    Showing off our glowing accessories!

I met up with fellow Yelper Elite Giovanna D. We had fun hanging out and painting! Painting with a Twist is located on S. MacDill about a block to the east of Bayshore in S. Tampa. Very walkable area. Across the street from Datz. The best place to park is in the back of their building and walk around. Parking is limited on the street in this area. I wanted to paint something for my boyfriend for the holidays and Gia was nice enough to agree to my pick, so we painted a black light, northern lights scene. I think both of ours turned out pretty good, albeit better under the black light! LOL Gia's looked better than mine. We went on a Friday night and had some very exuberant groups of young people with us. They were so much fun. Our instructor Nicole held a couple of contests and 4 people got to take home paintings from the gallery. I didn't win and I was insanely jealous! Ha!! The paintings Nicole and the other instructors create are fabulous! They are available to purchase and extremely reasonable prices. What fun gifts! Hmmm.. can I say I painted it?! Lol... I wouldn't do that. Anyone who knows me wouldn't believe me anyway. Nicole gave us step-by-step instructions and came around and helped us out when we made a couple of small mistakes. It moves pretty fast and I struggled a bit to keep up. I think the more you do it, the faster and more comfortable you will get with painting. The 2.5 hours went by so fast! I hope to go back to paint a canvas that includes lights and a do a paint your pet class. Go paint, drink, and be merry at Painting With A Twist!

    Oh Santa, I adore you!

First time at this location, although I've been to painting parties before. I love that this location had not just seasonal offerings like Santa and Snowmen, but also offered the option to paint them on wood instead of just canvas. Very organized place - you buy your ticket online ahead of time, go and check in, and head to your pallet, where your easel is set up with the paint colors you'll be using on a plate below it. Make sure you grab an apron from the middle room so you don't get paint on your clothes - it will NOT come out. Feel free to bring your own beverages and snacks although there is not much time to indulge once the painting starts. The person leading our class was okay. The problem was her back was facing my easel, so everything she did my friends and I could only watch on the monitor on the far wall across the room. As a result, we became a step or two behind the rest of the class. Which is no big deal, because they don't kick you out, but they were definitely ready to leave while we were still putting the finishing touches on our masterpieces. I think they ran late because they were waiting for late people to arrive; they should just start on time and let the stragglers catch up. I would definitely do another event here but I would request to be on the side that can actually see what the artist instructor is painting as she paints it.

Came to a painting with a twist yesterday and it was a wonderful, peaceful class. I had a great time. Nicole was fabulous she was able to help anyone in such a great way made me feel real good about my artwork. Thank you so much, see you very soon!

Of all the Painting with a Twists out there, this location is my favorite! It's like my second home! The owners go out of their way to give back to the community and put in so much care into their business. The artists are fun and help you to paint even if you aren't an artist. If you have a group of 10 or more, private parties are the way to go! Same price as a regular class but you get to pick your painting and have your own room. I've done this option for team building events, birthdays, and even my engagement party was here. I've been with smaller groups too and it is super fun to meet new people and be a part of a public class. Friday and Saturday nights can have a party atmosphere depending on the painting or the class. Really it's hard to find a reason not to go to painting with a twist!

On a whim , I decided to attend a class here last Sunday. My friend and I were looking for something different that was mostly indoors (thanks rain). I will preface this review by saying I am someone with a natural science background who hasn't done any art projects in more than 10 years. I was under the impression that it was freehanded and you can bring booze/snacks if you want. You reserve a spot online beforehand on the company website. You have to pay when you make the reservation FYI. When I got there, the staff was very friendly and guided me to my canvas and gave me a smock, brushes, and 4 different paints on a paper plate.. The instructor was Taylor and she was assisted by Frank. Both were very good about answering questions. My session was 530 - 730 pm . There were 11 girls and I was the only boy lol. Afterwards, they took a picture of all the students and chatted a bit. Misc: They actually had a good retro selection of music which lightened the atmosphere. There is a free small parking lot behind the main entrance that is shared between PWAT and Beefs and a rug company. Negatives: The session per person was $35 which is slightly higher than I was expecting. I think 20-25 would have been ideal. This is subjective ,but I wish the painting I did had more brighter colors. You can theoretically do whatever you want, but being my first time, I was trying to emulate what the instructor was doing. Overall: It's a fun diversion ,but I don't know how often I would come since I'm not that interested in painting.

I always have such a good time at Painting with a Twist! Besides the obvious drinking/socializing aspect, Painting with a Twist offers reasonably priced painting classes $35 for a two hour painting and $45 for a 3 hour session, which includes a high quality wrapped canvas, access to a variety of acrylic paints and brushes, and most importantly, step-by-step instruction delivered by patient, helpful and pretty talented artists. The instructors are incredibly flexible, and will let you make changes to your painting that aren't part of the class...For example: I change up the painting colors almost every time and they easily accommodate me with no complaint at all. Parking at this location is pretty easy if you start looking for spots before you hit the actual venue (plenty of angled spots line the front of shops on the west side of Macdill). They also have a frequent customer program which I understand works via e-mail and rewards people who choose to paint at that particular Painting with a Twist. Painting with a Twist is a great choice for a date night, birthday party, or just a casual night out with family and friends. It's a refreshing alternative to the dinner/movie norm Friday night event. Plus, you can paint on any night of the week!

No plans to quit my day job, but I did have fun painting @ Painting With a Twist!

I painted my first painting at Painting With a Twist in St. Pete and had so much fun! Unfortunately, I had so much fun chit chatting and drinking that I did not finish my painting. Luckily, Painting With a Twist offers free S.O.S. classes the first Saturday of each month. I visited the Tampa location for the S.O.S. class since it is closer to my home. I figured since it was a free class the paint would be provided and we were on our own to finish our paintings. Not only was an instructor present, but she was also really helpful and was eager to help instruct anyone that needed assistance. The Tampa location currently does not allow BYOB liquor like the other locations, but they do offer a coupon for a free glass of wine or beer at Beef O'Brady's next door. The parking lot is very small and is shared with other businesses so arrive early or be prepared to park down the block. Hopefully the Tampa location acquires their liquor license soon because I would love to take another class soon!

Omg!!! My daughter an I had a blast last night at painting with a twist. Our artist was Nicole an she was amazing an patient an made our experience phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this Painting with a Twist location an you have to see Nicole she is the best. We ended up driving about an hour to this location just because they were doing this beautiful painting on my daughters birthday weekend. An other locations were only doing Christmas canvases. We contacted Nicole a few days prior to booking an she made our experience go so smoothly an made it very special for my daughter with it being her birthday an all. She made time for everyone in the class an helped everyone. She made everyone feel special in her own little way. She was great we will definitely be back. Thank you Nicole for an amazing night. She's an amazing artist an can fix any mistake you may think you might of made. Definitely a phenomenal night.

Painting with a Twist is one of my favorite places to get my creative juices following. My fellow Yelper, Sara S. and I decided on a class after receiving their newsletter. PWAT is such a great deal. When you sign up for a class, everything is included: instruction, paints, painting supplies, and a canvas. Most classes are priced for ONLY $35! The added bonus is...it is BYOB! You can drink wine, beer, soda and snack on your own munchies! PWAT also provides plates, napkins, cups, and utensils for their patrons too! "Wicked Moonlight" was the painting we worked on tonight. Pam was our head instructor, and Sharon was her assistant. Pam was a great teacher and taught step-by-step in detail. Her instruction pace was perfect. The only time I fell behind is when I stopped to refill my wine tumbler. This class was full, and I understand why. Our paintings turned out gorgeous! I have been to PWAT several times in the past, but I was never happy with any of my paintings. This masterpiece was the first one I actually was proud of! The staff is always so friendly here and they are more than willing to lend you a helpful hand. PWAT even offers SOS classes one day a month, if you are unhappy with your masterpiece! Be sure to sign up for their emails so you can preview their upcoming classes! I always need more art for my home, so I will definitely be back. I am feeling the need for a future UYE here. Who's in?

Who says it's not fine art?!? ;)
    Michele D.

I'm a stick figure drawing type of person. I am not even capable of drawing a straight line with out some type of curvature or a perfect circle. But why I love this place so much is because you don't have to be perfect. You don't even have to know how to draw! These step by step paintings are easy to follow and pretty much anyone... I mean ANYONE can't fudge this up. It's probably the reason why I have come here several times already and brought guests with me. It's a perfect date night, girls night, de stress night and even a dudes night out. I plan to start hosting my client appreciations parties here at some point. The artists will have a special theme painting specially for your event. So clients have a memorable item to take home. Great way to build rapport and relationships. Besides, who doesn't enjoy trying to paint something new while enjoying some wine?! If your trying to find where to take that special someone they have a date night themed painting. I think it's a great way to start any date or get to know someone. So check this place out! Good luck with your paintings and hopefully you enjoy your time as much as I have!

    Caitlin M.

Awesome date night, girls night, any-night activity. The instructors are extremely helpful and entertaining. They walk you through the entire painting and even assist non-artistic people like myself if you want it. If you're worried about "not being good enough" you're really missing out on a fun experience! You can also bring your own wine and snacks :)

Mother's Day Painting, had a blast!
