Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I have never experienced such a RUDE woman in my life. I left the store appalled at how condescending and rude she was to me. I came it to let out a dress I ordered, and needed it rushed to be finished. I offered to pay a little extra if that would help out to have it rushed. First off she completely ignored me standing there for a solid ten minutes while she was talking to someone changing in the fitting room and once I got her attention and told her what I needed done she told me that it would cost $120 (the dress didn't even cost that much!!!) I asked if that was the standard price for letting something out and she literally replied telling me to leave her store and go somewhere else if I don't like the price... All I did was ask if that is a normal price range to pay for something so simple! I can't even explain how insulting and condescending this lady was to me. Absolutely a horrible experience, and I would greatly encourage everyone to go to another place! read more

I am inspired to write a review for Pacific Tailor after my experience today--I no longer live in PB, so I thought I'd visit a tailor closer to where I live. I'm a shorty, so I had to have a dress shortened that has a decorative hem-type thing. Tailor #1 was going to charge $30 to shorten it from the bottom of the hem up, and he refused to do it from above the hem and up. I told him I might be back, and scampered back to my failsafe in PB...ahhhh, Melody, Tailor #2 :). Not knowing if I was just crazy to request it hemmed that way (it was floofy and ruched where the hem attached to the bottom of the dress, so it would definitely take more time/skill if at all possible), I asked first before even trying on the dress. Without hesitation, she gave me a "yes!" and a smile, then a quote ($20--hollar!) and the rest is history. OH, not quite--I also needed it within 48 hours, to which she told me to call in 24, it would probably be done--and definitely by when I needed it. So anyhoo, I've been going here for three years, and during most of that time I have not lived near PB--she's worth the drive for her skill, fair pricing and efficiency. read more

I took my Seabee Ball gown to have it steamed and dry cleaned, I wore it back in 2009. It was a wreck, snags, spills and wrinkles and the color looked like it was fading from being in the closet for so long. I took it here to have it cleaned and steamed. When I got it back a couple days later it looked amazing, exactly like it did when I first purchased it. I couldn't believe how great of a job they did!! Thanks so much!! read more

I called and ask if they can just do measurement for me since my cuz is gonna held his wedding in Manila. Melody said yes. I went to her shop after 5 mins. She took my measurements in 2 mins. Oh yes, Pacific Tailor. Parking in the Von's parking lot for anything gives me nightmares on a daily basis. But let me tell you.... the woman who works here (and possibly the owner) never fails me. Melody is the best. I moved to SD from LA and was in search of a new tailor I could trust with my clothes. My roommate suggested this place and I have been a dedicated customer ever since. Melody is the only one I will trust with my clothes and her work is amazing. Just picked up pair of pumps, a pair of boots, and a leather jacket all of which were repaired at this shop. They all look really great even though these were complicated repairs. They glued a hole in the leather jacket and while still visible the jacket is now wearable. The boots especially look very very nice I could not be happier. They dyed the leather so they would practically new. read more

I have time to write this review because I have been standing here for 30 minutes watching her sew my pants. She hadn't even started on them when I walked in. I recently lost 25 lbs and all of my work slacks were way too big. So I was sick of all that extra fabric that bunches up so I had enough and did a Yelp search and it didn't let me down. I forgot the owners name she's a nice asian lady and is very helpful. She took my measurements and said they would be done in a week and they were. I tried them on and they feel amazing sure beats buying a whole new wardrobe of slacks . I will be brining her all of my jeans as well. read more

I did not get anything done here, however I went in to get a bridesmaid dress altered. She told me it fit perfectly and helped me with what height of shoes to pair with it. What a nice little shop. Well the lady that works there was really nice when I walked in. Had a great sense of humor too. I had to get a different device sewn on my uniform but the new device had such a small change on it and really couldn't see it. She at first thought I was just brining in the same thing but after explaining it to her she (as well as I) didn't really understand but non the less was eager to change it out for me. She then asked when I needed it. Well with the military if you don't come to work in the right thing then they get all butt hurt and gripe at you so I asked for it to be done the following day. She said no problem and said it would be a $1000.00. I of course had no problem with that. Seemed reasonable. Lol ok ok I'm just kidding she said that but of course it was a joke. 2 uniform changes next day service and jokes to go along with. I liked the place and the lady that worked it. When I came to pick up my uniforms the next day she greeted me with a smile and had done a great job. It only was $10 and well worth it to get it done in one day. DO NOT GO TO THIS TAILOR. I'm basically only giving one star due to the fact that Yelp makes me, otherwise- I would have given this business no stars. I went to this tailor after reading only great reviews on this site and was really excited because it's only about 5 minutes from my house. The first time I went in here, I dropped off a bridesmaids dress that needed to be 'taken-in' so I could wear it in my sister's wedding the following weekend. I was assured that this would be a simple process and the dress would be done no later than noon on Friday (the wedding was on Saturday). I knew this was cutting it close, but didn't really have another option. By noon on that Friday, I called into the shop just to double check on the dress before making the trip over, and the woman had no idea what I was talking about (heart attack here). She had not even touched my dress since I had dropped it off 6 days earlier. At this point I was in a panic and told her she needed to have it done within the next hour for me to pick it up. Luckily, the woman got herself in gear and had my dress done by 2PM for me to pick it up and it was done well. I shook off this experience as a fluke and decided to give her a second try with a few pairs of work pants I needed to be tailored to fit better (about 6 months later). I dropped these pants off right before leaving on vacation and she had them pinned just so- assuring me that this was a simple task that she could have done in a few days and it would only cost $30. Because I was on vacation- I didn't get back in to pick up the pants for another 2 weeks. When I went in to pick them up- she seemed completely unorganized and took about 10 minutes to find my two pairs of pants. After charging me $40 (don't ask me why this didn't align with the original price quoted), I realized her shop was full of other customers, so I made the mistake of leaving without trying on the pants first. Weeks later, I wore one of the pairs of pants to work, and realized they fit EXACTLY the same as they had before I had dropped them off. Annoyed with this, I went right home after work and tried on the other pair that I had left with her, they also had not been tailored. So I had literally paid $40 to have my pants just sit in her shop for 2 weeks. When I tried to confront her about this, she claimed that she had no idea what I was talking about. This woman is unorganized, her shop is garbage and she has zero care about customer appreciation. If you like the concept of throwing money away and being pissed off- this is a great place to get your stuff tailored. read more

The recent review on YELP by Kristen B. is wrong - Kristen has Melody's shop (Pacific Tailor at 1774 Garnet in Vons/Starbucks shopping mall) confused with a another man's shop in PB - who has similar shop name. Disregard the 10/17 review. I highly recommend Melody at Pacific Tailor - this is the correct place to take your dress, pants, jackets - anything that needs alteration. This place is fantastic! I tried on my wedding dress about a week and a half before leaving for my destination wedding and realized that I needed to have it brought it. Pacific Tailor is the only place that was willing to alter my dress in such little amount of time. She was able to get the dress altered perfectly (fits like a glove now!) in 5 days! I thought that I was going to have to wear a wedding dress that was a little too big, but now I don't because of her :) Not only was her work amazing, but she was extremely sweet and put my nerves at ease. I went to this shop today with my wedding dress that needed the train taken off (2 chiffon layers) to wear again as a ball gown. I'd never been and went because of the rating here on Yelp. What I found was unfortunately not what I expected I terms of price or ability. Don't get me wrong, Sean, the gentleman that was there was very nice. However, some things that women take for granted seemed lost on him. While he did clean off the 2 x 4 foot dressing room floor so my clean dress didn't get dirty, he handed it to me off the hanger and once I took it I was confused as what he expected me to do with it as I undressed, as he appeared to know the floor in the dressing room wasn't the cleanest and the only other thing in the room to hang it on was a nail in the wall. Any other place, they leave the dress on the hanger and put it on the hook in the room for you. I also had to ask him to try it on for him. So once we get to the price he tells me $120.00!!!!!! I ask why so much and he says he dosen't do the work there, has to send it out and its two layers (this is chiffon by the way....VERY thin layers, not a lot of work here, and says its a wedding dress. I remind him that its no longer a dress for a wedding, which should lower the "tension" factor in my mind. Needless to say I declined the service. read more

Melody, the lady who runs the shop was horrible and over priced. I brought my daughters dress in to be fixed. We had purchased the dress in LA and had a friends mom alter the front of it. We didn't notice that the cut on the neck line was a little off until the week of my daughter's big event. So I took it to Melody on Monday to see if she could fix the problem. Not only did she tell me that it was a mistake to take it to someone who was not a professional but that it was going to cost $50 and that it might be ready for me on Friday afternoon (the day of my daughter's event). I was in such a predicament that I said yes. I left the dress hoping to have it fixed. Lucky for me she called on Thursday (the day before the event). When she called me she said it was going to be an additional $20 because she had to bring in someone to fix the problem area and that I was going to love the dress. I told her I wanted to see the dress before I agree to pay for the services. When I went in and saw the dress, I was almost in tears. Not only did they not fix the problem, but she added rhinestones to the dress with a hot glue gun to cover up the poor stitching and cut she had made on the dress. I refused to pay her the $70, she never called me, nor did I agree to her adding embellishments to the dress. I left with my dress not paying her the full amount and had to fix it myself. I will never go back to Melody and recommend you not go to her either. She is moving to a new location in PB by the Radio Shack so make sure you don't go to that cleaners/alteration shop either. read more

I have been going to Pacific Tailor for years! Every person I referred to see Melody there has also been happy. If you need something tailored or fixed she always gets it right! I even buy clothes knowing that she will be able to make it fit just perfect for me. This is the only place i feel comfortable with my alterations. read more

I took a bridesmaid dress in about a month before the wedding, had my fitting, told her when the wedding was, and told her when I needed the dress. The day prior to my scheduled pick up, I called to inquire about my dress. SHE HAD NOT STARTED IT! She assured me it would be ready the next day and asked what time I would be there. I got there the next day, and IT WAS NOT READY! She hadn't even started it, but again she assured me it would be ready the next day. I went back, and it was finally done. I tried it on and she did a nice job, but I was terrified I wouldn't have a dress to wear to the wedding. I will prob go back because she did a great job, but plan to ask for my items a week ahead of time to be on the safe side. read more

The absolutely worst taylor shop for any expensive dress, especially a wedding dress. Ladies, please beware, DO NOT take you're wedding dress to this place, there are sooo many other great places that will not ruin your dress. The owner is not as friendly as she appears, if you make any comment about her work she will loose it ! I mentioned to her the inside of my dress was a still to bulking, she literally in front of me took the scissors and cut, and then ripped the extra material out and then handed it too me! I should be suing her, and still thinking about taking her to court! read more

I second Casey's review in regards to how it seems like the owner doesn't care about any orders that are less than $100 and Carly in regards to how it seems like she's disorganized and doesn't do a good job. I had 3 serious issues with this place: cost, time to complete the work and the quality of work. My boyfriend and I ended up bringing in one skirt, three maxi dresses and a pair of slacks. First off, I believe that $20 per dress or skirt is very expensive - especially for just a simple hem job. Even though I was hesitant about the price, I was set on coming here because of the positive reviews. My second issue was how long it would take to get the work done. All of the items we dropped off just needed a slight hem and the owner said that it would take 2 weeks. I was bewildered that it would take two weeks but she explained that it's wedding season so it'll take longer than usual so I said ok. I had a gut feeling that it wasn't done within the two weeks so we waited out another week. We came back to the shop exactly three weeks after dropping off the items and she said that only the pants, the skirt and one dress were done. She said she was finishing up another dress right then. She then told me that she couldn't do the last dress because the chalk had faded from the light colored chiffon material on the dress so she would have to re-measure it. I was beyond irritated. She had wasted our time because our items weren't done in a timely manner and then for her to tell me in person that she couldn't do the dress made me even more upset. She had my phone number so why couldn't she call me right away to tell me that the dress couldn't be hemmed because the chalk had rubbed off/was hard to see so that I could come in sooner to get it re-measured? I ended up telling her forget it and that I would just deal with the length. She said the dress she was working on would take her only another 5 minutes. So to kill time, my boyfriend and I walked around Tuesday Morning for about 15-20 minutes. When we got back to the shop, she still wasn't done. By the time we left the shop, I was in a foul mood. When I got home to try on everything, one of my maxi dresses was hemmed to basically be a hi lo! She had cut off too much in the front so my foot was showing and it's like she didn't cut anything off of the back because a good few inches were still dragging on the floor. I will never come back here again and I suggest that other people look into getting their items tailored elsewhere. Our money was definitely not well spent money. read more
