ORIGINAL REVIEW: Let it be known I only write bad reviews if a place deserves it, and trust me, this place does. Their custom service skills are nonexistent and their practice is unethical if they think they can say they're going to do something only to change their minds. For Mother's Day I bought my mother a groupon for a full set of mink eyelashes, I was stoked because she'd been feeling down and sprucing up her eyelashes would give her a little pep in her step. However in the months following she lost eyelashes, called The Palace to ask for advice and THEY TOLD HER to WAIT until they grew back so they'd have something to adhere to. No problem, she waits. She suffers from a myriad of health issues so the month of August was awful for her, she was too ill to come in and still only had nubs growing in. Right before the groupon expired I panicked and called the salon, leaving a message asking if they could fit her in the next day. No call back. So my mother calls the next day and tells them her situation, and whomever took the call SAID THEY WOULD HONOR IT. My mother even offered to pay extra for the trouble. She gets an appointment today, I'm excited for her and now she just calls me telling me she went in for her appointment, and they refused to accept the groupon. That "they hadn't used groupon in years." Then why the hell was it on the front of the spa page for Mother's Day? And even then, why would you say you'd honor it only to decide not to when my mother shows up? They had the gall to tell her it'll cost her $175 to get the service done, A SERVICE I ALREADY PAID FOR, because she had "no eyelashes." I understand we dropped the ball on the groupon, but to say you'll honor something only to not, and then blatantly lie saying you haven't used groupon in years when it's right there on their page, it's wrong. They should have just stated they wouldn't honor it rather then make the appointment and have my mother drive down there for nothing. All I can say is apparently don't use their groupons, and don't put your faith in their promises if they're going to pick and choose what they allow once they get a persons money in their pocket. The measures she is taking too keep everyone safe is incredible. Takes my temperature when I get there. Has hand sanitizer that you have to use before you come in. I had eyelash extensions put on yesterday somewhere else and the result was horrible and a waste of money and time. Today, I searched and googled many places to fix the mess on my eyes because I'm leaving soon to Maui on vacation. I found Christine who's a lifesaver. She took off the extensions and replaced them. My sister got her eyelashes done by Christine yesterday, and they looked great so I was excited that Christine could get me in today at 10 a.m. Now I am no stranger to lash extensions and I am very addicted to wearing them, but I always hated how my eyes watered and burned after application; no matter how "sensitive" the hypoallergenic glue was supposed to be -- this part of the experience put me off of having them for more than a few months at a time when I would have to take a break. I found this cute little place on Groupon. I was really interested in trying out eyelash extensions. They had an amazing deal on Groupon so I decided to go for it! I called & got an appointment the same day. (If you don't want to buy the Groupon just yet, you have the option of paying it at the salon.) I showed up 30 mins early to my appointment & Christine took me as soon as she was able to. So like 20 mins into waiting. I was excited! I didn't know what to expect but Christine made me feel comfortable & from seeing other peoples reviews & pictures, I knew that I was in good hands. She was very gentle during the whole entire process but also very quick! The whole shibang took like a good hour. I love love love the results! I wouldn't change a thing & I am definitely coming back for refill & more. I felt fabulous once I saw how long, full, and thick my eyelashes are. Thank you eyelash extensions, but also... BAD BUSINESS - BAD OWNER - DOES NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER OR QUALITY!! Stopped in El Dorado Hills for the day - 3 hours from SF, my home. Found this place on Groupon and called for an appointment. They persuaded me not to purchase the Groupon and they would give me a better price (should have known not to trust them then). First, we had the most basic pedicure done. They finished in less then 10min. There was no pampering whatsoever, barely shaved any part of foot, the water was COLD, no message done and I had to ask 3 times for her to clean under my toes. The worst part is that both of my big toes were completely different sizes. The one that was longer I had already asked her to cut down twice, but in the end it was still so much longer then the left foot. It looked ridicules! Then I proceeded to get a new "FULL/VOLUME," set of lashes. I've come to find out it should take over an hour -- it took her less then 20 min. The lashes WERE NOT FULL AND HAD NO VOLUME!!! The left side was droopy and not curled up. Immediately the lashes were turned upside down and poking me in the eye. I was NOT SATISFIED at all and told Christine that the lashes were turned upside down poking me in the eyes, she took a second and turned them back up top with tweezers. I mentioned several times they are not full and she argued several times they were. So what can I do then.. I figured I would call the owner because she was REFUSING to give me what I wanted. I've had my lashes done hundreds of times and I've never had so few lashes or one side high and one side low. Bottom line is there was another appointment waiting and she DID NOT do the job the way it should have been done. What a HUGE disappointment because I had not gotten my lashes done or a pedicure done for over 1 year because I had a rough pregnancy and just had my baby. This was a big treat for me. I contacted them the day after, several days after, and I called over 10 times and left messages within 2 weeks. Finally, I told the Christine that if Brendon (the owner) didn't return my call I would contact Groupon, the BBB and write this review. He contacted me today and was EXTREMELY insulting, rude, nasty, aggressive and shady! He, in fact said I spent too much money and was regretting it, so I wanted a refund. I really wanted to like this place. I have been in twice, both times for a pedicure and gel manicure. The first time, I had an older lady (not sure of her name) who did a great job on my pedicure. Christine finished off the pedicure with French tips which latest close to a month. Christine also did my gel manicure, again with French tips. They looked great for a few days but started chipping after a couple of days. I was disappointed since I was leaving town and wanted my nails to look good. My second experience was yesterday. I made an appointment and was taken in right when I got there. My pedicure was done by a middle aged gal ( I think her name might have been Kim). The scrub and massage were great but the Polish job seemed a bit sloppy. At the same time as my pedicure, my nails were started. I wish they had asked me if I wanted them done at the same time, as it becomes a little awkward and hard to relax when one of your hands is constantly crossing your body. The gal that did my nails was an older lady, not the same one that did my pedicure the first time (I think her name was Kelly but I could have the "K" names switched). I'm not sure if she was new but she did a horrible job on my cuticles and didn't understand anything I was telling her about the length of my nails or the fact that she missed putting the bond on one of my nails. Milly came over to try to explain what I was trying to say but finally Milly just finished cleaning up my nails. The gel polish was completed by Kelly and looked really good....until today. Four of my nails are already chipping. The pic I've posted is of my thumb which is one of the worst. It's hard to tell in the pic, but it's chipping on the tip and the sides. Ive never had this happen before and I get gel manicures regularly. It's frustrating when you pay for a something that doesn't last more than a day. I will be going in tomorrow to see if they will redo it at no additional charge. Other than that, it's highly unlikely I will return...unless it's for a pedicure only. read more

Long story short I didn't get what I wanted at all and I had to ask the lady who did my toes to repaint the streaks out of them. In the end, I was charged $192. (they also honor the groupon price in person) when I arrived to my appointment she was super promt and friendly. I've been looking for a solid eyelash salon for about a year, but every place I have tried either charges too much, is too far away, has terrible quality lashes, or the staff is insanely rude -- but not Palace! I went here yesterday because my regular place is closed on Sunday and I had a hankering for a mani (plus my neon yellow nails were crazy long! The woman there was friendly and welcoming. This place somehow snuck in two years ago right Bert to the purple place (bar and grill). Surprisingly it was relatively quiet inside the salon. I brought my own periwinkle color which she was happy to use for me. The chair was super cushioned and comfortable. I was the only customer there at the time. A man's got to take care of himself too every now and then, and the customer care and service here is outstanding. I only simply got a pedicure as I'm sure most other men do that are my age. This was my first time ever trying anything like this and my perception toward men getting a pedicure has changed dramatically as a result.
