Fair is fair. And it wouldn't be if I didn't include the fine points to Painters and those as of late. The entertainment quality has been brought back up. And on some nights I've been there... Improved upon greatly so to where I have a new fav cover band to keep an eye on. Good fun. The bar staff has always been and is, up to this day, top-notch. Fast, attentive, and skilled. It seems the patrons are responding to the mindfulness by keeping the decorum, not rowdy, but risqué and playful??? So... All and all... I keep getting dragged to this place by other people and every time it sucks more. The volume in itself is enough to drive anyone insane. The prices are astronomical. I never in my life saw +14$ to add chicken to a salad lol. No silverware on the table, drinks watered down. I asked if they had Coke or Pepsi, the server said Coke, and then proceeded to say "we'll it's not real coke it's a generic brand" SO ITS NOT COKE! with the prices this place is charging you can't even give your customers real Coke? Loved the fact it was so baby/family friendly for breakfast/brunch. We made reservations ahead of time to request highchairs. There was no rush and nobody felt out of place having the babies with us! Our server was extremely patient with us. We ordered a side of French toast, eggs Benedict, crab cake eggs Benedict, eggs and corned beef hash, and I believe avocado toast. All of the plates are filled with food and definitely enough food but nothing that is over filling! They have tons of brunch drinks to pick from. Will have to take a trip again for dinner! Worst experience we have ever had in a restaurant. We had a 5:30 reservation for 5. It took one hour to get our appetizers. The restaurant was hardly full. By hour 2 our food still hadn't arrived even though several tables seated after us got there food. The waitress's response was that there was a problem in the kitchen and " if you could go back in time and order quesadillas or salads you would have gotten your food" We asked for the manager who never came and was supposedly in the kitchen. I have waitressed for years and this customer service was unacceptable. We asked for our check and left without dinner. Basically ruined our Fathers Day dinner. No apology or effort to make it right. We received a gift certificate for this restaurant and gave it a try (take out). I ordered the gnocchi Mac and cheese for $25.00 my wife had Rocco shrimp $34.00 and our son had a genius burger for $21.00. Their the genius for getting $21.00 for a burger with fry's. None of us were impressed with our dinners. The taste of mine was underwhelming. I'd say it was the same for all our meals. Underwhelming. The staff was very friendly even the person that took our order over the phone. Order was ready by the time I arrived to get it. I'll try them again but for lunch and see how they are. We ordered pulled pork bao buns which was basically some fatty meat on a communion wafer. You could not cut the bun with a knife, could barely bite through it. The simple linguine is just that, simple. It consists of cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, garlic and oil. I personally wish it had more flavor but it's as simple as it comes. I do suggest adding some pepper but overall it was fine. The buffalo chicken grilled cheese was incredible! A large piece of buffalo chicken between two pieces of white bread grilled to perfection with 3 cheeses! It came with a side of bleu cheese and ranch for dipping. We had a terrible experience at Painters on Sunday, June 12th. We had a private party for our kids 1st communion for about 40 people. In short - my catering order was wrong, the food overcooked, and to top it all off, the red velvet cake that I ordered through their pastry chef was RANCID - well the icing was anyway. I should have been suspicious when I didn't have to sign a contract.. I've planned many private events and have always signed a contract, but had friends who had events at Painters and had good experiences, so I took their word for it. Zach - the catering manager is nice on the phone, but not prompt in calling you back. I wish this was my only complaint. The first problem is Zach told me I could drop off additional decorations (just some balloons and a banner - nothing complicated) and well as some other desserts that I could have put out day of that Saturday night (As late as possible) for my event on Sunday at noon. He said the staff would take care of the decorations that morning because we were at the church. When we arrived a little before 12, nothing had been done. Like I said, there wasn't much so we did it ourselves. Zach still hasn't come down to introduce himself. This is unusual since he has been my point of contact for weeks , and at any other event I've planned the catering manager usually avails themselves to the private party - at least as an intro. I won't bore you with the details of the food being wrong - it was wrong, but I wan't going to get into a pissing match with Zach since it was my word against his - again - didn't sign a contract so there is no proof. When dessert came out - the red velvet cake looked beautiful. The problem with the cake was that it tasted like the chef mixed up cream cheese with feta or gorgonzola cheese? It had a distinct sour foot flavor. No one could eat it and Rich our server tried it and gagged. He took it back without delay and stopped people from tasting it. I have no idea what happened but if I didn't know better I would think someone purposely sabotaged the pastry check. It was really bad. Also, Zach never communicated to Rich about the other desserts so that stuff came out late after I asked about them. So they took the cake off the bill ($100). Personally I think they should have knocked more off but at that point I was out of energy to fight. It's Thursday now, and no one from Painter's has tried to reach out to apologize about the cake - which I find terrible. We spent $3000 dollars for a 3 hour party. A call would have been nice. Bottom line - don't book a party here. If you already have - insist on getting every detail in writing and don't be afraid to micromanage because because apparently Zach won't relay anything to his staff unless specifically requested. As an aside, Painters Restaurant and bar basically has good reviews. Do notice though that any bad review they have usually involves a guy named Zach. read more

This is a great restaurant in Patchogue! It has a really chill and cool vibe about it with outdoor seating and a great bar. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't much of a wait. I got a margerhita and my friends and I started with the loaded nachos with shredded chicken. Man oh man those nachos were certainly loaded and so delicious! Definitely one of my favorite nachos that I've ever had because there was a hefty amount of chicken and cheese so that all of the nachos were coated and so yummy. The margherita was just okay, I wasn't too thrilled about it but it was strong enough to get the job done. I got the gnocchi without bacon and the gnocchi was such a huge portion I even took some home! It was perfectly soft and fluffy and delicious, just really really hearty. Or maybe I was just super stuffed from the nachos. My friend got the balsamic quesadilla with cheese and fruit and it was okay, just really dry. The salads are really good here though. So I think I might spring for the salad the next time I'm here. read more

Because of the rainy weather we wanted to go someplace cozy and saw photos that suggested this place might be a good place to try. Unfortunately, I think I wanted to like it more than I actually ended up liking it. To start, where we got seated didn't appear to be in a more quaint part of the establishment like we had seen in pictures. The place is a lot bigger than we thought. We were near the bar, and some huge group was there, or at least everyone seemed to know each other. Between the more party-bar atmosphere and the live music, it was also LOUD. We didn't feel like we could talk to each other much without almost yelling. I don't find that enjoyable for date-night dinner at all. The bread that comes to the table is interesting and different, with garlic and brown sugar butter. I likely would have really enjoyed it except for the nuts or something that made it impossible to chew. I recently had dental work and was seriously afraid it might break a tooth. Get rid of whatever that is all over the loaf! I mean seriously, I had to pick it off to be able to eat the bread at all. My husband wasn't much a fan either. We then had beer and wings and mussels. The wings were pretty good, but the mussels were fantastic. They are served in a hot skillet with a ton of garlic and really we're absolutely delicious. They turned out to be the highlight of the evening. I eat mussels a lot and these were some of the best I've had. For our main dinner hubby had a steak sandwich and I had one of their salads (I wanted the mussels to come out with the salad but my fault for forgetting to tell the waitress that). It was all just okay, nothing special to write home about. We agreed that all but the mussels, none of it was probably anything we'd come back and order again. The potential of this place was really the disappointment. We wanted an eclectic atmosphere where we could have a cozy dinner on a rainy evening, and this just didn't meet those needs. It was different but lacked all sense of romance or coziness. Where we were seated was party-time happy hour and the food wasn't worth putting up with the lack of everything else. It wasn't bad - it was all just mediocre. I'd give it another chance, but next time ask to sit in a quieter location and (unless I want happy hour) maybe even avoid it on a Friday night. read more

Also my daughters small piece of salmon was really dry and brought up to the server and they determined that to more than half was eaten before complaining. Bullshit! But it made sense when we made it aware to the hostess and she said we should have sent our meals back?? Really??? I'm giving them 4 stars even though it's always soooooo loud in there and the women's bathroom is always disgusting, I mean it never fails, always water all over the floor by the toilet and the sinks and toilet paper everywhere. Other than the bathroom being dirty it's actually pretty nice, they have all these different Marilyn Monroe wallpaper. The decor of the restaurant it's very nice, it's artsy and the tables have paper and crayons, so you can draw or play games. Comes in handy and gives you something to do since you can't have a conversation with anyone you're with since music is ridiculously loud. You won't be disappointed with anything you get on the menu(I've tried basically everything) my go to is the blackened shrimp tacos. read more

Not the first time I have been here but this was definitely the first time I was super let down... Was going for a late dinner but luckily I had eaten dinner with my kids on the boat before I went out... We got there on time with our open table reservation she made for 8:30... Our table was waiting and our server was more than great. Gave recommendations on the apps (thankfuly that's all we got). Everything looked and sounded so good. We went with the "mid rare" (well done to the point it was tuff to chew threw) Thai beef skewers... Average taste... But impossible to bit threw... And we got "steak nachos" as recommended by our server. They probably would have been just fine but for some reason the chef cut the "steak" (I think it was skirt steak) the wrong direction... So again way tuffer than needed to be... Idk if my cheaks hurt from chewing so much or smiling from my dinner guests company... I'm pretty sure it was from smiling but those Thai sticks may have added a lil extra pain today... (only kidding around about this last part) Painters... I get it... It was a Thursday... A lil latter at night... Maybe the "good chefs" already left. I didn't complain about it... Im sure they would have remade it... Or who knows... Next time Painters... Next time... The drinks were both good. I loved mine (forget what it was but it had Saint Germain) and she was not a fan of her martini so... We switched drinks and she got mine... I came here about a month ago for brunch with my cousins! When we got here only two of four of us were there (for about a half hour) but the staff let us sit and order drinks while we waiting instead of making us wait until our entire party was there which was great! I ordered the Apple cider sangria and it was delicious! I had checked out the menu before getting there and was excited to see they offered breakfast AND lunch options! That's always a plus for me when I'm going somewhere for brunch since I really don't love most breakfast foods. Once everyone got here we decided to get an appetizer, the buffalo chicken nachos, because someone recommended them! I had been looking over the menu and decided on which entree to get just in time for the nachos to come out. Luckily we decided to snack on the nachos before placing an order for the main dish. After barely getting halfway through the nachos we decided we would just order dessert because there was absolutely no way any of us could order an entree on top of those nachos!!!! They were super filling! They also were quite possibly the best nachos I have ever had!!! They were so delicious, I didn't even care that they had filled me up they were totally worth it! While here another party came in and said they called weeks ago and also had nowhere to set up and they had a bunch of decorations they even had with them. Where to start. Two stars because the food, as most of my times coming here over the past 15 years, was very good. Service excellent. Desserts, off the charts (love Selena). I have had a wedding here, birthday parties, baptisms, post funeral etc. and we have always been pleased with the experience. We LOVE Painters. We came in tonight (05/08/21), a group of 15 (two tables of 16) to do an early Mother's Day Celebration. Let me say, the food was good as always, service excellent. The only downside, and unfortunately it was huge, was the Manager - ZACH. When we arrived, we had two tables of 8 set aside as planned. I had made the arrangements with the Painter's team and I understood the COVID rules that Painters needs to live under. When I went out to the car to get gifts, some of my family thought they could move the two tables closer together. Misunderstanding on their part. We were told otherwise and the folks from the restaurant corrected that mistake. Zach came by and told us 'you are off to a really bad start here' and also told my 75 year old mother, the matriarch of our family that we were there celebrating, that when she tried to squeeze by his side table (an antique as he called it) to use the restroom, it was 'creaking' or that she was somehow doing damage to it. Bottom line, he embarrassed her. I let all that go as I felt let us have our dinner and I must say the wait staff and the food was outstanding. When we when were preparing to leave, I asked to speak with Zach to let him know I thought he was out of line when we arrived. He had me wait 30 minutes, sent the waitstaff back twice telling me he was 'very busy' and tried to send another very nice assistant manager to see of he could help (coward?). I explained I would more comfortable speaking with Zach directly. Zach finally arrived. I told him I was disappointed with his negativity and his embarrassing my mother. Zach was adamant it was our crew that was out out line, not him and took zero accountability for his hurtful words and actions. When I offered to buy his 'antique' table for $2,000 to help him with his obvious concern of our impacting it's value, he accused me of being out of line. I am hoping Zach's manager will read this and let him know there is a way to treat certain folks and a way not too. He has no people skills and seems to pride himself on trying to embarrass others. It amazes me that someone of Zach's age can be so dismissive of people older then him, what a missed opportunity he is having of learning how to live and treat others. Bottom line, he was out of line and told me he would 'sit there all night and never concede being wrong'. I have been to Painters' many times for holiday work parties, family events, and most recently- for brunch. I got there Sunday at 11am for their brunch. I was pleasantly surprised with how quick and delicious my meal was. I had Huevos rancheros and a mimosa. Their orange juice was delicious and seemed fresh squeezed. The meal was filling but not oversized. My only complaint was that it was pretty cold and their restaurant had a really strong smell of bleach cleaner. Other than that, I will be back. Only downside was that we waited about 10min for a hostess to show up when we walked in on a Saturday around 4. We left for a haunted house down the block and returned again same day for drinks and desert, but told even though we just paid over $100 we now had to pay 10 a person to return in the building because a band was playing. Service was very good. I had the panzanella salad which advertised cornbread croutons. Extremely disappointing. I could not recognize what the rubbery croutons were. The supposedly feta cheese, had a terrible consistency as if it was frozen and thawed. However my daughter and husband enjoyed the lettuce wraps and burger. Worst of all they had a political party meeting, which was more like a rally, at the bar and it was very loud and disturbing. The speaker had a microphone and people were cheering, clapping etc; we could not hear each other. the restaurant had a back room which should have been used, rather than disturbing the patrons. I had been here at least twice for drinks but never ate here until yesterday for brunch. My friend who lives in Brookhaven suggested a few other places, but I'm glad we didn't listen. I'll preface the rest of this review by issuing this mandate: If you go here for brunch, you MUST try the fresh squeeze OJ. It's worth every penny of the $4.50 they charge per mason jar. For food, I went with the huevos rancheros and absolutely loved it. The avocado was fresh and the combination of the 3 bean chili, crispy corn tortilla and country style potatoes was like a fiesta in my boca. The chocolate chip pancakes were drier than the Sahara, no matter how much syrup or nearly frozen butter we applied. The french toast, however, did not suffer the same symptom. I didn't try the burrito, but that also looked dry. The stars of this particular experience were hands down the huevos ranchero, the ambience and the service. For that reason, I'm going with 4 stars. Plus I do recall this place being a good time for the night lift. Other: -Our server, Leilani (spelling?) was very pleasant. -The coffee is good and Leilani was just as good about coming around to warm-up my cup. -The ambience is very cool. Take some time to check out all the paintings since you are, after all, in a place called "Painters'" -Also check out all the pennies glued to the bar. They should have a contest similar to "guess how many M&Ms are in the jar." -They have about 4 picnic benches for outdoor dining. -The plumbing in the bathrooms sucks. read more

Went there yesterday Mothers Day for Appetizers and drinks. Got 2 apps and a round of drinks. Drinks were ok and the pretzel app was ok, but the Japanese chicken app was so overpriced and a complete joke. 17 dollars for literally 5 little cubes of chicken with dried shredded tasteless cabbage. I wanted to send it back but our waitress was very sweet and due to it being Mothers Day I didn't want to make waves. My friend and I couldn't decide on a meal so we started with some great appetizers (beef sticks and calamari) they were well priced and very filling. Had lunch here yesterday. The portion of food you receive is huge! Sat at the bar and decided on the "better 'ole burger". You can choose between having it marinated or seasoned. I chose seasoned. It was seasoned with salt, pepper and abodo seasoning. The marinated version would have been in a bbq sauce. When the burger arrived and took my first bite, I was surprised that it also had a slight taste of bacon and smokiness to it- I certainly wasn't mad about that! Fantastic burger overall. Had the sweet potato fries on the side which could have been better. They were slightly mushy and bland tasting. I fixed that by adding my own salt and pepper. After that they were more enjoyable. They have a good selection of brews on tap. I chose the great South Bay blood orange, always a local favorite of mine. I've been here at night when the bands play. Always a good crowd and good music being played. The atmosphere has a bit of an old barn-like feel to it. Very casual and chill. read more
