We came here looking for nearby dinner after attending a memorial just down the road. Average at best. The woman who sat us wanted to put us allllll the way in the far back. I had to explain that one of the people in our party has mobility issues and closer is better. I felt like I was bothering her, but she listened. Decor here really dated looking (lots of lacquered wood and Greek motif painted in the recessed ceilings) and could use a refresh. I had the chopped steak dinner on special. I asked for medium well cook and they did it right. The chicken seashell soup was OK but pretty bland. The rice I got with my food had hard pieces of uncooked rice mixed in with the cooked stuff. Yuck! I did like the cannoli cake I took home! Overall, this wasn't a bad meal and I might come back but I wouldn't exactly rave to my friends and family about this place. read more

This is a pleasant local family restaurant that has as its main distinction is that it's actually open for dinner, unlike most of the similar businesses along Northwest highway in Palatine. The service here was efficient and extremely pleasant. On our visit this April we had two of the daily specials. The Grecian chicken was mildly flavored but well cooked and delicious. The stuffed cabbage, however, was extraordinarily bland and disappointing. A nice feature is that the specials come with actual desserts beyond the usual rice pudding and ice cream. read more

Spacious local diner with a good selection. I had the country skillet, which was plenty of food and came with either toast or pancakes. I like the old fashioned ambiance! The food was pretty standard for breakfast that didn't knock it out of the park for me, but it also didn't disappoint. I'd come back to try other breakfast items. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Service is beyond awful. Did a pick up order and they messed up my order (I received the wrong item) on top of that, there was a piece of wax paper inside my food. Luckily we saw it before eating the melt. We could have choked on that. Overall it is a safety issue. Upon calling the restaurant, I spoke with THREE different people. Each one of them was rude, not once one of them said they were sorry this happened. They asked for me to go back to the restaurant if I wanted a refund (which is ridiculous bc I would t want to drive 10 mins just to get a refund after they inconvenienced me twice. One of the three ladies finally said she would void the transaction. Well that hasn't happened yet. None of them gave out their name. Overall, terrible experience. read more

Very large and varied menu. Dinning area is nice with multiple types of tables. 6 of us seated at a round table I. The corner of the room. Easy access and maneuverability. Sandwiches and soup were the hit of the day for our table. A grilled chicken sandwich and BLT Club were excellent. The Greek Lasagna was a very large portion and was good but very different than Italian or American style. The macaroni noodles vs lasagna style noodles were fine but almost made it more of a Mac n cheese dish covered with a red sauce My wife had cod which was good but had a very strong fishy smell, almost overwhelming The minestrone soup is the best I've ever had I could have easily had a second bowl and called it my meal. Loaded with veggies the flavor is fantastic. Everyone else's at the table enjoyed the chicken dumpling soup which could have had more chicken but still was satisfying. The lemon coconut cake was excellent. As was the carrot cake! Overall, we can't wait to go back and try more of the vast menu! read more

My wife and I have eaten here hundreds of times over 20 years. However, the last time we went the biggest pit bull I have ever seen on a long leash was seated next to us -- a clear violation of Illinois law. The dog came within 1 foot of my wife and scared her out of her mind. It also smelled like it had just gone swimming in a pond. When I spoke to the manager, Jeannie, she raised her voice and waved her hands instead of having a civil conversation. Restaurants should know better. My husband and I met some friends for brunch at Palatine Inn Restaurant. The restaurant was decorated very nicely for the holidays. We were seated right away despite being pretty busy. Once we ordered, it took a long time for our drinks and food to come out. When the food did make its appearance, it was plentiful and delicious. I ordered the pigs in a blanket, and they were enormous. The food at Palatine Inn Restaurant is really good, but the speed at which customers are served needs to be improved. When I think of suburban family dining in the 90's Palatine Inn just has that look and feel that harkens back to the Jersey diners of old The food was standard, and their salmon burger came out pretty plain. I am a very picky person when it comes to my food!! My 2 scrambled eggs were perfect and fluffy! NOT, runny or brown on the bottom like most of the new places I've tried! Yay! My bacon was as I had requested, nice and super crispy and not burnt, or like elastic and stretchy. Yay! My toast was great, evenly toasted brown and warm. I have oredered skirt steak with eggs and homestyle potatoes with onions multiple times from them. The steak has been cooked medium rare per my instructions, with a delightful flavor without the need for sauces, juicy and tender. taters are sliced medallion style, pan fried with a slight char, and the onions are transluscent and perfect. My eggs arrived as ordered, over easy, with that yummy yolk I prefer as a dipping sauce. I added a side of bacon, which was 6 pieces that are crispy, perfect texture and flavor. The portion size is so big, that I filled up on the potatoes, eggs, half the bacon, and a few bites of the steak. The remaining steak and bacon is in my fridge, joyous leftovers I am eager to revisit. read more

We were a party of two recently on a Saturday early evening There was a good sized crowd of seniors and a few families with kids. We were seated promptly. I've been coming here for years and love their choice of soups and the specials that include soup or salad and a dessert. Very olde school which I enjoy. The soup was delicious. The side salad was large and fresh. But sadly the two chicken specials we ordered were not. The chicken kebab over rice was dry and the vegitables were burnt to a crisp. Some of the mushroom were like eating charcoal and others had a sour/stale taste. The chicken was bone dry. You could tell the kebabs were not freshly made that day. The Greek half chicken over rice was also dried out. Thank goodness for the lemon sauce or the chicken would have been inedible. We'll at least we could end the meal with desert. Oh boy. So the rice pudding was good but the vanilla cake was soggy as if water melted and soaked the cake. It fell apart on the plate. Inedible. I politely mentioned this to the waitress and to the cashier when they asked how our dinner was. Both just brushed off my honest comments. We hesitate to come back. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This was the worst experience I have ever had at restaurant. I take my mom out to eat everyday. This is what she likes to do. Looking at my mom, you can tell that she is sick and has cancer. She was wearing a Chemo hat. My mom ordered an omelet and coffee. She likes cream and sugar in her coffee. I asked for more sugar since they only have the little packets. The waitress told us that the amount of sugar on the table is enough for us. I offered to pay for extra sugar if that was a problem. She stood at the table and watched my mom add the sugar in her coffee. The waitress had the nerve to open 2 packets and dump it my mom's coffee. No server should ever add anything to a persons food once it is on the table. My mom said the coffee was bad. We were treated horribly. When we went to pay the bill, the manager went up to the man standing behind us and asked him if he thought that the amount of sugar on the table was enough. It is no ones business on how you like your coffee. The manager said that they thought we were going to steal the sugar packets from the restaurant. How horrible to treat people like that. Especially elderly and people clearly going through Chemotherapy. If sugar makes my mom happy, let her have as much sugar as she would like. Palatine Inn is your typical greasy spoon to come for breakfast or dinner. I have come for dinner before COVID and during COVID. The #polishstinians came here before for Beef Liver and Roast Turkey. We came in the evening, a little later than the dinner rush. You get your breadbasket (which contains individually wrapped bread, which is rare and sanitary and great). The service was great and the server gave us input on how the food would taste. All entrees come with soup or salad, a choice of potato or rice, and a dessert. The Beef Liver was made old school style, pan fried, with oven browned potatoes. My husband loved the liver and how it was cooked. He ordered them medium and they gave it to him cooked the way he requested. The roasted turkey cake with a sweet stuffing and gravy. I also asked for oven browned potatoes, although it normally comes with mashed. There is quite the amount of gravy, and it was delicious. I do wish the stuffing was more savory, but it was delicious. We both received a dessert after dinner. I had the tapioca and loved it. It reminded me of the diner days back in the day. During COVID, we ordered food to go. My husband got the liver again. This time, I ordered the Grecian chicken breast. The Grecian sauce was great, I asked for it on the side. It was a great compliment to the meal. They were sanitary and practiced social distancing. They also made sure to ask if I needed anything with my meal (sauces or condiments) and i was pleased. This is a great business and can't wait to go back in to eat again. If I could give Palatine Inn 0 stars I would. By far thee WORST dining experience I have ever had. The owners daughter; I didn't catch her name so here's a description. She's the short and stubby one with the horrible makeup who looks like she needs a shower. She is a miserable person. It's Easter and we as a family have been to their restaurant several times and never have had issues with their mediocre food. My mother in law who is this person's elder asked for a new steak as hers was chewy to the point where her fork bent. Our other piece of steak was not like this. The owners daughter rudely told my mother in law she would have to pay for both and blamed the bent fork on us. A restaurant should take accountability for serving a bad piece of meat. Palatine , Illinois October , 2019 Met the guys for lunch today at the Palatine Inn , some 21 miles from my home. What , am I nuts ? Who drives 21 miles to grab a sandwich ? Well , this was to accommodate one of the guys who recently relocated to a rehabilitation facility nearby. Ok then. That being said , he was a no show. It snowed here a few days ago and there are some ice patches still on the ground. Being fearful of a slip and fall on the ice he stayed at his facility. Soooo , we few , we happy few , we band of brothers , we who braved the elements to rendezvous at the Inn , were seated at the Round Table like knights of yore. There was Sir Gawain , Lancelot , Percival , Galahad , Gareth , Bedivere , oh , and of course , King Arthur. We placed our orders with the server and our food and libations were delivered forthwith. We dined , we drank , we conversed , we exchanged war stories , many filled with inside jokes. The food was good , the service excellent , free parking in the private lot. Treated like kings we were , Celebrating a belated Veteran's Day meal. And Veteran's Day shall ne'er go by , from this day to the ending of the world , but we in it shall be remembered... The food is so good and my personal favorite was the all day breakfast. The service is so nice and very welcoming.

We came in to share a family meal with my sister and her family. Six of us in total, and we were seated at a nice, big table near the back. Once we were seated, however, it took a LONG time for anyone to come by other than a water delivery, and server introduction. We actually had to wave down our server after we waited for a while for someone to take our order. The food came in a good amount of time, and the dinner was pretty tasty overall. Each of us got what we wanted, and enjoyed the meal. I tried the chicken with artichokes, and it was very good with enough for another meal the next day. A bit salty, especially on day 2, but otherwise good flavors. Not a big deal, just annoying, is the extra charge if you pay by credit. It's a small amount, so really not a huge issue, but very much not customer friendly. This, along with slower service, might keep us from coming here more often, even though it had been a go-to place in the past. We paid by cash for the principle of it, but then were broke. ;-) read more

I ate there once before and the server was great and the food was great. I stopped there tonight and went into the restroom to find a toilet seat with only one bolt. As I was leaving the restroom, an older lady was walking in and asked me if the toilet seat was fixed. I told her it wasn't and she said that she told the owner's daughter about it previously. She mentioned it to the person again and was polite about it. The owner's daughter got very nasty with the lady and said"It's Sunday, who's going to fix it on Sunday?" The lady reminded her that she told her about it previously and the owner's daughter said" end of discussion!" I couldn't believe how she treated a customer. Their food is good, our server was very pleasant but who wants to give business to someone who doesn't appreciate her customers? She was still being very loud about it, with the employees, after the customer left. I get the lady's concern. If she had fallen she could have broken a hip. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. read more

I've come to this restaurant in the past, but, it had been a few years. Wife and I stopped in for some breakfast. Her first time here. They have a full bar, which is nice. They also have saganaki, and I love cheese. So, I ordered the saganaki, sausage patties, & cottage cheese. Wife had a gyros breakfast with eggs & fruit. We also had a screwdriver & mimosa. I liked all my food. Wife liked hers but wasn't impressed with the gyros meat. She said it seemed packaged and reheated, not cut right at restaurant. Does that make it any worse? I'll break things down this way ... Food - 4 star, top notch. Good quality on the whole. (He wrote as my omelette arrived, er, well done). Potatoes Luke warm. Service - 3 star. This one not on servers, they are just fine. Kitchen is slow. A little slow in getting seated. It's not a crowded morning. Value - this kills the whole score. I'm convinced chickens must be laying golden eggs. It's bad enough the basic cost of an omelette is between $12 & $15. But to add an extra $1.25 for cheese on anything is getting silly. I realize cheese generally has added a bit to the cost, but if you want a meat and cheese for example, you get soaked the extra. If that isn't enough, now you're going to get soaked an extra 4% if you use plastic (yes, even debit). You get hammered on a 22, 24, 29 percent interest, (maybe lower if your credit score is 900) now the extra...WOW ! Funny it wasn't too long ago you were being begged to use credit card (remember, cash money is so so DIRTY and infectious). Does it come off the servers tip ? If they provide good service, it shouldn't, but what do you do? As I've railed in my reviews in the past, when you need to take a second mortgage just to have breakfast, well what can I say. $20 plus for a single breakfast ... it's getting too excessive. What used to be a 2-3 times per week joy is turning into a once or twice a month odyssey. Maybe it's time to turn to Lucky Charms or Cheerios or something. Palatine Inn has been in Palatine for many years and they know what they are doing. The menu is pretty extensive and features all the breakfast/sandwich items you would expect, and some dinner items I would not go for myself - i.e. liver and onions for example. But some people love that stuff! I typically go with the turkey club which is always really good. It comes with a bowl of soup so usually, I take half the giant sandwich home with me for later.You get a lot of food here! My wife has had salads which are always good. Prices are not as high as some local places offering the same things. The wait staff gives you time to order and if you are not ready they are happy to come back when you are. No sense of being rushed here. By the same token they don't forget about you either. Overall a great place to eat at. Highly recommended. read more
