I truly can't say enough about Dr. Lai, Sherri and this clinic. I've been coming here for 15 years with an incredibly difficult pain syndrome. He was my 10th specialist (1st pain management) over 5 years and until about 5-10 minutes after I walked into his office, I had no diagnosis. Within 5-10 minutes of me sharing, he knew exactly what was going on, asked me to research it so I wasn't just hearing his perspective and we scheduled a diagnostic intervention to confirm. The incredible people at the office truly care and trust their patients. When I call, I always hope Sherri will be the one to answer the phone as she has been there longer than me (and maybe even Dr. Lai?), knows the clinic and Dr. Lai like the back of her hand. I know whatever I share or ask of her, will be handled efficiently and with understanding. About a year into working WITH him, he shared perspective on my pain with myself & my support system that gave clarity, reassurance, and most importantly validation. One just has to join a pain group online, hear about others experiences, to quickly learn how incredible Dr. Lai and his team are for pain patients. Especially as he is an advocate and partner with his patients. I was having a procedure to have a device implanted. The rep, who did not have enough knowledge on the device was part of the procedure. My body was not having it and I was in excruciating pain. She kept wanting to try things that made it worse or could cause harm. He was amazing in letting her know that he was not going to put me through any more torture and that his experience with the device (he'd implanted many) along with knowing me, his patient, made him able to know what I needed. That if she was going to continue to make harmful mistakes, then she needed to leave. He was furious - with her - and 100% on my side. I have been receiving pain management from Dr. Lai for 15 years plus (this is sort of hard to believe). Everyone in this office has been professional and caring, I have had both procedures and office visits, and I have never had a bad experience with anyone here. I have had radiofrequency ablation, steroid shots, and have carried prescriptions with this office for over a decade. This is a preliminary review before I write out my entire experience as a patient with this clinic to the California medical authorities. I only have terrible things to say about them, in particular about SHERRI CHUNG who practices medicine without a license, brutalizes the staff who live in terror of her, and patients as well. This is aside from the issues I had with the doctor at the practice, as well. If you are considering visiting this practice or already are, PLEASE go elsewhere. Sherri needs to not only be fired but banned from working in any healthcare practice anywhere, permanently. SHERRI CHUNG attempted to sabotage my medical care, including tracking down my subsequent doctors after I left PCMG, telling them LIES about my health and mecical records, as she believed I was "faking" my injuries and pains. Well, it's been several years of surgeries since, documenting just how real it was on numerous fronts, and how she single-handedly made it extremely difficult for me to receive medical treatment until years later, including the psychological beating I took over it. Sherri Chung meddles and lies about all the patients who's files she oversees, in particular when she decides she doesn't personally like them for absolutely no legitimate reason (nor would it be allowable OR legal even if she had "reason" to personally dislike them). She is NOT a medical doctor NOR is she even a nurse, she has received NO medical training, and is solely the office manager. How does she have such destructive reign? The owner of the practice, Dr. Larry Ho, personally likes her and refuses to listen to any complains from the bullied staff -- including nurses and techs -- that work there. The other doctor, who was who I saw, also explained he is stuck with her aggression and extreme unprofessionalism due to this same reason. If you're unfortunate enough to have an injection or radiofrequency ablation appointment with PCMG in the early morning hours, you may be exposed to Sheri Chung's screaming fits and attacks in the faces of the techs and nurses who are there just trying to do their job. It never has anything to do with the job they are performing, but her personal feelings about file management and interactions. They all are extremely stressed and worried but stay quiet and hide out of desperation to not lose their jobs. This isn't just a Sherri Chung issue, it's Dr. Larry Ho's direct fault for subjecting such extreme abuse and violation of HIPAA laws in his own practice. Not to say the other doctor doesn't share blame in tolerating it, but Dr. Larry Ho is who insists she remain. I've been going to Dr. Lai for nearly a decade. No dr could figure out what was wrong with me and assumed I was exaggerating. Dr. Lai within one appt figured out a myriad of issues I have that doctors have been unable to figure out. He's performed tons of outpatient procedures, helped me manage fibro and a few other really painful issues. I can say without a doubt he not only helped my body but saved my life. I've recommended tons of people to him and I've heard nothing but great reviews upon their appt. If you have any physical issues, without a doubt go see Dr. Lai. He is a freaking angel, plus he's funny and great bedside manner. Win/win. read more

I have been going to Paincare Medical Group for about 5 months now. I have suffered from low back and cervical neck pain for many years and specifically the last 13 months have been continuous, aggravating pain. There is no such thing as a miracle cure when it comes to this type of pain, so in lieu of a miracle you should at least be able to have a great doctors office to help you manage the process of finding relief. Dr. Lai and his staff are excellent at working through my issues and are always willing to try something new or offer a new option to me. Dr. Lai always listens to my concerns and often times knows what I'm going to tell him before I tell him. He also is great at understanding the psychology around dealing with chronic pain. This is so important because chronic pain is extremely depressing. The staff at Paincare are very accommodating, friendly, and professional. I haven't had any negative experiences even with new staff members who have joined since I started seeing them. I enjoy working with this medical group very much and would highly recommend Dr. Lai and his staff if you have chronic pain. read more

This facility is one of the best. The staff are great and friendly. Dr. Lai really knows his stuff. He genuinely cares and takes care of you. My quality of life has gone up 100% after my treatment in my back and neck. The VA sent me here and I have continued to make sure this is my place of treatment. As far as the guy above complaining about signing a cancellation form, it is still a place of business. Not everything can be a handout. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. read more

I have been suffering from low back pain for over 4 years. Dr. Lai told me very early on to get an injection so I can be pain free for a while and strengthen my abs and lower back but I was hesitant to do that. I took so many other routes like chiro, acupuncture, massages, physical therapy...but nothing really helped. I finally got my injections in Jan of 2017. The procedure was pain free and quick. Dr. Lai told me I might have some soreness the first few days but I didn't have any pain. It has been two and half months and I am doing good. I do Pilates with private instructor. Before getting the injection I could not exercise because my pain would get worse. Now I can do it. I know injection is not a treatment but at least it gave me a break from pain, allowed me to strengthen my back and abs and it was diagnostic to confirm where the problem was coming from. Dr. Lai is a compassionate, friendly, intelligent, and caring doctor. I have had ACL reconstructive knee surgery on both of my knees and I have pain daily. I am too young for knee replacements so I rely on pain management and knee injections. Dr Lai is not a pain pill doctor for those who just are looking for their next fix. He is totally legit and has been my favorite doctor ever. My wife, dad, mom, and mother-in-law have seen Dr. Lai and we just love him dearly. BTW the staff is also friendly and everyone seems like they enjoy their jobs. Dr Lai sets the stage. the VA scheduled me an appointment at this location so I walked in 30 minutes early prior to my appointment since it was my first time there. I filled out everything except the appointment cancellation paper work because due to my work schedule there will be times I have to cancel same day and I shouldn't be charged 25 dollars because I have to cancel same day or 50 dollars because I miss a injection shot. So they turned me away because I wouldn't sign that paper. This is a business that is suppose to help people. These company's are so greedy trying to make a dime on everything they can. read more

I was suffered with shoulder pain for over year. Some of the doctors just prescribe strong pain medication to me, which I dislike to take. My shoulder pain was just getting worse and worse until I met with Dr. Ho & Dr. Lai. Because my shoulder was swelling and I couldn't lift it up at all, he refer me to the physical therapist, Kristen. I really liked her too, and she never forces me like other therapy places. I can't say enough how much I appreciate Dr. Ho and his staff, with out them my life will still be with pain and suffering. I like Dr. Ho, Dr. Lai, their physical therapist and all his staff. They have a nice comfortable waiting area, and office staff always gives you a warm welcome as soon as you walk in to the clinic. Dr. Lai is the most amazing doctor I have found in Orange County. He actually WANTS to help me and not brush me off because I have a complicated case. I have had 3 spinal fusions and have severe nerve pain now. He said he wants to help me and said he will get me out of pain. And so far, I am almost completely out of pain!!! I have seen multiple other pain doctors and received spinal injections in the wrong areas. He studied my case thoroughly and because of that and his extensive knowledge I am a major success story. I must reply that my experiences with Paincare medical group and specifically with Dr. Lai have been nothing short of fabulous. I was a patient for five years with chronic back bain from a fusion gone bad. Dr. Lai explored every option to help me with my situation with the ultimate goal of NOT being a patient anymore. awful! over priced physical therapy! not honest with patient! I don't really know who is responsible for this but it feels like they pretty much tricked me to continue my physical therapy with them. After the first visit, I asked how much I would have to owe for each visit and their response was "nothing". After the first 4 visits I was too busy with work to continue my therapy and had to stop going for a little over a month. At that time they sent me an email saying that I owe them over $550 for just the four visits and that is even after the deductible and the insurance coverage. They are not honest and only out to get your money. The entire staff was very nice and friendly, but i am very disappointed with their service read more

Dr. Lai is a very intelligent MD that has been instrumental in controlling my severe neck and back pain. I have had 4 back surgeries and Dr. Lai has been controlling my pain so I do not have to consider another surgery. I should have gone to him years ago. read more
