The Good: Location next to BART. Gym was clean. Kitchen and Utilities were functional. Service requests were painless. The Bad: It would cost me 18,000 dollars to break the lease. No negotiation. I had to walk a football field away to reach the trash chute. Avalon just decided one day that all our locks should be replaced with electric locks. No opt-out. "We decided. Screw your opinions about it." When I was moving out, I had until 12:00 to return the keys. I scrambled all day, and returned the keys at 12:05. That led to me being charged $190 for "accelerated rent". No negotiation. The tiny hot tub serviced a community of many hundreds of people, so whenever I used it, I had a bunch of white flecks all over my body. Basically just a greedy, uncaring corporate landlord squeezing as much money out of its residents as possible. It felt like living in a prison, and I couldn't get out without paying 18k. read more

My cousin got a 1 bedroom unit and the unit is right next to the "POOL ELECTRICAL ROOM" so imagine how loud the noise could be. He has has not slept since day one and it has been a disaster at work because he has not been able to focus on work due to the lack of sleep. He went to the leasing office and notified them like 3 times about this situation. They told him he should stay there for 30 days and if he wants to move to a different unit in the same building complex he has to pay for that 30 day of stay in the current unit. Also it has taken multiple trips back and forth while moving to this apartment unit and other than the gas fee it has cost him over $400 to get workers to move his boxes from the old apartment to this new place. As I mentioned he couldn't have a good performance at work due to lack of sleep which has caused him serious health issues. he might be facing penalties at work or even get fired. I've been living here for the past four years without major issues. However, the office staff are extremely rude. Even though there are people around, no one answers the office door. I've knocked for 30 minutes without any response. The office told me to pick up a key, and today marks the fifth day I've come downstairs with no one answering. It's as if they expect people to beg. DO NOT RENT HERE. Consider this your giant red flag. I will give you a breakdown of the past few months and you can decide yourself. I've included screenshots of emails sent by management to prove that everything I'm saying is 100 percent factual. 1. CRIME - don't let the nice facade fool you. THREE separate incidents of mail theft in the recent past (emails dated Sep 1, Nov 18 and Dec 6). Police activity for an unknown reason (email dated July 24). I believe there have also been incidents of cars being broken into (but I don't have emails for this so could just be a rumor, lets discount it), and the entrance gate to the parking garage was recently completely BROKEN down (which was not addressed by management at all in any emails that I got anyway, but it looked like a car rammed into it. I wish I had a picture). Btw, I loved their recommendation for the mail theft - pick up your packages quickly before they get stolen! 2. Critical Service interruptions - The garage exit gate broke down (Jul 13). Spa down for repairs (Sep 22). Extended water shutoff (Nov 16) AND a separate hot water shutoff (Dec 2). Main entry gate stopped working with entry remote (Dec 22). 3. Cleanliness issues - smoking is a common issue despite being a "smoke free community" (email dated Nov 12). Prepare to smell cannabis and tobacco in a lot of places. If you don't enjoy that smell, maybe pet poo in the corridors? (Jul 20). 4. Guest parking - there is a very very limited number of parking spots for guests, many of which are just used by residents as a second parking spot. Management is aware of this and the problem continues (see email Sep 24). Btw, if your guests want to park, you have to get a parking permit slip from the office, and if they've run out, and it's after hours, no guest parking for you. They will tow if you park without the permit (and yes they run out). I basically have to always ask guests to find street parking now. 5. Inaccessible management - the office door is literally always locked. If you want to speak to the property manager at all, you have to call ahead and make an appointment to do so, even if you just have a simple question. This is wild to me, and I've never seen anything like it. It's almost like they want to make it as hard as possible to get your problems actually resolved? There are numerous other issues I don't have proof for, so I won't get into it, but prepare for tons of noise because of the paper thin walls and floors and lack of carpeting, constantly overflowing trash rooms and bins, and many many other such delights. I will say one positive that is clear from all the emails - they're good about communicating all the horrible things going on. Whether these issues actually get fixed is a whole other thing. In summary - Don't live here. I expect to receive pushback from management from this review, and I'm sure more such things will keep happening, so come back to this review for updates! I will continue to spill the tea and do my part to warn the world. The maintenance crew is very on top of it! On a Sunday I submitted a service order to get my dishwasher repaired and Angelo came in under 30 mins and got it fixed! Shoutout to Angelo, he was so friendly, followed covid protocol and got my dishwasher fixed in no time! Not to mention he was so personable as well! Would recommend the maintenance crew at Avalon! So far, a great experience with them! UPDATE: So after living here for about 7 months. My car was parking in the GATED Garage and one day, I tried to drive my car out and my catalytic converter was stolen. The main office was not of much help and took many days to respond to my emails until I finally walked in to the office to talk to them about it. They did not bear any responsibility for having a gated garage being unsafe for us residents. All they told me to do was file a police report, talk to my insurance company and they would cooperate with the Union City Police department about the investigation. I asked the office how this makes my family feel unsafe being in a Gated apartment complex with a separate gated garage. Cars are always getting broken into and packages are always getting stolen but management doesn't seem to care. Towards the end we couldn't even contact the office regarding the mailrooms anymore. Their automated voicemail/phone bot was annoying. There's so many cigarette butts in the stairwell. They boast being a smoke-free living community so you would think they'd at least pick those up but they don't clean very well so there's always trash lying around. Rent went up every year but the quality of living went down. I'd say the best part of living here was maintenance was always quick to respond. We never had a problem with them. read more

I moved into Avalon Union City a little over a month ago and my experience has been nothing but simple, easy and seamless.... From touring, applying and moving in was a breeze thanks to the help of Eryn and the others on their amazing team! I moved here from Union Flats, which was only a block away and I WISH I had moved here sooner, the apartments are larger, have ample natural lighting, huge kitchens with actual regular sized appliances, and it just feels like home. I regret not coming here sooner. On top of that, it is still really close to everything you need, grocery shopping (safeway), Bart, high school and elementary school are also nearby. Loving my experience so far with Avalon Union City. Right from the day I toured, walkthrough with leasing staff, application process, verifications, onboarding, key handoff and community touring all done by Cali Paez has been a breeze. Ive lived in many apartments over the last many years of living in Bay area and my experience at Avalon has been the best so far. The community is spacious, very neat and well maintained, clean and brand new. Most apartments also has great views of the beautiful mountains. The community gym is the best, the biggest and well quipped fitness center for an apartment complex. The pool and bbq areas are good too. The security has been great. The packages has a separate room and mailbox too. Oh and my favorite, its literally right next to Union city BART. We dont hear the train sounds at all. It cannot get any better than that, especially if you commute to city or take bart often like me. Perfect location next to a huge shopping strip with many grocery stores, restaurants and Tesla supercharger station. Garage is gated and safe. 5 stars! DO NOT APPLY! This place is a complete scam. I recently moved to California and urgently needed a place to live, so I toured a unit at Analon Union City that was listed as "available now." I liked it and confirmed with the manager that it was move-in ready--she said yes. I applied that same night. The next day, the manager called to say my application was approved, but then told me I wouldn't be able to move in until the following Wednesday because she was taking Monday and Tuesday off. That made no sense after telling me the unit was available now, so I chose another apartment where I could move in immediately. She also told me if I didn't pay the deposit that same day, the application would not be completed--so I didn't pay, assuming that was the end of it. But the next week, they tried to charge me a $260 reservation fee for "holding" the unit--despite me never paying a deposit, never signing a lease, and never being told I'd owe anything! Even worse, they didn't notify me about this until Wednesday after the manager's days off--so they're charging me for holding it even when they weren't working. They even created a resident account in my name and marked me as a prior resident just to push the charge through. Just clicking "Apply" apparently makes you their tenant now. Absolutely insane. I'd give zero stars if I could. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

This place is like a wannabe luxury apartment complex. The appliances are decades old and will probably break on you a couple times during your lease, but shout out to the maintenance crew for being on top of it, I'd give them 5 stars. The walls are also very thin so be prepared to hear your neighbors walking around above you, people having sex, and screaming kids or barking dogs throughout the day and night. The garbage rooms aren't cleaned out regularly so they get pretty gross, and be careful of the stairways they don't clean that either -I recall there being broken glass in a stairway for weeks before I moved out (it's probably still there lol). The dog owners in this community are lazy and don't clean up after their dogs and the community doesn't enforce on it, so there's literally dog shit everywhere on the sidewalks outside of the community. The surrounding area for this place is nice and conveniently close to a shopping center and Bart all within walking distance, but don't be fooled that your car will be safe in the parking garage. I had mine broken into and the interior vandalized (they tried to break into my locked compartments with some sort of tool that damaged the keyhole) By the looks of other reviews, many others had break-ins too. To add to it, the leasing office didn't seem to care when I reported the situation as it's probably a regular occurrence to them. There was also no prior warning of the history of car break-ins here or general community outreach about it. Maybe hire security that actually does something? Or just keep ignoring the situation completely and let it continue, that's cool too - I don't live here anymore. This place raised rent by a ridiculous amount after my first year so I decided to pack up and found a way nicer situation with the amount of money they were trying to charge me (go figure). Imagine trying to raise rent for a run down unit with decades old appliances and stained torn up nasty carpet and calling it "luxury". Oh yeah, it's impossible to contact their leasing office now since they do all inquiries through some shitty app or web portal only available to residents and don't pick up their phone ever...so good luck trying to reach them after you move out. I just want to say that I don't have any personal grudges or vendettas against any of the staff here, they all seem like good people. Zero sign of empathy for your loss. 3) I shouldn't be dealing with this in the first place as we rented it because it's a gated community but the garage gate is broken 4 times a week. 4)The packages are stolen all the time. 5)The rental prices are way too high for all this bullshit to deal with. 6) I don't think if any of the cameras actually work, and they are placed in weird places where you barely get any fucking evidence so what's the use ? 7)The Residents should be allowed to have the video footage as they reside on the property but No the cops should come with warranty, why? 8) Avalon runs a Facebook group which is micro managed, if you got a complaint and wants share with the community they won't let you post it. The short version of this review is: I love living here except for 1 giant reason - our unit is right next to the trash compactor and it goes off all the time in the early morning (5am, 6am, 7am, and most recently today on Christmas, 3am). So unfortunately, as much as I love living here, I'll most likely have to move out of this complex by the end of our lease. Apartment Tour: When we went to tour this place, my boyfriend & I immediately knew that this was this was our #1 choice. We saw the model unit, and compared to this terrible apartment in San Jose that we saw the previous week, we knew that it set a high standard for the other 2 that we had scheduled to see. Application Process: Super easy, very quick (took about 20 minutes to complete), and we were approved pretty much immediately. Move-In: Seamless, it was nice to be able to reserve the loading zone for a few hours so that we could move in. Pros of living here: Residents are nice, amenities are amazing (they have a huge pool, 3 grills available for use, a beautiful gym WITH a squat rack which is very rare, and a huge Amazon hub locker and a separate package room for packages), the staff is very friendly and helped me get a closer parking spot to our apartment. It's right next to the Union City BART station, which is super convenient if you take BART. I also barely hear the BART trains which is a huge plus. They also do fun events - they were giving away school supplies to children for back to school, they offered a free gift wrapping service in the leasing office for residents, and they're also currently hosting a food drive. Another huge plus is the maintenance staff, when you submit a ticket, they come pretty much next day and they're all super friendly and helpful! Note - if you live in a 1-bedroom apartment, your second paid parking spot might be on the roof of Building 24 (and it took me an additional 10 minutes just to go down the parking garage and onto the street). Thanks to the staff, I was able to move my parking spot to a much closer spot, and it was super appreciated. Cons of living here: The #1 reason that I'm probably going to move out of this complex is because I can't for the life of me, stand living next to the trash compactor which goes off all times of the day in the early morning (5am, 6am, 7am, and most recently today on Christmas, 3am). I've talked to 2 maintenance people as well as 2 office staff, and basically they can't do anything about it. I don't want to have to move out of my unit, I just wish that we were given a set schedule of when the trash compactor would go off, because I don't think it should be going off every single morning (especially not on major holidays like Christmas). Other cons - the location is pretty far from the freeway, it can take you up to 10 minutes just to get on 880. Some people don't pick up after their pets even though they send lots of email reminders about it. Visited Avalon Community in union city on 11/13/23. We parked at assigned spot for new resident with necessary tags while touring the community with our resident friend for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, management got our car towed without any warning and it cost me 550$ to get my own car out. in addition to that, we got to hear verbal abuses from Tow truck driver and their management. So much fun!! would not recommend it though. Please save yourself from this predatory practice and find better community to live!! read more

I live next to this community. There is a woman at 24-532 I believe, who puts on unbelievably loud music in the patio, smokes weed, sings, and has fun overall a few times a week. I would be happy for her, but sometimes it gets prolonged and turns into a fun festival through the whole night by 4-5 am in the morning. Please somebody help to change her life into a respectful and healthy one, or convince her to relocate. Another thing is, that they have large dumpsters on hard metallic wheels that they tow to a garbage pickup point around 5 am in the morning a few days a week, making a hell of a noise while rolling and the garbage collector guy also makes sure to add extra loud sounds while grabbing or emptying the small bins into the dumpster. So this community is a real hell for someone looking for a quiet place to live. read more

I stayed here from 2017-2018. I was nervous at first after seeing all the reviews of car break ins, but I personally never had an issue. Overall I had a pretty pleasant stay here. We made sure to clean as much as we can before moving out to avoid being charged a cleaning fee and I was very happy to see that reflected in our deposit at the end. A lot of reviews mention the sketchy people around the property, but that just comes being close to the BART station where a lot of homeless people like to camp out. Lived here on and off for a few years. We had a few issues along the way but mostly enjoyed the apartment. The last straw was the 15% rent increase in Feb 2023 and we finally moved. I accidentally sent a package to the building after moving (hadn't updated my address with the vendor) and it had baby items that I urgently needed. I called and emailed but nobody responded. It's not possible to speak directly to anyone anymore it's by voicemail and appointment only. and they keep the doors locked now. (Wasn't like that when I moved in) I decided to stop by and try to grab the package (which was in a locker). Had a really unpleasant conversation with Serena where she said she nor her manager have time to help me collect my item and they are by appointment only. I told her nobody responded to my calls and I need to grab the box please. Serena said no she can't help me and closed the door in my face! This community was okay around 2019 or so but I've seen the decline in service and today was icing on the cake. The old manager james was kind and wouldn't have approved such treatment of folks for sure. I definitely recommend staying away from this building. read more

The leasing and maintenance staff at Avalon Union City are so wonderful. I just became a resident here and I can't say enough about how pleased I have been from the moment I entered the leasing office to take a self-guided tour. The leasing agent, Eryn Thompson, is so professional, kind, and effective. I was able to tour two units, apply successfully online, and obtain the unit I chose all in one day. I literally moved in on the very next day after seeing the unit. I am so grateful to the leasing agent, as well as Avalon's processes for helping me get a new home so quickly. Upon moving in, the unit looked and smelled brand new. The carpet throughout the unit and paint were all new and clean. Everything was in great condition. For the few things I did need some assistance with, the maintenance staff fixed everything promptly. Requesting maintenance is super easy through the app too. Everything is recorded and documented. The app and portal are amazing. The grounds are so clean too. The pool, jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen, walkways, gym, garage, hallways, etc. are all clean and I see the cleaning crew daily doing a great job. Everyone on the Avalon team are friendly and professional. the gym is amazing with tons of new machines and is super clean with great ventilation. I honestly cannot say enough great things about this wonderful new home. I am just so super grateful for having such a great experience with the leasing agent, Eryn, maintenance crew, especially Maria and Frank. Setting up internet was also easy with just a simple call from the leasing agent, AT&T was here in a day and got me up and running on the same day. Everyone I have met here has said that they have lived here for a very long time and really like the maintenance staff and all of the amenities. The units are spacious and you really can't ask for better than having central AC that works, an in-unit washer/dryer, and such wonderful space. The open concept floor plan is perfect for cooking while watching your kids. Even parking is great because your spot is on the same floor as your unit so you don't have to bother with elevators or stairs constantly. I am so grateful to live here and if you are looking for a new home, I recommend checking out this place. I think you'll like it too. :) read more

Three stars before covid, but one star during. Overall two stars. Yesterday had another stolen motorcycle and a couple of people trying to break into cars. Security is a huge issue here. The office has added cameras, so now there is video evidence. But it does little to deter the thieves that come, if not on a daily basis then at least a weekly one. The office has also added a security guard but I believe their job is just to show a presence in a car at the gate. I only see someone in the car at night, and I've never seen them patrolling.  Ignoring security, this could be a good place to live before covid. We were very excited about the amenities when moving in. The pool, grills, fire pit area, and gym were a huge draw. And the location, right by BART, and an easy commute to Menlo Park were a great benefit. During covid, unfortunately, none of these contribute to the experience.  Some pros:  - Maintenance is very responsive.  - The office has been helpful with everything besides on-site security.  - Large apartments.  - Large kitchens.  Some cons:  - Weekly car break-ins and motorcycle theft. Security is lacking.  - There is trash everywhere. The dumpsters spew broken glass, food scraps, and plastic all over the ground.  - Not dog friendly. I've been living in the Avalon Union city community along with my daughter for the past 3 months and we love it here! Definitely feels like home. The staff has been nothing but helpful and timely from the leasing agents to the maintenance workers. I recently locked myself out of my home and Brian Snider was there in 5 minutes to let my daughter and I back into our home. He even helped me track down my keys! What a guy! Everything that we may need from the Bart, bus, grocery store, wash house, etc. is just a hop and skip away. We love it here!!! read more

I am a resident who lives here for two years. I love how convenient the location is and Avalon has excellent service on a fast response in every meaning. BUT. Read your lease. I do not feel it is really welcome pet lovers. For example, there is a little park inside of the apartment, but it is not for your pet. I received the email from the manager it indicates: "I wanted to send another reminder out for all of our dog owners in the community. When walking your dog please take them to the exterior of the community to do their business. Once they finish their business it is your responsibility to clean up after them. Residents that can not follow these simple guidelines will be asked to remove their pets from the community." I have following response for that 1. Most dog owners DO pick up after their dog. I have two dogs, And I carry the waste bag all the time. 2. I have moved in here with dogs and the leasing office did not tell me there is an area where I could not bring my dogs. 3. Instead of telling what residents should not do, the leasing office has a lot to do, for example, set up a supervision camera, and check the record, it is easy to identify irresponsible dog owners and also increase the safety inside of the apartment. 4. Set up more lighting in the park area. It is easier to see in the night so dog owner could SEE their pet waste. 5. We also pay rent and these little areas do not only belong to people who live closer in there. SO PLEASE LET THE RESIDENT TAKE OFF THEIR SIGN. (Leasing office has noticed we do not suppose put anything in the balcony but they feel OK about it has a sign about no welcoming dogs) I asked if they know there is a sign, they say yes they do know but it is OK. Avalon does not care about you. My husband was threatened by a disturbed resident, and while Avalon was able to locate the footage, they refused to hand it over to police without a subpoena or warrant. Obviously police in this area are busy enough, and aren't going to pursue those options. It's sick. They put cameras in the garage after all the break ins, which is just a false sense of security, since I'd imagine it'd be the same subpoena/warrant issue?! They said they worked with police when the package room was broken into repeatedly, guess they just pick and choose whatever works best for them? Can't wait to move when our lease is finally up. Storage Break - Unprofessional Leasing Team Hello Residents of Avalon Union: Be aware/caution of your storage belongings. There are break-ins going on at Avalon Union Apartment. Someone broke into my storage unit September 2021. I noticed when throwing away trash, that the storage door was propped open with one of my shoes and the light was on. I proceed to push the crack door open to notice my storage room lock was removed from my storage unit and the storage unit next to mines was broken in to as well. All my items were thrown on the floor. I went downstairs to the leasing office to inform Manila Patel that there was a break-in my storage. Manila asks me what is it that I needed her to do Manila refused to come to unit to see the damages I demand Manila to come with me to my unit to see the damages (she did not want to participate) at this point I was very anger with the Leasing Team. I ask Manila to call the Police, she said NO. It wasn't their problem it was my items not theirs Once we arrived at the storage unit, Manila was surprised at what she had seen. I asked her to take pictures for evidence of the break-in. While we were there a phone begin to ring. Manila asked if it was my phone and I stated no. We both located the phone. I asked Manila to take it with her for evident and she said NO and walked out of the storage unit. I proceed to call the Union City Police to report the break-in Officer Ivan Toscano arrived at 10:30 am on that date to take a report from me and Manila. I let Manila know that Officer Toscano wanted to speak with her. Manila told me she was too busy to speak with me and the Officer. Manila was talking to PJ Yann. She totally blew me off. At that point, I was totally getting upset with the Union Avalon Leasing team. Officer Toscano came into the leasing office, asking Manila Patel and PJ Yann would they escort us to the storage unit that had been broken into. PJ Yann told Officer Toscano, he needed not to come with him only if he needs to do a police report. PJ Yann also mention that " it's not our items" it's the tenant items and they have nothing to do with it". PJ Yann stated if the storage unit is damage, they will call maintenance to fix it and the tenant is on her own. Office Toscano was concern with how the leasing managers were treating the situation and me as a resident. Office Toscano escorted me to the storage unit and was surprised at how much damaged was done and how my items were thrown everywhere. Office Toscano was looking for a camera. I told him there's no camera and he became even more concerned. Officer Toscano asked if the way to get into the units was by accessing with our black key cards. I mention to the Officer it was an inside job, because everyone who has a storage unit has personal key access not our black key card. The Officer took pictures and the cell phone that was left in the storage unit I sent an email to James Speltz (Leasing Manager over the leasing team), regarding my break-in. Mr. Speltz acted as if he was surprised at what I had told him regarding his staff behavior about the incident. This is the email I sent Mr. Speltz regarding his leasing team: "I informed your team PJ Yann and Manali Patel at the time of the incident and your incompetent staff, was very unprofessional and rule. They asked me "what is it that you want us to do, it's your items." That was the wrong answer. PJ and Manali were not cooperating with me nor Officer Ivan Toscano with the storage break-in. Your staff expressed no interest in the incident and told both me and Office Toscano it's her items and why should they be concerned about my mishap. I am very disappointed in how the situation was handled by your incompetent staff.  I need to speak with Mr. Speltz ASAP." After speaking with Mr. Speltz, about the break-in of my storage, he stated "living in Avalon Union there is a possibility you will experience break-ins", Mr. Speltz informed this area is not a good area and they have been experiencing car break-ins. This is not comforting news. This shows me that Avalon Union Apartment doesn't give a dam about their tenants. I feel unsafe knowing that the break-in was two doors down from my apartment. Be aware that Avalon Union Apartment management doesn't care about their tenants only the rent. read more

Great location, Bart, grocery stores, restaurant everything is just around the corner. Very well maintained property, with excellent staff and a huge gym with all the facilities. I know there have been some bad incidents on the property, but I have been living here from last 2 years and I have no complaints so far. I don't know why so many people are giving this place a bad review? I just moved here in August and despite what all the other reviews are saying, I haven't had any issues with noise at all. Granted, the apartment next to me is the model apt, I still have a neighbor to the left of my Apt and hear zero noise from them. I don't think anyone lives above me as it's incredibly quiet! This place is kept clean for the most part. As I walk around the complex, I must say this place feels like a decent Hotel rather than your standard apartment complex. Again, I can't seem to find any traces of this place being so "ghetto" as the other reviewers are saying! I'm really confused about that, but in any case, lets get down to what I know... The swimming pool facility is AMAZING! It's always so clean, the people who I've seen go swimming are all fairly nice people and I haven't run into any rough housing type folk either. The gym is also pretty out of this world too! I mean nearly every machine has some sort of tv attached to it so you can watch while you work out! The BBQ/Kitchen areas outside by the pool are really great for hanging out with friends or birthday parties too! You can grill out there and enjoy the pool and even adjust the built in stereo out there so you can listen to a few pre set music choices! I love the mail room too! It's inside and requires an access key to get in. It's really organized and the leasing office staff is ALWAYS so very helpful! Ruby is the one who I tend to be helped with the most and she's really nice! Cathy is there too and she's helpful as well! I haven't had any problems with any of the staff members! The other amazing thing about this location is their website "Avalon Access". It lets you pay your rent online and submit maintainence requests! Now let me tell you about that, every single time I've submitted a request, the maintainence crew has shown up either same day or next day AND they get the job done! They're very friendly too! I can't tell you all how much of a dream this place is to me! The only reason why this place isn't getting a 5 from me is the PARKING! I live on the first floor and my parking spot is on the third floor. Now this isn't TOO much of a burden to me since the parking garage is typically locked and secure, and there's an elevator to take me down, but I didn't want to pay the extra $50 a month for another parking spot in the garage. The guest parking areas are limited and they're usually ALWAYS taken up by people who just leave their cars there and never move... I've worked out a pretty smart system since directly on the street side of Avalon, you can park out there anytime after 8PM all the way until 8AM. So since I work at 8AM usually, my car is out of there by 7:30am tops! Works for me! Fridays and Saturdays are great because the Union City Bart Station has free parking on the weekends so you can just park there. It's especially great there too because everyday after 4PM to 4AM you can park there. So if you're having people over just tell them to park at the Bart (most hang outs occur after 4PM anyhow!) But yea, Parking is like the only reason why this place didn't get a 5 from me. If I only had one car, then I wouldn't mind, but I can see how others can get frustrated. read more

We lived in Avalon Union City for close to 3 years and spent our best time here. I truly miss living there. Our apartment had 2 beds 2 baths, was on the 5th floor, had in unit laundry, island in the kitchen, faced the hills and had a beautiful view of the city. They are recently constructed buildings with lots of storage space, the convenience of its location (right next to bart station, walking distance to so many shops & restaurants) & best amenities like private parking in garage, amazon hub, gym, swimming pool. The best thing about living in this community is the staff. Management staff are all very friendly & helpful. Most recently I was helped by James, Farrah, Rashmi who were very considerate & helpful. Service Staff, especially Kelvin are also very helpful. I still remember the day I moved in, the previous resident did not move out on time, so I had to wait for an extra day to move in. All the management & service staff prepared a card for me & delivered along with a cake! They also reimbursed 1 day rent for me. Thank You team Avalon Union City for making our stay beautiful & pleasant. I miss you guys! read more

Monica and Jean are awesome. They are dedicated 100% to customer service and are very responsive to all emails and calls. This complex is really nice and very quiet, with the exception of a very yappy Dogs a ways away from us. Because of the office staff, that is why I am keeping this at a 5 star. ------- 5/4/15: Went down to the parking garage to leave and as I was walking up to the Car, I saw someone had ripped my dash apart, stole my radio, broke the plastic steering column. (Those were just some of the items). Word of advice, Union City Police don't respond to calls when there's only one vehicle with damage. We are working with Management to see if we can get camera footage. We continuously Park in a well lit area 1st level of the parking garage. I will post updates. --------- 5/13/15: Management has been great at working with me on this ordeal. Found out there is a camera nearby where we park BUT..... The camera only faces the bike Room closet. So they were not able to pull any footage. Will post more as they happen. read more

We stayed at Avalon Apartments from March 2018 - August 2018 and without any exaggeration, I must say that we loved our stay there. It did not start on a very good note, though. The apartment we were supposed to move in had bed bugs and Avalon offered us some other (bigger and little expensive) apartment to move in. We negotiated and got the biggest of their apartments at a reasonable rent. The manager and staff were quite cooperative. Once we moved in, I loved it. The apartment was the biggest 2B2Bath apartment and my little one would just run around there. We never had any issues with water or packages. I always loved meeting with Ashley. he is definitely the "smiling face of Avalon". We moved out in August 2018 since we bought our home and had to break the lease. We were a bit sad as the lease break fee is 2 months of rent. However, Ashley told us about the option of allowing Avalon to look for new tenants on our behalf and it worked so well for us. They found new tenants who moved in the same month and we had to pay only for 10 extra days!! YEYYYY! I am reducing 1 star from the review since there are a couple of things that can be fixed there: - Corridor smells - Smell from the trash-bins on the back road Overall, we had a great stay there and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for bigger apartments near BART. read more

I lived here when I first moved to the bay area for about 3 years. The location is great, the quality of the apartment homes and amenities is great. Customer Service: The staff is so warm and caring. Everyone is friendly and they do their best to introduce themselves and allow you to get to know them. When new staff comes on board and leaves they let you know. If you have concern they will do their best to work with and come up with a solution. Location is nice, right next to BART. There is limited guest parking and you need to request a pass for your guests or they will get towed. There's an underground gated parking garage, but you do have to be careful as break-ins are common. There's security but I suppose they can only do so much as it only takes a few minutes for someone to tailgate and do a smash and grab. read more
