Came in for taco Tuesday $1 Dollar street taco, horchata mulitas Took my first bite and immediately I got hard meat seemed over cooked. I kinda was bummed out because, I do follow them on IG and they convinced me to make a trip. You do get what you paid for although, I am still going to give them another shot and try something else on the menu. They do have chilies, onions & beans available self serve. Also their salsa bar was clean and neat for being as packed as it was. The Customer service was good the young lady worked a rush and still had a great attitude after she over charged us. read more

I used to actually like this place. Not sure if the cook has changed. This was one of the worst burritos. The meat was really bad with no flavor and very tough to chew. Didn't like their green sauce either. read more

Had this last night, it wasn't good. The broth was too watery. Hardly any meat on the soup. The birria itself hardly had any flavor. I was very disappointed, had high hopes for this, since on the picture it looks so good lol. But I would say, the patio was a very nice set up. read more

My first time here. The food is really good but I'm rating 3 stars because of the service. I went on Sunday afternoon and I did not like how the cashier and server provided service. I told them they forgot something in my order after getting my food to dine in and they had an attitude after they forgot something in my order. Eventually I did get my item but it was after all the people that came after me got their food. read more

Food was AMAZING !! I really wanted to leave 5 stars but daammnnnn!!! The girls are RUDE! Have a bad attitude! I asked for a salsa and the girl looked me up and down and said what? then she told the other girl something. YARELL and the other girl was a cook or a prep...we ordered 2 ramen Togo and asked for the juice on the side. Yarell said what do you mean? I said consome on the side ... she again had an attitude and said what do you mean? Kept asking what I meant.... after I told her twiceLike I don't get how hard that was to understand lol....Also other people were ordering and she had a nasty attitude with them saying well what do you want. I worked in the industry for over 10 years and service is #1 . Besides the RUDE EMPLOYEES the food was delicious read more

I've been going there for some time now. When you arrive it's a odd looking place inside. But don't let that fool you. The people tend to just fool around which I get (they are friendly) but not in front of customers. When I ordered my food it did take a while, but I was watching the cook from the dining area. Not sure if he thought I was secret shopper or not. But it did take a few minutes which I don't mind cause that's when I know it's fresh. The inside looks simple. The menu is a bit boring. The one negative thing I would say is that the music inside is always too loud. A couple could barely have a conversation. But there is outside sitting and that helps a lot. Overall though the meat quality is pretty good. I enjoyed my burrito and taco that I've ordered a few times. read more

First time trying this place out, this is what I ordered: 1 quesabirria taco 1 carne asada taco 3 al pastor taco 1 carne asada torta Quesabirria taco was very good, would return and order this again. Al pastor meat had a smokey good taste, wondering if it's marinated with chipotle peppers. Would also order anything with al pastor such as in a torta or burrito. Carne asada meat was not good, not sure if it was an off night at or something. Meat was cold and had a weird texture. I may order again and hope tonight was an off night, but if it's the same taste I wouldn't recommend it. I do like that they give a good portion of radish and huge pieces of lime on each plate I was given. I got 2 red and 1 green salsa which they were hesitate to give me an extra red salsa. Red is definitely the better flavor for spice. Green had a more vinegar/tart taste. Overlay I thought food was good and would return and recommended this place to others. read more

Amazing spot. The negative reviews are overwhelmingly stupid. One dense egg complained that the street tacos were small. They're STREET TACOS. First of, best guac I've ever had. So fresh and the perfect texture, I wish I could have just purchased a bucket to take home to eat with my stale tortilla chips. Ordered Carne Asada fries and a fish burrito. Fries were generously loaded with meat and the fries were cooked perfectly. I forgot to ask for no beans but for once, I could eat the beans since the whole dish was darn good. The fish burrito was generously packed with fried pieces of fish. My friend said it was good but ended up eating half of his so he could eat my fries. Solid Mexican food. It started getting really crowded after 8:30PM -this was the only place in that small plaza that seemed to be getting traffic. Tons of parking. Sauces, limes, pico de gallo are left in the carts so we definitely helped ourselves. read more

Located in a great spot near downtown Fullerton, it's small inside but it wasn't uncomfortable at all, outside seating is an option I'm sure when it's busier. Food came out fast, young lady taking our order was very pleasant and gave us great suggestions since it was our first time. My daughter ordered the ramen birria. She loved it, I ordered chicken nachos (basic) but very good. I'm definitely going to go again. I have to try the birria tacos with consome. Food came out fast ands everyone was pleased with their choices. My niece ordered the carne asada quesadilla I didn't try y it it looked very good. read more

I mean it's good...but they're not the best I've had. The California burrito was really good, but salty like a gamer after they lose to a sixth grader. Don't get me wrong they have a large variety of menu items, and good service. They also have a fun challenge (10 tacos in 10 minutes I believe) Nice interior, clean, and lots of seating. Did not try the birria ramen that I saw people rave about on social media, but would try next time. read more

New taco spot in Downtown Fullerton? I'm down. I saw on Facebook that they were open late on Friday nights, so I decided to take a visit after my shift right down the street. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much to begin with, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyways. It was moderately packed around 10:45pm so that was a good sign. I looked up at the menu and saw that the tacos were $2.50 each. Okay, a bit expensive, but i'm here anyways, so let's order a couple. I think I got six tacos? I went with their asada, carnitas, pastor, and their lengua. I heard they were out of horchata, so I just went with their cucmber lime agua fresca as well. They have a salsa bar, along with a pepper bar. I heard their orange salsa was good, so I took some of those, along with every other salsa. My tacos took forever to come out, but I didn't mind waiting too much. I was busy freeloading on their sides. You know, these tacos were pretty big. Well worth the price? Not at all. The amount of meat they put was alright, but it was filled with guacamole. It was about 80% guac and 20% everything else. The salas were on the bland side, and the radish that they provided tasted a bit funky as well. I want to support local businesses and give them high ratings, but this place is not good. The only thing that was good was their service. With that being said, that's +1 for stars solely based on their service. You're better off going to the Taqueria off of Highland and Valencia. read more

10/31/2019 Today is Thursday, which means that today's the "buy one burrito and get the 2nd burrito for $2" special offer. I tried to order two Goberndor Burritos, but the cashier said that it's a new burrito, so the special offer doesn't apply. I asked her where I can find the new rules, only to have been informed by her that it's not written anywhere, and that the rules are always verbally stated (aside from the taco eating competition they post on the wall.) Growing more curious about their system, I requested to speak to the manager for confirmation, to which she replied that she was the manager. Hearing this, I politely asked her for her name, and when she asked me why I want to know her name, I answered that I'm gonna write a review. Although she continued to avoid giving me her name, she said to go ahead and write the review, so I asked for her name again, and this lady, who at this point was obviously trying to avoid my question, told me to ask the manager, with HIS name being so-and-so. When I pointed out that she told me that SHE was the manager, she hastily added that when he's not here, she's the one that takes care of the place (which as everyone knows, DOESN'T make you the manager.) (The lady in question had very dark hair, and I believe her name was Jessica, given by the conversations I overheard.) TL;DR: An employee lied about her position and (most likely) about the restaurant's special offer. read more

Just mediocre. I like that they out guacamole in everything bc it's my favorite, but I think that should just be an add on and lower the prices of the tacos. I think one of the most important things at a taco place is their hot sauce and their hot sauce wasnt great. Their red and green sauce were both way too salty. Theres another green one that is more flavorful but it's too spicy. Their al pastor was too dry, but when you pick up the taco theres dripping grease if that makes any sense. The carne asada fries were pretty delicious though and their carne asada was pretty tender. I would order this again. One thing that was annoying is they charge you a dollar fee to use your credit card without telling you. I only figured it out after getting the receipt and it was not worth the argument. Is it even legal to do that? Will most likely not come back. Too many other delicious taco places around. My favorite is Taco Maggie. Check it out!! read more

We found this place on ig. The images were DECEIVING. What you saw on ig is not what you get. False advertising. The beans and rice were DISGUSTING. COLD as heck. Not worth complaining or asking for new plate. As long as I've been wanting try this place it was NOT WORTH IT. The price & quality of food do not go hand n hand. And $1 surcharge to use debit card is steep. I understand the 3 stars. read more

I know this place just opened. And maybe this is mean. But it's the way I see it, they took forever to get our food out. They had a salsa bar with only one choice, which it was too thick and spicy. My gosh if your paying $3.50 for a taco.Then make it look good, sad to say that El Gobernador was not a good choice. Looked nasty and tasted bad. Should be called "quesadilla" I mean for that price at least sell real shrimp and don't chop it up . Tacos Al pastor meat was cooked good but maybe to sweet. Sad to Sat but I was hoping this taco place would be my husband's and I. Taco Tuesday date place!! Not coming back. Sorry guys good luck! read more

it used to just be "ok order your food and pay for it, ok your food is ready come pick it up." and then you can just sit down and eat. But then they changed it so now that if you wanna sit down and eat, its like a restaurant now where you're brought menus now and have to wait for a waiter. Like WHY was this needed it was perfectly fine the way it was before this. Especially for a taqueria, why does a place that only sells specifically tacos need to suddenly have a restaurant experience? Why fix something that wasn't even broken in the first place read more

My colleagues and I love to come here for Taco Tuesday. It's just down the street, the prices are great, and the food hits the spot! I personally think it's one of the better taco Tuesdays in the Downtown Fullerton area. Chicken Tacos: A+ This is my go to order as the chicken is seasoned perfectly and isn't too heavy. I like to order the avocado on the side so the tortilla doesn't get too soggy. Al Pastor Taco: A This is definitely my second favorite. Good flavor and always a good bet. Shrimp taco: B- I didn't realize that the shrimp wasn't grilled by actually fried/battered. It also comes on a flour tortilla. It's larger than the others and definitely not as tasty as the traditional tacos. My colleagues really enjoy the carne asada and the combo plates with rice and beans, but I haven't tried them myself! On the side near the register, you can grab jalapeños, onions, and beans to add to your meal. There's also a really decent salsa bar! This place is a no frills kind of deal, but the food is good and that's what matters most to me! We will be back next Tuesday! read more

Palapas tacos do not taste bad, but that is the extent of their offerings. Any other authentic tacos offers equally delicious, if not better tacos at a MUCH cheaper price. Selling a taco for $2.50 almost seems like a scam! Would not come back here because there are much better taco restaurants. read more

Definitely NOT the best, lol! I went yesterday with my boyfriend cause we're constantly seeing the ad pop up and it wasn't as great as you say. Older lady that works there is rude, tortillas were definitely not fresh, took forever to get our order even though there was nobody waiting when we got there and the salsa you get with the chips (for extra $ btw) was tasteless and bland lol we had to fix it ourselves by adding lime juice & lots of salt lol. Sorry just saying .... false advertisement! Oh but let me say that the fish taco was actually pretty good... better than expected. I'm not a fish person so I was glad that there wasn't a strong "fishy" taste to it & it was a good size. Just chill on the cabbage you went a little over board. Not sure if I'd try it again ... kinda wish I would've gotten my money back... again just saying! read more

I got a quesabirria taco and a pastor taco. I think the tortillas used were very good. The Birria was just okay, not a ton of flavor. I preferred the al pastor actually and it also came with some guac on the top. My wife got a shrimp burrito and seemed to like it. read more

A must try for a Taco Tuesday. One of the best taco joints I've tried from a recommendation from a friend. Absolutely loved both the corn and flour tortillas. Their meat soft and moist not overly cooked. They had a wide variety of meat to choose from for Taco Tuesday. I did go off the Taco Tuesday choices and ordered the shrimp lengua and chicharron we amazeballs! Loved the salsa bar, grilled jalapenos and beans. Thanks for a GREAT Taco Tuesday Palapas Tacos. I am currently sick to my stomach after eating at this place for the first time Last night. We waited a whopping 35 min to receive our food only to be disappointed with every single thing we ordered. fish taco- extremely disappointed, who uses a flour tortilla on a fish taco?condiments such as the sauce on the fish taco and the slaw was barely sprinkled on. Asada sope- the sope itself was so dough-ey and flavorless, the asada was salty. Just all bad Al pastor taco- just ordinary, again cilantro and onion barely any sprinkled on top, stiff ass tortilla. Asada nachos- not good, fake cheese that didn't even melt and the asada was overly salty. Birria quesatacos- not crispy at all, soggy all the way.. flavor of the birria was not bad but definitely have had better. Secret menu item: bacon wrapped carnitas chile relleno burrito- this was the only decent thing I had. I tried 3 salsas, medium, hot and extra hot. They all had an odd flavor, did not like any. I will admit I found this place through Instagram. As a foodie, I'm always willing to try new things. The food looked so bomb on their IG page, but this place was possibly by far the worst Mexican food experience I have had. Flavor wise or lack thereof. Wait time, 35 min. Being sick with diarrhea and stomach pains from eating here. Total disappointment! To think I chose this spot as my cheat day meal and fasted all day to eat here SMH! read more

The spot is kinda hidden but it's definitely worth the try. I went probably 2 weeks ago. I ordered the two taco de birria which were very good, well done and overall went great with the side juice. The shrimp taco was good but I have had better but good. The water was refreshing and sweet. Overall worth the hype and price that you pay. read more

I've followed Palapas Tacos on IG and have had them bookmarked on here for ages and I finally had the chance to come! First impressions were "eh" since the lady taking out order seemed impatient and kept tapping her fingernails on the register despite us not taking long ordering and there being no line behind us. The food made up for it though! Just as good as I expected! My group of four were all very satisfied with our food (tacos, quesadillas, burrito). The Birria Quesadilla was super good, and you could tell they don't hold back on their cheese and meat. The agua de jamaica was also great! Will def be coming back and trying more items! read more

What impressed me this time was how well they handled a busy Friday evening with just three young staff members running the floor. They stayed calm, friendly, and on top of things. Christian especially stood out with his warm and affable personality, and the other two girls were also very helpful throughout.
