    Loco Moco. Delicious and humongous!
    David W.

Humongous proportions on the Loco Moco. See the black sauce? Underneath is half an inch layer of rice that spread out. They give large amounts. The two beef patties are delicious and generous as well! You top that with fried egg with runny yolk on top, a bit of grilled onions, a nice Mac salad on the side and generous amount of smoky and peppery Loco Moco Sauce, it's such a value meal at $18! The wait wasn't all that bad neither. About 10 minutes right at the beginning, and you'll get a fresh, hot to-go plate to eat in this food cart plaza. Overall, a fantastic place to drop by.

Strips of fried chicken (katsu) along with two scoops of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. It has a small cup of sauce on top.

I've been to this cart a few times and liked it a lot, but I recently came back from a trip to Hawaii. Now I can say their katsu and mac salad is even better than what I had there! They have friendly and helpful service too, and wait times aren't as long as some of the other trucks. Nice to be able to wait in the shade. Mahalo!

    Spicy Ahi Poke- weekend special!

I've reviewed here before- but if you are a Hawaiian food fan, you need to come here! One of the only places regionally that does Meat Jun. Not only do they have it, but it's done right. I feel like I'm on Kauai when I'm eating it. The teriyaki beef and chicken are both phenomenal. A real rich and flavorful sauce. Great mac salad too! They had a poke special today, I got a spicy poke bowl. So good! Satisfied my craving! We've had the Loco Moco, and the noodles too. All great. The owners are great people. So fun to support them and also get amazing food!

    Meat jun (regular size)

Best meat jun on the mainland that I've had so far! The quality of their meat jun makes me want to try their whole menu. So one of my favorite dishes to get in HI is meat jun. It's a dish you don't find often in restaurants on the mainland and even more rare to find a version close to HI. This is the CLOSEST. Family working this food cart was very nice and you can tell they are working hard to put out good food. Luckily I came when I did, because I think they closed right after I ordered. Meat jun: perfectly marinated meat, good egg consistency, and the sauce has the right amount of vinegar to it. Don't get me started on how restaurants in Seattle mess up on the sauce. Super tender meat, rice was good, Mac salad was delicious too! I usually take a piece of meat jun, dip one side in the sauce, drag it across some rice (I love saucy to rice) and eat it all together. SO ONOOOO

Yum! They had this as a weekend special and hope that they make it a regular item on their menu. This bowl was filled with rice and spicy ahi, avocado, topped with furikake and green onions. I enjoyed their take on a spicy ahi poke bowl. Staff were very friendly and welcoming!

Tucked into the food cartel in Beaverton, this spot stood out from the SMELL. I had the Garlic Chicken, a special of the day, and my mouth was watering even before I took a bite. The dish was well made, full of garlicky, sweet, and salty flavors. I'm giving it 4 stars because I thought it was a tad bit too salty, to a point that it was almost bitter. Another qualm is that I wish there were combination plates available :( but I do understand why they don't allow combination plates.

Sunday special! Was ALL so good.

Fabulous food here. Great service. Specials like mixed plate with kalua, lau lau, and poke. Locally owned and family run. I LOVED my food. It's hard to find lau lau here in Oregon, (unless you gon make at home) and it was so delicious. I also got to introduce lau lau to a haole friend who had it the first time here. You have two new fans, Palenaka's! Open Wednesday - Sunday 11:30am-7:30pm Located at BG Food Cartel. They use pagers to let you know when your order is ready which is helpful since inevitably you'll go here and order from more than one cart since there's several food and drink options.

During these hard times, it's hard to find somewhere to eat on the fly. It was middle of lock down coming to dinner time, we were starving and desperate for something kanak attack worthy. I've had palenakas bookmarked for a while so I was happy to see they were one of 9 food trucks open during the lockdown. We ordered the meat jun and the service was great. A cute mom and pop food truck. Super welcoming people Good: FLAVOR TOWN! Great portion size and their Mac salad is mayjah Bad: the beef was kind of chewy

I've only had the loco moco from this food truck but I can say that it was phenomenal. Definitely did not skimp on the meat. The gravy sauce is savory and so flavorful. Not too salty either. I can't wait to try more next time I visit the area.

This was the sauciest teriyaki chicken we've ever had. The portion size was huge, and the chicken was tender. We just wish it would have come with a side of vegetables.

Taste of home! This is my second time trying out Palenakas. Today my husband and I got the special Kalua pork, laulau and shoyu poke combo and fried noodles for our son. Everything was ONO! fresh and steaming hot!

    What's this weekend special please?

    Garlic Shrimp!

Do they have lau lau every day? I'm not seeing it on their menu.

Laulau is a weekend special we try to have at least once a month with poke. We will have the Laulau Kalua special on June 17 & 18. Check out Facebook and Instagram for more updates!

Well, after finally getting a chance to browse all the pods, I found Dad's chicken, but nothing was grillin'. So I came back here to Pares PDX Express instead. Checked out the side menu, checked out the prices, and out comes a brutha from anotha mutha! Welcomes me, so I asked my pare "What's good?" He said, "Everything!" smh, "Damn!" A good sign :(but not a good sign for me healthwise:) haha! I asked how long he's been open, and he said, "Since September." Still fresh and new to me, so my yelpie duty was to support my locals. Here's what I ordered: Drawn to the Crispy Kare-Kare ($15), this caught my eyes! (Optional read) Typically, the Filipino kare-kare meat used is with cuts of chuck steak and boney beef neck. Some like using pork hocks. Sometimes kare-kare will have beef tripe added. But personally for me, I love my mom's version using oxtail. I don't like the neck, I don't need tripe, it's gotta be OXTAIL!!! Besides, it's all about the stew and the saucy peanut buttery flavor. About Pares PDX kare-kare version... I saw "Crispy" and knew this was referring to either crispy pata or lechon kawali (aka deep fried pork belly with skin). They serve their kare-kare with crispy pork belly, bok choy, long string beans, and eggplant. The stew of peanut sauce was drizzled on top. With the home-made shrimp bagoong (fried shrimp paste) in between. I would have stayed outside on the patio tables, but it was going to rain. So I rushed home, and mmm mmm mmm the pieces were still nice and crispy indeed! I haven't had pork belly in so long that I was in heaven, not worrying if I needed to go to the hospital afterwards lol. You can have the dish with plain rice or garlic rice. I chose the garlic rice, which is almost a given. A bit of more information: ~ They've got a QR code to view the menu and/or place an order. ~ Majority or nearly all of the dishes were $15 average. ~ To feed your eyes, there are pics of the dishes on the side of the truck. ~ Service was pleasant and fast. Can't say I'll ever order what I can make myself, like adobo, sisig, pinoy style spaghetti, or lumpia, but I will definitely be back to try their version of pansit palabok, laing, dinuguan, and turon. I'll even try their "halo halo" next time! The Filipino authenticity, kinda like mom's style is here! Come check them out!

Multiple times now, I have placed an order, watched the status change to "Confirmed" and even "Preparing," only for the restaurant or their system to cancel the order abruptly after the Dasher is already assigned or on their way. This is not just a minor inconvenience; it completely wastes time and effort planning a meal. A major contributing factor is that they frequently forget to close and update their DoorDash channel, showing they are available for online ordering when they are not. It gives the false hope that the food is on its way, only to be cancelled last minute, forcing a scramble to find dinner/lunch elsewhere. The management needs to seriously address their online order process, communication with delivery platforms, and their kitchen capacity. If you cannot fulfill an order, it should be rejected immediately, not 30-40 minutes after confirmation. Until this issue is fixed, I cannot recommend ordering from here, especially for delivery. It's too unreliable to depend on.
