I love fresh seafood and Pa'La did deliver that, but it seemed expensive for a walk up to the counter restaurant and I did not like what I ordered which was the Farro Shrimp Bowl. There were only a few shrimp and I wasn't a fan of the farro. On a positive note, the mussels and burrata appetizers were very good. I love the fact that their menu changes everyday based on the freshest and locally sourced ingredients, but I probably will not be back. read more

On a whim we stopped in for lunch and found this place to be so cute! Really nice ambiance, great service, and food was so fresh tasting! I tried the Navarro bowl and didn't realize when ordering it was more of a cold kind of vinegary "salad " type of dish, husband and I both agreed it was delicious but in small quantities and would order it again but thought it would be better as a side to share among 3-4 people. Shrimp tapa was very tasty but small, only 2 small shrimp, but very good. The tuna sandwich was the real winner though! Everything about it was beyond perfect and can't recommend this enough! Decided to have dinner here based on some great reviews on Yelp. The restaurant wasn't what we were expecting, but we decided to stay and try the food. Boy were we glad we did. You order at the counter and take a seat, when food is ready, a runner brings it to you. We started with the green olives and almonds. They were tossed lightly with an oil based dressing that had a little heat to it. Really tasty. We then had the Bufala mozzarella served with diced sweet tomatoes over a spicily dressed arugula salad with schuacciata bread. Amazing! We then had two different grain bowls, one with shrimp and the other with haddock. So delicious. Roasted variety of grains and veggies. Farro was a nice touch. I especially loved the beets. The wood burning oven gives the food s smoky flavor. We will definitely return. read more

Cute little spot in Phoenix! Went for Friday lunch with my friend, their outdoor seating area is perfect to sit out for lunch with beautiful weather. Their menu changes day to day, we shared mozzarella (serve for 2), and grouper Navarro bowl. It was perfect amount to share and it was so delicious! Mozzarella was so soft, tasteful, and go along very well with olive oil brushed on the top with arugula and tomato. Grouper was very well cooked and the grain mix underneath was really delicious. The price seems a little higher than other places, but I believe that's because their ingredients are all fresh. This is one of the best restaurants in all of Arizona. The food choices are healthy and tasty. My favorite dish so far is the ancient grains with seafood on top. Every week the owner and head chef has different fish flown in from Alaska and well prepared. You can tell he has a real love for food and the environment, the history and where the food comes from. A nice bungalow house that is now a casual restaurant. Their menu is simple but different. They have a good size parking lot in the rear and a big patio. We came for the seafood. We went here for dinner while visiting from out of town and loved it. I love that this place is laidback and casual with a cute patio, but the food is amazing with high quality ingredients. An hour ago, I didn't know this place existed. I stumbled on it while having beers at Wren House. It is tremendous and different from the rest of the crowd. My navarro bowl with skate has an incredible mess of grains and legumes. My wife's mussels are as good as we've had anywhere. We just recently had a company event at the Downtown location, and all I can say is WOW!!! We had the 2nd floor lounge all to ourselves, which has a large beautiful bar, white couches, high tops...perfect vibe for what we were looking for! The entire front of the lounge opened up to the balcony. Just a great atmosphere! The food...phenomenal! Fresh and delicious. And the drinks were flowing all night long! But the absolute BEST thing about this venue is the service we received from the amazing staff!!! The event coordinator, Tai, was extremely accommodating throughout the booking and planning process (we were coming from NY and had never seen the space, so everything was done virtually). She was always extremely quick to reply to every email, and "no" was never an answer to any of my requests. From the second we walked in to the place a few hours prior to the event, we were greeted with smiles and hugs. We felt so extremely welcomed! Tai and her staff immediately grabbed our photo banner and hung it for us. Everyone came to shake our hands and introduce themselves to us. We had initially chosen a more "tapas" style menu, but we quickly realized that the crowd was hungry, so Tai ran right to the chef to accommodate, and we had steaks, pork belly, and fresh oysters out in no time! The bartenders and servers were so attentive, making sure everyone was taken care of all night. And they were so much fun to hang with too! The owner introduced himself to us and thanked us for our business. He jumped behind the bar when it got a little busy, and he surprised us with a DJ for the evening (which made the night)! Get there early before they sell out! 1) I always order at least one appetiser and then their Navarro Bowl. Mainly because I want to order everything! I love the avocado toasts + peeky toe crab (whenever I see it as an option). 2) Navarro Bowls usually have some sort of fish (scallop, gulf shrimp etc ) sourced from Nelson's Meat + Fish. I believe it was undercooked because they had to rush to cook it before they closed, after they realized they were out if what we ordered, this took them 20 minutes to realize though, we sat with no one taking any order for 15 minutes, then they took it, 20 minutes go by, they say the internet went down and our order was lost, but it's not until much later that they say they are out of what we ordered. They gave me two free shrimp for my troubles but I think it was because they accidentally cooked more than one. It was as though the staff had no idea how to run a restaurant. I've never experienced service this bad ever, anywhere, we were there 2 hours in total waiting for things. 2/7/23, I'm increasing my rating because the manager worked with me to "make this right", I appreciate that, maybe we'll give it a shot another time. read more

Our first visit rated a 5-star rating. Small interior (nice patio space when it gets below triple digits), order from a small hand-written menu. Biodegradable plates and cutlery, which fit the fast-casual category. We were fortunate to arrive right as they reopened for the dinner hours, and the chef (I think) walked us through the menu. We ordered a couple of appetizers (skinny anchovy-type fish on fresh made crackers) and fabulous olives and marinated almonds. My hubby ordered the Navarro bowl with seared tuna and I got the soup with mussels and cod. Both were fresh tasting, healthy, and DELICIOUS! I'm excited to have found this place. Amazing. We had the anchovies tapas - anchovies in vinegar. If you like mackerel sushi you would love this dish. We also had the mussels & hake in a tomato based broth. Fantastic. The broth was rich and complex. Saving the best for last - the Navarro bowl. This is one of the best dishes I've ever had. A mix of grains, beans, vegetables, dressing, spices, and diver scallops. An incredible mix of favors and textures. The ambiance is casual/classy. It's counter service, but the chef comes to your table and can answer whatever questions you have. The bowls and flatware are all made from a balsa like wood that is compostable and was fun to eat with. They also have a nice patio for outdoor dining. We will definitely be back! read more

Pa'la is a converted house with a very interesting menu. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and were given a warm greeting by a staff member. The menu is small and changes daily, we were given a detailed explanation of each dish and also recommendations on how much to order. We decided on the manchego and salami tapas, ceviche and the Roman Navarro grain bowl with albacore tuna. The manchego was rich in flavor and the salami was high quality. The ceviche had a lot of dynamic textures, the fish was fresh and I really liked the crunch of the corn nuts and flavor of the peppers. The grain bowl was awesome, healthy yet delicious and the tuna was perfectly cooked and a great cut of fish. I've been following their social media and they've recently announced that they will be open for dinner which is awesome! I cant wait to return and try more of the menu. read more

Chef Claudio is back. This time he has gutted an old white house on 24th Street and converted it into a casual dining treat for lunch or dinner. Pa'la ingredients are shopped fresh on a daily basis. If ingredients are not fresh or at their peak goodness, then they don't make it on the menu for the day. You can expect an always revolving menu. I came in to enjoy lunch. Claudio started me off with a dish of picholine olives and spicy marcona almonds. Next out came the burratina and olive oil served with wedges of fresh fire-roasted bread. I was curious about the special Izzio rye bread which Claudio toasted in the wood oven and then topped with avocado mixed with tasty oil and herbs. Finally came my lunch. I probably could have stopped right there, but the presentation of the spicy copa and mozzarella topped with greens and cuerno de toro peppers, served open-face on wood-fired flatbread was too much for my taste buds to resist. I thought I might save some for later, but then looked down on my plate and everything was gone. You can dine indoors or enjoy a beautiful day on the new wood deck patio. Either way, you are sure to enjoy something very good, very different and made with only the best ingredients.
