In May of 2026, we received an email that the staffed office on site would be "temporarily" closed effective immediately. Four months later, the office is still closed with no signs of it ever being opened again. In addition to the loss of speaking to management face-to-face, the Summerhill phone number routes directly to an AI bot that hears issues and promises to report them to management. I have never had an issue resolved or received a call back. The site has also has significant plumbing issues that seem to be getting worse over time. I have had my unit's water turned off all day twice in 2026 without prior notice. The shared laundry room has hot water settings shown on the units, but the hot water is not connected and cannot be used to properly clean clothes. The laundry room was closed without any notice on 8/21/2026 and is listed to be returned to use for residents "upon further notice". I have not received any notice from Summerhill staff since they closed their office, so I am unconfident that it will ever be returned. The AI helper at the office phone number says that the laundry room is in service. Overall, it looks like this complex is trying to operate on exclusively AI management and life here is progressively getting worse because of it.

Most tenants have lived here for DECADES, resulting in a lack of vacancy, and when there is a spot no advertising is needed because word of mouth is sufficient. That's a sign of a good apartment community. Perfect for families. Good sized apartments, decent rent w/most utilities included, and a small, safe area for kids to play outside. The pool is gated and maintained, though the "jacuzzi" hasn't worked since I've lived here so everyone just uses it as a kids' pool. Laundry room doesn't get too crowded & everyone is pretty respectful of eachother. Any maintenance issue I've had has been fixed within 24 hrs. 4, not 5, stars only because the apartments are a little older & there aren't many amenities (no gym, tot lot, etc).

Upon talking to them they quoted us 3,000+ for moving out earlier from our move out date which was insane as we were moving out due to safety reasons. Upon them investigating, Mary (community manager) was nice enough to let us go without any charges AS IT WAS SAFETY CONCERNS! We lived here for 5 months and had so much issues from fridge not working, termites, up stairs leakage and broken fireplace. If you look at the rating of this place the maintenance is all 5 stars because you will need them almost every week due to that many issues. The termites were located at our bedroom window which we had to sleep 1 ft away from every night... They took 1 month to fix leakage on the ceiling of our shower as they kept forgetting and I had to keep begging them to fix. Please save your money and don't rent here. There are so many other places for the same or even lower of what they are offering. (There is an apartment which is right across the street with washer and dryer in unit for a similar price!) I was not planning on writing a review but I was hoping maybe I can save someones time from this place. I waited for almost a year for my security deposit which I got in the mail today for $0.65. Fast forward to July 2020 and we were able to break our lease and move into one of the newer apartment units here at Bridge Bay and we absolutely love it! We used to pay ~$150 in Trash, Water, and Sewer fees per month. Here at Bridge Bay, water & garbage are inclusive, our rent is almost $700 less and our home is 100% cozier than our previous apartment. We were also lucky enough to receive a move-in special which was a bonus! The neighborhood feels safe and friendly. The Property Manager, Luz, is super sweet! She's very responsive, informative and helpful. The Maintenance guy, Alvaro, is also very friendly, helpful and efficient. Management at the last complex was ever changing, slow to respond and condescending. So, we're very hopeful and happy to have such a great team here. One of our "must haves" was to have a washer/dryer in our unit. Having to use shared laundry facilities was initially a concern for us, but the laundry room is only 20 steps away, clean, and well-kept. At our previous apartment we had a W/D in unit but they were junior appliances. The W/D's here at Bridge Bay are commercial grade; 5-6 loads used to take us all day to do laundry... Now we only have to do 1-2 loads and it only takes 2 hours at most. The parking options are amazing and close to your unit, and there's also plenty of street parking nearby too. The community is very well lit which is a plus. Being less than five minutes away from supermarkets, eateries, gas stations and the freeway is also very appealing. Bottom line is- we wish we moved into Bridge Bay from the get go, but now we have a genuine appreciation for this place. We plan on staying here for awhile!

We happen to be right next to the pool which can get noisy during warmer days. There's also a bit of noise from the street with some louder cars that drive by or race down Jarvis. For us it's loud but many of the other buildings don't have any of those noise issues. Weather in Newark is always cooler than the rest of the east bay and there's usually a nice breeze that comes through to keep air moving. We were happy hear for the most part for 2 years but our family is growing and it's time for a bigger place.

BEWARE I am extremely concerned about the towing practices…read moreat Sycamore Bay Apartments after what happened to me while making a delivery to one of their residents. I arrived around 1:12 AM and had to wait at the entrance because I had not been provided a gate code. I was actively trying to contact the resident, who eventually remotely opened the gate for me around 1:15 AM. However, the towing paperwork says my vehicle was already "observed" and dispatched for towing at 1:14 AM. I completed the delivery and returned within only a few minutes. My vehicle was already hooked up, but the tow truck was still inside the apartment property. My husband and I immediately approached the tow operators, explained why we were there, and asked them to release my vehicle. I called 911 at 1:22 AM while this was happening. The towing company's own paperwork says my vehicle was not "removed" until 1:24 AM. Instead of releasing the vehicle, the operators continued towing it through the gate. They stopped again outside the property, where the situation became even more confrontational. I was upset and trying to explain what had happened, but the way I was treated was completely unacceptable. One of the tow workers made a disrespectful comment to my husband about me needing to "watch my mouth," and I was ultimately told that I would not be getting my car back and would have to pick it up from the tow yard. I felt like I was being treated as if I had done something malicious when I was simply there to complete a delivery and leave. I was then left stranded around 2 AM in an unfamiliar area with my purse and wallet still inside my vehicle. I only had my phone with me and had to walk approximately 20 minutes to the tow yard, where I had to pay hundreds of dollars to retrieve my car. The entire experience was stressful, upsetting, and handled in a way that I believe was unnecessarily harsh. What makes this even more concerning is that after looking into this property, I found other public complaints involving parking enforcement and towing. I am clearly not the only person who has raised concerns about towing here, including complaints from residents and visitors. That raises serious questions about how parking enforcement is being handled at this property. I understand that apartment communities need parking rules. What I do not understand is a system where a visitor or delivery driver can apparently be flagged for towing within minutes, before they have even finished gaining access to the property, and then have their vehicle taken despite returning and asking for it back. I have preserved my towing paperwork, timestamps, 911 call record, delivery records, and witness information, and I have formally requested that both the apartment management and towing company preserve any surveillance footage, gate records, towing authorization records, photographs, and communications related to this incident. Anyone visiting or delivering to this property should be extremely careful about where they stop or park, even for a very short period of time. Management should seriously review how towing is being handled here and whether residents, guests, and delivery drivers are being given clear and reasonable notice.

Police responded, and I personally participated in the police report. Despite the seriousness of the situation, we never felt management took effective action to address what was happening. Terrell and Jennifer were repeatedly made aware of our concerns, but there was very little meaningful follow-through. Larissa communicated with us more, but even after the situation escalated, we were left feeling unsafe and without a real resolution. Residents shouldn't have to repeatedly contact management and law enforcement just to get serious concerns acknowledged. Management was also aware that we had experienced racial issues during a previous tenancy at this property which makes their continued inaction even more troubling. Terrell, Jennifer, and Larissa's handling of these issues fell far below what I would expect from property management.

I made sure that I told the apartment manager from the time I walked in, to the time that they had me pay for 2 applications + "convenience charge". I even kept repeating that this was only for 7 months, because I'm getting my house fixed. The woman, who was new, assured me that they could rent for 7 months. Lo and behold, I get home and an hour later, the apartment manager called and said, "remember when I told you that I was new and still learning? Well, i made a mistake and we don't rent for just 7 months..sorry". I was irritated because i cancelled other appointments I had with apartments to view. I asked her that since it was her mistake, I would like a refund on both my application + service charge and for my husband's application charge + service charge. She said she's work on it and then emailed me to say they got it approved for refund, EXCEPT the service charges. Now it is the middle of September and then only refunded one amount, bur not the other. I have confirmation email saying they's refund both. Money doesn't grow on trees and I have run out of patience. Makes me feel like I dodged a bullet with not getting this apartment if they are this shady.

The community gym is the best, the biggest and well quipped fitness center for an apartment complex. The pool and bbq areas are good too. The security has been great. The packages has a separate room and mailbox too. Oh and my favorite, its literally right next to Union city BART. We dont hear the train sounds at all. It cannot get any better than that, especially if you commute to city or take bart often like me. The parking garage is not in the best condition either , unfortunately. The other day I saw a rat near the gate to enter the garage. Their vehicle gates are ALWAYS breaking down.
