The food is absolutely delicious. I got a pineapple coconut rice dish. My boyfriend got a curry coconut dish, and mom got a shrimp and green pepper dish. Everything was so good. They are accommodating with gluten free options. When asking the guy who took our order for help, he wasn't very helpful asking about dishes. We ate there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Looks pretty much like an ordinary take-out from the outside, but inside there are nice tables & real (multi-page in a hardcover book) menus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also gave us decent chopsticks, which are wood but much better quality than you get in most restaurants these days. The food is awesome. We're not very familiar with Thai (except Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles) so we ordered 4 different dishes in 2 visits, all excellent. There are many more items we want to try so we'll be back. Tea is an extra $1 per cup, which I object to as it's normally always part of the meal in Asian restaurants, but the prices for the food are moderate so it's not a major objection. For around 8 bux I got a water, rice, and a chicken massamum delivered. The onions in the dish were just a tad undercooked and developed into the dish but the rice was a lil crunchy... not really fond of that. I would rate them 8/10) Shrimp wonton soup (4-5 hand-pinched, dumpling style wontons with thin dough and very generous shrimp filling, in a light broth topped with fresh scallions and cilantro... the broth was very mild and needed a little more flavor, but overall it was very good... 8/10) Chicken Pad Thai x 2 - 1 regular, 1 extra-extra spicy (small portion of perfectly cooked noodles, thinly sliced chicken, cubed tofu, fresh bean sprouts, chopped peanuts and a wedge of lime... this dish was very good, although the extra-extra spicy order was not spicy at all... the portion was also very small, even for a lunch special... 8/10) Overall, we were very impressed with this restaurant. This place is great. It's a small little place in a shopping center that you might easily miss, but you'll be glad you didn't. The decor is kind of eclectic with average Asian flair and it's not the most "upscale" looking place I have ever seen. But the food's taste and quality ,and the level of service, more than make up for this fact. The food is served on a plate with a big banana leaf which is kind of cool, and you get a free bottled water with your meal. A nice touch. Be sure to try to Thai Iced Tea or Thai Coffee, which I don't think is on the menu. You can eat in or take out here as well as choose between Thai and Chinese. But why get Chinese here? There are so many things on this menu that each time I go it's a real tough choice as what to get. Do I stick with old favorites that never fail to impress me? Or do I try something new? That's the only problem I have with this place, too many good things to choose from. But if you don't know what to get, I'd say get #17 on the menu. Mee Ga Thi. Coconut Noodles with chicken, shrimp, mushrooms. If I were on death row, there's a good chance this might be my chosen last meal. On weeknights this place is usually pretty filled up. I respectfully disagree with Franks post below, this place is not the pizza place of thai food, its the walmart of thai food. Perhaps I've been spoiled, but this place was well below my expectations, I tried it twice, too! It's small, clean and quaint. No frills ...which is 100% fine with me. However, the thing that struck me the most was the super-low quality of the meat. The chicken especially. I actually took the chicken out of my tom ka gai soup and ate just the broth. The chicken satay didnt even have peanut sauce to dip in either. What was there was a watery concation of peanut-mayonnaise tasting substances. Ergh. The pad thai that I ate the first time here was a-okay... but it tasted greasy. Since I've been here, I've made it a point not to trust restaurants that serve both Chinese and Thai food. read more

I've been frequenting this place over the past 3 years and have explored the entire menu. Location is in a shopping center where there is also a small production play theater that you could possibly attend after your delicious meal at this restaurant. The place is small and intimate. There are only about a dozen or so tables, with most of the customers purchasing take out. It is set up like like a Chinese take out with the opportunity to dine in and be waited on. Intimate seating and lighting. On to the food. I always test a Thai place by trying the basics first. Tom yum goong spicy shrimp soup for starters. Pad Thai and pad see Yu as entrees. The soup was vey flavor full with just the right kick of spicy. The pad Thai is very tasty with the noodles cooked just right and just the right amount of pad Thai sauce that didn't drench the Noodles not leave them dry. To me the portion was on the smaller side for the price paid. Same goes for the pad see Yu. It was flat rice noodles cooked right and not overcooked. Good amount of chicken and veggies, but again portion seemed a bit small. The one surprise on the menu that we found to be a delight was the pineapple coconut friend rice. It was a wonder of flavors. The rice seemed to be cooked in a coconut milk and then veggies added with pineapple and topped with peanuts. It was southeast Asian heaven. Dessert, we went with the sticky rice and mango. This is always hit or miss depending on how ripe the mango is. For the most part, you can't go wrong having this. The sticky rice is a wonderful compliment to have with the sweetness of the tropical fruit. Wait service - we had a gentleman who seemed to be an owner or manager. He was very attentive and polite. Had a cross between Thai and Chinese food between the people in my party. The mini spring rolls were good but a little greasy and very bready. Could have used more of the filling (which was great) and less bread. The dipping sauce was excellent. Tom Kha soup was spicier than I am used to but was fantastic! A good portion of it too. Pad See Ew was among the best I've had of that dish! Fresh broccolini and great favor. Chicken with tofu excellent as well, great portion size, and the sauce was very good, nice garlicky flavor! Our orders were accurate and didn't take too long. I just wish they were a little more attentive when we had our entrees, just to check in. Ugh, this is the Chinese take out version of Thai food. At first I thought that I was getting sick since none of my food had any taste (I ordered a Thai iced tea, chicken curry, and tom ka gai soup). Well, it's not my taste buds that are defective (I just ate a cupcake at home and it was delish!). Everything was bland and the chicken was a weird combination of dry/stringy/hard grossness. The portions were very small, which could have been a blessing in disguise since there was less food to suffer through. I really don't know what to think about the positive reviews that this place received. It was very good. The Thai iced tea was delicious. I had beef with string beans and mushrooms. It was fantastic .It could possibly be the best beef I've had. It was not the Chinese dish but the Thai dish. Food is very flavorful. My husband had the duck he said it was very good. We also had the Thai coconut soup with chicken. A bowl full of flavorful broth. Really tasty.. They don't have a big restaurant it's small but quaint. I would definitely go back . This time I'll go at lunch time to get one of there lunch specials. This place went through a change think back in 2009 or so because the indonesian/malaysian left and since then the food hasn't tasted the same. I'll give them some credit for recently adding specials that sound good. We ordered the hibachi beef rib with bone, pad see yu, jumbo shrimp and coconut chicken soup. Pad see yu was pretty good as usual and the kids like the jumbo shrimp (looked more like medium shrimp). Now we wanted to try something new so we ordered the hibachi beef rib with bone from the Today's Specials Menu (The Salt and Pepper Squid looked good too) and before they brought out the dish they turned on one of the vents. Now if you want a show stopper order this dish because once the waiter everyone was staring at us and asking what the hell we ordered once the WHOLE RESTURANT was filled with smoke because of the sizzling plate that the beef was sitting on. The resturant looked more like backroom gambling hall were everyone was smoking a cigar. Once the plate was on our table everyone bolted for the door because who want their clothes to smell like chinese food? :) Well the beef (riblets) were little on the tough side but flavorfull and a lot of peppers and onions which my wife liked. Pad Thai is the PIZZA PLACE of THAI FOOD, meaning it's affordable and you don't have to dress up to sit and eat... Although their menu has half Chinese and half Thai cuisine, it's all about the Thai food. I know their most popular item is the PAD THAI, but I recommend the MEE GA-THI (spicy stir fried coconut noodles w/chicken, and baby shrimp) or the KHAO PAHD SUPPAROT (cocnut fried rice with chicken and peanuts). This place is a hidden gem. the decor inside is impeccable, food is to DIE for, service is quick and the people are super friendly. Takeout or dine-in you can't go wrong. I've never had take-out stay so crispy, they definitely treat everything with care. My favorites (so-far) are: the "Pineapple Coconut Fried Rice" (which I must go back for once a month minimum! if this wasn't so damn good I'm sure I'd have tried most of the menu by now), the "Shrimp Wrapped Noodle" (which is really noodle wrapped shimp, crispy and delicious sauce) the "Mee Ga-Thi" spicy coconut noodles and chicken (different but still very tasty) and the "Indian Pancake" which is a dessert with like ground nuts and some sweet filling wrapped in flaky pastry... never had anything like it before or since... dynamite. I've been coming here sporadically since 2009. While I've never tried the Chinese menu, the Thai food is great, in my opinion. I especially love the duck dishes, which have great veggies, fruit (the mango one), and delicious big chunks of crispy fried duck. I have had similar duck dishes at other thai places, and the duck was mushy, and tasted like it was sitting around or not fried right. I have found the staff here to be very friendly and attentive. The dining room is small, but it is a hidden gem, that would probably be busier at a different location (downtown sayville or port jeff). Prices are very reasonable too. read more

Decent but not great. I get the feeling that they're hanging on by a thread. Cheap white mushrooms now replace the straw mushrooms that used to be in the chicken coconut soup. Ok, I've had an on and off relationship with this restaurant. When it first opened up, I gave it a try. I was so happy that a Thai restaurant opened close to my home. I ordered the massamum curry and I found a fly wing in it. I noticed that the kitchen had sticky fly paper and that is probably how I got my healthy helping of protein that day. Because of this I did not order from this place for years. I then recently tried this place again, and I have been mostly satisfied. Here's what I've noticed: The massamum curry had black/burnt potatoes in it once, very odd. However, this is one of my favorites. I usually order this. I've tried The calamari salad and it was covered in sauce; very overwhelming. I've tried the Duck and found it very fatty and greasy. "Where's the meat?!" I found myself saying. I love the soups! They are delish. Always what I expect. The Pad Thai is good; however, the little prawns they put into it still have their dirt vein along for the ride, so if this does not bother you then by all means enjoy. The mango dessert is nice, especially when you drizzle the marachino cherry/coconut ramekin over the sweet, sticky rice. I will continue to try new things from this place; however the times I have tried, I was disappointed. So if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to know! PS I have celiacs disease and they abide by my request for "NO SOY SAUCE" on my food, which is nice. read more

I don't believe this is a five star restaurant but I love the creativity and variety or the menu I also like the level of cleanliness in this space. It's a small place but it's also well managed. I usually get the shrimp fried rice and shrimp wontons I heard the red snapper is really good there but I haven't giving it a try. Feels like Chinese but it's very welcoming when you actually walk in, this is why I believe it's five stars. Because it exceeds the competition in almost all categories. Atmosphere and service leave much to be desired, but It doesn't really matter, since you are getting such good food-good prices too!
