I had the pleasure of grabbing lunch with a dear friend there right as it opened at noon. We both had the same lunch combo of the French onion grilled cheese and the Brussels sprouts salad. We both devoured our salad. We both felt the plain grilled cheese or one of the Rueben's would be a better option next time. Yes. There will be a next time. The service was hospitable and caring from the gentleman who was unlocking the restaurant doors to get the place open, to the welcoming smile of the hostess who seated us to the waitress who was accommodating our needs to catch up and periodically and patiently checked back to see if we would like to place our orders. As in site has been explained in other reviews, the location is filled with books, decorations including a tin embossed ceiling and dark wood that provides an over all pub effect. No matter where you are seated you are sure to feel comfortable and if watching a game or two is on your list of items to do, they often have football/soccer on different screens. read more

Basic rule about me: if I'm at an Irish spot and see bangers n mash on the menu, it's a done deal. Went to JK's at the suggestion of a local work colleague - we work remotely. Die mad about it. The menu looked amazing actually - had I not gotten my tried n true there were at least 5 other solid options. The sausage was soft and flavorful on the inside. The mashed was the best I've ever had. And I make some mean mashed potatoes. I gladly surrender my crown. The peas I could eat like candy. Peas have no business tasting that good. Fat things: We were originally seated at a high bar table bc we were doing drinks only. However my corduroy pants slid right off the small seat so I relocated us to something rougher hewn and closer to the floor. Much better! Our waitress was queen of the upsell. I had a 2hr night drive home so I resisted the alcohol and dessert but service was outstanding. I travel to this area often for work. I'll be back. Been here a few times and I have to say this past visit has been the worst dinning experience I've ever had. Waited 20 minutes for a table (understandable since it was a busy Saturday night) and once we were seated waited another two plus hours for dinner. Watched several tables (seated after us) get food/apps while we continued to wait. Once the two hour mark hit we had to get up and leave. On the way out we spoke with the hostess who legitimately laughed at us when we said we've been waiting over two hours. I wish I could bring my family back here but unfortunately that service was beyond disappointing and the hostess was EXTREMELY rude. Save your time and money. read more

We came here for dinner. Plenty of parking in the parking lot and sat right away. We order wings which were amazing. We order chicken tenders, the burger, and the turkey,bacon, and avocado. The wings were amazing, served with celery and blue cheese. Cooked to perfection and tender. The meals were so good. I had the cheddar burger with red onion(my favorite). Cooked to my liking and I had it with a baked potato. The baked potato was perfect and served with sour cream. The service was excellent and the place was clean. Food is amazing. Service was pretty good considering how busy they were. My dad and I got the beef and Guinness pie. The pie filling was delicious. We would've preferred an actual piecrust instead of puff pastry, but it was delicious nonetheless. My mom got fish and chips, and the fish was perfectly crispy. We originally wanted to try Charlie's down the street. But when we walked in there, it was so crowded we couldn't even breathe and it was an hour wait. So we headed on down here to Josie Kelly's. I'm glad we did because it's a much larger restaurant and there was no wait. Our experience here was good. That being said there were missteps. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops for an appetizer. We waited a very long time for this appetizer to come out. It was to the point where our waitress kept coming back to our table and apologizing. Thankfully we had some bread and I was enjoying my smoked old fashioned, but even by my low standards we waited way too long. When the appetizer finally arrived, it was a disappointment. The bacon wrapped scallops themselves were actually quite good but they were super small and they only gave you 5. I feel like they could put a few more on there to make it worth the cost. The second problem was that the scallops were served atop a bed of risotto. The risotto was overcooked and barely eatable. Not 5 minutes after the appetizer arrived, our regular meals came out. So obviously something had happened. While we enjoyed our meal the manager came over and apologized about the appetizer wait time and risotto. He said he comped the appetizer. Now what I take that to mean is that he would take that off our bill. When we got the check at the end we saw that he gave us an $8 employee discount off of the appetizer. I'm not one of those people that complain at restaurants, I would never have even asked for any sort of recompense for the long wait or poor risotto. Especially since the waitress was giving us an update. That being said, if you are going to a give a gesture of apologize, just comp the whole appetizer. It's kind of lame to get to the end and see they gave you an employee discount as it was nothing. I do not want to ramble on much further, so I will keep the rest of this short. Everything else was great. My Guinness and Beef Stew was extremely delicious. My fiancé and I shared the chocolate mousse pie which was great. I appreciate that it was actually mostly chocolate mousse and not just layers of cake with mousse. All and all I would definitely come back here. 1st visit (late Sept 2025) for dinner with my husband - The parking lot was pretty packed but the dining room wasn't crowded at all so we had NO wait whatsoever to be seated (it was a Saturday night around 5:30pm). Seemed like there was a private party going on in one of the rooms because there was a band playing. Seemed like there was only one waitress on the floor. She was very nice and brought us everything we wanted. I had a bowl of the Potato leek soup. It was good, but could've been hotter. For dinner I had the Corned Beef Reuben. It tasted ok, portion size was good, but I thought it was on the dry side. I also had a baked potato. Hubby had the Ribeye steak which came with potatoes and creamed spinach. He loved it. We were able to get a table right away on a Friday around 6:15 pm in mid-May! Food and drinks were great! I had a magically delicious martini & the French onion grilled cheese with fries. The fries were so good, I couldn't stop eating them even though I was so full! They had a kids menu, and my son had a hot dog and fries. We were seated near a speaker so the music was a bit loud...so just be prepared for a mid to high noise level in here if it's busy! They have a parking lot which is super convenient. read more

Cozy, authentic and worth a visit. The buildings has housed different restaurants over the years and they have staying power. Two different bars, with each room having different vibes. The menu is fairly broad and I have yet to have a bad meal. Every server and bartender have been a joy to interact with, friendly and attentive. Not bad wines for an Irish bar. My wife had the pork chop and it had a taste of vinegar, was thin and not of the quality you would expect for the price and the cream corn was over peppered and had the same vinegar taste. Very centric spot with lots of parking. Accesible bars from any side of the dinning areas. Ordered the split pea soup and it was very salty. Ordered a sandwich after however my bartender forgot to ring it in and was so distracted talking at the end of the bar that never even realized that my order never came out. It was not a busy night, however he was not attentive to some customers at the bar. The place is spacious but can become loud when people chatting. Lots of older decor simulating libraries. Heather was so easy to work with and was super attentive throughout the process! Our bartender and server for our event were so sweet and accommodating, too! It's a great Irish pub located in a historical building with a restored interior that pays homage to Irish heritage. Josie Kelly's has a welcoming and traditional feel of a coastal pub from the west coast of Ireland. First time at Josie Kelly's. Party of 3. Hostess greeted us efficiently and showed us to our table. They had run out of menus, but eventually we received them. I ordered the chicken curry, which suffered a common mistake made by restaurants trying to cut corners, that is they used old chicken, with an "off" taste, similar to chicken served on pizzas and on salads. The curry sauce could not cover the foul (fowl) flavor of chicken meat way past its prime. Come on folks, roast the chickens in-house that morning, allow the meat to cool, chop, then add to the dish. Only serve fresh chicken, roasted that day. For a $28 entree, you can do that. Throw out the chicken not served that day. Please. And if you are buying your chopped cooked chicken thighs from a purveyor, stop! Don't serve day-old (or more) chicken from Sysco, US Foods, etc. You can do better. And maybe in Ireland you get fries and rice with a curry dish, but that's an unnecessary carbohydrate load here in the States. Skip the fries and serve a small arugula (rocket) salad. Some greenery (like Ireland) would add pop to the plate. Great waitress. Good live music tonight. Good crowd. Might try again, but will avoid the chicken dishes. Yikes! read more

My party of five and 1/4 ( 3 1/2yo darling grandaughter) were totally blown away by the food, and service we experienced at J K's P H. Our server, Victor, was very congenial, and made sure we were happy with everything throughout our dinner. At 4:00pm, when we arrived the restaurant, and bar were half full, by the time we left the whole place, restaurant, and both bars were filled to capacity. Josie Kelly's has some really creative drinks the one that everyone one really liked was the Phoenix Margarita: a combination of tequila, muddled jalapeno, triple sec, prickly pear, lemonade, and salt, this is an off the hook refereshing drink, Josie Kelly's Irish Red was also really good. Our appetizers, potato cakes, and portobello fries came out hot, and nicely seasoned, the coating on the portobello fries gave them a delicious crisp coating , they came with a tasty dipping sauce. Darling grandaughter's chicken fingers, and sweet potato fries kept her happily occupied while the rest of us enjoyed our dinners. We ordered pan seared cod, fish and chips, Shepherd's Pie, and Beef and Guinness Pie. My dining partners told me the seared cod, fish and chips, and Shepherd's Pie were excellent, I had the Beef and Guinness Pie: tender pieces of beef and veggies cooked perfectly, in this heavenly tasting gravy, with a square of puff pastry layed gently atop this dish, wow, I can tell you living on and off in Great Britain for fifty years, this version was as good, and surpassed some of the ones that I have eaten across the pond. My only gripe would be that it, along with a few of the other entrees could have been a bit, larger... Now to dessert, they served Crack Pie which is a great description for it because it is addicting as hell. Our service was pretty accurate in his description "it's like a pecan pie without the pecans". This pie with it's delicious crust that tastes just like crumbled up oatmeal cookies mixed with butter, and a delicious filling was so good it justed tasted like "more". The other desert was a chocolate cheesecake with a hint of Jameson Whiskey, well forget about cheesecake like you normally think about cheesecake, this was a velvety, chocolaty, smooth, and creamy combination of deliciousness, that was truly an unbelievable taste treat. (To show how much Yelping means to me, our visit here was back in June and I'm just getting around to thinking about this now. Obviously I forget way more than I remember.) It's been a while since our visit, six months, so what do I remember: On one hand we showed up on a Friday in June without a reservation and even though it was busy, we were seated almost immediately. On the other hand, the place was beyond loud and the seating of being very near the live music, under a TV and near a kiosk where the staff enters orders meant a ton of foot traffic and a ton of noise. On one hand the menu is small so you would assume what they do they do well and the prices are not crazy considering what they are serving and being in such a touristy area in-season. On the other hand, what's also small are the portions. Don't come hungry unless you're pre-gaming/post-gaming somewhere else, ordering a double entrée or the thought of leaving semi-hungry is appealing. American Burger - Shepherd's Pie - Bangers & Mash Asked for the burger to be made without the LTO on it and it came of course with LTO very much on it. The B&M was probably the best thing here as the gravy was decent and the flavor very good. Truly one of the more bizarre things I have ever seen in my life that makes no sense is the Shepherd's Pie here. The small side pile of dry arugula on the plate makes zero sense. It's flavorless and at least to me, pseudo-inedible in the format it's in. Honestly. Why? As I mentioned earlier, we're not obese slobs but the portion size for the two entrees is definitely on the smaller side. I frequent an Irish Pub near home for their Shepherd's Pie and for the same price it's 15-20% larger and tastes basically no different than what is rendered here with no weird arugula. I'll give a pass on the service as the guy we had was also training someone who seemed like it was their first day and things were very disjointed. Very long wait for drinks to hit the table and refills were never offered and until it was time for the check we never saw either of them anywhere near our table. Overall JKPH certainly wasn't bad but at the same time in future visits "Down the Shore", I can't say that we're going to seek it out either. The food was decent, just not enough of it in certain cases and the service left a lot to be desired. Three is more than fair. read more

Large place and perfect for a quick trip off OC if you're not looking for beach/seafood-type places. It's a sports bar/Irish pub with some upscaled traditional dishes. A bit expensive, but you're close to the beach and it is what it is. Great tap and canned beer selection and interesting drinks (if a bit strong, but that shouldn't be a complaint if you're not driving!). Watched Scheffler win the Masters here on 3 or 4 TVs. Service was good, everything brought out on time, drinks refilled, etc. Please, please, skip the Crab Trap and come here. That place needs to go. read more
