I've lived next to this place for YEARS, and this is my first time trying it. The reviews do not lie. This food is GOOD! I ordered the enchilada & chile releno combination plate, and ugh! I will probably order this every time I come here. I guess I will put the blame of the food's great quality on the fact that this place right next door to El Super. I really wish I would have tried this place sooner. There is an abundance of Mexican food spots to try in the South Bay, but this one really did it for me. I mean the flavor of the chicken and sauce on the enchilada was soooo good! The beans and rice were seasoned well. Rice was a great texture, and the chile releno was oozing with cheese. The service was good but the food is atrocious. It's practically inedible. I would not recommend coming here for any type of food. I got the burrito, it had so many nasty, squishy pieces of meat. UPDATE: yeah, thought it was just an off day but they're just racist. lol. Don't come here if you don't speak Spanish. Awful. I came here and the workers just stared at us. We had to flag a woman down in an empty bar to order two beers, and she immediately goes and starts gossiping with her coworker in Spanish. We notice, and she says "we just think you look very young." Okay, then.. ask for ID? She ended up not ID'ing us, serves us the beer, and immediately goes back to blatantly talking about us in Spanish. Another party walks in and all of a sudden they are friendly as ever, ready with the chips and salsa and decent service. Been living in Hawthorne for over 10 years and have always struggled to find a Mexican spot that makes tortas the right way. I decided to give the place a shot and I'm glad I did. I ordered the asada torta and it was BOMB! The bread on this torta is perfectly toasted! The meat was fresh and nicely marinated. I was a bit taken back when I realized they put mayo and mustard on the bread but it works. There's sooo much flavor on this torta. This is solely a review for the restaurant, not the bar, because we did not patronize the bar, although we did wander through and it was surprisingly nice and inviting. It was much nicer, in terms of ambiance, than the restaurant, which was a hole in the wall for sure, and had all the appearances of being just another generic Mexican restaurant, but once we started eating, that thought was banished. The food was some of the best Mexican food in the entire South Bay. The bean and cheese dip that came with the complimentary chips and salsa was enough to rate the 5 stars all by itself. It had a really unique smoky, almost barbecue like flavor. The salsa, while not looking like anything fancy was particularly flavorful as well. Went here for the first time today and the cook was super accomodating due to my husbands food allergies !! He said "no problem" i can do it! I apreciate that so much !!! And by the way the food was very good! Thwy were all out of birria tacos but thats a good sign because it means they are good! I got 2 tacos de papa and 2 tacos de pollo dorados . It's what one would consider a "hole in the wall" but what a mighty hole. Their chilaquiles are my go to, they are delicious and so tasteful. I've learned the secret... order the green tomatillo chilaquiles and ask for the red spicy sauce on the side. If you order the red- well I hope you like fire. The staff is so nice and they hustle hard. I appreciate them for it. The food and bar side are in separate rooms. But you can have both on either side. So whatever fits the mood they got it. Oh my I almost forgot- THE SHRIMP COCKTAIL. Holy moly- you don't have to add nothing to it. I usually add tons of lime, salt, ketchup, but not here. Oh no no. It's perfect. This place is like a whole in the wall, you would never expect it from the looks from the outside. It is located in a shopping center where "El Super" is located right off of Hawthorne and marine. Parking: After certain hours the whole parking lot is practically for Padrinos Draft House. Food: they have really good Mexican food with hand made tortillas for their taco selection! Drinks: it is a beer and wine but they mainly cater to the trending draft/ crafty beers. They have four alternating taps which is cool because you get to try a different beer every time. Turned out this place has amazing food, a good vibe, whatever music you want to listen to with the juke box( they do have a dj some nights as well) , and a very friendly staff. If you are coming with an appetite order the shrimp ceviche, its absolute fire! Also got the super nachos with carne Asada I recommend sharing this dish as it's huge!
