My sons birthday was this weekend and I was wondering if I have to cancel it. Dr. woods went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and extremely accommodating. I recently went for a consultation and evaluation on my teeth with Paige Woods. I was told I had 7 cavities that needed to be addressed and quoted me over $2000. I recently went to get 2 more evaluations from other dentists and both assured me I only have one cavity. Do not trust this dentist she's a liar and wants to take your money. I usually need to be numbed more than once, I guess I have a high tolerance for the numbing meds and usually (other places ive been) staff gets annoyed with how many times I need it done and Dr. Woods and her staff figured it out & for once I didnt feel like a burden! This post is an update from my last Yelp review; Again, I have to give Dr. Woods and her staff five (plus) stars. I broke a molar this morning and called her office as an emergency patient. The staff worked me in between patients. I never felt rushed or pressure by Dr. Woods or her staff. The numbing was very gentle, the process was smooth and efficient, they worked with my insurance and was able to break my copayments down into something that was affordable. I have to say this is the best dental office I have ever been to. Let me just say this right up front, Dr. Woods is the best dentist I have ever been to in my entire life. I REALLY like this team. I am holistic health practitioner and I'm very picky about dentistry and especially holistic dentistry because it's important to me that the hygienist and the dentist know what they are doing and are properly trained for holistic modalities. Your teeth are a direct connection to your health because each tooth is connected to a different organ or gland in the body and you can bet that if you have an issue with your teeth that you will also have an issue with your corresponding body part. Holistic dentists are educated in this area at a level that regular dentists don't have the training for and they know how to help you get your health back on track by keeping your teeth properly cared for. I found this team to be extremely knowledgeable, friendly, warm, and highly skilled! The office is friendly, inviting and clean and I was made to feel welcome from the moment I walked in the door. The hygienist was knowledgeable and explained everything she was doing as she went along answering any questions I had along the way. I love that they make their own toothpaste out of a coconut oil base. To top it off they all wear these really happy friendly scrubs that are bright pink and it makes me want to go back and get my teeth cleaned every month because I really enjoyed my experience there! I highly recommend them and will definitely be making then my regular practice now that I am living here in San Diego. The new patient sign-up process has been very difficult and I would not recommend someone trying to switch dentists. The office canceled my first appointment that I booked online. I then requested a second initial appointment which the office re-scheduled to a date that was two months later. I patiently waited the two months for my appointment but one week before my appointment the office called and informed me that they would need an immediate credit card pre-payment over the phone while I was at work in order to keep my scheduled appointment. The entire process did not make me feel welcomed as a new patient. It felt like I was a big inconvenience for them. read more

I had neglected my teeth for about a decade, I had no pain, so just avoided going due to not having health insurance and just pushing it out of my mind. I definitely have anxiety issues, and it only compounded by me not going to the dentist for so long as it wasn't familiar (like it was when I was a child and went every 6 months etc.) I was referred to Dr. Woods from OMNI Dental at Liberty Station. I thought I was going to do my dental work there, however, the dentist there told me they do NOT use a rubber dam or oxygen when removing silver filings. So I got the heck out of there quick, lol. He tried to convince me it was BS (needing a rubber dam and oxygen,) but hey even if it IS, (which I don't believe for a second,) I would rather be safe than sorry! When I went to see Dr. Woods initially, just for an exam, my crazy anxiety told me HELL NO, she is way to beautiful to be a dentist, I want an older dentist. I know that is AWFUL (especially as I am a woman lol.) But I am just being upfront. After I got over my ridiculous self-talk (to talk myself out of going) I just said **** it! Let's do this. It was looming over for me for months before I finally went in and I'm SO GLAD I did. Reasons why I recommend her: 1) You can tell she is someone who really takes pride in her work being perfect. I know this by the impression she left on me on how critical she was of the older dental work I had done via my xrays. 2) She is gentle and pre numbs your mouth with gel before giving you the real shot that numbs you. 3) I am so paranoid of epinephrine giving me anxiety post shot, that I asked for non epi meds to numb me, she didn't even bat an eyelash, most dentists always would give me shit for asking for this. ("it won't last as long or numb as well.) Well, it numbs me JUST fine! lol 4) Her staff and front desk are really nice and competent. I don't know why I find most Dr and Dental office staff so ghetto and rude. NOT here at all, they're super courteous. 5) Dr. Woods is highly intelligent and questions conventional dentistry, hence her videos they play in the lobby. I like the fact that she thinks about her patients as a whole before just ripping your roots out of your teeth. 6) Dr. Woods has a calm demeanor and does not have a cocky patronizing vibe like a lot of people in the medical field. This is a overpriced dentist office. Nothing in here is Holistic. No education on how to save your teeth naturally. They only want to make money. They want you to use gold to fill your teeth. The thing bother me the most is the girls at the front desk, they used to be polite but lately they have very rude and condescending front desk new employees. Very happy to finally find a local holistic dentist that is of the highest participating provider with my health insurance. Now I have the reassurance that I can afford to take care of my teeth without unwanted metals and unessesary toxins. Dr. Paige is very gentle. I love being offered to smell lavender before a treatment/procedure. I also love not having to ask for no flouride. I have been to her twice now, my kids and husband once. She filled a few cavities for me, I didnt even feel the novacaine needle go in and she didn't use the Nova Caine where it wasn't necessary and I feel that she really honors my wishes and concerns. My first visit, she asked me questions that normally a dentist or doctor would just assume was going to happen. Another thing is there was no shaming or blaming me with my imperfect job of keeping my kids teeth clean, which I have experienced in other dental offices. Only one small nitpicky thing for me as that her and her assistant were a little (really just a little) chit chatty while filling in my cavity, which felt a little strange for me as they were talking above me and obviously I was concious and could hear everything ). -Won't stop me from coming back though for sure, Dr. Woods is now my dentist. I have visited Dr. Woods' office four times now. She was not a referral, I found her on my insurance website and simply liked the idea of a holistic dentist. The staff is incredibly friendly- Kim at reception doesn't just greet clients she welcomes you and is very thorough if you have any scheduling or billing questions. Brittany did my cleaning and she was excellent- she also remembers me from that first visit and chats me up when she sees me which is great! Dr. Woods introduced herself in a professional but casual way- like talking to family. She set me up on a plan to get my mouth back on track which I loved but there was no pressure to rush- it was a decent chunk of change as I had several cavities and needed both a full and a partial crown- she said we'd get it all done at my pace. Sheila and Jose are also on her team and they were both great and made me feel very comfortable. Unfortunately my crown didn't fit on two occasions- this was a bummer but it showed me Dr. Woods' character. She went to bat for me and made sure the issue with the contractor who made it was addressed and had a correct crown expedited. She also offered to work around my schedule to have the best chance at delivering the crown quickly. She made me feel valuable by doing this. I would also like to point out she could've just put the unfitting crown on in the first place and hoped I wouldn't notice but she cares about the quality of her work, she is a perfectionist, and clearly has integrity. Stuff happens, to everyone and that's just life. She dealt with this obstacle incredibly well. So I'm a happy camper and will definitely continue to visit her for the finishing touches on my smile. The office has lots of parking, complimentary beverages, is clean and relaxing. Dr. Paige Woods is a gem of a dental professional. When it was "sorely needed"- in my odyssee to recover from my excruciating experience before she arrived,- her referral to a competent maxillofacial surgeon was "spot on". As was her recommendation for him to do extensive bone grafting and installation of new implants. Once healed, Dr. Woods competently planned the entire procedure for installing a beautiful, permanent zirconia denture attached to the implants. The implementation of this required exceptional coordination and many impressions during numerous visits. At different times, her "hands on" work im my mouth required both physical strength and delicacy, sometimes during the same session. Dr. Woods is fearless, strong and tender. Her long, slim fingers were accurate in attaching even those tiny screws that needed to be screwed onto the two implants way back near the esophagus. Another nice touch: Hearing small verbal cues of what to expect. This really helps to reduce anxiety. Her confidence is matched by her competence, paired with warm caring; her friendliness is real.
