The owner of this restaurant should be embarassed by the staff and the awful customer sevice they provide. The waitresses (only 2) are so rude. The wont tell you the specials when you ask, they wont tell you the price when you ask. They make snide comments about your wealth and that you should be spending in on food. My assumption they want a bigger tip. When I called them out on hiding the specials they laughed and told me to order from the menu. My husband and I were so annoyed and we got up and left after waiting for 15 mins. I had to give this place 1 start just to write the review. Never go to this place!!! 3/30/2020 so after telling the waitress several times because I just didnt want to give up. Yes, The food is that good. They finally got it right. Now our food comes together. Our drinks are on point and the waitress checks up on us. The chicken here is slammin good. I want to give them a shout out for staying open thru the Corona. My husband picked up food to go and they were cautious, clean, and fast. They have really hard workers her and I appreciate them so much. I highly recommend this place. My family loved this chicken and when it closed for a while we were hoping it would reopen. It finally has and it is better than ever! The chicken was so moist and the fries were crispy. We also had anticuchos and the leche de Tigre which had a good amount of fish. Probably coming back tomorrow to try some of my other favorites. We found this place based on the reviews. PROS: - we were instantly greeted and seated - our orders were taken immediately - our hostess was friendly and polite - our food was fresh! From the avocado salad to the seafood fried rice we ordered CONS: - the only con would be the parking. The area is extremely narrow and tight. I really want to give them 3.5 stars, but service was very slow and the margarita was watery. Unassuming place that is on the corner with hardly any parking. But the chicken is really tasty. We ordered the family meal and it came with roasted chicken, sauces, rice and beans and bread. The chicken, the chicken! The crust was seared and crunchy and the meat was juicy and good. I loved it. The green sauce was a little spicy and I made sure my granddaughter did not try it. Very good chicken. We ordered traditional margaritas but they only had mango. So we gave them a whirl. They were watery and were not that good. No tequila taste at all. The service was so slow. Our waitress was nice and several times when I went to the restroom she was eating at the bar and talking to an older lady. Family owned restaurants can be like that sometimes. I've been into Peruvian cuisine recently.. and looking for the best Peruvian Rotisserie chicken out there and I believe it's here and only available Thursday through Sunday. There I said it. I wasn't sure I wanted to share this newfound secret because the place is already busy with people lined up getting the chicken for takeout AND people ordering the chicken at EVERY table but it's THAT good. If you are in Jersey, it's a must try. From the outside, the restaurant looks small but when you enter, it's actually much larger than I imagined that it would be. We ordered Lomo Saltado, 1/2 Rotisserie chicken with salad and fries and also the Parihuela. The Lomo Saltado was perfectly seasoned with perfectly crispy fries and warm hot rice. The Parihuela soup was filled with mussels, shrimp, calamari and one large crab claw but I think they missed adding the fish. Nonetheless, we didn't notice we were missing the fish since the soup was hearty without it and we didn't realize there was supposed to be fish until the end. We will need a retry if this next time. Now to the star of the meal, the chicken. OMG! The skin was nice and crisp, yes crisp but when you dig into the chicken it was tender, juicy and flavorful. The green hot sauce was very good with a little heat that kicks in a seconds later. They brought another red sauce for me to try which they said was very hot which I mixed with my green hot sauce. The mix was perfect for me but I'm sure it won't be for the faint of heart. The pros: THE CHICKEN, very flavorful, great service, loved the Peruvian beer too! The cons: THE PARKING.. go early so you can park on their small lot although there's street parking, parking is very hard to find Go early for immediate seating, they got busy with full tables and lots of take out orders. I have been going to Palacio for about 1-2 times weekly two+ years now. What started as an occasional after-work quick stop has turned into a long-term comfort regular. After these two recent experiences, my appreciation for them grew bigger... Recently for my birthday, I was deciding between two restaurants to have 13, non-Hispanic family members for a celebratory dinner. For three weeks I was asked from Grandma (whose less-than-adventurous palette hails from N. Carolina), "Where will we be eating? I know you eat that weird stuff. Will there be something for me to eat?" (of course, by "weird" we mean: sushi, or anything from a restaurant with a menu in a second language.) Grandma is only ONE of our finicky eaters. From 16months to 76+ years old, ALL THIRTEEN guests were clearing their plates of ALL FOUR dishes selected for the table: * Ensalada de (avocado salad) * Arroz Con Mariscos (seafood rice) * Pollo con Fritas (rotisserie chick + fries) * Tres Leche (cake with three milks) Total cost (for 16ppl): less than $200. A week ago I invited a date to try Palacio. Unlike my Grandma, having traveled internationally quite a bit, my date's palette is used many "weird" tastes. One thing to note, however, is that he is also a very good cook, can be highly critical of lack-luster food, and has a true obsession with jabonero peppers (aka he likes EVERYTHING spicy-- really spicy). For the main dish I ordered a Mixed Seafood Stew, which he thoroughly enjoyed (without "doctoring up") and was even impressed with their spicy Peruvian green sauce! We also had avocado salad, tres leche, and sangria :) MY TIPS: Try this place and the above mentioned dishes-- they are cost efficient, always fresh, and have NEVER failed me. It seems like is more of a takeout spot.. lots of customers going in and out.... Anyway I've been to several Peruvian restaurants and this one is kind of pricey ... It was $15 + a plate to be in west orange it is kind of pricey ... As soon as we got seated , the waitress was nice and came along w Peruvian corn which unlike other Peruvian restaurants was nice and warm and water... I like that!!! A lot of places u have to wait until you place your entrees to get water let along bread... Hubby ordered half a chicken and it comes along w fries and salad along with that delicious spicy green sauce... I ordered arroz chaufa con mariscos = seafood fried rice and it was delicious now I see why their prices are a little high for the area... Not only does it feed at least 4 people w one order but it was delicious... No complaints.. My husband's food was very tasty as well... ( I just had a piece)... I'm from Brooklyn but i was in the area with my parents and we wanted to eat so i grabbed Yelp and it recommended Palacio. I said we were in a rush and they said if i ordered Chicken there would be no wait time as it was ready. I went to the bathroom and 2 minutes later when i came out the food was already on the table. The food was simple, definitely nothing fancy, but the Chicken, Fries and Salad were all good - i was especially surprised to get fresh salad at what was essentially cheaper than fast food price. I ordered a $10 meal for one person but it was enough food for 3 people easily ( there were 3 of us ). But this isn't why i'm giving Palacio 5 stars. If the story ended at that point i wouldn't bother writing a review. Later that day when we were back in Brooklyn mom received Text from father's phone from Palacio saying he forgot his phone ... I went to NJ the next morning with my pops and we got his phone back ... that is the real reason i'm giving the place 5 stars. It was an expensive phone ( previous year's LG V20 $850 flagship still worth about 300 or 400 bucks ) and i was surprised they didn't just keep it. Pops was super happy to get it back considering all the contacts he had on there and the fact that he had voicemails from his boss and clients already by the time we got it the next morning. So you get here and you have hunk we went to the wrong place, well guess what, you're at the right place. The setting is traditional, straight to the point Peruvian style. Locally set, takes you straight to Peru. It's not high end, but the food is so well done. We loved it actually. No pressure is suiting up to eat here, like said earlier, traditionally and locally set. Loosen up, embrace this setting and enjoy your payeya and soups and the meat here is plentiful as well. Go here is you're really hungry, seriously! Else you will leave with a lot of food. And know what you're ordering, they do speak some English, so feel free to ask questions. Ask about the portion sizes, have them show you their plate and actually they can call you to the bar area when serving. We were so full when we left here, and we'll make a quick stop anytime.... First experience here was NOT good. First, they did not have the famous rotisserie chicken. Not totally unexpected since it's "famous" and only served 4 days a week. Next, they were out of the papa rellena - again, not a shocker because it's only served on the weekends. Ordered the lomo saltado (perhaps this is authentic, but it's served with a lot of onions and fries - less meat and this dish was salty; some cuts were a bit chewy); arroz chaufa de camarones (this was overall decent but also a tad salty); sweet plantains (good size and decent); and a half pitcher of the red sangria (very tasty, good size & not a lot of ice). The dishes in general were quite large. Small parking lot and mostly street parking. This place would've received a 3.5; however, given the wrong pricing on their menu for the sangria, giving them 3 stars. The menu states $8 for half a pitcher and $15 for a pitcher. When this was brought to their attention, they said the menu is wrong. Well "duh" because if it weren't why does the bill say $13? However, from $8 to $13 is quite a large difference, and when the mistake is their own AND they do nothing to rectify this... read more

Not worth it at all. Food is edible but nothing is great or amazing in terms of flavor or presentation. It's sunday afternoon and the restaurant is packed and they only have 2 waitresses on the floor, so your waitress will come take your order and disappear until you scream hoping they'll hear you to bring the check over. The pollo a la brasa is edible but lacks flavor and texture, the fries are clearly frozen, and the salad has no signature dressing. Had the 1/2 chicken. Maybe a little salty, but so delicious. Mountain of perfectly cooked, French Fries (the fries alone are worth trying). And a Nice salad. The green sauce, is great, it's got some spice to it, but not overwhelming. Also Lomo Saltado is excellent. Also maduros which were perfect. It was very busy, but our waitress never ignored us and was attentive. They also serve dessert, we were to full after dinner but they looked great, and I might go back just for that. August 18 BACK Food is so good, I'm tempted to delete this review to keep people away. But that would be selfish to the owners of this little piece of heaven. To be clear this is a very casual place, don't expect fine dining. Do expect some outrageously delicious, authentic Peruvian food (brought someone who knows this time). Had the Parillada to share with my son, so crazy good, big piece of skirt steak (the thick one that's the best), beef ribs (I believe short rib) lean and perfect. You know how a well done piece of meat should still be juicy, but is usually shoe leather, not here! I often get rare, but got medium because of the sharing, succulent and delicious. So we blew off our VDay steakhouse reservations to come here. For a couple of reasons, we were in the area and we just weren't in the mood for steak. Easy enough to find, has a small parking lot and street parking. We were seated quickly, our waitress was so concerned that she didn't speak English and wanted someone else to help us, but the language of food is universal. The restaurant itself is a nicer sit down Spanish place with a bar and a take out area as you walk in. A good sized menu with typical Peruvian fare - we were like kids in a candy store and started ordering, our waitress stopped us and said thats too much food, ok let's not get the whole fried fish, but we wanted to! We had the Patasca soup, a thick soup with all things I like - tripe, cow foot and some fatty beef ribs along with barley and pozole, it's a bland soup, and perfect at that. The mixed ceviche was flavorful with a spicy kick, the red onion that topped the dish rounded the dish out well. We also had the Seafood Stew - it was a sautéed fish filet topped in a seafood stew with all kinds of shrimp and shellfish in a nice red sauce. I really like El Palacio a lot. As previously noted, this is run by the people who ran Miriam's which used to be across the street. I went there for some years, occasionally having a delicious lunch in the company of many Spanish speaking locals and sometimes having the rotisserie chicken with my family in the evening. Miriam's closed a few years ago after a fire and El Palacio opened up about a year ago--whenever I've been there, Miriam herself is presiding. Warning: the rotisserie chicken is only available Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Do NOT show up any other day hoping for chicken because you will only hope. The grilled meats are wonderful as is the namesake chicken, white beans, stuffed potatoes, tamales, all delicious. If you bring some Spanish, it can only be helpful--you can order by pointing at pictures if you have difficulty. The service is very friendly, if a little harried when busy. Take the kids on a weekend night and get some chicken and whatever else intrigues you--you'll have fun. The ensalada de palta (avocado salad) is wonderful! read more

bad experience: The cups, the plates and the utensils were dirty and when i asked for a clean one the waitress gave this look to the other waiter as if i was being high maintenance. There was cockroaches on the walls and we (me and my family) could not eat in peace. We ordered this barbecue plate with chicken, ribs, beef and nothing had great flavor except the ribs and the anticuchos were alright.
