I met my best friend here, but the experience started off poorly since we weren't greeted and I had to get the host's attention while they were on their phone. I requested a table for two in a quieter area near the window. The food was actually good--I'd rate the tacos about a 4.5 out of 5--and the margarita was okay but a bit too sweet and not very strong. However, the restaurant had a strong unpleasant odor, like urine or old carpet, which made it hard to enjoy the meal and really affected the experience. Best Nacho's in Gardena! I've been coming to Burnt Tortilla for years! I first went to the original spot on Redondo Beach & Western, then started going to the Artesia location, and I've even picked up from their takeout spot a couple of times. No matter which one, the food is always solid. This place is definitely one of those hidden gems you probably drive by all the time without realizing how good it is. I usually stick with my go-to: the Ground Beef Nachos. My wife gets the Vegetarian Nachos, and both are super tasty. The sauce isn't watery, the beans and rice are seasoned just right, and the portions are generous. Service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. I'm sitting at the bar trying to enjoy my meal on Cinco De Mayo. Sooo the waiters keep bringing dirty glasses to the bar. The bar tender is not taking them but they are piling up in front of me!!! Been months since we have eaten here. Decided to try and get no added salt to our dinners. First order of business is the house margaritas. Our server immediately brought fresh chips and salsa. I love the chips and salsa. The salsa is perfectly fresh tasting with some kick. The food is always served piping hot, the way all food should be served. I love how crunchy and crispy the tacos are served and are served generously with meat, lettuce and cheese. I did not like the Burrito. It is my belief that if a restaurant cannot produce a good burrito it says a lot on the effort they put in their cooking. A burrito is a simple recipe but it requires taste. What good does it do getting a big fat burrito when the taste in the meat and salsa is not there and you throw away most of it. My one biggest issue is that the food has gotten a lot saltier to the point where I have to drink lots of water for the rest of the day. We just did a take-out order last week. I was visiting a family member who doesn't live far from Burnt Tortilla, so we stopped in for lunch. I had the steak tacos and they were excellent. I liked the rice and beans as well. My sister had the ground beef tacos, which she didn't like at all. She also didn't really like the rice or beans. My cousin had a taco and a burrito if I recall correctly. I've been going to Burnt Tortilla for many years, dating back to the late 1970's, mostly for family gatherings or with a friend and his family. This review is for the in-restaurant dining, not the Burnt Tortilla Takeout which isn't always the most friendliest place to take out any food. The food is always tasty and satisfying. The waiters, a couple of them have been working at Burnt Tortilla for as long as I can remember, are friendly and helpful. I usually arrive around the time the restaurant opens, so no waiting for a table. Parking spaces are usually easy to find, especially a handicap parking spot(there's only two); however, if you arrive later in the day, parking spaces are not always available. I used to go to the one on Artesia Blvd., which now houses a Chase bank. I started going less after that location closed. My favorite dish was the potato burrito. It has a green sauce with ground beef and chopped potato and tastes spicy. I was craving this special burrito, so I went with my family last Friday night. There's a sports bar to the left, and the dining tables are to the right. The place was not too packed, and we got seated right away. It took quite a while for our server to come to us. By the time we were ready to birder, we called the server to come. We were glad that he had our drink ordered once he came over, and water and chips were served. So, the potato burrito disappointed me a little bit. The portion was smaller (sort of understandable since I have not been here for years), the size of the potatoes varied, some of them were too big, like two dice, and the sauce was too salty. The fish tacos were good. A big chunk of fish steak freshly sat between the tortillas, with a crunchy thin shell and tender fish meat inside. The quesadillas were satisfying. The tortillas were prepared at the perfect temperature and had a good texture to match the melting cheese inside. The asada fajita was okay. Seasoning-wise, it was good, but the beef was overcooked. The texture was tough and a little bit on the dry side. Overall, coming back after all these years was an okay experience. I might come back again and try one more time. read more

Before burritos made their appearance and became a So Cal staple, my maman was making me and my little sis epic burritos almost daily. And to say hers were masterpieces is an understatement because hers were better than most anything you can get today. When I learned to create my own burrito extravaganzas, there were too many times I took my eye off the tortilla that sat upon the burner. I invariably burned my share of tortillas and to this day, I almost don't enjoy eating a burrito unless the tortilla is yes, a little bit charred. I like to think I was destined for Burnt Tortilla. On this our first visit to Burnt Tortilla, there were no burnt tortillas and truthfully, nothing else was burnt either. No complaints here. Tonight we enjoyed super delicious salsa with a nice spicy kick, I think we asked for salsa refills ay least 4 times. Chile rellenos, green enchiladas, crunchy shredded beef tacos and a pork tamale were all wonderfully delicious...so delicious in fact, we can't wait until our next visit. Service was superb. Margaritas were flowing - never had to wonder or wait for them to arrive. Chips were piping hot and tasty too....and gosh darn it their salsa really is good. We typically have to ask for extra hot salsa to kick up our meals (and palates), but not today as today's batch was muy caliente. Olé! Loads of parking - just make your way through the small lot when you first pull in and head straight back. The restaurant is huge and I imagine it gets festive and busy so keep that in mind if you arrive at prime weekend dinner hours. Friendly, efficient service...our jovial servers even boasted how they made our margaritas "100% fantastic"! You'll enjoy the prices too...always welcome when the check arrives and you're pleasantly surprised you don't have to hand over your 1st born as payment. Well kids, my nephew and I came here in search for the best Steak Ranchero. Having had the same dish at Zacatecas Restaurant, we are seeking another challenger to dethrone Zacatecas. Unfortunately the Burnt Tortilla failed to do so. We visited when there were hardly any patrons inside. We were greeted with a friendly demeanor and seated right away. One of the employees, a gentleman, was Johnny on the Spot with chips salsa and water. The chips were hot and crispy and the salsa was spicy and very delicious. We both ordered the Steak Ranchero. The steak was cut in rectangular shape slices, smothered in sauce with onions and square shaped slices of green pepper but no tomatoes. The rice is probably one of the best tasting I've had in a minute. The beans were also very tasty; however, the big disappointment was what I expected to be the star of the show. The meat was extremely dry even after being drowned in the sauce. The sauce had an unusual after taste that did not resemble what I am acostumed to when ordering this dish. My nephew who is more into grilling noted that it was more likely cummin spice. Very disappointed that the steak Ranchero here is far inferior then the one at Zacatecas. I wish I could be more kind with stars for the rice and beans but I could not overlook the disappointment with the dryness of the meat and the unpleasant after taste of the sauce. We personally would not recommend this dish and if I return, I would avoid anything with steak as the protein. read more

I just received the worst service ever. First i want to say im a regular customer. we visited the restaurant for a nice dinner we came in and was directed to our seats. Bust boy brought us water. The bartender continued to mingle , 20 minutes later 2 other families came in and sat at the bar & he made there drinks and even took their food order, still no drinks for us. I got up went to report it to female Mgr she casually apologized & she did have a side bar with him. I return back to table then waiter who past us up 3 times returned ready to take our order.
