    Chicken tortilla soup

This is a pleasant local family restaurant that has as its main distinction is that it's actually open for dinner, unlike most of the similar businesses along Northwest highway in Palatine. The service here was efficient and extremely pleasant. On our visit this April we had two of the daily specials. The Grecian chicken was mildly flavored but well cooked and delicious. The stuffed cabbage, however, was extraordinarily bland and disappointing. A nice feature is that the specials come with actual desserts beyond the usual rice pudding and ice cream.

Omelette. Lots of omelette choices. Served with hash browns toast or pancakes. My son selected pancakes

Visited here a few times and it is very consistent. Wide assortment and daily specials on the menu. Three soup choices a day with their Matza ball daily. That is my favorite. Have tried omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches and all our decent. Consistently friendly staff and decent portions. Dessert case with pies, cakes and ice cream assortment. Worth a stop to check it out

Everything needs to improve. Poor food then vacuuming u see the table you are eating at. I would rate this restaurant a zero if I could. The daughter of the owner needs to watch her mouth and she needs a new attitude if she wants to work with the public.

Spacious local diner with a good selection. I had the country skillet, which was plenty of food and came with either toast or pancakes. I like the old fashioned ambiance! The food was pretty standard for breakfast that didn't knock it out of the park for me, but it also didn't disappoint. I'd come back to try other breakfast items.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Service is beyond awful. Did a pick up order and they messed up my order (I received the wrong item) on top of that, there was a piece of wax paper inside my food. Luckily we saw it before eating the melt. We could have choked on that. Overall it is a safety issue. Upon calling the restaurant, I spoke with THREE different people. Each one of them was rude, not once one of them said they were sorry this happened. They asked for me to go back to the restaurant if I wanted a refund (which is ridiculous bc I would t want to drive 10 mins just to get a refund after they inconvenienced me twice. One of the three ladies finally said she would void the transaction. Well that hasn't happened yet. None of them gave out their name. Overall, terrible experience.

My husband and I met some friends for brunch at Palatine Inn Restaurant. The restaurant was decorated very nicely for the holidays. We were seated right away despite being pretty busy. Once we ordered, it took a long time for our drinks and food to come out. When the food did make its appearance, it was plentiful and delicious. I ordered the pigs in a blanket, and they were enormous. The food at Palatine Inn Restaurant is really good, but the speed at which customers are served needs to be improved. I still highly recommend this establishment.

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked Dario's a lot and will be going for more. Check them out.

However, my issue is that I went in with one other person and we ordered two paninis and two cans of sprite (one of each for each of us), with one salad bowl to share. It was $55 dollars after tax. Maybe it's me but it seems like a lot. The service isn't really a question here. It's not bad. They call your name, you grab your food, and bus your own table when you're done. Pretty standard. However, If they did that for you, the price wouldn't bother me as much because thats a proper service. To talk a bit about the restaurant itself, it's small with more space to eat outside than inside, but thats just lovely right now in the summer. The place looks clean too. They had complimentary coffee which was nice. The staff are reasonably young. Probably late high school or freshmen in college but that doesn't mean they can't do a good job. Overall, I don't know if I'd recommend this place to everyone. Im conflicted. I like big portions and quality foods of course, and this was great in flavor, just pricey. To reference the surrounding area, I can go here, or to Emits across the street which is consider the finest dining in downtown Palatine past the Argentinean Bendita and Bella Pizza, and spend around the same amount of money. Still the best panini I've had in a while though.

I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it.

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.

And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!
