Came for the seafood paella at this namesake restaurant based on all of the glowing reviews. Unfortunately it was just OK. The mix of seafood was nice - mussels, shrimp, calamari and 1 very small piece of octopus, and the rice had the signature crisp, but the flavor was just meh. Nothing like the paella we had in Valencia, or even in and around Barcelona. Then you add on an interior that feels too cavernous and lacking any feeling of warmth, sleepy elevator music, and a computer print out of the drinks offered with no prices, I just wasn't feeling it.

We came in around 30 minutes before closing and they were kind enough to take us. The food was great! We tried the seafood paella and churros. They were both great! The seafood paella was a great portion and full of flavor. The churros were some of the best I've had! This was the best meal we had during our time in Maine.

Very nice, large open area with plenty of seating accommodating large groups. I liked the paella, my wife loved the salmon bruschetta & the onion rings were lightly breaded with a nice hint of spice. Yes we would come back & try other items.

What an amazing spot! The signature dish, seafood paella, is the best I've ever had. The service was so heartfelt and welcoming. Generous pours of wine. Phenomenal ambiance with Latin instrumental music playing. Easy parking, quick service, great value pricing. Why waste time going to the Old Port‍.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! From the friendly prompt service to the most amazing food this is hands down one of the best restaurants we've been to. Lobster rolls are phenomenal, best we've ever had. Everything from the bun to the amount of lobster to the taste. Not to mention the fries that are their sidekick and the sauce!! We also shared a chicken and olive paella, and as a family who live in Spain half the year in the Valencia region I can say with certainty the paella is spot on amazing down to the crispy bottom rice. Also great portions. We loved everything and will be back.

We drove from New Hampshire to get a lobster roll and found this place. It did not disappoint! Loved the sauce that came as a side with both the roll and the fried calamari, and the beet and goat cheese salad was also delicious.

We all drive down forest Ave if you're a Portland local and I'm sure you've seen this in passing. We finally checked it out this afternoon and we were more than impressed. We got all the small plated Paellas, chicken, lamb, and seafood which was totally worth it. It's a really good comforting dish with great quality meat and seafood. The shrimp and avocado ceviche was fresh and balanced well with our entrees. The dressing was a little mild, it could have gone with more salt or a touch of lime but other than that I was happy. The server was just lovely, I wish we got her name. Very sweet woman, not native to Maine. So glad we chose to dine here today. It's been on our list for a while and we will be returning!

Absolutely Amazing! 100/100 This is hands down the best seafood restaurant I've ever been to. I can't get enough of their Paella. It's bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Every dish I've tried has been outstanding. I'm so glad I discovered this place. Highly recommend to anyone who loves great seafood and excellent service! Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Phenomenal food and service! This place is a winner for sure! We had the salmon croquettes, the calamari, a side salad, and the seafood paella. We also enjoyed a bottle of the Albariño. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The wine paired perfectly. We will absolutely be back when we come to Portland!

Finally, the curse of Raoul's has been lifted! After so many different mediocre food joints in this spot, we have a remarkable hit. I don't always agree with the Portland Repressed Herald, but their food reviewer was right saying this is the best paella in Maine. They still have their Maine coast fried seafood delights, but their paella is tasty, crispy seafood heaven. And it's customizable! I don't want shrimp for ethical reasons (except Canadian Gulf of Maine), and they happily doubled my mussels instead. There's also chicken, which our table devoured. Lunch on the warm, sunny deck was delightful despite being within sight of Forest Avenue. And it's dog friendly! Dahlia served with a smile and would love to talk to you about her life in Barcelona. You gotta check out their new digs this summer. Amazing!

    Seafood Paella

This place has the nicest owners who are passionate about sharing their dishes with the community. Highly recommended! I tried the seafood paella because, well, seemed appropriate. It did not disappoint. Tons of seafood packed into the beautifully presented dish. Excellent service, too!

The sauces (horseradish ice and red onion ice in particular) really amplified the flavor of the various oysters and really helped make it a great experience. We got there pretty early but still had a bit of a wait but I'd say it was worth it. We also had a lobster roll which was different from what you're used to but it was good. The fish tasted super fresh and like clean-eating without being at all flavorless or boring. You can swap the fries for a Caesar salad among other things. It's about $20 which I think is really great deal for a high quality fish sandwich and a small salad. The restaurant itself also has a very refreshing clean feel, feels almost like it's sanitizing just to be in there. I went back today and got the same thing as take out version because it was so good. I had been hesitant to go here because I thought of it as a chain and it's located in the heart of tourist-mecca-Portland. I had seen the outposts in New York City and in Philadelphia, and so when I moved to Maine, I went to other places first for "authentic" lobster rolls. However, of all the places I have been for seafood so far in Maine, this is probably my favorite, or a close tie with SoPo Seafood, but has the advantage of a seaside location and more enjoy-the-weekend vibes. It has a fun, uplifting, light feel and seemingly really good food. Highly recommend.

We are so lucky to walk up at 8 pm and get a table. Not any table, but next to the kitchen. It was so awesome to sit there and watch their masterpieces come to life. The amount of pans and flames on the fire was pretty cool. We waited a bit for our waiter, but once he arrived he was attentive and did well. Bread service was delicious. Butter cokes our very cold, we used the candle to warm it. They wait staff got a chuckle out of that and said rush cooks give us melted butter. Ha ha We ordered the grilled octopus as an appetizer. Deliciously prepared and cooked. Mmmm. I ordered the special--Tuna Ragu My husband sword fish Swordfish was a little over cooked but the flavor was very good. Fish. Delicious. Now let's talk about the tuna Ragu. It was the most delicious strange thing I've had yet on this trip. My Brain was like... why is there fish in this pasta and my tastebuds are like who the heck cares this amazing. The homemade pasta was delicate and fluffy yet cooked al dente and soaked up all the sauce/gravy. The tuna had a slight fish taste, but it was fresh- perfect and not over whelming. There had to be a spicy sausage hidden in there because every other bite was bursting with a spicy hint. Absolute perfection! They tried to give us the dessert menu, but we were so full. If you can get in on a walk in night. Definitely do it!

It's likely we just showed up during an off day/time but left more disappointed than excited. Booked a reservation for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary of when we started dating and they did include a card thanking us for choosing to celebrate it with them. Was a nice little touch. Inside has a rustic feeling vibe and the low ceilings does make it quite loud. Our server eventually greeted us and took our drink orders. I had a spicy tequila cocktail called Kissies and Poppies while my wife had a gin based cocktail called Secret Garden. Both were decent but nothing special enough to rush back for. Appetizer wise the only one on their menu during our visit was freshly sliced prosciutto which was tasty but did not stand out anymore than your typical grocery store prosciutto. For the main event and the purpose of checking them out my wife got the Shrimp Linguine in Butter and Garlic. I gave their Grilled Lobster Linguine in Butter and Garlic a try. Both dishes had great flavor and they did not skimp on garlic! Lobster does come in shell and our server did warn us. Despite the good taste the slow service really left a sour taste in our mouths. Our reservation was for 9:30 PM (showed up a bit early) and didn't receive food til almost 10:30 or after and we ordered relatively quick. Our server did come over once during our wait saying it would be soon. Though once we got our food the server didn't check on us again til we finished. Maybe it was due to being part of the last meals being served. Not a great excuse but who knows, extremely lackluster service for a higher end spot that should make you feel welcome! We did skip out on dessert to avoid more waiting. Im glad so many people enjoy this spot, but if my wife and I are feeling a nicer dinner we will go elsewhere!

Weirdly the scallops were seared on only one side and were really darkened. The scallops were not very sweet or tender because they too were overcooked.
