A solid 4.25 stars for our dinner tonight. We ordered takeout, but upon arrival we had a few minutes to kill and thought it would just be easier to eat at a table. Ordered off of DoorDash. I was expecting that the food need to be reheated (it happens with delivery ‍). Unfortunately my delivery driver showed up just as my aging dog had an accident in the house. I literally cleaned up after her and reheated my food and it was still delicious! A lot of times reheated Asian noodles are just mush but def not the case here! 100% will try again (and hopefully eat fresh fresh food). Not sure why some recent reviews have included how this place no longer tastes the same! However, I used to go to this place many years ago and recently have been going back to them and still tastes as delicious as I remembered!!! Food: Pad thai and Drunken noodles is what we usually get! THE PORTION it is HUGE you get what you pay for! Flavor is always ON POINT! Pad Thai is a bit orange colored which what made me skeptical but it is flavorful and has the right taste of sweetness and saltiness. It is not dry or too runny like most places. Most places mistaken pad Thai to be salty! Price: The price range is between 10-12$ it is so cheap compared to so many places like Farmhouse, Nine dang, Eem, etc, that never does their pad Thai dish with justice and overpriced! This place typically does make very good Thai food with the exception of not enough heat, but this time it was okay. Why just 'okay?'. I'm not a fan of green bell pepper in my Thai food... the thing is, I am Thai. Regardless, Pad Thai Kitchen still has the ability to serve very tasty food. Just not this time. I have an issue with Auto-Grat , I was having dinner with my brother, his 3 year old daughter, my mom and my twin 10 year old daughters when we finished I looked at the total of $89 and added a $20 gratuity without much . It was only after picking up the guest check and credit card receipt that I became aware the server added the gratuity. #1 as a courtesy, tell the guest you added the gratuity. I dont know what has changed at this restaurant lately. I used to think this was reliably good Thai food, but my last order was just not good on any level. Like other reviewers have said - the pad thai was covered in too much overpowering sauce and the flavour was sweet savory vinegary - but not what I remember Pad thai being. Blazing fast service. Ordered online, and the food was done in less than 15 minutes. I walked over from my vacation rental next door after 12-13 minutes, and it was already ready!! Portions were large. Tasty, everything was well prepared. Prices were very reasonable, and they seem to do a ton of carry out. I saw about 8 bags on the table ready to be picked up. I stopped by to fulfill a Thai craving. The staff are super friendly, and the food comes out super fast. Everything was very fresh. I got the Tofu Pad Thai with hot spice level. It was okay over all. There were lots of chunks of tasty tofu, and the noodles were cooked just right. I just didn't find it to be as flavorful as I would have liked, as it was predominantly just sweet flavors. For true spice maniacs, I would recommend going for Thai Hot or whatever is the next level, as "hot" wasn't very hot. You get plenty of food, so I easily transformed my leftovers into what I wanted with a bit of chili garlic sauce. Overall, not too shabby. I heard their Drunken Noodles are better, so I look forward to coming back some time. read more

I'm totally a fan. I was out for a "treat yo self" night of Shakespeare in the Park (Lone Fir Cemetery) and needed a lovely dinner to accompany my show. I did a Yelp search and Pad Thai Kitchen popped up. I walked over in a flash and was welcomed as soon as I stepped through the door by super friendly staff. I let them know I was ordering to go and was handed a menu. I went for Drunken Noodles with chicken (spice level medium), and a Thai iced coffee. I was not disappointed. The noodles were perfectly spicy and the portion was huge, I had plenty leftover for lunch. The iced coffee was sweet and flavorful and definitely gave me a big energy boost (maybe not the best choice at 8pm .) I would absolutely recommend this place, and will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. read more

I've been going here forever but their Pad Thai game is seriously weak right now. Tasted like ketchup, sugar and soy sauce. I ordered SPICY and it had zero heat. It's always been consistently pretty good...this was a great disappointment. With so much Thai competition I hope they try to get better. The Pad Prik King is quite tasty, very healthy portions of green beans and is excellent with the beef. Curries are average. The big portions really are the biggest advantage here. I had the pork pad khee mao noodles and it was excellent! The pork was actually grilled to add another layer of flavor. To me that shows love and passion about what you are doing. We saw this on Google restaurants and decided to take a chance. I'm so glad we did. They have just opened up the distance dining-in. They have a cute little patio that we sat in to eat. The food was AMAZING! It was a great place to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary. The sticky rice and mango was the best I have ever had! Huge portions, and that's mostly why the three stars. Now when it came to the flavor, my kids and I were not thrilled. The pad Thai didn't even have peanuts? And the sauce was lacking as it tasted bland. The fried rice was a bit better but still on the plain side. Great place for Thai carryout - huge portions, quick service, reasonable prices. Somewhat uneven food quality. Walked in and ordered carryout last night for four. The portions were so big we had enough for lunch today, so when considering the prices take that into consideration (though from what I saw the carryout portion sizes were larger than the eat-in). Some dishes were tremendous: the pineapple fried rice was the best the diner said he's ever had. My wife had the house special curry - it was wonderful with lots of veggies. I had the seafood (shrimp & squid) pad thai. The sauce was very "catsup-y" in flavor, and I could have used more flavor ingredients. There was plenty of seafood, and a sprinkle of shredded carrots and some sprouts. Could have used some veggies for color and flavor. We also had an order of the Rock-and-roll spring rolls - I thought they were a little heavy on the lettuce. The mango sticky rice was good, but not great. I'd like to go back and try some of their other curries and specialty dishes, as they have an interesting menu. read more

I ordered pineapple fried rice with pork and paid extra to have extra pork in it. Gave me chicken with the pineapple fried rice.. not pork. That's a major f*ck up. The type of protein you order is extremely important as there are people who don't eat pork and there are people who are very allergic to shellfish and there are vegans and vegetarians who only want tofu. The pineapple fried rice also had very very little pineapple and it wasn't really like fried rice it was more like steamed rice with additives. Don't ever order the pineapple fried rice here. On a good note the pad thai was very good I was very pleased and it actually did have shrimp in it which is what I ordered. Although I really like the pad thai I will never patronize this place again I don't want to have to worry about whether or not my order is going to be prepared as ordered. Here are my complaints: The water's too cold and the booth is too low when you're eating in. That's it. If I was trying to find something else wrong, maybe I'd complain that the pad Thai is perfect with lime, but too sweet without -but that complaint is only for those who don't know to put the lime on the dish. The fried rolls taste like heaven, the fresh rolls are expertly wrapped and filled. The house curry is divine - somehow a perfect blend of spice where you'll notice there's a tingle, but not at all too spicy. The service is friendly, kind, efficient, and attentive. Been eating here for around five years and it remains one of my favorites for many reasons. First is the staff is always quick and friendly. By quick I mean you will literally see them running when they get busy. Secondly almost everything I've ever ordered from here has been fresh, very flavorful with large portions, one entree could easily feed two. The rock n roll spring rolls are always loaded with basil and crisp veggies. The beef Pad See Ew is a treat, lots of broccoli, rich flavor. We actually had to get up and leave our table to request service. It was just consistently slow. Friendly staff. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion size. No complaint there. I learned the hard way this place goes heavy on the spice. I don't have a tolerance for spicy food so I ordered mild and I was uncomfortable, nose running, needing lots of water. I couldn't finish my food. I actually asked if I was really given mild since my whole tabled ordered much spicier. I thought maybe it was a mistake. My friends who really like spicy food were super pleased with the level of spice. My husband thought the spice level was the best he's had in Portland. Old school Thai kitchen with lots of GF options. Very knowledgeable staff who goes out of their way to prepare and serve a GF dish to someone who needs others to be careful with such things. Their House Fried Rice with chicken is the best GF thai style GF I've found so far in Portland. Sunee's idea of GF = taste free. Butterfly Belly is just ok (overrated in my opinion) Pad Thai Kitchens is really great. I was eating with a friend who is not celiac. They tasted. And they thought it was one of the best Thai fried rice dishes that they had ever had. A new weekly regular dinner stop. Oh and they are open late. And unlike another joint up the street, when they say they close at 9:30 (or 10:00 weekends) they actually will seat and serve you if you show up 20? before. Or they did us. BACKGROUND - I discovered this place when I started college (6 years ago). It was delicious back then, but over the years (I visit this place occasionally when I'm around Wunderland) the quality has dramatically dropped. I'm no pad thai expert, but I do enjoy pad thai everywhere I go and I actually do attempt to make fabulous pad thai. Making fabulous pad thai involves finding balance between tamarind sauce, fish sauce + sugar mixture and peanut butter + hosin sauce mixture. I'm on point 80% of the time. Pad Thai Kitchen used to be on point 100% of the time. Now? Not so much. PROS - I enjoy the complimentary soup (half tom kha and half tom yum with added tomatoes) that they give out with your lunch special. Their pad kee mao is still okay, along with their drunken noodles. Their tom kha (with chicken) is pretty tasty as well. CONS - Their pad thai. It's a gamble nowadays, but I really don't feel like ordering a dish and *hoping* it's good...there's really no point unless you enjoy the thrill that comes with anticipating "on point" pad thai. In which case, wouldn't you just rather make it yourself? POINTERS - Remember they do close after lunch hours to prepare for dinner, so plan accordingly. Parking is limited but there is plenty of nearby street parking. When it's mango season, their sticky rice with mango is definitely my kind of comfort food. read more
