If you look that up or really want to raft, take a drive up to Northern California for some excitement- you are able to do Class III, Class IV, or Class V, including an overnight rafting trip. It's not exactly like "A River Wild," but it can be if you're not experienced. I grew up river rafting with my Daddy all the time and have been on more than 300 trips in my lifetime. Be mindful that there is no real lifeguard on duty, so pair up with people who have swimming skills! Also, the marina is open to boats sailing through. Make sure you are not in their way as my friend and I almost made this mistake. After an hour of cruising through we were a bit fatigued and ended our morning here. They also have a key to the bathroom, which is around the corner. Even though we were 20 minutes early, they let us get on the water bike after a quick instruction. Riding on the water bikes was really fun! We rode around the bay and the water was choppy sometimes but as you get inside the bay, the water is calmer. A trick is that if you feel the water is too choppy, start paddling - the water will calm down with the pedaling. There are several boats around which provided live music for us. The bike has two cup holders and a front container to put your phones and small stuff in. We had a great time. They share a parking lot with nearby restaurants which offer 3 hours of free parking. That is a huge plus for something near the beach! We will be back next time to try a glow ride.

They showed the kids how the life jackets fit and then got 'em in the water to confirm to the kids that they were safe and comfortable. Then they let them loose on the boats. They had canoes and kayaks and stand up paddle boards and even has a dragon boat. They have a have a specific section of the lake designated for paddling but on the day we were there the guides let the kids loose on the entire lower lake. They loved it. The kids got some exercise and had a ton of fun and walked away happy and sore and a bit more confident in their watercraft skills. I've heard that the same options are available for adults but we had the misfortune of catching their very last session of the 2017 season so it looks like I'll have to sit on my hands and wait another 9 months to take a spin on that dragon boat. Credit where it's due -- the staff working the docks were warm and helpful every time. The owner was the opposite. What I watched over the course of that second visit was a man who seemed to make up charges and rules as he went. The clearest example was my own deposit, which somehow climbed from the $300 I was quoted when I booked online to $450 on arrival -- a 50% jump I never agreed to and never saw written anywhere during checkout. And I wasn't the only one. Customer after customer got the same treatment. One person tried to simply walk away from the whole thing, and he laughed at them and announced he'd be keeping their $95. The way he treated his own team was just as hard to watch. Certain employees seemed to be his favorites; others he'd put down openly, right in front of paying customers. The whole place had a tense, on-edge feeling to it. He struck me as genuinely intimidating, and honestly, if I worked there I don't think I'd ever feel safe pushing back on any of it. One more thing I'd want to know before handing this person a deposit. According to a 2003 Tahoe Daily Tribune article, a Mark Sentyrz who owned a Lake Tahoe boat-rental business pleaded guilty to felony unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16, as well as furnishing a controlled substance to a minor. I'd encourage anyone curious to look it up and form their own view. Having a boat rental right here in the Marina should be something the community gets to enjoy. I grew up here in Los Angeles county, always just a few minutes away from the beach but every time I made it out to the water all I ever did was sit out on the sand or occasionally dip my feet. I didn't want my family to do the same. I want my kids to take full advantage of their surroundings. Enter Gary Golding. He is a human encyclopedia of this environment and how to navigate it. I would have never gone out to Zuma beach on my own but there I was with my family having the time of our lives snorkeling and mingling with nature. Now keep in mind you can come to him with an idea of what you want to do or give him a general idea and let him plan it out. I would suggest a kayaking adventure which can be done at different locations. Since we have such great weather here in So Cal it's a year round opportunity.
