way to contact them on their website. so I can't talk to a manager or gm to figure out what's going on. another thing. The Marysville pac south (Talked to the gm there) doesn't even know there's another pac south here in tacoma So they were no help to me but At least they picked up the phone. read more

I'm glad I found this spot. I've been wanting some chicken and waffles. Their waffles were good and it was a lot of chicken for me it comes with 4 pieces and I only ate 1 since I get full pretty easy. But other then that the food was good I would definitely come back and try some other food they have. read more

I'm really glad this place is open during COvid. Hours are incorrect as they average stop serving food by 7 pm and close at 7:30pm. Seating is limited to 5 people at most at a table. Menu has changed some but chicken and waffles are served all day. Breakfast is served all day. I've tried several meal and have been happy with the meals. Only thing I wish is that they were open later on Friday and Saturdays. read more

Waited to be seated for 20 mins, which is fine. Waiting can mean it is a popular=good restaurant. We arrived at the end of the peak time so when we were seated, a lot of customers were leaving. However, we waited for our foods for more than 30 mins. We ordered a breakfast plate with a waffle (additional $4), Ruben sandwich, and BBQ pulled pork sandwich. If the food was good, the wait time was totally fine but at least what I ordered was a pure disappointment. Grits were lumpy and flavorless. The waffle tasted like cheap out of box favor. The syrup was the icky artificial one. I should have known better when I saw the cleaniness rating at the door said just "ok". Nope, we will not try again. read more

Yaaaaaassssss, honey. Yaaaaassss!! The wait was a little long but the food was soooooooo worth it! A southern dream! There is a bar in the back, but drinks weren't needed for this occasion. The menu had a lot of good things to choose from so it made selecting something a little difficult but I ordered the chicken fried steak and HOLY BREAKFAST... My mouth was in heaven! Ok, this review took almost a month.... I had mixed feelings about this place. I loved and hated it all at once. So let's get into it. I loved the food and the ambiance... It's truly unique and special. I hated the food and the service. The chicken and waffles were DOOOPE! Before yall rip my head off, hear me out! My chicken was like 90% fully cooked all the way through, but it was so damn good I just te around that without sending it back! That's like amazing and unsanitary! Re: the service... It was inconsistent! One, older, lady was helpful, sweet and attentive. However, minutes later a different waitress, younger, was ratchet and lazy as hell. No Bueno! This is the place great place to visit when you have just arrived in Seattle and you are off the beaten tourist path! I'm sure regulars get treated well. You want my firth star? Hook me up with another plate of chicken and waffles! read more

First off, Nothing Southern here. We decided to stop for Breakfast 7 -9. Terrible food and service. No flavor in the food at all. We skipped the Silver Spoon on this day. What a mistake. Silver spoon is where it's at folks. They didn't even bring my change back. Only a quarter, but WTF. Oh, the water was good. And yes, the food was Lukewarm, are they trying to get you sick? Don't listen to all the employee reviews. DONT DO IT FOLKS! read more

Have heard good reviews about this place so was excited to try it, but my friend and I left feeling unimpressed. I had a sweet tea and the corn beef hash. The sweet tea was good and had unlimited refills. It also tasted like Mcdonald's sweet tea but good nonetheless. I was not impressed with the corn beef hash, it was homemade and made from scratch but it was basically just big chunks of meat with very small and minimal onions and potatoes. Not as flavorful as I wanted, very plain and simple. I've had better! Then my friend got a chicken po boy sandwich and it was mainly just bread. She didn't really taste the flavor at all. It was also rather dry, they didn't put much of the sauce on it. It was all filling but not satisfying. Okay but not great! Great customer service, we were seated in the back at the bar promptly due to busy front area. The waitress was nice and friendly and gave us recommendations and let us take our time in ordering. I might go back again and try something else like the chicken and waffles that are supposedly good! We maybe just ordered the wrong dishes! read more

Excellent option if you're in the area or if you're passing through to Portland like us. We stopped here on a whim when we could no longer take Tacoma's rush hour traffic. The location was conveniently located not far off the freeway. We were there on a Monday so the restaurant was fairly empty. We were greeted and able to sit right down. The restaurant is clean and modern. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I expected meals to be big based off the reviews but I think I still underestimated the portions. You can easily share a dish between two or three people. I think it might have been better for us to just order and share family style. The fries chicken was delicious. When this place first opened up, the food was seriously AMAZING! I'm talking, the best fried chicken and waffles and THEE BEST shrimp and grits that was loaded with bursts of flavor. ...now?? I have no idea what happened. They either got new owners, recipes, or cooks but the food has been soooooo bland and nasty the last three times we have went back. We keep going back in hopes that the food will go back to the way it was when they first opened, but nope. I will never go back here again. Today I literally had to use two salt packets in my shrimp and grits because it was so bland! Super sad about this place's food going downhill. Oh and also, today we came in for breakfast at 10am (our last time we will give this place a chance), and they had their rap music blasting so loud, it felt like I was eating breakfast in a night club. What has taken me so long to come here? As a Southern transplant getting some of the best grits I have had in a long time. The shrimp was perfection. Add a bit of Tabasco and you are in business. My husband loved the biscuits and gravy and said the biscuit is in his top 3. The servers were friendly and welcoming. We will be back and I suggest you try it. read more

Whenever my brother visits, this is a go-to place. The company and food is amazing. A pleasant place to be if you enjoy a friendly environment! I personally enjoy the steak nachos. I personally love the place. The layout is very fashionable and there is a cute DIY fit with mason jars for cups. It's cute and helps add my love to the place. The food is delicious, I'm always craving. Anything from finger foods for chatting or a great deal of food when your stomach starts to growl. I can never not enjoy myself here! And the company! Wow. If you have not yet dined at Pacific Southern, you're missing out. I think the location used to be some bar before, but they've revamped it. Firstly, the staff here is amazing. The gal who greeted and seated us was so welcoming and sweet. They don't have a vast menu which is awesome... They perfect their dishes. Everything is so reasonably priced too. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with garlic mashed potatoes. He substituted his beans with collard greens and it came work corn bread. I ordered the bbq pulled pork nachos. Fried chicken: perfectly seasoned and the crispness... Mmmmm... The only complaint we had was that the chicken was boneless. My boyfriend thought it was bone in and so did I. Guess it's personal preference. The collard greens and garlic mashed potatoes are on point! Nachos: the 'chips' are potatoes, not tortilla chips. The portion is hugeeeeeee... I barely ate half of it. It's loaded, too... Tons of cheese, bbq pulled pork, onions, etc... I'm not a huge fan of bbq, but if you are, get these! I ordered some kind of gummy bear alcoholic drink... Not sure the name, but it was a drink I would definitely order again. This restaurant is by the Tacoma mall, across the post office, by that McDonald's. Come give them a try. When a party of six your tip is automatically included which is the 18%. and I was like oh wow we had six on Tuesday and I left a $25 cash tip. And he said although waiter should've told you it's automatically taken out and the 18% was already taken care of. And I was like no I handed the waitress $25 cash and she never said 18% was taken out and I didn't pay attention to my receipt cause I had children with me but then when I looked back in my car on Saturday night from Tuesday, I realize that she double charged me. So on Tuesday she got over a $50 tip. The waitress on Tuesday she was a Hispanic lady with dark black hair. She robbed me. So please be aware you're going with the party of six or more. They automatically take out 18% gratuity. And I did not like that because she should've told me that you don't have to leave cash. She knew my kids were crying and I was trying to yo leave and not distract the other guest. But on the positive note, the place is nicely decorated. And service is good. I just felt robbed, so for that fact I will never ever be coming back. If you were looking to try this place for the first time come early if you want hot fresh food. If you come later in the evening, the food does taste old.

The chicken was phenomenal and so juicy! They were served with a generous amount of butter and syrup, which made them even more decadent. The french toast was also really good - the bread was perfectly toasted, and the toppings were amazing. It was served with a powdered sugar and strawberries on top, which added a great depth of flavor. That being said, the rare comfort food is just that, comfort. This place is amazing. In the last 12 months I've been here twice. Sonny waited on us both times so the service has been spot on. He cares about the quality of the experience and takes his time making sure it's perfect. This is real southern food (I am from Atlanta) and real southern food takes time. You don't crank it out. My husband's favorite food is fried chicken and it didn't disappoint. The food is thoughtfully and traditionally prepared. There is history in every bite. The chicken and waffles are A1. Best I've had to date. Also they had real collard greens, not the usual nasty a** restaurant vinegar greens. The staff was friendly, my kids ate good. It was really good. I would've given it 5 stars but my wife ordered red beans and rice and about 20 minutes into our 30 minute wait (I didn't mind the wait) they came out and said the were out of rice. This was early afternoon maybe 1-2 O'clock. No excuse for running out of rice that early, and they should've said something sooner. It also meant she didn't enjoy her cornbread cause you know you have to dip that in your red beans and rice. If you're expecting true southern food just a news flash, you WILL NEVER find it in the Pacific Northwest. They being said, gotta at least give this place credit for trying. At least they have southern staples on the menu. Collards weren't cooked long enough. Them collards gotta be tender, and seasoned well. This place needs to season their food more. Hey chef, when you think you got enough seasoning, put more. I tried the fried chicken. Very moist but fried a little too long. Mac n cheese had no flavor. Cornbread was pretty good I have to say. They states it a southern Restaurant. Very questionable?!! Instant grits and chef bob ?!!!! Menu with limited items and to add insult rude servers. If this is Pacific Southern close to 38th St. by the post office your service sucks the waitress brought us water and never came back to our table. We sat there for over 40 minutes. For breakfast I went with the Mediterranean Veggie Hash, which was excellent! Good ratios of all the ingredients and I will absolutely be eating another one! It seems like this is one of those places that you're going to want to get to early - by the time I was leaving it was a full house with no seating left!

Your choice of bread. Comes with hasbrowns. The steak was cooked medium which was fine. The sauce on the steak is what got me. There was pesto, shredded cheese and some type of ketchup/may/ maybe Sriracha mix. But it was REALLY tasty. Southwest hash - great portion. Has brown postion was nice and crispy. They were very busy. It was father's day. So im sure it was just an off day with the service. Would definitely try again The only suggestion i would make would be to put the items that dont fit on the main plate, on a smaller plate. These tables have limited room. I even took my son and his friend there for breakfast when they came over for the Sleep Token concert I didn't get to go to. They loved it. I had a drink, they didn't--they're Y2K kids who have learned from others' experiences and did not join me on that one.
