I worked with Johnathan for the initial estimate and he was kind, thorough, and supported me through every phase of the repair. The pricing was reasonable and the crew did a good job. They even found dry rot that needed repairing, which we would have not known, had it not been for their attention to detail. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the repair, but after speaking with Alex directly, another crew was sent the following business day to correct the issue. I guess, I can understand that as a general policy, but they BUILT MY ROOF, and now they won't fix it. Im sure not going to recommend them anymore business, and im SURE not going to utilize them for anything else, EVER. As you can see from his response, Jim is a SUPER nice guy. He shirks responsibility, gossips about his customers, and leaves them high and dry(or wet) in this case. If I were a potential customer I'd CERTAINLY weigh these things before I let them into my house, and onto my roof. Are these the folks you want taking care of YOUR home for the next thirty years?

I got estimates from four roofing contractors for this project. Two of them used areal photos to give their estimates (i.e. they never came to the house). One contractor was going to send an employee to do the estimate but then never showed up. Jim not only came himself to do the estimate (at the time and date he said he would), he was there on the job site and involved for the entire project from tearing off the first shingle to hammering in the last roofing nail.

I'm a retired architect so I know a bit about construction. Followed my own advice of…read morefinding/receiving at least 3 bids. I got 4. H & G (Marc) gave me a speedy but thorough bid. They were not as formal (hand written) as the other 3 bids (computerized) but their pricing was competitive. I (we) chose H & G because I was always partial to "mom & pop" businesses who listen first and advises accordingly. Our first choice was a basic roof clean up to extend the roof life. Though H & G advertises that they do that kind of work, it is not necessarily their preference ideally. We found this out only AFTER we agreed to their service. Without ANY pressure, they gave us a bid on that clean up without any hesitation and without ANY pressure for us to replace the whole roof. We were very impressed with this and their patience even though the job was not a "money making job". With the information they gave us along with their consultation, we decided to do the WHOLE roof replacement. This may have been surprising to H & G. They (including Jaime the silent One) completed the job quickly, efficiently, always communicating when necessary (unforeseen problems with the suggested fix and cost analyses before any work is performed). We also decided to replace our old gutters with new, an item we did not have to do but did so because of our confidence in their services. H & G also removed our gutter guards (relatively new) and re-applied them to the new project. Any guards that needed to be replaced was done quietly without any adjustments to the original bid. Final billing and remittance was smooth. Above all our roof looked great with assurances that any items that we felt needed attention, would be immediately address. We had a small water leak due to our existing old garden window that was covered by the roof. When we discovered it notifying H & G, they came the next day to patch and fix with NO complaints. One of neighbors who was tracking our progress was confident enough to hire H & G to do his roof. The ultimate of compliment to a contractor who's done a fine job. Final Inspection was routine and approved with compliments. Though great work is not always appreciated, I hope this review of H & G Roofing will do them justice as I would NOT hesitate not only to hire Marc and Jaime again but to refer them to all who are curious. They set clear expectations from the start and communicated well throughout the entire project. They worked hard and were completely responsible and accountable. At one point they accidentally broke a skylight, but instead of cutting corners, they went above and beyond to get it repaired properly and made it right. They also cleaned up thoroughly after every single day of work, which we really appreciated. The finished roof looks even better than it did before. I also want to recognize Jose and Adrian. When the inspector required additional work on the roof, Jose took the time to clearly explain the cost differences so we knew exactly what we were paying for and why. I had a lot of questions about the cost breakdown for the sheeting, and it was pretty confusing to me, but Jose was so patient and kept explaining it different ways until it finally clicked. Adrian set us up with our initial consultation and spent over an hour working through pricing with us to get us a great deal. He respected my budget and kept it at the forefront the whole time, which made me feel truly seen and heard. Anytime I had a question or needed help with financing, he was there for me. I asked Powers Roof Service for an invoice for the emergency repairs and the owner contacted me directly and advised that there would be no charge. In fact, he was glad to hear that the repairs were covered under warranty. I am so very impressed by Powers Roof Service regarding their professionalism, their great business sense, and their good neighbor outlook.
