As I was en route to my friend's house in Ione, she informed me that she was ordering pizza. Seeing her message made me realize that I had failed to eat dinner, and was very hungry. By the time I arrived, the pizza, salad, and chicken wings had already been delivered. The pizza was half pepperoni, half Hawaiian, and I had at least one slice of each. In my opinion, the pizza was good, but not great. Then again, it's hard to say, since pepperoni is my least favorite flavor. To me, ordering pepperoni pizza is like ordering vanilla ice cream-- it is the most plain and boring flavor. The Hawaiian side was good, but nothing special. Even though the pizza was loaded with toppings, there was something lacking about the flavor. The ham and pepperoni both tasted a little bit less than fresh to me. The wings were great, and were definitely my favorite part of the meal. Since the order only came with eight (and my friend's teenage son was with us), I only had two, but if there were more, I would have eaten more. The salad was fresh, and decent, but, again, nothing special. My friend said that it usually comes with more toppings, but I can only speak to what I witnessed, which was just an okay salad. On the bright side, they did give us LOTS of ranch dressing-- three sides-- but the dressing was also just average, and did not taste like it was made in house. Looking through the pictures, I see lots of other flavors of pizza and salad that I would have rather tried. Obviously, since I wasn't there, I didn't have a say in the selection. In the future, I would like to come back and try some more interesting flavors, to see if I like them better. My friend informed me that the owners are highly supportive of her children's sports teams, which is cool, but is not something that factors into my Yelp review. However, I have a feeling that this may be the explanation for several of the other five star reviews. Overall, this pizza place is pretty average. If you are someone who likes average food-- like, if you dine at McDonald's or Appleby's more than once per decade-- it might be for you. On the other hand, if your taste buds are on the more adventurous side, like mine are, this might not be the right pizza for you. Since I spend a lot of time with this particular friend, there is a pretty good chance that I'll come back in the future to give Paisano's another try.

Cheese and a pepperoni medium pizzas.

Just moved to Ione today and saw this was the local pizza place. Our experience was very nice, ordered for pick up and it was ready a few minutes early. Crust is nice and chewy with a good buttery garlic flavor without being greasy. The cheese pizza for the grandkid and wife had plenty of cheese and got 2 thumbs up. The pepperoni pizza had plenty of toppings and a nice spice to it. Finally the cheese garlic bread sticks were a hit with everyone. We will happily be ordering from here every week or two so stay tuned for more reviews.

Excessive basil and sun dried tomato

Super disappointed. Cute tiny little spot. The service was good but I ordered a Margherita pizza and it was horrible. It was as if sweet tomato paste was just slathered on it, not enough cheese and the basil was shredded and placed on it cold. I ended up picking most of the excessive basil and the sun dried tomato things off. I ordered the cheesy knots they were good but too much pretzel salt. I couldn't finish those either I traveled 25 min to try it out and was left super disappointed

Ouch.. I feel bad for this pizza place.. I walked in to get my pickup order, and one of the men there was arguing with a lady (I think his gf) while he was working. I felt so uncomfortable when I heard the conversation. Least to say, professionalism was not there tonight when I went in. Never coming back..

Very good pizza at a great price. We ordered an xl foothill delight and crazy bread for only 28.95 and it was good. I especially loved the crust! The salad bar was also good with lots of toppings. Wish I would've seen the bad yelp review from a few years ago- I could've got 10% off lol

Ricks half and half no comparison

Not impressed, it's funny to me how the people up here are so deprived of decent food that they praise such rudimentary pizza. You read these reviews and they say "best in amador county" but it's literally just slightly better than a frozen pizza. Sure the staff is nice but the combo sucked. I guess I m just spoiled. Zero comparison between this combination pizza and say a ricks down in Lodi. Of course the response would be "well you are lucky to have anything up here" and yes in 1980 I would agree. But not in 2023. Check out the picture of a ricks vs paisano. To each their own but everyone has an opinion.

Good Pizza, but every time I ask for pizza sauce I get Ranch dressing instead and it goes straight into the garbage. If they could listen to what you order then they would get 5 s

A proper sear adds flavor, but actual char is bitter and completely overpowers the Marsala wine and mushrooms. Large areas of burnt crust aren't just a cosmetic issue--they ruin the dish and should be replaced, not served to a customer. What made it even more disappointing was that I was expecting a fine dining experience. Instead, I've honestly received better food quality and service at much more casual restaurants. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their meals, so unfortunately I seem to have been the exception, but that doesn't make it acceptable. I left feeling frustrated and confused as to how this plate ever made it out of the kitchen. Thank you for your response. I understand restaurants appreciate the opportunity to correct issues while customers are still there. My concern wasn't that the chicken had "grill marks" or that I didn't understand what Chicken Marsala is. The sauce and mushrooms covered the chicken, so I didn't realize how badly it was burnt until I had already taken several bites. Once I moved the sauce aside, I found it was charred to the point that it tasted burnt and was inedible, which is why I left the meal exactly as shown in my photo. I left because I was disappointed, not because I wanted to leave a negative review. Calling me a "keyboard warrior" instead of addressing the condition of the food or why it even came out of the kitchen in that condition in the first place only reinforces why I felt compelled to share my experience at your establishment.

The reviews made it a quick decision to head over to Teresa's Place! As soon as we entered, the staff placed us in a quiet area that made me feel "at home". Servers explained the menu and specials promptly. Warm fresh bread was a perfect starter since we had just enjoyed wine tasting. We ordered the lasagna and chicken D'Aglio. I chose a pesto sauce for my pasta. Their entrees as filling, as these come with minestrone soup, bread, and salad. I couldn't get enough of the croutons, dressing, and garbanzo beans with the fresh, crisp salad! When you're here, make sure to walk around inside to admire the decor and read their family's rich history, including photos with the Pope St. John Paul II. I enjoyed reading a bit of Italy geography and history on the dining table place mat too! This is a big restaurant with plenty of tables, especially ideal for bigger parties like family gatherings. There's so much to see and enjoy while you wait for your food! When I boxed up my leftovers, one of the staff came to me and helped me scrape the creamy, garlic and olive oil sauce from the chicken dish and scrape the pesto from the bottom of the pasta dish into my to-go box. This is the type of personal service I love and appreciate from family-owned restaurants! I'm glad we came across this lovely restaurant with wonderful staff and authentic, delicious Italian food!

I was stranded, hungry, gut gnawing itself in some Dantean ring of small-town purgatory, when out of the fluorescent chaos of a Raley's supermarket, a Gen Z angel with Wi-Fi wings took pity on me. Her phone pulsed like the North Star and she pointed me down to salvation: Teresa's Place. By God, I arrived. The sun was bleeding out across the horizon, Main Street slipping into shadow, and there it was: a glowing sign like a neon Eucharist. Parking lot across the street. The doorway pulled me in like a vacuum cleaner from 1952. Inside: dim red tones, white lights surgical and holy, Brooklyn noir under an Amador County sky. Louie's Restaurant vibes--but Sollozzo ain't getting shot here, sweetheart. No: this is Jackson. This is love. The service? Think grandma with a cigarette in one hand and a stopwatch in the other--warm but brisk, like they've been running this joint since Prohibition and ain't about to let you slow them down. The Chianti comes in buckets. Jaegermeister on the dessert menu--yes, they're serious, yes, you're taking the shot, yes, Jesus himself approves. Now, the food. THE FOOD. It comes in cathedral portions, a medieval banquet dropped in your lap. My chicken parm? Christ Almighty, it was Everest under a landslide of marinara, parsley fresh as a spring fling, pasta al dente enough to play a banjo tune. Before that came minestrone, a salad with Thousand Island like some glorious church picnic of yesteryear, croutons snapping like gunfire. Bread and butter so fresh you want to slap someone. Then dessert: WALNUT PIE. Who makes walnut pie? Teresa's does. Whipped cream piled like the Alps. I licked the plate like a lunatic. Let's be clear: this is no bland Chili's with soul vacuum décor. This is a time machine, a love letter, a belly hug from the Old Country. Cozy, romantic, small-town crickets outside and Sinatra crooning in your bloodstream. And the kicker? The wall of dollars. A shrine of American greenbacks pinned with a tiny Italian flag, Grandma Teresa watching from the photo frame like a saint with marinara rosary beads. Each bill matched, money funneled to five local charities. You eat, you drink, you laugh, you sin, and you walk away knowing your gluttony just saved the world--or at least a piece of Amador County. Five out of five, no hesitation, no irony. Teresa's Place is the real deal, a mad holy Italian fever dream in a town you didn't even know existed. If North Beach has the flash, Jackson has the soul.

With that context, we don't take Italian food lightly. That's exactly why Ippolito's Trattoria stands out. Nick, the owner, is there seven days a week. Whether he's running the kitchen like a true master or walking the dining room checking in with guests, his presence is constant. His wife is often by his side, and together they've built something that feels less like a restaurant and more like a family. The staff reflects that--welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm. Now, the food. The chicken parmigiana is massive--easily two meals--and executed perfectly. The chicken is tender, well-seasoned, and balanced. We usually start with calamari or a shared salad, both consistently excellent. I'm especially particular about carbonara, and this is the only place in Sacramento that truly gets it right. No shortcuts. No cream. No smoked bacon. They respect the tradition--using proper ingredients like guanciale or pancetta and incorporating the egg the way it's meant to be. It's easily the best carbonara I've had in years. The arancini are another highlight. If you've ever made them at home, you know the effort involved--this is the real deal. Crispy outside, rich and flavorful inside, and absolutely authentic. The bread is baked fresh daily by Nick, and it shows. The pasta is artisan-quality, also made fresh, and sourced from a trusted local partner. Every detail reflects care and intention. Dessert is not an afterthought here. The tiramisu--made in-house--is flawless. And the cannoli? Outstanding. The shells have the perfect crunch, and the fillings are rich without being overpowering. Even the pizzelle cookies are done right. It's no surprise they've earned recognition, including: Best Italian Restaurant in Sacramento Best Restaurant Overall in Sacramento Beyond the food, Nick is active in the community and gives back, which only adds to the experience. We've enjoyed this place so much that we've chosen them to cater my 60th birthday for 20 very discerning Italian family members--many of whom we've already brought here, all with the same glowing reactions. If there's any criticism to address, it's usually from people saying the food isn't salty or herb-heavy enough. That misses the point. This is balanced, authentic cooking--where ingredients shine without being masked. I've been to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park dozens of times over the years, and it's a great spot. But when it comes to the Sacramento region, Ippolito's Trattoria is my go-to, without question.
