I absolutely love Palace Arts Theatre. The staff are always friendly and helpful, you can definitely tell they are very passionate about the conservation of the theatre and old movies. As far as selection goes, they play a mix of older and newer classics and some live shows too. The first time I went I saw Casablanca for the first time, and it was such a memorable experience. It definitely took me back in time. Tickets are only $6 and it seems like most live shows are around $50. Definitely worth to experience it! read more

First, I have to say the ushers are so amazingly friendly and helpful! So, let me get to the huge problem. I purchased tickets to the Walkin the Line concert (which was awesome!). I purchased and chose my seats at an optimum time as I could practically choose any seat. I chose the first two seats on the first row of the upper balcony so I would not have to look around heads in front of me due to the fact I'm short. Once I arrived at my seats, they had changed my seats to the very last row, in the corner, next to a cement wall!!! Worst Seats!!! At first I thought, maybe I didn't understand their seating but then the person who sat next to me was telling her family that she thought she had purchased front row tickets. I "butted in" and said I did the same! Come to find out, our whole row had their front row seats changed to the last row too!! OMG! I enjoyed the show then afterwards I requested to speak to the manager. I explained what had happened. Her response...I'm sorry. She didn't offer to get my number so she could call me after she found out how this had happened. Absolutely nothing! Worthless!! read more

What a cute little theatre! It's nice to run into these small old timey towns and the theatre still serving its original purpose. We caught a Christmas movie (Muppets) matinee and the tickets were reasonably priced and it gave us an hour and a half break from the cold. The snacks available were also not super expensive and they had the movie theatre staples. The theatre doesn't have cup holders so keep that in mind when ordering snacks. If you're short or bringing a child and an adult decides to sit in front of you (when there are plenty of other seats available) you'll be viewing the back of someone's head. read more

Took the wife to see the Texas Tenors, Dec. 7th, 2022. Pros: Concert was good. Enough AC to keep from getting too warm. Theater itself was clean. Cons: Seats are too low down to be comfortable. Restrooms were a mess by intermission. There was not enough people there to warrant this. No Alcohol available at concessions. Parking was behind the theater, in a rather dark area. Not the safest at 1000 PM. Buses loading in front of theater, causing traffic snarls. Liked the group, and the show, but theater has too many issues for us to return there in the future. read more

What a great theater. So much good in this place and the vibe there is welcoming and comfortable. You enter and it gives off that small town feel with the stage and screen paired with the plush seats, including the two-person options. It is just charming in every way. We went to see the showing of Breakfast at Tiffany's on a Saturday. Got there around 7:15 and were able to still get great seats. I loved that there's no previews and a lady came up, gave a little history about the movie and on it went. There's a balcony area also if you want to get that true small theater vibe but we sat in the middle. Absolutely delightful place. The concessions are also the best deal in town. $2 for a large drink, popcorn with sprinkle bottles in every flavor. Even boxed candy was within reason. For the 2 of us it was $12 total for the tickets. You can't beat that for a night out. read more

Grapevine does a fun and festive job of transforming into a Christmas destination at this time of year. Me and my daughter went to see the Charlie Brown Christmas/ How the Grinch Stole Christmas double feature on Saturday at 2. The theater was packed with happy people of all ages and the staff was so friendly and full of the Christmas cheer that makes this season so great. Tickets are only $6.00 for the movie classics in the historic theater. I definitely recommend a visit. It's a lot of fun. read more

My husband and I were married there in October and we were so happy with our decision. I had wanted to get married on White Rock Lake but we had lost out on our date and I was so concerned about finding a new location for a popular time of year. I googled places in Grapevine and came across this gem. Nadine was a godsend. She helped so much and was so nice. Also you are able to get your name added to the movie marquee which was a great touch and there are alot of great spots for photos. The venue was exactly what we were looking for. The wood floors and exposed brick walls were a great backdrop. I refused to spend an arm and a leg for our wedding but still wanted it to look beautiful and we were able to achieve that. Burning time to make our flight out of Dallas, we took some of it to tour Grapevine and were treated to an impressive revue of local talent dancing their hearts out to a full house in the modern, clean and heavenly-cool theater. All for free. Dance after dance, these locals swung and swayed, bounced and strutted across the stage with renditions from Bob Fosse's "All That Jazz" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7CeATYYlb0) to Magenta & Riff-Raff thrusting pelvises to the "Time Warp", we wanted more but our plane, which we missed, was waiting. The Monday night before Christmas and the city of Grapevine is full of Christmas cheer, what a lovely surprise! The Palace Theatre shows Christmas movies during the season, I came to see It's a Wonderful Life (1946) on the big screen. The screen is on the smaller side, but it's still magical to see the old classics in a theatre. The movies sell out each night, I recommend you plan ahead! Tickets are only $6 (: The concession stand has popcorn ranging from $1 - $4 and soda and candy for $1. This is definitely an old school theatre built in 1940 and survived a fire in the 1980s, so adjust your expectations accordingly and enjoy the atmosphere. My only complaint is the movie started 25 minutes late to accommodate all of the late arrivals. It's a long drive home and 25 minutes makes a difference on a work night. On the plus side, no previews. Main Street in Grapevine is a holiday destination! Be prepared to drive slow through Main as the theatre is at the end of the street. read more

This review is for the Lancaster room. We booked this venue for our wedding in May, and I have to say it was absolute perfect. It's a very untraditional wedding venue and I loved it. It's a beautiful black room with copper accents. The staff was very accommodating, the price was very reasonable, and you could bring in your own alcohol so long as you hired bartenders. Fits about 130 people with a dance floor. Tables and chairs included in the price. They don't Nickel and dime you like other venues. We had a fun family night out, at the Historic Palace Theater seeing the Princess Bride on the "Big Screen" for the first time. No one got mad or gave us dirty looks when we quoted our favorite parts right along with the movie. It seem very child friendly, and parents where being respectful of those that didn't have children. Seating is a little "old school" tight, which to me added to the charm. The building is an museum in it's self with lots of eye candy to enjoy as you go in and wonder about. The snack bar had the normal "old time" theater food, with surprisingly fair prices (wish others would catch on). Bring in a same-day receipt from any Grapevine restaurant and receive a free small popcorn. The tickets were also very reasonable, dare I say cheap. The staff was very nice, helpful, what more could you ask of a staff. My understanding is the staff are volunteer. We left with an all around good feeling about the night. read more

The Palace Arts Center encompasses both the actual Palace Arts theatre and the Lancaster theatre. I'd been to the Lancaster in the past as a guest and fell in love with the place. The floors, the brick walls, the copper? Super amazing. When my husband and I started planning our wedding, we assumed (1) the Lancaster would be fully booked for 2 years and we'd be screwed and (2) it would be so expensive it'd be right off our list. NOT TRUE! I can't say anything for how far they're booked out, but we were offered a couple of dates well within range. It was awesome. Now, at the time, they were changing over their booking system. The coordinators had to check 2 or 3 different systems to ensure a date was available. As such, we got our hopes up that our engagement date (the following year) was open! How cool would that be?! We get a deeply apologetic phone call later stating that date was not available, but they had a date a few weeks after open, 100% for sure. That's totally fine. We take the date. I'm super laid back, but still had to send a lot of emails to various vendors- the venue being no exception. Frank was quick to respond and never once rolled his eyes at how many emails I had to send. Our guests loved the venue and we had a great time. Have an event coming up? Wedding? Big birthday party? Cute place. I went here to see a movie. "Rear Window". I thought that'd be fun to see an older movie in a theater like this. It's certianly cheap - $5 a ticket. You get your ticket outside like they used to do back in the day. The theater is nice enough - the concessions stand doesn't sell much - NO ALCOHOL so please do keep that in mind beforehand and uh, "plan accordingly"... They sell popcorn and sodas and water and some candy. It's not a rip-off either. The theater isn't too big but it's nice. Seats are the old-school uncomfortable ones. You'll be squirming to adjust how you're sitting within half an hour. My main gripe was the sound. Picture quality was OK but the sound was terrible - it was really hard to hear what people were saying and it wasn't a question of loudness, but CLARITY. I don't know what needs to be done - but definitely don't go expecting movie-theater-quality sound. I was pretty shocked. I missed a lot of jokes and stuff because I couldn't hear. Left of the theater is a big function hall - someone was having a wedding rehersal dinner in there or something. I coulda walked right in and stolen their food - smelled awesome. But it's a nice little area. I thought I'd be psyched to go here but it was only all right because of the sound quality, or lack thereof. read more

ZERO STARS! As one of the programmers of a festival held In Grapevine I have to warn anyone interested in renting the venue. Sure it's an old run down theater that shows obscure and old movies. PLEAAE THINK TWICE about working with Megan and her "team" when inquiring about rentals here and at the Lancaster. We were told via the city council that Grapevine wanted to help grow this second year film festival that spans two days and brings in hundreds of filmmakers to the small town and the Main Street area. Last year, the venue was helpful and personable to grow the event, this year Megan and her aloof personality have ruined our event with hidden fees and totally outrageous pricing... you want lights to be turned on and off? $400 a day - why can't we turn the switch on? Simply because they want to make money off you. Need to adjust the volume? That's a tech only job for 8 hours - another $400. Want stale popcorn and cheap dollar store candy? $300 for the day? Want your name on the marquee? That's extra! What a shame and scam. DO NOT WORK with these people. They are bill collectors and everything you do will be a hidden charge. Megan is the worst kind of person, who normally wouldn't have a job anywhere else, that is until I approach the council again and let them know they're outdated theater ran off another profit center for the city. After lots of research we rented the Lancaster Theatre for my husbands birthday party. Nadine our coordinator was great to work with. During research I noticed that a lot of places give you the room for free but the food and alcohol are very high price. Here they charge you for the room but after that you can customize your party to fit your needs. We did the catering with their provided. The price was fair and the food was great. I had people calling me the next morning to see if I had any leftover cake it was so good. With a small fee you are able to provide beer, wine and liquor. This is huge if you are wanting a full bar because a lot of the places will not allow liquor. I would highly recommend this venue. read more

I came here for a Quentin Moore album release listening session. I've never been to the Palace Arts Center before. It's located on Main Street in downtown Grapevine. It's a pretty huge venue and is really beautiful on the inside. The area in which we were had great sitting and the band sounded amazing. The employees that were on shift that night were very kind and made sure that everyone enjoyed themselves. This is a great venue and a pretty good location. read more
