An Absolute Amador County Treasure! This place has been a staple for over ten years, and it's easily the best hole-in-the-wall spot in all of Amador County. Coming from Southern California, I'm used to places having very limited ingredient options for calzones, but the staff here were so accommodating and made the John special to House for me. Stopped in for a quick lunch and originally planned on a small 8" pizza and a drink. While looking at the menu, the lady behind the counter mentioned their all-you-can-eat pizza, salad bar, and drink for $11. Couldn't pass that up, so I gave it a try. The salad bar had all the classics and was a solid start. Seating consists of five tables for four and two tables for six. Unfortunately, three of the tables weren't cleaned and still had crumbs all over them. When I arrived, only one couple was dining in, so it wasn't busy--plenty of time to wipe things down. I picked the least dirty table available, but during the 25 minutes I was there, no tables were ever cleaned. On the bright side, the pizza was hot and fresh. I tried sausage & bacon, pepperoni, ham & pineapple, and the cheesy pizza. Everything tasted good, and the cheesy pizza had a nice crunchy bottom. Just a heads-up: the metal pizza tins come out extremely hot--I learned the hard way when grabbing a slice of cheese pizza. Overall: good pizza and a great lunch deal for the price. read more

As I was en route to my friend's house in Ione, she informed me that she was ordering pizza. Seeing her message made me realize that I had failed to eat dinner, and was very hungry. By the time I arrived, the pizza, salad, and chicken wings had already been delivered. The pizza was half pepperoni, half Hawaiian, and I had at least one slice of each. In my opinion, the pizza was good, but not great. Then again, it's hard to say, since pepperoni is my least favorite flavor. To me, ordering pepperoni pizza is like ordering vanilla ice cream-- it is the most plain and boring flavor. The Hawaiian side was good, but nothing special. Even though the pizza was loaded with toppings, there was something lacking about the flavor. The ham and pepperoni both tasted a little bit less than fresh to me. The wings were great, and were definitely my favorite part of the meal. Since the order only came with eight (and my friend's teenage son was with us), I only had two, but if there were more, I would have eaten more. The salad was fresh, and decent, but, again, nothing special. My friend said that it usually comes with more toppings, but I can only speak to what I witnessed, which was just an okay salad. On the bright side, they did give us LOTS of ranch dressing-- three sides-- but the dressing was also just average, and did not taste like it was made in house. Looking through the pictures, I see lots of other flavors of pizza and salad that I would have rather tried. Obviously, since I wasn't there, I didn't have a say in the selection. In the future, I would like to come back and try some more interesting flavors, to see if I like them better. My friend informed me that the owners are highly supportive of her children's sports teams, which is cool, but is not something that factors into my Yelp review. However, I have a feeling that this may be the explanation for several of the other five star reviews. Overall, this pizza place is pretty average. If you are someone who likes average food-- like, if you dine at McDonald's or Appleby's more than once per decade-- it might be for you. On the other hand, if your taste buds are on the more adventurous side, like mine are, this might not be the right pizza for you. Since I spend a lot of time with this particular friend, there is a pretty good chance that I'll come back in the future to give Paisano's another try. read more

Just moved to Ione today and saw this was the local pizza place. Our experience was very nice, ordered for pick up and it was ready a few minutes early. Crust is nice and chewy with a good buttery garlic flavor without being greasy. The cheese pizza for the grandkid and wife had plenty of cheese and got 2 thumbs up. The pepperoni pizza had plenty of toppings and a nice spice to it. Finally the cheese garlic bread sticks were a hit with everyone. We will happily be ordering from here every week or two so stay tuned for more reviews. read more

It was as if sweet tomato paste was just slathered on it, not enough cheese and the basil was shredded and placed on it cold. I ended up picking most of the excessive basil and the sun dried tomato things off. I ordered the cheesy knots they were good but too much pretzel salt. A place located in the town's plaza; neighboring between the grocery center, and the nextdoor Subway. When I first walked into Paisano's, the manifest given by the Pizzeria was a "Sit down and wait for your order" type of place as of the 3-4 people I noticed actively waiting for their to-go order. However, the interior design was decorated enough to satisfy an in house diner, having craine machines, sticker machines, paintings, comfortable chairs, etc. The place also depicted a need for staff/employees, but seems like it stood stable with the limited amount they had. Lastly, the food. I ordered a medium sized thin crust pepperoni, mushroom, and black olive pizza. The vegetables and pepperoni were deemed fresh and delicious to me, and I wondered if they bought the produce from the grocery store nextdoor (I didn't ask them unfortunately) but it would make sense as how local the place was. Carrying on, the dough was above average, having a nice soft texture, being backed up by a nice and smooth garlic buttered crust. I noticed the tomato sauce was also high in quality tasting amazing. Easy and quick accessibility Pizza being one of them lol. The local pizza we have in town, which I will remain nameless, is pretty bad. Service and taste of pie is a little sub-par, if you will. And that's being nice btw. Ione is only 20 minutes away and such abprwtty drive. Ordered 1/2 veggie with that yummy pesto sauce and 1/2 all meat with that yummy marinara sauce. What can we say? It was pretty damn delicious. Service? I did a pick up and service was on point. Friendly, accommodating and perfect timing. You have officially become our new go-to spot for pizza! Not impressed, it's funny to me how the people up here are so deprived of decent food that they praise such rudimentary pizza. You read these reviews and they say "best in amador county" but it's literally just slightly better than a frozen pizza. Sure the staff is nice but the combo sucked. I guess I m just spoiled. Zero comparison between this combination pizza and say a ricks down in Lodi. Of course the response would be "well you are lucky to have anything up here" and yes in 1980 I would agree. Got a small thin crust bbq pizza last week and it was lousy. It wasn't thin at all and the bottom of the crust was wet and soggy. Very little toppings were on the pizza. I have been ordering pizza from here for years. Not consistent at all. One time ok the other,bad. So many young employees that need more training. This pizza place is immaculate, and the people working there are pleasant. Somehow they seem to have little to no knowledge of pizza making. I ordered a margherita pizza. It took awhile. They must have made it from scratch, and it looked pretty. The crust had the texture of ordinary warm bread though. It wasn't crisp at all. The flavor of the sauce was bitter, like Contadina tomato paste straight out of the can. The bright green cilantro and cheese were overwhelmed by this bitter, flavor. I didn't see any trace of a tomato. I couldn't sense any garlic or salt. It's as if no Italian person was ever consulted about making this pizza. read more

I thought it time to write an update on the Ione Paisano's. Their pizza has done nothing but get better over the last couple of years. Their pizzas are always generously loaded with the freshest ingredients and are reasonably priced. I would compare their pizzas to any including the expensive place in Sutter Creek. I especially like their take and bake pizzas; very reasonable in price and easy to take home and place in the oven for a fresh baked pizza. I defy you to find a better pizza in Amador county, especially for the price. Well worth it. read more

I am a regular customer at Paisanos because they have the best Italian style pizza in the Sacramento area, worth the drive to Ione. The dough is fresh rolled out properly, the sauce is tasty, the cheese blend is perfect and they use just the right amount of toppings. My request for "light sauce" is always accommodated. We ordered a half and half pizza. One half was chicken pesto and the other half pepperoni. I really liked the flavor in the chicken pesto. The pepperoni side was average tasting. We also ordered garlic bread and it was my favorite part of the meal because it was just a really good pizza crust with a genuine garlicky, buttery flavor. Idk why I stoped ordering from here. For some reason the last few pizza deliveries I've ordered have been from pizza factory. Today I ordered paisanos and the difference was night and day. The thick crust is actually thick. The quality was hands down so much better. The delivery was fast and they included peppers and ranch free of charge which I really appreciate.
