I went to Roosevelt's for lunch with a few friends. The restaurant which sits just off The Square is an elevated casual restaurant with a rustic, modern atmosphere. I ordered the Taft Smashburger which comes with two local beef patties, topped with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles and caramelized onions all served on a brioche bun. I ordered truffle fries on the side which I didn't think were so amazing. They were a little bit soggy and they just weren't hot and crisp in the way I was yearning for at that time. This is a nice restaurant right in the heart of town; there isn't much street parking and you will have to park a block away in a public city parking lot, the walk isn't far thankfully. Our server was wonderful and friendly. The food was excellent. I ordered the bison ribs. They were super tender and fall off the bone. I didn't care for the mashed potatoes that came with it. I would have liked the option to have a different side. The inside of the restaurant is really cool and totally fits the Jackson vibe. The reason this place gets only 4 stars is the prices. Holy moly! Sodas are $5. And are served in tiny cocktail glasses. I downed my first glass in no time and only got one more refill. Would have liked another but it was just too much of an inconvenience to wait for another tiny cup. They serve you room temperature water at the start. Also served in small whiskey glasses. Really? Serve some Ice water people... My mom also ordered one of their huckleberry lemonades. Also served in a tiny cocktail glass for $9 and no refills. I can understand special drinks not having refills, but $9 for what she got is Unacceptable. This place could have easily gotten 5 stars if it wasn't for their outrageous drink situation. I walked by this place on Friday and was so down for it. My best friend who is no longer with us, loved Teddy Roosevelt. Checked out the menu outside and was sold to come for dinner. Came in on Saturday and was impressed with how nice it was. We got seated inside the second floor, and waited a bit. Not a big deal. Up comes the co-owner named Kristen, who took our drink orders and our app. Drinks were great and the street corn was bomb. We all ordered our entrees and it was great. My burger was awesome. My mom enjoyed her chicken and mashed potatoes, and my dad inhaled his pasta dish. Service was great and it was enjoyable from start to finish. We liked our food spread out. My husband and I stopped by Roosevelts for a late lunch. We were seated right away and our waiter was very attentive. I ordered the beef ragu and my husband got a smashburger. I loved my ragu! We stopped in at Roosevelt's and unfortunately had a disappointing visit. The bartender was also our server- he was personable when he was around, but he spent most of his time chatting with a couple at the bar instead of checking on tables. The spinach dip was tasty but barely warm by the time it reached us, since it sat in the window for quite a while. I ordered the salad, and the chicken on it was so dry it was inedible - like sawdust. When the server finally returned (only to drop off the check), I showed him the chicken and let him know, but his response was simply, "thanks for letting us know." I ended up paying $22 for what was essentially just lettuce and goat cheese. Meanwhile, my husband's drink sat empty for long stretches without a refill. We had originally planned to stop here multiple times during our trip (we visit the area often), but after this experience, we'll be seeking out other options for the rest of the week. read more

Stopped in on a Monday afternoon for a quick bite before heading out of town. We got seated right away, and while our server was tied up with a big group, the bartender came over to grab our drink orders. We tried the pretzel bites with beer cheese to start which were really good! For entrees, we had the chicken Caesar salad with truffle fries on the side and the smash burger. Both were delicious. After a week of tent camping through Yellowstone and Tetons, we came to Jackson for our last night to enjoy a cabin, fresh shower, laundromat, and a nice meal for my birthday (39). As a family of 5, two adults and three boys. I booked a reservation on open table for 6:15pm, and commented for birthday. The city was vibrant and busy with people for a Friday evening in August. We arrived to a clean, modern, tasteful aesthetic that is good for new American fare. Loved the decor of Roosevelt history (in a modern style). Our server was kind and welcoming, and helped take the order for the boys right away. We enjoyed kids burgers, kids Mac n cheese (homemade), Prime rib cheesesteak Sammie and truffle fries, and the ragu (it was delicious). Food was fast, served fresh, and tasty. My only complaint was the kids Mac n cheese is not served with a side and the same price as the other kids meals (cheeseburger and fries). $12 no drink included and no side. Also for noting that it was my birthday on the reservation, it was not even mentioned. However table was ready for us when we arrived and that was wonderf But I would highly recommend this spot, great family friendly restaurant with a modern clean aesthetic. read more

Middle of the Road -- Not Sure What the Hype Is About It's unclear to me why certain restaurants get so much hype, and Roosevelts is one of them. It's not terrible by any means, but it's far from memorable. Overall, it's cute -- but that's about it. The food was solidly average. My daughter enjoyed her burger, but my salmon was both uninspired in flavor and plated in a way that felt outdated -- more 1980s banquet than modern bistro. Unappealing and underwhelming. My husband liked his Sagamore Hill Roast Chicken & Goat Cheese Salad, but again, it wasn't anything special -- definitely not the kind of meal that matches the buzz this place gets. The atmosphere was busy and touristy. Our server was friendly, but we were given the check before we even finished eating. Another staff member swooped in and started clearing plates while we were still sitting -- it felt rushed and borderline chaotic. To top it off, the prices are unreasonably high for what you get. For that kind of bill, you'd expect something more refined -- in both food and service. Roosevelts isn't bad, but if you're looking for a truly great meal or a relaxing experience, there are better options in Jackson. read more

Also got a side salad which was good. Fries were good as well. For dessert we got the bread pudding which was yummy. Service was also excellent (partially because hardly anyone was there). Overall, it's a solid choice for dinner. After our 50-mile bike ride, we made our way to Roosevelt's in Jackson, WY, hoping for a well-deserved dinner. While most places in town cater to tourists, we stumbled upon a true gem! We started with the pretzel bites, and let me tell you, the house mustard was exceptional--far from your average condiment. It's the best we've ever had! You must try it for yourself; it's truly unique. I paired the meal with a Grand Teton Old Faithful Ale, which was just perfect. For the main course, we went with the Snake River Farms NY strip (supporting local!) and the Cowboy Carbonara. Both dishes were fantastic. We even had a great chat with the manager, who mentioned that the restaurant has only been open for four months. Loved it! Great nod to Teddy. I had the chicken goat cheese salad. It was perfect. It was dressed so lightly I could hardly tell it was there which was EXACTLY how I love my salads. I usually order dressing on the side, because I hate Owen and salads are doused in it. I didn't this time, because the salad seemed like it was a very set recipe. I'm so glad I didn't, because it was perfect. My husband had the Smashburger and fries. The burger was amazing, but the fries were a little mushy. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Roosevelts, and felt welcome as soon as we entered this restaurant named in honor of President Teddy Roosevelt. We have conservationist Teddy Roosevelt to thank for our wonderful experience to the nearby National Parks because he established the National Park, Forest, game preserves and much more as President. Enlarged photos of Teddy decorated the walls, too. The bubbly Hot Springs Jalapeño Dip ($12) was a great starter with jalapeños, green chiles mixed with creamy cheeses and served with warm, fresh fried tortilla! I washed it down with an Athletic Brewing non alcohol beer (I'm the DD). Next, the Sagamore Hill Roast Chicken & Goat Cheese Salad ($18) was my winner entree! The creative salad of spring mix lettuces, roasted corn, toasted almonds, dried cranberries, roasted chicken, fried goat cheese, avocado, cornbread croutons and dressed with their Champagne Viniagrette was wonderful! My only complaint was the cornbread croutons were made with sweet cornbread, and I'm a savory cornbread fan-but that's a personal preference. The home run of the night was Hubs Taft Smashburger ($19). I want the recipe for the Roosevelt sauce, please! This stacked locally sourced beef, double patty burger is layered with melty American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, homemade pickles, caramelized onions, and finished with their Roosevelt sauce. I had done my research before heading to Jackson and Grand Tetons National Park for the day, and had narrowed our food options for dinner down to a few local restaurants. Roosevelts was on my short list as their menu looked appealing to both adults and kids, the ambiance seemed nice, and they had stellar Yelp reviews. All wins in my book! We'd been hiking or driving most of the day, and by the time dinner came around our four year old was tired and starving so we chose Roosevelts and since it was still early for dinner got in quickly and placed our orders. My daughter ordered a kid's hamburger, which she loved. I ordered fish and chips which while I thought were a bit below average in terms of crunch and flavor, were okay. It would have been nice to have had some vinegar to go with them, and for them to really have some seasoning to them. My husband had a fried chicken sandwich, and he didn't say a thing about it until he was about done when I offered him some of my fish I wasn't going to finish he offered me a bite of his sandwich but also said "I have to warn you it's very hard to chew" and man, was he right. I'm honestly not even sure how he ate as much of it as he did as it was bad. I very rarely say things like this in reviews but it was a bad sandwich, plain and simple, barely edible. We aren't ones to make a fuss, and the meal overall was OK, and when you pair it with nice ambiance, and decent service, it all sort of rounds out to a 3 star experience for us. I can't say I'll be back, but if I lived in the area I might give them the benefit of the doubt and try one more time just since this may have been a one off given the high overall star rating. We had a variety of salads and sandwiches for dinner, all tasty. That said, the fries were unsalted, and the salt in the shaker was too large a grain to shake out when we asked for salt. Everything else, though, was quite enjoyable. SERVICE: Service was friendly and prompt. There were a couple of bobbles. One of the cocktails came the first time with an unsalted rim, the second time with salt (and we weren't asked about it either time). And one entree salad came with an unordered protein.
