Best Guinness pour in Delco! Heavy Jameson pours, too! Bartenders and patrons are always nice.

I've never been disappointed with my food here, and you like pub fare you're sure to find something on the menu that will hit the spot. The brisket grilled cheese was phenomenal (though more meat than cheese) and their roast pork rivals anything you'll find in the city. They have a wide variety of options on tap too. Worth checking out.

I've been to McCloskeys a few times recently, and while I've heard great things about them...I've…read moreyet to experience it. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with fries...my friend ordered muscles and the ham sandwich special. The muscles arrived cold. Not warm, not tepid...just cold. They were sent back for a trip in the microwave which is a place that shellfish should never journey too...if you want them to remain tender. When I ordered, I asked about a few items and was assured that "people love the roast beef". Now I've had "French Dip" style roast beef before at other restaurants, and when done right...it's a memorable experience. Crusty toasted torpedo style roll brimming with thinly sliced hot beef...provolone cheese melted over the top and down the sides...served with a side of au jus dipping sauce, that you would want to slurp down a soup bowl full. But this...was not that! The sandwich arrived on a hamburger style bun...the meat was piled "adequately" in the center but sloped off considerably as it headed for the edge of the bun. There was no need to worry about meat falling out as I took a bite...as none of it protruded past the buns edge. The cheese was there...a single uninspired round slice covered the cold and somewhat soggy bottom of the bun... and wasn't melted...at all! I suspect that the kitchen assumed that the meat would melt the cheese...but the meat would have to be hot for that to happen. In this sandwich...the closer you got to the middle of the "meat mound"...the colder it got. And little did I know when asked if I wanted provolone on the sandwich...that it would be an additional charge. Now for my fries. They weren't hot...they weren't even warm...they were "ice cold"! I sent them back light heartedly joking that there must be a door open in the kitchen (it was a cold evening) and the server returned shortly with hot fresh ones...minus the pickles that were on my plate. This goes to show that fries can reach the table...hot. The hot ham and cheese sandwich "special", served on a pretzel bun, wasn't hot...and wasn't special. I saw no melted cheese...only thin dry slices of ham, stiff as roofing shingles, protruded from the roll. There was no mustard...no sauce...no "something special" to make the "special", special... just stiff little sad ham planks...wondering where they went wrong On both recent visits...the service has been "spotty". (I know that cell service in the pub isn't spotty, because on my first visit...both servers had their heads buried in their phones). It doesn't seem like there's a real system in place for insuring that the customers receive "attentive" service. To their credit...they did remove the muscles from the check without us asking...but I never got a feeling that the next party to walk through the door...would have a better experience. When you find a good local pub with great food...it's like going to eat at grandmas house. You know that you'll always leave feeling warm, wanted, and fed really well. And you'll be excited by the thought of a return visit. I'm still looking.

There is a large parking lot making it convenient. The outdoor space has many tables and fire pits, and lots of turf to make it more cozy. While they didn't have anything while we were there, there was also a stage which sometimes has Irish dancing and other entertainment under a large outdoor tent. There are also outdoor TVs. The indoor space looks decent too, but we only popped our heads in - seems like a typical bar type setup with a festive crowd. We chose our own outdoor seats since they weren't busy, and were quickly brought waters and menus. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel, and opted to split a roast pork sandwich. (Sadly, I was too hungry and didn't snap pics of that part). The pretzel is huge and came with mustard and cheese -- overall, the perfect soft pretzel. Good thing we decided to split the sandwich because it was also huge. Flavor was good and we were both satisfied. Simple presentation and no fuss - kind of what we expected with the name Yard Pub. The beer I got wasn't great, nor were their options, so keep that in mind. Overall, the service was friendly and we found our meal and experience to be exactly what we were looking for. We actually sent my in-laws here when they were in town watching our dog and they enjoyed it as well.

Great place to catch up with like minded sport, travel and political friends. Ron the bartender during the day is the GOAT of bartending in Chester county maybe all of PA. I personally keep a notebook of his life & health wisdoms. Secret thing to know is that they will roll up that "best of" cheesesteak into a wrap and put a fried egg and jalapeños in it if you're willing to give up a little of that incredible steak because you just can't get that much meat into a wrap! . Their fries are a must. I live in Arizona a lot of the year but always look forward to getting back to The Stone Tavern in the spring!

We were promptly seated in a mostly full dining area just to the right of the entrance around 12:30 pm on a Thursday. The dining room was spacious with plenty of room between tables though the booths are a tad tight. A large bar area with lots of TVs looked appealing as well. Drinks were quickly ordered and served as we perused the menu. While we had both looked at the menu prior to coming, and had an idea of what we wanted, there were so many appealing options that we second guessed a little as we made the tough decisions to not order way more than we could consume. Finally we decided on The Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with fries, the Ribeye Cheesesteak with fries, and a bowl of the Tomato, Bacon Mac & Cheese with the agreement to split the sandwiches and mac & cheese so we could both try additional items. Three very full and visually appealing plates of food arrived quickly (about 10-12 minutes after ordering) and we were ready to dig in. First up was the Ribeye Cheesesteak with caramelized stout onions, truffled local mushrooms, and sharp provolone on a Liscio's roll. Immediately viewable was the limited amount of cheese that was only lining the roll and not mixed into the meat in any way. Biting into the sandwich revealed a dry meat with a distinctly non-cheesesteak flavor. It wasn't bad, but it just tasted like a bland steak and cheese sandwich. The sharp provolone didn't make it to the party and had no noticeable presence. After eating half of my portion I added some ketchup which helped some with the dryness. This was a 25 out of 5 and I wouldn't bother ordering it again. I also started to consume the shoestring french fries while I ate the cheesesteak, and they were delicious. Crisp with just the right amount of salt. 4.5 out of 5. Next up was the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with thinly shaved Black Angus beef that is roasted daily, served with Au Jus, and horseradish sauce on a long roll. Topped with cheese and loaded with meat, this is what I was most looking forward to and couldn't wait to take a bite. I wish I hadn't! By itself, this was probably the blandest sandwich I have ever had in my life, while dipping into the Au Jus definitely improved the flavor, it still wasn't enough. I tried adding the horseradish sauce, but that was a sad approximation of real horseradish. Worst of all was the meat itself, where I had three different bites that were fatty/gristly and couldn't be chewed. Can't say I've ever had that from a roast beef sandwich before. 1.5 out of 5. Lastly, we had the Tomato, Bacon Mac & Cheese consisting of cavatappi pasta, applewood smoked bacon, and some diced tomato. This was sadly also a disappointment. The quality of the cheese left something to be desired and the sauce was very runny in consistency even after letting it sit for 10 mins while everything else was eaten. Another bland dish that neither of us even bothered to finish or box up to take home. Ketchup couldn't save this. 2 out of 5. Other than the fries, the only other bright spot was the service. Our waitress Isabella was polite, attentive, and performed her job well. Refilling drinks and making sure we were taken care of. 5 out of 5 for service. Affordability... for the three dishes and two Diet Cokes the total came to $57.27 with tax plus a $12 tip. The portion sizes were strong, but the flavor eliminated any value proposition. Overall, the food looked far better than it tasted and I was really disappointed in the meal. I had hoped I'd found a good local pub to take family and friends, but The Stone Tavern doesn't cut it. 2 out of 5 rating with no good reason to return.
