Had lunch here before exploring the wildlife art museum. The food gets a 5; the service gets a 3; the ambience gets a 5 if you can get a table outside. There was a large school group there so I suspect the service may have better if they weren't slammed. No tables inside but still a beautiful view from inside but extremely loud until the school group left. What impressed me most was the interesting menu. I got a bison Gyro--using Babaghanoush instead of tziki--tons of delicious thinly cut bison with tasty pickled onions. Stepmom got a greek appetizer platter with amazing cauliflower--?flash fried with tasty spices. If I lived here I would come back to try other things on the menu. read more

By far the best place we ate at during our 3 days in Jackson. Firstly, the views are incredible and there is such a relaxing atmosphere on the outdoor patio with plenty of tables in the shade. The food was top notch - I had the Casper Power Bowl and it was was so good, really fresh with a delicious green goddess sauce. As a vegetarian, I've had a lot of salad bowls and this was one of best. I especially loved the generous amount of avocado. The staff were so kind and attentive, and it was such a treat compared to the service we got at many restaurants in town where no one would greet you for 10+ minutes. We were also able to bring our dog, which was an unexpected surprise as the restaurant is located within a museum. We called ahead and they were happy to accommodate our dog, we just had to walk him through the lobby of the museum. I'll definitely be back here on my next trip! read more

We have visited the museum many times but not eaten at the Palate Restaurant there. We waited less than 30 min for a table with a magnificent view of the elk refuge. I had the soup of the day which was a delicious, delicate vegetarian corn "chowder" and the grown up grilled cheese. I would happily eat both again. read more

This was such a gem! I landed in Jackson around 11am and didn't know where to eat lunch. I looked at yelp and saw this was on the way to our air bnb. This is set is due the museum and this is a gorgeous spot for lunch! We walked in, the museum requires a temperature check and masks were required. We were seated immediately, we chose to sit outside and it was perfect. The customer service was friendly and attentive. We had drinks and lunch varying of the bison, salad, fish and chips. It was the perfect beginning of the trip and I would 100% return here. read more

The museum is a must see and The palate cafe compliments it beautifully. Much better than tourist type cafes you normally see at museums. I had a beer and cheese soup served in large round mug with a crispy bread on top. My husband had the avocado toast with trout. Both dishes were delicious. Bonus: You don't have to pay admission to enjoy the cafe. Come for a glass of wine and enjoy the view. We stopped in before our flight home but had I known about this cafe, we would have been here several times due to convenience and great food. The 15,000sf museum consists of Three different galleries and film. Very informative. read more

What a hidden gem! This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip. Truly; the members of our party (some of whom had been traveling for 2 weeks) agreed that this was the overall best culinary experience over that time. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and delicious. We especially loved the Bloody Mary, homemade chips and dip, mushroom soup, Palete salad, and lemon dessert. The prices were quite reasonable for the area. The staff was gracious and attentive. The scenery was breathtaking. The hostess was indifferent and and unaccommodating. We waited a while for the hostess to even acknowledge us standing by the entrance. Even though there were plenty of open tables, the hostess said the wait would be 15-20 minutes...what?! When we questioned her why, she said she just seated seven tables so she needs to "space out" the people coming as to not overwhelm the kitchen staff. Sounds like BS to me! How about seating the patrons, bring drinks, and explain the food would take a little longer than usual? If the kitchen can't handle the capacity, then reduce the seating in the restaurant! Turning away business when the restaurant is more than half empty is just bad service. read more

While in Jackson Hole, we visited the Wildlife Museum and stopped at Palate for lunch before leaving the museum. This restaurant is within the museum and has a great outdoor area with a view that is beautiful. Couches, firepits, tables and umbrellas line the outdoor space. The inside boasts large windows to bring the outdoors in. We unfortunately Came on a day when they were short staffed. We had to wait for a table even though there were plenty available. Our server never introduced himself as he was spread thin. I never got a water refilled when my glass sat empty. However, I did enjoy my nicoise salad with egg on top. It was fresh and filled with different levels of flavor. My husband had the bison gyros and they cut the meat with the grain, not against the grain, which made the bison chewy and tough. This place definitely has possibilities. The space is great...I'm sure when staffed it runs smoothly...if they took the time to cut their meat against the grain, that would fix the toughness of the meat...training of the staff to greet patrons with their name as well as coming back to check on the table for water refills would be a welcomed addition. The meeting I am attending is at the National Wildlife Art Museum. There is a restaurant there called Palate open for lunch. It has a great view and nice atmosphere. Three of us at the table had the fish and chips for $14. The fish was battered trout and the chips were thick potato chips. The tartar sauce was good and not over powering. I had fish and chips on Saturday and these, Wyoming style to celebrate the royal wedding. read more

We were sightseeing when we stumbled upon a museum. It was The National Museum of Wildlife Art. After walking through museum, we were starving. Luckily, the museum had a restaurant inside of it which is this one. It is fancy and has an amazing view. The service is great and we were seating quickly. We ordered Trout and Chips, Avocado Toast, Bison Gyro, and Palate Burger. The Trout and Chips was good. The trout was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. This dish came with a sauce that had sour cream, onions and more inside it. The sauce was a great complement to the trout. Next is the Avocado Toast. The avocado was creamy and the best. The toast was crunchy but not toasted too much. The Bison Gyro is okay in my opinion. The Bison was really good though. The meat was chewy but soft at the same time. Last but not least is the Palate Burger. The meat in the burger was the best part. It was juicy and not over cooked or undercooked. All of these dishes come with a side of homemade chips. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to dine and has a beautiful view. read more

What a gem. This is the restaurant at the National Museum of Wildlife Art. We had the nicest, most pleasant lunch on the terrace with a terrific waiter, Louie. He gave great advice about the food and accommodated us by taking our picture. It's always nice when the wait staff is knowledgeable and funny too. The food was very good. My companion had a Palate Turkey sandwich, I had try it, so delicious. I ordered the Pistou Market salad with shrimp. The green snap peas were a little tough but I attribute that to it being the end of the season for fresh garden veggies. The pesto vinaigrette flavor was delicious. Because there was some kind of fair in Jackson Hole and it was super crowded, we bypassed all the local restaurants and found Palate on Yelp. We were so happy that we didn't miss this great place and enjoyed the museum as well. read more

Visited the museum and ended up here for lunch. Had the game gyro and bison stew, which 2 of us shared. Excellent flavors, and subbed chips for a small salad which was also delicious. Sydnee our server was great and confirmed the owner also owns Gather in Jackson. We had been there too, and really enjoyed the food. Highly recommend! read more
