    DO NOT RENT HERE. Consider this your giant red flag. I will give you a breakdown of the past few months and you can decide yourself. I've included screenshots of emails sent by management to prove that everything I'm saying is 100 percent factual. 1. CRIME - don't let the nice facade fool you. THREE separate incidents of mail theft in the recent past (emails dated Sep 1, Nov 18 and Dec 6). Police activity for an unknown reason (email dated July 24). I believe there have also been incidents of cars being broken into (but I don't have emails for this so could just be a rumor, lets discount it), and the entrance gate to the parking garage was recently completely BROKEN down (which was not addressed by management at all in any emails that I got anyway, but it looked like a car rammed into it. I wish I had a picture). Btw, I loved their recommendation for the mail theft - pick up your packages quickly before they get stolen! 2. Critical Service interruptions - The garage exit gate broke down (Jul 13). Spa down for repairs (Sep 22). Extended water shutoff (Nov 16) AND a separate hot water shutoff (Dec 2). Main entry gate stopped working with entry remote (Dec 22). 3. Cleanliness issues - smoking is a common issue despite being a "smoke free community" (email dated Nov 12). Prepare to smell cannabis and tobacco in a lot of places. If you don't enjoy that smell, maybe pet poo in the corridors? (Jul 20). 4. Guest parking - there is a very very limited number of parking spots for guests, many of which are just used by residents as a second parking spot. Management is aware of this and the problem continues (see email Sep 24). Btw, if your guests want to park, you have to get a parking permit slip from the office, and if they've run out, and it's after hours, no guest parking for you. They will tow if you park without the permit (and yes they run out). I basically have to always ask guests to find street parking now. 5. Inaccessible management - the office door is literally always locked. If you want to speak to the property manager at all, you have to call ahead and make an appointment to do so, even if you just have a simple question. This is wild to me, and I've never seen anything like it. It's almost like they want to make it as hard as possible to get your problems actually resolved? There are numerous other issues I don't have proof for, so I won't get into it, but prepare for tons of noise because of the paper thin walls and floors and lack of carpeting, constantly overflowing trash rooms and bins, and many many other such delights. I will say one positive that is clear from all the emails - they're good about communicating all the horrible things going on. Whether these issues actually get fixed is a whole other thing. In summary - Don't live here. I expect to receive pushback from management from this review, and I'm sure more such things will keep happening, so come back to this review for updates! I will continue to spill the tea and do my part to warn the world. PS - I ran out of pictures on yelp it only allows 10 so if some emails are missing that's why - other platforms have all the pics.

    The property has went downhill since the manager James took over. I believe the property manager is racist against minorities. Here's my pros and cons. Pros: - Next to Bart - Amenities: Gym pool & hot tub BBQ grills - Decent units especially the remodel ones - Amazon lockers - Safeway and restaurants across the street Cons (buckle up): - Unfriendly office staff and unprofessional management - Marijuana smoking - Super thin walls - loud neighbors - Water always shut off - Mail and packages stolen - Car break-ins - Horrible parking - not much visitor parking - Towing company tows cars left and right - Something is always broke - cheaply built building - Management likes to cherry pick on what rules to follow and not follow - Fire alarm goes off at least twice a month - Not allowed in leasing office without appointment - No security and management doesn't care what goes on - High turnover with maintenance staff - Most of the maintenance staff is not knowledgeable and unfriendly

    The maintenance crew is very on top of it! On a Sunday I submitted a service order to get my dishwasher repaired and Angelo came in under 30 mins and got it fixed! Shoutout to Angelo, he was so friendly, followed covid protocol and got my dishwasher fixed in no time! Not to mention he was so personable as well! Would recommend the maintenance crew at Avalon! So far, a great experience with them! UPDATE: So after living here for about 7 months. My car was parking in the GATED Garage and one day, I tried to drive my car out and my catalytic converter was stolen. The main office was not of much help and took many days to respond to my emails until I finally walked in to the office to talk to them about it. They did not bear any responsibility for having a gated garage being unsafe for us residents. All they told me to do was file a police report, talk to my insurance company and they would cooperate with the Union City Police department about the investigation. I asked the office how this makes my family feel unsafe being in a Gated apartment complex with a separate gated garage. They did not show much sympathy and just said, "Unfortunately these things happen." There was no talk of how they would improve or make me feel safe in my own, so called "home"

    Not good if you have a car. You can rent if you want to claim insurance for stolen cars. Cars get stolen very often. Homeless people sleep on the floors

We had to leave this place due to safety issues such as molds, termites and ect. Talking to the front office lady (Shayna) ,she stated that mold was a common issue here which is something they should have mentioned upon us applying for the apartment. Upon talking to them they quoted us 3,000+ for moving out earlier from our move out date which was insane as we were moving out due to safety reasons. Upon them investigating, Mary (community manager) was nice enough to let us go without any charges AS IT WAS SAFETY CONCERNS! We lived here for 5 months and had so much issues from fridge not working, termites, up stairs leakage and broken fireplace. If you look at the rating of this place the maintenance is all 5 stars because you will need them almost every week due to that many issues. The termites were located at our bedroom window which we had to sleep 1 ft away from every night... They took 1 month to fix leakage on the ceiling of our shower as they kept forgetting and I had to keep begging them to fix. Please save your money and don't rent here. There are so many other places for the same or even lower of what they are offering. (There is an apartment which is right across the street with washer and dryer in unit for a similar price!) I was not planning on writing a review but I was hoping maybe I can save someones time from this place. I waited for almost a year for my security deposit which I got in the mail today for $0.65. CRAZZZY, not even a dollar! Anyways I would not write this much without proof or receipts. Thank you for reading and good luck apartment hunting!

Units were clean and maintained fairly well. Our unit had older windows but manny of the others have newer style windows. Our only downside to living here was the location of our unit. We happen to be right next to the pool which can get noisy during warmer days. There's also a bit of noise from the street with some louder cars that drive by or race down Jarvis. For us it's loud but many of the other buildings don't have any of those noise issues. Weather in Newark is always cooler than the rest of the east bay and there's usually a nice breeze that comes through to keep air moving. We were happy hear for the most part for 2 years but our family is growing and it's time for a bigger place.

Fast forward to July 2020 and we were able to break our lease and move into one of the newer apartment units here at Bridge Bay and we absolutely love it! We used to pay ~$150 in Trash, Water, and Sewer fees per month. Here at Bridge Bay, water & garbage are inclusive, our rent is almost $700 less and our home is 100% cozier than our previous apartment. We were also lucky enough to receive a move-in special which was a bonus! The neighborhood feels safe and friendly. The Property Manager, Luz, is super sweet! She's very responsive, informative and helpful. The Maintenance guy, Alvaro, is also very friendly, helpful and efficient. Management at the last complex was ever changing, slow to respond and condescending. So, we're very hopeful and happy to have such a great team here. One of our "must haves" was to have a washer/dryer in our unit. Having to use shared laundry facilities was initially a concern for us, but the laundry room is only 20 steps away, clean, and well-kept. At our previous apartment we had a W/D in unit but they were junior appliances. The W/D's here at Bridge Bay are commercial grade; 5-6 loads used to take us all day to do laundry... Now we only have to do 1-2 loads and it only takes 2 hours at most. The parking options are amazing and close to your unit, and there's also plenty of street parking nearby too. The community is very well lit which is a plus. Being less than five minutes away from supermarkets, eateries, gas stations and the freeway is also very appealing. Bottom line is- we wish we moved into Bridge Bay from the get go, but now we have a genuine appreciation for this place. We plan on staying here for awhile!

    It's now the middle of September and I went there in June to get pricing for a 1 or 2 bedroom…read moreapartment that I would only need for 7 months. ONLY 7 MONTHS! I made sure that I told the apartment manager from the time I walked in, to the time that they had me pay for 2 applications + "convenience charge". I even kept repeating that this was only for 7 months, because I'm getting my house fixed. The woman, who was new, assured me that they could rent for 7 months. Lo and behold, I get home and an hour later, the apartment manager called and said, "remember when I told you that I was new and still learning? Well, i made a mistake and we don't rent for just 7 months..sorry". I was irritated because i cancelled other appointments I had with apartments to view. I asked her that since it was her mistake, I would like a refund on both my application + service charge and for my husband's application charge + service charge. She said she's work on it and then emailed me to say they got it approved for refund, EXCEPT the service charges. Now it is the middle of September and then only refunded one amount, bur not the other. I have confirmation email saying they's refund both. Money doesn't grow on trees and I have run out of patience. Makes me feel like I dodged a bullet with not getting this apartment if they are this shady.

    LOVE. Living. At. The Marc…read more We have been living at the Marc for almost three years (and just renewed for a fourth!) and couldn't be happier here. Coming from a world of New York luxury high rises, our bar was set very high. We totally fell in love with the Marc. First off, the building's location can't be beat - just two blocks away from University Ave: you get all the action while having calm surroundings. Second, the apartments are great - spacious, well maintained and the balconies are incredible. We are on the west side and literally get amazing sunsets every night. It doesn't really matter that the building is several decades old - the apartments have been updated and Ruffino and the maintenance crew will take care of any issues. Third, amenities are terrific - pool, barbecues, gym (just renovated a few weeks ago!). Finally: the community. Hats off to Linda - master property manager - who has created an incredible community of people who want to hang out with each other! There are regular mixers at the Marc that are very well attended and our neighbors are genuinely nice and friendly people. All the above points make for a great place, but this brings it over the line as a one-in-a-million place. If you come meet Linda or Larissa to inquire about a unit and life at the Marc and if that wasn't enough to convince you, just say hi and ask around to any of the neighbors you meet up in the hallway. Everyone will be delighted to tell you how awesome it is to live here! Here's to many more great times at the Marc!
