We're in Detroit quite a few times each year for hockey and Palazzo di Bocce is demanded by my teenage daughter every time we make the trip! I personally love the lasagne with the meat sauce. Its closer to Lake Orion but we typically drive 30-40 minutes just to go here. Their service has always been a positive experience anytime we go too. read more

My wife and I had been wanting to try this place for sometime. Last night we decided to stop in and have a bite. I ordered the build your own pasta and sue ordered the stuffed shells. The service was fantastic and the atmosphere was awesome. The restaurant is located in the center of the building and on both sides are Bocce Ball lanes. So you can eat your dinner and watch people play Bocce Ball. The food came out nice and hot and it was very flavorful. My wife ordered the skillet Cookie for desert and unfortunately it was fairly raw when it was served to her. That is the only reason why I did not give a 5 star rating. I would recommend this place to anyone who can appreciate a great Italian dinner and the rest of you Bocce Ball players. read more

I came here today for the first time in a very long time. I remember coming here ages ago and having a ton of fun. Today was no different. When I walked in, the place was clean and as well decorated as I remember it. I forgot that they had a really cool fountian near the bar area which I loved. The staff here is really friendly and helpful. When I first arrived I sat at the bar and talked to the bartender for a few minutes and he gave me simple instructions on how to play bocce. After Shannon and Dan O arrived, we checked in and were shown to court two. If your eating courtside, they only serve limited appetizers for food. It's basically two styles of pizza, and a few other dishes. I went with the Italian Meatballs and Shannon got the fried ravioli. Both were tasty and delicious! When we were ready to start a really nice instructor came over to tell us how to play. We all played and had a good time. I also enjoyed that our server was attentive and refilled our drinks constantly. She was wonderful and did a really good job. I also learned that if you want a full menu you have to dine in the dining area. I see why, but honestly I don't know that I plan on coming here just to eat. I love how clean and well maintained the place is. That's important to me. I will be back in the future! read more

Prices seemed in line for fine dining. Now we booked a bocce court at 7:00. Arrived at 6:00. The front seemed overly concerned that we wouldn't make our start time to the point of being pushy. I mean I'm paying for the court. I can read a watch. I'm in the place. So eating 15 of the 80 minutes is on us. We still got a game in with no rush. Plus we can eat while playing. Soooo go but leave 90 minutes prior for your meal so the staff and you can relax. Now I'm no bocce pro but the court surface was looking threadbare and was bubbling up in spots making for some interesting wiggly rolls. All in all a unique night with good food. I think this establishment has a lot to offer and is very underrated in my opinion. A great assortment of fresh pastas with a nice selection of sauces to compliment your choice. Of course they offer typical Italian dishes: Lasagna, Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Parmesan, etc. I really enjoy the atmosphere here. Spacious and well appointed with a subtle fountain in the middle. Highly recommended; what a fun evening! I have been wanting to come here for a while and I am glad I finally did. I called to see if we needed to make a reservation for dinner and bocce and they recommended it and suggested what times would work well. We had a lovely dinner (good sized menu, big portion sizes, good value) with great food, drinks and service. Some of the items ordered include: mushroom soup, tomato basil soup, rosemary chicken, pine nut encrusted whitefish and seared sea scallops and everything was great. We all especially liked the cherry crush cocktail. Then we played bocce ball for 1.5 hours at $10 per person and had a great time. My family of four went last night to celebrate two August birthdays. We went about ten years ago, and wondered why it took us so long to return? The esthetic is gorgeous, and for a few hours, I felt that I was in Tuscany, although I have never been there, I imagine that is what it would look like. First and foremost, the staff was absolutely amazing, both attentive and friendly. We had the pleasure of having Renee as our server. We did not order drinks, and oftentimes the servers seem miffed that we did not, Renee was totally fine with it, and filled our water carafe several times throughout our meal. We had the Fried Ravioli and artichoke spinach dip as starters. If we had to choose one, it would by far be the Artichoke spinach dip, it was loaded with artichoke pieces, creamy and was delicious. She even brought over extra tortilla chips. Renee raved about the Mushroom soup, it was everything she said it would be and more, buttery, velvety and just layers of flavors. The Family sized Antipasti salad was fresh and chockful of veggies and olives. The Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Piccata were served with large pieces of chicken and the flavor profile was spot on. I ordered the Gnocci with Chicken and jalapeño sauce, it was good but next time would try something else. I thought I could handle the heat, but I am wimpier than I thought. All through our meal Renee came back to check in on us, asking how everything was. The dishes were cleared promptly. We did not order desserts as we had birthday cake at home, but next time plan on trying the cannoli. Renee was kind to place our leftovers in the fridge while we played bocce and remembered to bring it out when we finished. Next..... we played bocce!!! We waited for someone to show us how to play, she was patient and kind. We had the best 80 minutes ever, it was so much fun - much more fun than golfing or bowling! We were brainstorming of what group we could come again soon with: friends, neighbors, family, in-laws, coworkers or maybe just the four of us again? When we paid for bocce Jay (manager? bocce pro? server?) asked what was better the food or the Bocce? That was a tough question to answer as both were absolutely amazing! Renee came back as we checked out to ask which team won. The fact that all of the staff came and checked on us numerous times throughout our visit to make sure that our experience was exceptional only added to the outstanding time that we had at your fine establishment. To the owner: kudos to you for hiring employees who obviously love what they do, and they do it so well. Thanks to all of you for making our birthday celebrations unforgettable! Oh how I wish this gem were closer to my house! We joined a group of friends this past Saturday for and hour and 1/2 court reservation and dinner. When the four of us arrived, we were greeted by the friendly hostess, who steered us to the bar while the remainder of our 10 person party assembled. Drink prices were reasonable: they ranged from 5 - 8 dollars for craft pints, wine, and well drinks. As soon as we were all assembled, we were escorted to our court, where a knowledgeable staff member explained the rules to us in a pithy, understandable style. For the next hour and 1/2, the 10 of us battled it out in newbie style; our enthusiasm far outpacing our skill (red won!). Dinner following the bocce was excellent. The average entree price was well under $20.00. With drinks and a $10.00 court fee, most of us paid under $50/person including tip. What a fun time! read more

I have early memories of playing Bocce with my Great Uncle down by the Jersey Shore. So it's a game I'm familiar with and I think it's awesome to combine italian food and the game of bocce!! The food and service were both great. Everything I tried (of my own and my family's plates) was delicious. I personally got the white fish with mashed potatoes and a lemon cream sauce. The sauce was absolutely amazing. Totally made the dish. My brother got the Spinach Agnolotti which I also highly recommend especially if you like your food spicy! I will say as a family when we go out we never get dessert except for maybe like once a year. We tried all sorts of desserts here. The tiramisu was spot on. The cannoli were good but the shell was a little too hard. Overall my family really enjoyed this restaurant. It's fun and something you don't find everywhere. read more

We've been driving past this place for years always saying we need to stop in and try it. Well we finally did and we're not disappointed in any way. Unfortunately we didn't play bocce but were quite impressed with everything else. The layout of the place is really nicely done with the bocce lanes actually incorporated around the restaurant itself. Super high ceilings throughout an elegant setting. Our waitress Cheyenne was great with recommendations and explanations of the menu items and specials. Our food was delicious, We started with an appetizer of Calamari which was cooked perfectly and delicious then came their Mushroom Soup, possibly the best mushroom soup I've ever had. For my entree I ordered the Blackened Chicken Gnocchi, (homemade potato gnocchi in a spicy smoked tomato sauce with blackened chicken), as Jim Carrey said in Bruce Almighty...it was Goooood ! We came here for my 17 yo grandson's birthday 8 of us in all. We sat in the dinning area near the cool water ball fountian. The place is huge and so nicely appointed. Real "clubhouse " feel. We had a variety of the appitizers and menu items. All really tasty. One teen got plain spaghetti $14.00..really, really ! Nothing on a "kids" menu..I mean $14.00 for a cup of spaghetti... Even though I didn't play, my dinner party of six had a good time with good food. Very family friendly. A minor thing, but just be sure to tell the very friendly waitstaff to remind the bartender to mix your evening cocktails appropriately. Ours were pretty skimpy considering the prices. read more

First time visiting Palazzo, which is located about a mile or so north of the Old Palace. It won't be my last. So much to say about this place. First, it's beautiful. Nice airy space, decorated smartly and they don't have tables stacked on top of each other. So, even though it was a crowded Saturday night, we felt very far away from other diners. Now the food. It was great. The meatballs were an excellent starter. Nice size, with just a hint of spice on a wonderful bed of sauce. The mushroom soup is a work of art. So smooth and creamy bursting with an earthly mushroom flavor. Our table had the Chicken Parm, Rosemary chicken and the short ribs. Everyone loves their entree. Not only the entrees, but the sides as well. The crispy Brussel sprouts and potatoes were awesome. Finally, the Bocce. We had a great time learning and playing bocce. The lanes are well kept and you can learn the game in 60 seconds! Anyone can play. All in all it was a great night out with friends. Next time, we are trying the pizza, the people playing bocce next to us ordered a couple pies and they looked and smelled to die for. read more

Too bad this place is so far from us. I could be a regular. Friends of ours made reservations for 3 pm on Sunday. We got there at 2:30. The hostess was very polite and pleasant. Not too many people in the building at all.What a beautiful venue. Lots of open space. There is restaurant seating in the middle of the main building. Looks like you are in Italy. Sat at the bar and talked to John. He was very outgoing and willing to talk about the establishment and football. There are 6 lanes in the main building. I think you have a 80 minute time limit per reservation. The 4 of us got 3 full games in including a couple of beers. I have not played a lot of indoor bocce but I can say that these lanes are very nice. Beautifully maintained with a spotless playing surface. We had very friendly service and enjoyed the heck out of the get together. I cannot wait to schedule a group event here. This is a BIG go to place in my book. read more

Food was mediocre at best and expensive for what it was. We went with a large group for a birthday party and rented two courts. Our rental was supposed to be from 7:30-9:30 but apparently there was a breakdown in communication somewhere along the time and our reservation was put in from 7:30-9. That's fine things happen but Management's handling of the situation was completely unacceptable. Instead of coming to speak to our party directly a waitress was running back and forth between us and management to deal with the scheduling issue. We were told everything was all set for us to stay until 9:30 and then at 9:05 the manager came to tell us to leave. She was unapologetic and actually came onto the court and kicked the balls. Mistakes get made and that's fine but acting like a petulant child is unacceptable and uncalled for. read more

Such a fun and different place to go with a group of friends for a game and dinner. Anyone can play from beginners to pros, they welcome everyone and for the beginners, they will teach you everything you need to know before playing. They serve food and drinks court side while you play or you can sit down and have a meal at the restaurant which has very delicious food and great service. This place is intense! Insanely HUGE! When we were eating dinner, I felt like we were eating at an outdoor tennis club. That said, I loved it here. I'll start with dinner. Overall, I thought dinner was pretty solid. Maybe a tad overpriced, but hey, someone has to pay for the monstrosity of a building that is Palazzo di Bocce. I ordered the ravioli and my girlfriend ordered some kind of pasta with alfredo, we were both pretty happy with what we ate. They also serve up some solid bread before dinner. Onto the Bocce. I LOVE Bocce ball. While part of myself was yearning for the backyard style bocce at first, I learned to appreciate the more traditional form of Bocce played here. Think that table-top shuffleboard game with sawdust on huge courts with heavy ceramic balls. Throw in some courtside food and cocktails and you've got yourself a solid night. Just FYI--I went with a group of 4 and thought it was a good size group to play Bocce. Remember, the more people there are, the less you get to throw the Bocce balls, and, honestly, what fun is that? read more
