Initially I was not impressed with this place. The tables are covered with linens but then covered again with clear plastic. This plastic cover lays on my lap and goes to my knees. I don't like the feel of the plastic sticking to my bare legs. The service is slow. The drinks are not on the menu. Our waiter asked if we wanted water or soda. We forgot this place has a bar. The menu is pricey. Yelp needs to reflect that. After waiting a while, about 25 min, our food was finally served. Now I'm impressed. Each of our plates was enough for 2. And the food is real good. I have driven past this restaurant for years without stopping. I have now been there twice in the past month. The place is not much to look at from the outside or the inside. However, you go there for the food, not the ambiance. The rotisserie chicken is excellent, moist, tender and well seasoned. It's only available Thursday through Sunday. The grilled short ribs are wonderful. I am a big short ribs fan and these are among the best I have had. A word of warning, the portions are huge, If you order an appetizer, then one entree will easily feed two. read more

Let's talk about the ginormous portion sizes. My husband ordered the Bistec and it came with 3 pieces of steak a load of potatoes and rice, let's not forget about the plantains. My boyfriend and I worked up an appetite while moving into the area. I yelped around and found this place so we walked over and got the whole Pollo a la Brasa with a Papa Rellena (stuffed potato). Went here for the first time today when I came across the positive reviews to try the pollo a la brasa. This is by far the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had. It's loaded with flavor and very juicy....most definitely beats the store bought rotisserie chickens. The chickens are so clean that every little bit of meat comes off, literally no waste. The pollo a la brasa comes with a whole chicken, fries and a side salad. Plenty of food for two meals even. Highly recommend this place! Some things to note: 1) They are off a side street in West Orange. There is mainly street parking and a small lot attached to the restaurant. 2) I didn't hear a single person speak English, so it's definitely helpful to know Spanish. Thankfully, I speak it. I'm sure if you don't and point to the menu they'll know what you want. 3) Pollo a la brasa is only available on the weekends. 4) If paying with a credit card, you will be charged sales tax; paying cash gets charged menu price. Went there on a Friday afternoon and there was only one waitress working. There was a lot of take out orders and 3 tables to attend by herself. I asked for 3 halves chickens and she didn't even know what 3 halves were. She gave me the wrong order the first time. After I corrected her, she still gave me the wrong order after waiting for 20 minutes while the other customers behind me got their orders first. Service was so helpful even though they didnt speak or fully understand english. Their seafood soup was enjoyable for 3 people. Also their shrimp fried rice was out of this world!! Absolutely delicious Pollo a la brassa. We ate an entire chicken each (with enough left over for lunch the next day). Wish it were available all week long so we could order it more often. Next time we will skip the fries as they were soggy and bland, but the fried plantains and tres leches cake were totally worth it. I will also be trying the other dishes eventually since the whole menu looks good. Doubt I will ever dine in though since there are signs everywhere saying "you are on camera", etc. which leads me to believe it's not the safest place to hang out. I came here for lunch because I wanted to try something new in the surrounding area. I'm really happy I tried this place. Service is a little spotty (inattentive at times) but still very friendly! Being friendly always goes a long way. There are two things on their lunch specials menu ($5 ...$7 with Soda/Water and Chicken Soup) : Beef with red sauce, mashed potatoes and rice and Arroz Chaufa con Pollo. I decided to get the Arroz Chaufa which was really really good. Though I was told it would be smaller portions, it definitely was generous! I had enough to take home for another meal or two. The food here is always consistently inconsistent. Sometimes it's a hit, others a miss. One thing that has captured my attention is how badly trained and unprofessional the waitresses and or servers are. I used to go here since I was little with my entire family. But just yesterday my brother ordered a ceviche to go and he got home took a couple bites only to find A DEAD COCKROACH floating around in his food!!! My brother was so disgusted he started throwing up and was sick until the next day. He said he never wants to eat from here again. They do have good food BUT that is just SO unsanitary and wrong. This place is good to bring your family for a nice dinner overall the food is good but ever since I've been here as a child the service has gone down by a lot you mostly only ever see some people working and others standing around doing nothing and when you ask them for something they ignore you. Also the hot sauce that they give you, you might wanna check it because I got food poisoning from it and will not be going back because of that so yes if you want some tasty food go here but the hot sauce is in no way Peruvian anymore. I'm a contractor and often Yelp areas do have lunch with my co worker's where we unfortunately stumbled on to this spot. Totally had bad service i waited for a plate of here chaufa rice for 40 min while my 2 friends dines on there ceviche within ten minutes of being there. After the half an hour of waiting at lunch I complained and asked for a plate from there hot food stations which they did not want to give me, finally the food came out and it was salty and not worth the 17 dollars I payed for the dish. I did not eat the whole meal and was asked what happened? I explained the experience to the waitress in Spanish and was basically told that I should have complained about the dish when it was served 45 min into service. Pollo a la brasa is a must order if you come here. It's one of the best I've had and it's perfectly tender and flavorful. They give large portions of fries too, which is a plus. Seems great for families since most of the customers in the place were with family and young children. Only complaint is that the service is a little on the slow side. Been passing this on way to Don Juan and finally stopped to try this place and winner winner chicken dinner literally! Disappointed as the tripe stew was not available but had the fried chuletas, rotisserie chicken and the special fried rice and everything was delicious. Chicken and pork chop were not dry and cooked just right as we gate overcooked meats. Never knew Peruvians made fried rice but had their special one and so good. Received the tab, $18.00 for one glass of bottled red wine, it cost more than the pollo at $17.00. Local community folks who know their Peruvian foods enjoy this place as much as I do. First, the food is good ranging from the basic rotisserie chicken and salad to the elaborate and authentic Peruvian dishes that I will not dishonor by trying to describe them. It's just very good and with good prices. To really enjoy the food you should sit down take in the atmosphere, down mind the occasional, what are you doing here type of glance, its part of trying new experiences in food. My rating is based on the dish I ordered and the service. I had the three sauce spaghetti (green, red and yellow) with grilled chicken. The green (pesto) sauce was not tasty. The red (tuco) sauce was simply carrots and nothing else, and the yellow (huancaina) was thick, creamy and had no taste. The grilled chicken was good. The dish took over 45 minutes to arrive. For dessert, the flan was decent, not great. I am sure the rotisserie chicken is good but did not order. The service was very slow for a restaurant with several servers that was not packed. I had to get up to ask for my dish, dessert, and the check. Won't be going back to this place with all the other good Peruvian restaurants around. read more

We drove about 1 hour just to eat the delicious Peruvian roasted chicken and when I got home I realized they gave me a reheat chicken that was roasted the day before. The chicken was dry, burned and disgusting that no one in my family was able to eat it. This is the second time this happens, the service provided is terrible, you have to keep pay attention of how much they are charging because the always want to charge extra, and they complaint when you ask them to give you more French fries.
