PTG manufactures extremely high quality tools and gauges that are the gold standard in precision rifle shooting. Chances are if you have a custom rifle the chamber reamer came from PTG. They custom make everything so there is a minimum 4-8 week lead time. These are extremely complicated and precise tools used to make precision rifles, so average firearms enthusiasts in the precision rifle world will probably not understand what PTG does. I have personally purchased many chamber reamers, resize reamers, and headspace gauges and several rifles I have that use Stiller Actions have PTG bolts. PTG replacement bolts are almost the ubiquitous option for a trued Remington 700 action. You have to know what your doing before you order, if you don't understand any of the concepts then ask your smith to help explain what these tools do and why. First of all , don't believe anything that shows in stock regarding Remington bolts ,bottom metal and parts. Don't expect service from their sales staff. Response to email and frankly ,if you call you will get some hilarious responses that are purely comical and never the same from day to day. Even from the same My stock Remington bolt took 13 emails and four calls from me. The bottom metal I have no answers for has shown in stock for 17 days and I have no idea what the status is? RUN. Take your business elsewhere. I ordered a 284 Winchester reamer and talked to the man; he said it was on the shelf and he would get it out that day. Reamer arrive in timely manner so my gunsmith cut the chamber. Many rounds later I figured out( you know who) sent me a tight neck Sheehan reamer. I ordered a Savage model 10 bolt handle; NO PRIMARY EXTRACTION. The primary extraction cam is .050 too small. Sent it back and dozens of phone calls later still getting the run around ...ie. tech not here today; engineer went home sick; you have to talk to sales; they are in a meeting, etc. There are many great tooling companies out there, PTG is not one of them. read more

I would highly recommend buying anything from literally anywhere else. The website is wrong with inventory numbers. I read many reviews prior to purchasing and decided to call to verify stock before my purchase. I was told to hold while they verify stock. Once back on the line they said that all was good. Then i got a call some weeks later telling me that they would be delayed as they did not have the item in stock......ok but at least i have a ship date. Part arrived weeks late only to have the wrong accessories included. I called and was told to call back and ask for a specific person. I did that and was told that they did not have the correct parts in stock so they just threw one in that should work. What?! They could not get me the right parts and told me they would have to call me back to sort it out. I told them not to bother. The 2nd bolt I've ordered and several chambers using their reamers. Excellent service to assure my order was right. Sure the bolts are built to order and take time, 2 to 4 months, but since I don't live in my parents basement I can wait for the quality I want. Quality is becoming a lost art and quality is value. I placed an order on 2/15/2023 that I knew was a custom order and as their website stated could take up to 10 weeks to produce. On 3/9/2023, I sent a message to status@pacificetoolandgauge.com as recommended on their website. I got no response at all. On 5/11/2023, I called and asked for a status. I was told, that it would go out tomorrow. On 5/25/2023, I called to ask for a tracking number or something. What I got was that it was never produced or shipped. I told PTG that if I couldn't have it by 5/30/2023 to cancel my order. They created a shipping label on 5/26 but it didn't ship until 5/30/2023. It showed up on 6/1/2023. No accountability or communication! How can you run a company like this? Over promise and under deliver seems to be their mission statement. Do they make quality stuff, yes. Will I ever order from them again? NEVER! I only wish I would have read these reviews prior to my order. Seems like Dave give 0 f's. read more

1 star is just too much. After ordering a simple, small metal part with an estimated delivery of 6-8 weeks, well then its 8-10, then 10-12..now guess what. 15-16 weeks. - No info whatsoever on this from the company other than just waiting weeks and weeks past the stated delivery time. I understand things happen and can get held up but when were looking at more than DOUBLE the original time you should at least give someone a call and a heads up. At minimum send an email. So all the weeks overdue, I finally call, and call and call and call because they just instantly put you on hold and after 3.5 mins you get a message that all the mailboxes are full and you are placed into a loop of "press # for such and such" which all lead to full mailboxes and right back to "press such and such" When you FINALLY get a hold of someone (apparently they have a constant bombardment of pissed off patrons) you MIGHT get lucky enough to get some info. I just found out my part (already over a month overdue) will be at least another month. In all of this I was neve sent an email or anything. I was just simply left hanging to wonder what was going on (after all they take your money IMMEDIETLY and then you hear NOTHING) PTG is far from the only place to buy parts and quite frankly I think they have gone down hill in recent years. If you don't mind handing off your money and getting your stuff WELL AFTER (as in....months) the stated time to deliver, then more power to you. There are plenty other places to buy pretty much every thing they make, with MUCH better customer service and not all of the "just wait and see" attitude towards a customers order. I don't give PT&G as a whole one star, because I order regularly from them and while the tools / parts I get are usually of high quality (but take forever to receive), my last experience was simply the worst (zero stars if I were able)!!! Without writing a novel on the subject, it came down to this - Action / receiver not working correctly - phone calls and emails for more than 2 months before they made an attempt (weak at best) to communicate. Understand I have a phone log of MANY calls and a fat SENT E-mailbox that went unresponded to. They have a SEVERE internal and external communication problem. This is my observation and that of one of the employees I spoke with. So, per their request, I sent the receiver back - they could not find it, then they never called or notified me that they did find it. Again, again and again, I initiated communications. After three more months later of pulling teeth and dealing with the shop floor supervisor - the epitome of a real used car salesman, the problem remains unresolved. This caused an issue with my customer who ordered a specific type of custom build gun and will now have to adjust his order (when you order a custom rifle, you want exactly what you want - cause they are not cheap). I stated to the supervisor that I did not have the patience to drive this any further (but did not share I was about to lose my professional demeanor). I stated the solution I wanted (not asking for any gains, but a simple exchange of parts and they pay shipping). Three emails and a phone call later, I am still trying to obtain the shipping label that they agreed to. I am not concerned whether it cost .50 or $500 to ship, they will cover the cost. For the time and effort I have put into this I can easily say that I have lost more than the value of any of the parts causing this issue (PLUS). I will not recoup any profit from the sale of this custom rifle. Mr. Kiff, You have a HUGE undertaking in instilling / correcting the mindset / philosophy / communication ethos of your company. I say that as a former quality employee for a very large manufacturing company and former Regional Distribution Manager for a seven point hub and spoke distribution system (now self employed). An independent consulting firm might turn out to be a valid option. I ordered an "in stock" set of 308 headspace gauges. 3 months later I contact them and am told that they are in the shipping department. 4 months later they finally ship and I had to call to get a tracking number because they dont reply to emails. this business makes some high quality reamers and other tools for rifles. I ordered a 50 alaskan reamer for a customer project of mine. unfortunately my order took a lot longer than the 6-8 weeks due to a production issue, which is a bummer, but as with anything when it comes to actually making tooling, I'd rather wait to have a piece that is quality, than get something that had issues with it or wasn't up to snuff. what I will say, is that the ladies I talked to on the phone (jessica, larue, gabrielle, and a couple others who's names escape me) were pretty helpful and willing to try to figure out what was going on with my order, and were what i would describe as being concerned for where my order was (due to it being overdue) and pleasant to talk to on the phone, which is really helpful when you're calling long distance to a parts manufacturer and you're trying to not only figure out where a part is, but what to tell a customer who's asking about their rifle build . due to the service I received, I would say that I'm likely to be a return customer, even though my order took a lot longer to get here (the 50 Alaskan reamer, btw guys/gals at ptg, looks great and will help me immensely!) thanks to the ladies who helped me figure out what was going on during this whole process! read more

As of right now its been four months since i ordered my go no go gauges ( which were supposedly in stock). If i am able to get ahold of customer support, and that is a strong if, i get told that my items are supposed to ship by x date. Which they do not. I just had a nightmare of an experience with ordering a DBM ( detachable bottom metal. I went through the chart they have and ordered the remaining 700 SA one that was to be a drop in or close. I received it in a timely manor. I was told that my legacy int'l mags would function with it when I called and gave my info off my order sheet.I received the wrong mag called them they gave me a return number for ups, went to UPS they said it wouldn't work so had to pay. I got a call from the owner Dave Kilff and he was so nice and he said he understood and said I needed an ACID MAG. I was called by Dave later saying he had 27 Accurate mags done and I could get one of those if I wanted as they were basically the same. I knew AICS name is worth more but I said sure send me one. I was the charged the difference between the polymer and AICS MAG. I RECEIVED THAT AND IT WAS WRONG.It was to long for my mag. I called Dave and this time he was not so nice to me. OK zI was also frustrated also.Now he said to send in my stock and the other two mags and they would find the right mag. So, I'm thinking they will see the DBM and know which is the right mag. I get a call from a machine operator and he said he read all the 4 different invoices Andy explicit expl a nation of my situation. He said he would take care of it and it would be mailed out on Friday. On Tues I get a bill for $165.00 and change.!!! Now I already paid for the DBM the mag I paid for.!! Now I get a email and call and speak to a nice lady and explain to please let Dave know as he must be familiar with me by now. I get a call from another person the next day Wednesday asking for my credit card to pay so they can mail my stock and DBM W/MAG back. Great!! I complain to him and he says he will go see Dave and see if he can get something done. He mentions a $50.00 discount and I didn't say anything. Then I get a bill with that zeroed out the next day. Finally I say they do have customer service after all. WRONG!!! THE NEXT day I get a bill for $150.00 for inletting the stock.which should have not been inletted as it did not need it which I verified when I received it as nothing had been machined!!!!! Now I just need to go put it together and hope it functions. Now that I look back I wish I never bought this DBM and ordered it from Stocks Stocks even if they make them for Sticks at least I know I would get the right one. Do not send money to these criminals expecting anything more than phone calls not returned and your money stolen. They have a LONG storied history of stealing from people and have stolen from me. They deliver sub par product when they don't flat out steal your money. Set your money on fire and throw it into a dumpster before sending it to these criminals. I sent them a cert for DBM I won at a match signature required. They acknowledged the received the cert. I spent 2.5 months dealing with the rude ladies on the phone before just writing this off as a lost cause. You will never find a more rude group of hateful folks than PTG. I used to love this place, but since the pandemic you can't get product from them or straight answers. I ordered and paid for a set of Headspace gauges, go and no-go for 30-06 Springfield on April 10th, 2021. This is far from a custom part made that is out of the norm. The Part was in stock when ordered. I can't get a straight answer when this will ship, instead I get "Ok I sent in some order info request on it so give the shop guys 2-3 days till they give me the info regarding to that order" or "I'm getting with their project manager today. I will let you know what they tell me on that order." I know they make parts to order but common items should be always on the shelf and if you say it is in stock then it should be. It is now June 26, 11 weeks later and still no product and no answers when it will be shipped. As stated I used to LOVE this place but now it is the last place I go to! Sad because it is easy to communicate with your customer but they seem to not have any interest or care for their customers. I would not recommend this place any more. read more

RIPOFF - DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CROOKS!!!!!! I bought a trigger guard for a Rem 700 online. When I received it the part it did not fit. The part they sent me was about 1/2 inch too long and too wide. It was clear that this wasn't the correct part. I spoke with Miranda through email and she sent me a return shipping label to send the item back. It has been over a month now and I still have not received a refund. I should have read the reviews on Google and Yelp before I purchased anything from this place. The good: The workmanship on the parts (in this case: bolt body, bolt head, bolt screw lift kit) was good quality. Finish was acceptable (not superior, but good quality). The Bad: Invoices sent over time, order split into 3 orders and invoiced separately AFTER sending an invoice with a total for the entire order. The amounts on the invoices don't match the actual charges to my CC. Not a huge difference, usually less than a dollar. BUT THEY DON'T MATCH! On top of that the price structure is high for what you get. I don't mind paying a bit more than the going rate for quality and service. But when all I get are average quality with urine poor service it isn't worth it. The Ugly: Customer service, accounting practices... SUCK. They don't return calls in a timely manner, if at all. Email conflicts with actual experience... every time. They most certainly DON'T deliver when the state they will (both verbally and in writing). Still waiting on the last part of the order 3 days after the last PROMISED delivery time. Not even a confirmation of shipping or email to explain the delay (which I requested verbally and in an email). Conclusion? I won't ever use them again. Too bad, decent products but major fail in all other aspects of their business. The 2 stars are only due to the products being good quality. If not for that I would give negative stars! Save yourself the time, trouble and headache. Find a different vendor or have it done locally by a machinist in your area. Based on their cost you could do it locally for the same money and deal with a human in person. read more

I just got burned with their bottom metal for a Ruger M77 Hawkeye Long action. I could deal with the in-letting required on the stock, but what they don't tell you and they know this, is that you must inlet the rifle's action. This is why they won't let you return it, so when you find out after the fact, there is nothing you can do about it. Very poor business practice. They do make quality stuff, so I'll just take the $$ hit. CDI Precision is getting my business. I'll only use PTG only if it is an off the shelf item going forward. Also it took them over 3 weeks to ship an "in stock" item and I only got it that fast because I called and questioned them, their email stated 7-10 days. read more

I bought some bottom metal form these guys, they said their item is made to tighter tolerances than factory. The bottom metal I got was way oversized and no way it had any chance of fitting without a lot of milling by a gun smith. Their description is very misleading and best of all they do not take any returns on bottom metal. Don't take a chance on these guys. There are other places to get quality gun parts, with accurate descriptions and who also take returns. They really need better descriptions and to take returns when customers are not happy with their oversized components. Of course if they made them to fit, they wouldn't have problems with customers returning parts! read more

Pretty straight forward questions regarding diameter, thread size/pitch and overall length as I was looking at finishing the machine work as well as ordering additional items. Reply was less than impressive with no useable information or answers to the questions I asked. It seemed like my inquiry was more of a nuisance for them to deal with than a potential customer looking to source materials and foster an on-going relationship. Replied to their response hoping for clarification on the answers they gave and for the original information I wanted. Days later, crickets, nada, nothing. Below is text from an email sent to PTG regarding an order placed for a recoil lug. As expected this email was not responded to giving further evidence to their lack of customer concern. This company appears to produce high quality products but lacks the acumen for internet sales and customer service. I would recommend that they consider removing their online sales and conduct business as a supplier to distributors only. I had my gun shop order a recoil lug that was indicated to be in-stock on your web site. After a couple of weeks without delivery we checked into the order and discovered that this item is now back-ordered and would take 6-8 weeks for delivery. This issue has been reported to you on several occasions, according to the reviews on the internet, and you seem to care very little or none at all and have failed to address it. This order was cancelled and another order was placed for a lug that listed an inventory quantity and expedited shipping was added for this order. After another week of no part delivery a call was placed to customer service and we were told that "if we would have read the small print" we would know that the company has 5 to 7 business days to process an in stock order. That statement alone indicates a lack of concern for customer satisfaction and the fact that you have "small print" indicates that you are aware of your shipping ineptitude. We were also told that the item was sitting in shipping ready to go out and the person would ensure that the item would be shipped out on Wednesday, April 3. With expedited shipping the package should have arrived no later than Saturday. The part was not delivered again on Saturday. On Monday I finally received the lug only to find out that your company had shipped the item to the billing address and not the ship to address as on the invoice. It appears that there is a profound deficiency in your ability to ship. I now understand all of the negative reviews that are so easy to find on the internet and am sure that this one added to the others will have no effect on you, but know that I will not do business with you again and will recommend that no person that I speak with does business with you either. read more

back in 2008, I bought a lot from pacific tool. Dave is a rockstar. However, since that time I've watched what I can only suggest is a company in a death spiral. I can't imagine they are fluffing to be bought by someone else. Screwing up orders, taking money and not responding isn't really a viable sales tactic for a company....or perhaps I missed that note in HBR. If this were a commodity, I'd tell a different story, but it's not. perhaps the fools in the boardroom forgot that. it's a high touch product, requires service, expertise, support. Wanna fix it? I know how. I've turned around many of these things.
