We pop'd in here last minute and I'm glad we did. We got there at opening and we got seated on the patio per our request. The heat wasn't extreme outside and the misting system on the patio made it nice. The trees provide a nice amount of shade. We ordered a nice crisp bottle of chardonnay which hit the spot. We started with some prawns and they didn't disappoint. The shishito peppers were a nice hint of spice and flavor. The main for both was the 14oz ribeye and we also got the Japanese sweet potato. Pa'La is a tapas style restaurant that prides themselves in wood-fired cooking and sourcing high quality ingredients. My husband and I came here for lunch on Valentine's Day and it was fantastic! We were seated outside on the patio, it was lovely as the weather was perfect. They had many plants and trees including a lemon and grapefruit tree! We ordered a variety dishes to share like the beef tartare with squid ink milk bread, Japanese sweet potato, Spanish octopus, golden beets and roasted cauliflower. I was impressed with everything. You can taste the quality in each ingredient and I appreciate that. My husband and I agreed that the Spanish octopus was our favorite dish. It was the best octopus I've had in a while, the char flavor and slight crisp was amazing. We enjoyed the creamy sauce, artichokes, and other veggies that came with this dish. The cauliflower and golden beets were incredible too. The chef told us that the Japanese sweet potato was one of the popular dishes, but out of everything we ordered, it was surprisingly my least favorite. It was still good but everything else tasted better to me. Pa'La is a bit pricey but the quality makes up for it. Omg, one of my favorite dining experiences of 2025! I came to Pa'La on a Tuesday night with friends and we shared several plates that were all absolutely fantastic! On top of that, the service was incredible. The main host, chef? Idk, but either way, he educated us on every dish, was clever and witty, and made us feel so comfortable. It's a very intimate setting, cozy, and feels like a romantic or chill evening. I felt so satisfied after this visit in every way and I can't wait to go back! EVERYTHING we ordered was fantastic and we all wanted to wipe our plates clean... what I really mean is lick the plates... and I'm pretty sure we were trying to do this but in a nicer way. I'll start off with a story from our night's meal. A dog, with no owner, greets us at the outdoor patio while my date and I are enjoying wine. We pet him, and wait. Eventually our server/manager comes to bring us the Tomato Crudo Special. His name is Randy. He leaves us the dish and sees us with the stray dog. Only after asking, petting, and realizing he's lost his owner, we see him take the dog off the wood porch. He gives him water (it's 108F currently per weather app) and -- I kid you not-- takes him a good 40-50 yards to neighboring houses to knock door-to-door searching for his owner... (Four houses in, he finds a person willing to take him temporarily, to notify the necessary authorities so the dog can be taken care of). Now. The food was incredible, even after his schpeal on farm to table, this particular location being the experimental grounds for exciting new dishes, and overall intimacy and service. For reference we had the Tomato Crudo special, Pork Rib, Pork Belly, and King Oyster Mushroom Risotto. I HIGHLY recommend the mushroom risotto, be brave. TLDR: service was a 17/10, food was fun and exotic, it made for an incredible date night experience. I hope Randy is your server, though I'm sure anyone else will be just as great. read more

I have been wanting to come here for a long time and finally made it for a meal. The restaurant is small and busy, so make reservations! The indoor seating was booked up, so we sat outside. It is a cute little patio, though there were a couple little ants running around on the table (I was worried they would run onto my plate!) and I think I got at least one mosquito bite sitting out there too - it might be helpful to wear long pants to keep the bugs from biting your legs! The other downside to the patio was the noise from street traffic. The restaurant is located on 24th st, which is busy! The service was very good, though because it was so busy, it took a while to get the check to pay at the end of the meal (we had to go into the restaurant to flag down the server). The food was solid. We ordered a few tapas dishes: the pork belly lettuce cups, polenta, hummus, and grilled octopus. Off the daily menu, we ordered the heirloom carrot dish and the miso black cod. If I had to make any critique, it would be that the octopus was a bit rubbery, but that might just be due to the constraints of the way the cook the food here (wood fired grill). My husband and I came here because we love the other pala restaurant downtown and wanted to see how this one did. Gotta say this place was as good as the other one! They have a slightly different cuisine and focus more on smaller dishes and seafood, but all the dishes we ordered were amazing. The seafood was fresh and cooked delicately. The sauces used in those dishes really highlight the umami flavor. The restaurant was in a cute house, which was nicely decorated by the owner. We had tickets to a show at Celebrity Theatre so I made a dinner reservation here. Both the indoor and outdoor dining areas are beautiful and inviting. We were welcomed warmly by our server who explained the concept and the menu. We tried a few items and shared all of them. There are heaters and string lights to stay warm and make a nice relaxed vibe. Service was fanstastic and they helped me create a simple cocktail when they were out of the one I wanted. Look at the specials written inside above the chef, there will be more items than on the printed menu. Bone Marrow Appetizer: Comes with black bread for dipping, I saw they changed the menu to be sourdough now and I think thats a better pairing. Bone Marrow was fantastic. Shrimp Salad: 3 huge pieces of shrimp, the greens part were all locally sourced and an off mix of bitter, roots, and peppery. Would have preferred some more traditional greens mixed in. Scallops: We ordered two of these for 2 families, one wasn't enough. Delicious and slightly spicy with crunchy bits on top for more texture with each bite. Spanish Iberico Pork: "True" Iberico from Spain, cooked bone-in for more flavor. We trust the cooks judgement but it looked quite rare for something that has so much fat content it would have been just as tasty cooked medium. Rich, nutty taste, I swear I could taste a hint of acorn from the pigs diet. Prime Ribeye: This was so perfect rare and with a nice char on it, you can't get much better than the grilled taste you get from cooking on wood, we cleared the plate completely. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed our Valentines Day night at Pa'la. We had the four course special with the wine pairing. Upon entering I do wish they had a hostess stand it feels kind of awkward not knowing where to stand. Aside from that the meal was amazing. The pasta which I did not get a picture of was the best thing. I love the wood-fired crust it had on it and the flavor was amazing. The second best was the ribeye I don't know what else to say besides it was outstanding and cooked to perfection! For the wine tasting I wish they did a Sauvignon blanc instead of Chardonnay but maybe that's just a personal preference. The dessert served with the course was a grapefruit cake with a mascarpone topping it was the perfect subtly sweet way to top off the evening I will definitely be retuning to try more of their menu especially since it changes seasonally! read more

We had a party of 5 so I was able to taste test several menu items ordered by our table. Hummus - very tasty, homemade hummus; very stingy portion of bread, would be low cost to provide a 2nd piece Octopus - only my second time trying octopus and it was a much better experience than my first. I liked it and it seemed cooked just right. Eggplant - so delicious, I loved the dish Shrimp (2 grilled shrimp @ $6 each) - again very good Tuna sandwich - very good as well So no disappointments in the food itself. I did think the prices were a little too high on all the non-sandwich menu items. The server seemed a little irritated with us over some indecision on what to order and timing, we had some older members of our party and I wish he would have been more patient/understanding. There was only one other occupied table indoors and one on the patio. Not a whole lot of ambiance indoors, the books around looked super interesting and had I been dining alone I wouldn't have been able to resist picking one up. What a great experience! Had a reservation on a Saturday night and were promptly seated. We each had a cocktail Martini for me and a Rhubarb Cosmopolitan for my wife. Randy suggested a Chilean Cabernet that was peppery and delicious. We finished with flan that was light and fluffy and a really wonderful dessert. We ordered drinks and the server walked us through the menu. Two of us got the tasting menu and two ordered a la carte. We all were able to try most of the menu which was awesome! The food is made to order, so when it is done, it comes out, so know that going in. The food was paced well throughout the meal. The pork belly lettuce wraps were good. The hummus and beef tartare were delicious! The octopus was cooked well and the sauce it was in was so good! The pasta dish might have been our favorite of the evening. The whole branzino was delicious and the remoulade on top pair perfectly with it for a wonderful bite. The main proteins we got to try were the iberico pork and the steak option. Both were good, but the steak took the edge as it was paired with mushrooms and a garlic herb butter. For desert we all split the flan and after all the food. Hands down the best meal I've had in a very long time. We had a party of 5 and we chose the 4 course meal. We had the very old fashioned, a rhubarb cocktail, and a local beer from Wren House next door. For the meal, we didn't know what to expect but the host was great at laying out each course as it arrived and the food came out perfectly timed. Everything is cooked wood-fired so we knew to maybe not expect that but they exceeded our expectations. I'm very grateful for such a wonderful experience! Even my 11 year old was eating foods I never thought he'd entertain trying! I'll be coming back and highly recommend the flan, the salmon crudo, and the steak with the Japanese sweet potatoes. First course was a feta/pita spread 2nd: scallops (sooo good) 3rd: grilled shrimp (tad spicy) 4th: corn dish 5th: bone marrow and anchovies (amazing) 6th: fish 7th: steam with Gorgonzola 8th: chocolate cherry cake Colin was the lead for our table and did a very nice job at making sure we were all taken care of! This was a family style atmosphere on the patio which was set up very nicely! Very cute vibe! I do wish there was a print out of all the food that we had because I couldn't remember at the end of the night. There was also wine on the table and maybe more whites and less reds (there were a lot of reds left and no whites). Highly reccomend and can't wait to come back and try the menu options! Went here for a graduation dinner... I really enjoyed the vibe here, the 24th st location has a patio that wraps halfway of the restaurant with firefly lights in warm yellow it sets a very cozy mood. The manager I think it was explained to us the menu and was friendly and sharing the history of the place and their ethos in cooking. We ordered the wild shrimp with grains, the shrimp was flavored well but the grains for me had some that were harder to chew. We also got the k4 state flank steak which was my favorite, cooked medium rare and with bold flavors that had a kick to it but didn't lose the steak flavor . The polenta was an extra dish we tried but we could maybe switch it with another dish for next time. Another favorite is the Japanese sweet potato that our server mentioned is their specialty... the flavors were sweet and spicy, the texture was creamy on the inside but outside was nice and crunch, I absolutely enjoyed that dish. We were lucky that a friend was able to book us a last-minute reservation on Valentine's Day, which felt like a win in itself. It was definitely a good call that we took a rideshare -- there was an event at the symphony that night, and with already limited parking, it would have been even tougher to navigate. Pa'La has an intimate feel without being stuffy, and the live music adds the perfect touch. It's lively, but you can still comfortably have a conversation. There's a two-hour maximum, but we never felt rushed. The service really stood out. The waiters were extremely informative, and you can tell they're well trained. One mentioned that part of their training is to take guests through a confident, sensory-driven description of each dish -- and they absolutely delivered. The way they described the food and drinks helped me fully envision each plate before it arrived, and the flavors matched those descriptions perfectly. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, and the flan was hands down one of the best desserts I've ever had. It's important to remember this is tapas-style dining. We were a group of four and ordered burrata, pork belly, brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, mahi, ribeye, and branzino. With the small plates, we each sampled a few bites of every appetizer and side, along with slightly larger portions of the main dishes -- enough to taste and enjoy everything. We left completely satisfied, but not overly full. The price is completely justified by the quality of the food and the overall experience. We'll definitely return the next time we're in Arizona -- already looking forward to round two. read more

Words can't describe how delicious it was, but I will try my best to explain our experience. My boyfriend and I shared all these plates. We started with the yellowtail crudo with sungold tomato, tomato ponzu, and lime. I had 3 top dishes and this 1 of 3. I loved the blend of the flavors to make this crudo. 10/10! Delicious! Presentation was spectacular! Next, we had sungold gazpacho with ricotta and Za'Atar. Another of my top 3 dishes for lunch. Beautiful vibrant color with an amazing presentation. If you never had gazpacho this is a great one to have. I love gazpacho and this hit the spot and is great for a hot summer. Very refreshing and flavorful. Third, on our experience for lunch was the Spanish octopus with purple potatoes, parsnip, and Chimayo glaze. The octopus could have been more tender instead of chewy but that base and glaze definitely made up for it and made it complete and yummy. Fourth, was the wild Mexican shrimp with a sour plum butter. It comes with 3 big shrimp but you can add a shrimp for $5.00 which we did. What made the dish special surprisingly wasn't the shrimp but the to die for sour plum butter ! Fifth, we had the pasta. Squid ink bucatini with pork belly, yuzu miso, and pecorino toscano. One of my top 3 dishes of the day. Plenty of pork belly with amazing flavor and texture of the pasta. Absolutely amazing ! Finally, we ended with the dessert. It was a dulce the leche cheesecake with strawberries and cream. I'm hesitant with desserts because I am not much of sweet tooth and it needs to be yummy for me to want to take on those extra calories, but I gave it a shot. Wow! Surprised me! Dulce de leche can be overpowering but not in this case. It was perfect. The consistency of the cheesecake itself was perfect. I don't also like strawberry or fruit added to cheesecake but this didn't seem to take away the attention from the actual main show of the cheesecake. Delicious I definitely will be going back! Great service, beautiful spot, clean, lovely presentation of food, good quality food, delicious food, great flavors. Best of all I felt this was fine dining at a decent price. Amazing experience!
