They have lockers, a clean bathroom, free coffee and water and friendly and professional instructors who will help you have the best time on a paddle board. I have used these guys twice for a bachelor party and an outing with friends and it was a blast both times. My wife and I were looking for stand up paddle board lesson. Wow! It was so much better than we were expecting. I highly recommend getting a lesson versus just renting a board for your first time. King harbor is the perfect place for first timers because it's super flat and calm. Alexandra, our instructor who was awesome super relaxed and really took her time. We both were able to standup pretty quickly and took us to parts we wouldn't of gone if we're on our own. I was feeling more and more comfortable so she was able to push me and even got me to go out to open ocean water out to the bouy. Active duty military, tried to take my puppy paddle boarding and rented from this business. My boyfriend didn't even want to paddle board but the guy at the front desk said two people couldn't rent one paddle board so he made us rent two. Once we got on the boards our dog freaked out and got really scared. We were on the boards for maybe 10-15min and turned back around because we couldn't calm her down. Asked if we could get a refund for the two hours and the guy straight up said no. I understand they're trying to keep their business going, but come on. We were nice and respectful and under the circumstances, they should've been kind enough to give us a refund. Waste of $65. These people only care about money. Just know that before you choose to rent from them. Very disappointed. read more

I was admiring their skateboard racks way from the outside of the store Saturday afternoon. I was really impressed with their collection and almost caught up in the moment enough to buy one for myself despite me having way too many already, UNTIL this rude guy came out and stood in front of me with his hands on his hips and stared me down. He said not a word, just rudely stared me down right in front of my kids and my friend. He acted like I was going to steal one of the skateboards from 15 feet away. Totally ruined it for me and I decided they don't deserve my money. I don't understand what kind of customer service that is or how they expect to make money without even trying to greet potential customers. Deceptive sales tactics. We were told that the board rentals were $25 when you come with a member. There were NO contingencies on this that were mentioned at time of membership purchase. Today, we arrive and presumably the owner and his young son are running the show today. Went to go purchase my time slot and was charged $35! I mentioned I was renting today with a member and he just pointed to the sign that clearly stated the fees; he made no mention or apology for the mix up. On our way out, our friend who is the member was still bothered by this since that was largely in part why he purchased the membership to begin with. Again, the owner said "oh well that's during the week", but the thing is, when we came last it was also on a Sunday! So to make a long story short, they practice deceptive sales tactics here to get people to sign up for their monthly membership. They were rude, unapologetic and made no effort to fix the situation. This was a nightmare experience. If I could give negative stars, I would. We planned a paddle board adventure for our 12 year old son's birthday party. At first, they were very accommodating. However, the week of the party, the warning bells went off. When we called to confirm date/time, we were told there was a problem as they had double booked us with a large private party and there would not be enough guides to accommodate us. After resolving that issue and being told our needs would be met, we received a phone call two hours before the event advising us one of the employees had called in sick and that we would not be able to have the event and there was nothing that could be done. Basically, "so sad, too bad your son's bday was ruined." We demanded a call from the owner. When the owner called a short time later, he told us the employee "was a liar" and that they could accommodate our party. Unfortunately, in a panic, we had to scramble and had already made other arrangements in a short period of time. This was one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever dealt with and, rest assured, will be telling our friends never to give this company their business or hard-earned money as they will have no problem ruining a child's day on a whim. Fortunately, a nearby competitor was more than happy to accommodate us and provided my son with an unforgettable birthday paddle boarding experience, which will be met with glowing remarks on a separate review. read more

Very disappointed with the new staff. I used to be a VIP member and will never return after my experience this weekend. Young staff were rude, unhelpful and made us feel uncomfortable. I would like like my $35 refunded! We rented one paddle board because I had my own. Staff seemed upset that I had my own board and only rented one. We had my daughter's 10th birthday party here and the instructor was not only amazingly patient but also a great teacher! We had about 8 kids who never boarded and at times were frightened but by the end of the party they all knew how to paddle safely and couldn't wait to get their parents to take them back! The room for their party was a lovely setting and the safety instruction before was beneficial to the children and the parents. I'm taking a group back next week ( adults) for the LED board night. Can't wait! As a first time newb SUP-er, I was apprehensive and thought I wouldn't be able to stand up, paddle, and that I'd fall into the ocean and make a fool out of myself. But I tried it and did actually stood up and paddled! Paddle House and its staff are amazing. Kirsten and Patrick were so accommodating and kind. Daniel, our instructor, was a pro and SO helpful. When he was helping me get off the slip and onto my board, I muttered something about probably failing miserably, he was kind enough to tell me I'd be just fine. And I was! I was fine enough to stand up and paddle out to chill by the SEA LIONS who were chilling on their own barge 10 feet away, and then out to the calm water. The sea lions were my favorite part. Get too close and they'll hiss at you, though. =) The facilities and gear were amazing. Very clean and inviting. Even the gear they sell there (including yoga gear and shoes made out of recyclable material) is rad. I'd highly recommend Paddle House to anyone! This was my first time paddleboarding and we were given a recommendation to come here. It did not disappoint! They have lockers and a sauna, as well as clean restrooms and a snack bar. We did not have reservations and were able to get boards for the 4 of us. The staff member gave us a demo after providing us with compact life preservers and paddles. I was still apprehensive about getting up on the board. To me it felt like a Bosu ball which I am not very good at :( We got on our boards by kneeling and then we were off! The water wasn't completely still and I was fearful of falling in. I also learned I could use it like an open air kayak, which is how I spent most of my time in the water paddling. We paddled next to sea lions which was pretty dang cool. However, getting up was more of my priorty, I wanted to STAND! That did not happen for me as I kept having to get out of the way of the boats, other SUP'ers, kayakers, fisherman...you name it, it was in the water. So back to sitting it was! Returning the board was a breeze as well and the staff member demo'd the sit-stand motion again. I want to try it again as I am determined to stand up! I am still baffled by paddleboarding yoga! Very cool, welcoming place. Definitely worth the $35. read more

I had been wanting to try paddle boarding for a long time and was very excited when we planned a work outing at the Paddle House! I was worried that I would find it very intimidating but I could not have been more wrong. The Paddle House itself is very comfortable and inviting (and has good shopping!). We got great instruction on how to manage our boards and lots of encouragement! Daniel was an excellent guide and made sure that we all got out and up on our boards very quickly. The whole group had an awesome time and especially loved seeing all the seal lions hanging out! So thankful to the folks at Paddle House for helping us have a great morning and success with our paddling. I'm looking forward to going back soon! Communication was unbelievably difficult. I called on Friday to book an LED night session for the following Tuesday and was told it was going to be $50 per person and not the $40 advertised on their website. They then told me they would call back to confirm soon, which didn't happen until Saturday afternoon. They wrote down my name and confirmed for Tuesday, but needed a security deposit so they said they would call back for another confirmation. After calling multiple times on Sunday to pay the deposit and confirm again, someone finally picked up and said he had to confirm something else. No one called back. On Tuesday, the supposed day of paddle boarding, I called multiple times and left a voicemail. At this point I was getting anxious since my group was driving all the way from NorCal just to experience this. Someone finally got back to me and said that my name was not written down even though an employee had already confirmed my slot. Apparently no one knew about it. The employee said that she would get back to me, which she didn't. After more missed calls, another person called me and informed me that they couldn't do it for Tuesday, the day of, right as my group drove down. If they couldn't do it, then they could have just called me earlier to cancel it instead of waiting until literally 5 hours before the supposed session. If I hadn't taken the initiative to call them over and over again and bother them about my reservation, I doubt they would've called back and checked up on me. I only kept calling because of the many five star reviews this place got on Yelp. We were finally able to go paddle boarding Thursday night. It was a unique experience since you get to see lots of fish and some even hop onto your board. However, the guy that took us out was not helpful, patient, or enthusiastic. One of my friends did not want to continue with the tour after he fell in the water a couple of times and our guide was not sympathetic at all. Instead of coaxing him back onto his board and reteaching him the basics, the guide told my friend to hurry up and get back on and leave. A few people in our group were slower than the rest but he didn't stop to make sure those people were having a good time or were okay. He just went ahead without a word. He also didn't bother to explain anything to us. When we paddled near the sea lions, we couldn't stop to look at them or anything and he told us to keep paddling. By the time we had to turn back around, there was no sight of the guide since he had already gone ahead and returned back to the shop with some people from the group. I was one of the paddlers left behind and I was very scared, especially since we were in the ocean; what if one of us needed help or got lost? This was something new but I would not do it again because of the experience I had with booking it and doing it. I felt rushed the entire time and it seemed like he wanted nothing to do with us. read more

We come here every year when visiting from Colorado. It was recommended to us by our friends in Redondo/South Bay. The amenities are above and beyond and they are really nice guys. The manager does a great job. When we came back they heated up the sauna for us to dry off. It is really fun to paddle up to the seals that are nearby. I highly recommend Paddle House. read more

Where to start...I LOVE this place, great place to learn and the team are relaxed, fun and professional. I was up on my feet on my first trip out (and I have less than no balance!) Not only are the staff great but there is a great community at the paddle house itself, there are a lot of long-standing customers who hang out. The paddle house have sunset paddles, you can take your dog, there are night time LED paddle nights, they even organize paddles for everyone to go out to collect as much rubbish as possible. It's just so much fun and super social! Then, after all of the calories you burn, you are surrounded by great restaurants and cafes - what's not to like. read more

Save your money. Go somewhere else I called them to ask about board rentals and they told me one price over the phone and another when I arrived. Assuming it was just a communication mix up, since accidents happen, I payed for a 2 hour session. (in hindsight, i should have just looked at their website for clarification. hard to do while driving though) once they got my money, it seemed like they could'nt care less about the customer. i had to wait for about 35 minutes to get on the water. it was one excuse after another. Stand up boarding was fun. however it seemed that they only care about their image instead of actual customers paying for services. i dont understand, it the location a club hangout or a business looking to serve customers. after talking to others in the sport about Paddle House, it seems like what i had complaints about are not out of the ordinary. read more

Paddle House is by far the BEST place to rent stand up paddleboards in the South Bay. It is a super convenient location for paddling because the shop is located right on the water (on the Redondo Beach King Harbor Pier between Naja's and R10 Restaurant). The owner Patrick, and the paddle instructors Daniel and Julian are all very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Paddle House provides everything you could need for SUP: high quality rental boards, compact belt life preservers (not the big old bulky dirty vests that the other board rental shops supply), lessons included in the rental price, lockers with iPhone chargers, water and coffee, an indoor sauna to use on chilly days, and clean private bathrooms... They even have an excellent selection of paddle and yoga clothing. The area around the Redondo pier is the best spot in the South Bay to learn to SUP. Paddle House has an indoor mounted paddleboard where Daniel and Julian can teach you the basics. They put the paddleboard in the water for you and you just step on and go. There is a rock jetty around the Redondo Beach Pier that provides a large protected area of calm water where you can paddle without going out into the open ocean (just veer Right as you exit the pier area). There are two harbors within the jetty. You can easily spend an hour or two paddling through the two harbors looking at all the yachts and sailboats. It's great exercise. Paddle House also offers evening excursions where you can go out on a board with LED lights. Night paddling is awesome. The water is super calm at night. The fish are attracted to the light and you can see them swimming up to your board. Paddle House also has a boat and they offer SUP excursions out to Palos Verdes and Catalina. We paid $35 each paddle board because we were told we could leave the harbor. When we tried to leave the harbor they said no can do. The place next door has paddle board rentals for $15. We came back they would not budge on their policy. We have rented here before and leaving the harbor has never been an issue. Extra star because the instructor is a nice guy. read more
