Well.....I got the itch for good old Palermos.....unfortunately this was not it! Got the 2 person special....salad was ok...need tangier italian...kinda like ChiChi's..add a touch of redwine vinegrette. Spaghetti ok, pasta was good but meat sauce was like chef boy ardee. Pizza was horrendous.....just thick, chewy cardboard, doughy pizza...Papa Johns is next door and probably a better choice! Sorry don't mean to bag....I just hope Palermos owners/management reads this and fix's the Pizza recipe.....thinner, crunchier crust would be a major improvement!!! Came in here for the first time with the bf. There's an actual restaurant (small) and a take out side if you want to bring home. The bf actually went to the take out side of the restaurant and brought me home some spaghetti a few weeks prior to this visit. I really enjoyed my spaghetti and they pack a lot of food, with a small side salad and breadsticks. It's worth the trip. Anyways we went inside for dinner and I actually got to see what was on the menu, I ordered the stuffed shells with marina sauce. 4 shells came out with baked cheese on top. Really big and they stuff them, I only ate a few.. they tasted homemade too. I also got a cesar salad with my meal and garlic bread. The bf got spaghetti and meatballs. Again lots of food, so he took it home. We will be back for more, I saw some other items I'd like to try out again. I'm also happy that I found a legit Italian restaurant in Simi, so we don't have to travel far to get some good food. read more

I used to frequent this restaurant back in the late 70's, early 80's. My ex b/f worked there at the time. There were different owners back in the day. Present day I found myself passing through Simi Valley and decided to get a slice of pepperoni with extra cheese. Not only was the slice huge, it was delicious! Fresh, flavorful and just the right amount of pepperoni. Had a lovely chat with Felicia who works there. Just ordered... first off we were missing 1 meal. The pizza was meh very thin and not filling. The chicken fettuccine was honestly the worst I have ever tasted. It even smelled weird. It's been about 35 years since my family has been to Palermos. We've moved out of state and came back to visit family in Simi Valley. We decided to come eat here for dinner tonight. Brenda the waitress was awesome. Very friendly, speedy service and the food was delicious. It tasted just like it did if not better than it did all of those years ago. When we thanked Brenda for our meal and wonderful service we told her that it's been a long time since coming here and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We told her the food was amazing and she was very happy to hear. She said that the new owners have had it for about a year and went back to the old time cooking everything from scratch. All homemade. I am a long time Simi Valley resident; I haven't been to Palermo for at least fifteen years. thought it was time for a visit, last time not so good and things haven't changed. I called to place a to go order, I ordered Chicken Picatti, House Salad, Garlic Bread with Cheese and Buffalo Wing's basic. I am a Chicken Piccata, Picatti or Franse, Big Fan one of my very favorite Italian meals to order! Their Picatti had no hint lemon and or garlic flavor the chicken was so so, only resemblance were the Caper's. Salad was not tossed the Italian dressing tasted like low end store bought. Garlic bread with Cheese was under cooked and had little cheese. Buffalow Wings were nasty and not sure what part of the Chicken, because of the heavy breading used! Bottom Line: there are very few good Italian restaurants in Simi Valley, and this is not one of them... I will never go back. read more

Pizzas are huge and oh so gooooood! Excellent service even with large groups. Had a party on the patio with 35 - 40 people. Could not believe how well the team took care of all of us. All it took was One year for this place to lose its appeal. No one wears masks or gloves and the old man plays with the salad with his hands and who knows where they've been. The food has taken two steps back in my opinion and I won't be coming back. read more

However, we are very happy we did go back because it is under new management and the food and service were very good. We had pizza and salad. Loud woman in the front.....kind of obnoxious....Slow to seat us, tables are open. The waitress, .....not concerned with us.minestrone..was eh. I expect the pizza to be good.....and.......... No silverware. Lady plops it in the middle of table....like we shouldn't asked. we just got a half-and-half spaghetti and cheese ravioli....3 ravioli is half and half? I've lived here many years and was hesitant to try Palermo based on mixed reviews. Curiosity got the best of me unfortunately. At $25 for a large 2-topping pizza, we expected greatness but were very disappointed. My son hated it. My wife said Costco pizza is better for half the cost. The sausage quality wasn't very good but the biggest problem is not enough sauce, causing the pizza to be extremely dry. I pulled up the cheese to see if there was any sauce at all. It was like eating cardboard. I had to bite down hard to literally tear pieces off, like a vulture tearing rotting flesh off a carcass. It's possible it was one bad pizza by a sloppy chef that was in a hurry but at this price, I'm not going back. read more

We went to Palermo for the first time today while waiting for our new tires to be put on at tire pros nearby. My husband and I each got the slice of pizza with a side salad lunch special and everything was so good!! I got the bbq chicken pizza (HUGE slice!) and it was so so good. The Italian dressing I got with my salad was homemade and delicious. My husband got a slice of the works and he also loved it and it looked amazing. We will definitely be going back soon!! Palermo's Grilled Chicken Salad is a ONE HUNDRED PER CENT RIP-OFF. $10.95 for a takeout Walmart-style $4 salad. From their menu: "We handpick the freshest produce from the local market every single day. Salads come with Red Leaf Lettuce, Baby Arugula, Spinach, Tomatoes, Red Onions & Red Cabbage." Yes, I guess to Palermo management that "hand picked" means putting by hand old iceberg lettuce and tomatoes into a shopping cart at the "local market", Vons. Not even one piece of red leaf lettuce, no arugula, no spinach. Some shreds of red onion and red cabbage, black olives and pepperoncinis is what I was served. And I can also guess that "grilled" chicken means some pre-cooked and blah chicken pieces re-heated on the flat top. While I can say that the salad was large, it was not as-advertised fancy salad they described and I cannot recommend it. If you can just know your business, know your menu, so if I call for a salad and you can't make it as advertised, tell me. Tell me and offer me a discount. But don't rip me off. Last visit their pizza quality had declined. And now this disappointing visit crosses Palermo off my list. And I work at a huge company around the corner. read more

Palermo's has always been our 'go to' place when all three kids want to go out to eat together (we have three teens so that is rare). We came tonight after a sporting event, and had the BEST experience. Our server, Miranda, was the HAPPIEST, most friendly server we have EVER experienced. I hardly write reviews... but I MUST for this place. It used to be a favorite, as the food was always respectable and the meatball pizza was AMAZING. I'm sad to say, this restaurant has become a dive... while trying to still charge the old prices for what used to be a MUCH better product. The meatballs on the pizza used to be homemade and amazing. As others have said, toppings are now some bland garbage that doesn't even remotely look like identifiable meat. They should be ashamed to serve this stuff. Sad to say, Simi lost another great place. Please, please listen to the others on here... new owners ruined what was once great by going cheap and hoping we wouldn't notice. Cannot say much, other than- don't go? Never have I ever had garlic bread ready within five minutes of being seated and eggplant parmigiana ready in less than 10 minutes. My 6yo grandaughter liked the spaghetti, but looking at it, you could see pasta water. Yuck! We were seated quickly at dinnertime; maybe that should've been the 2nd sign since the 1st was the lack of great reviews and no response from the management, but I try to form my own opinion... in this case, kinda wish I had listened to the reviews. We ordered a basket of garlic bread for the table. When our food came out right after we got it, low and behold another basket of garlic bread! Would've been nice to know- definitely didn't need two baskets of garlic bread for two adults and one kid! Very glad we shared the eggplant. Spending more money on less than mediocre food would have been a bigger bummer. Did I mention the side salad the eggplant came with? Hmmm, there's a reason for that. Iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot, shaved tomato, and the WORST Itailian dressing- not sure you could even call it that. I grew up with Italians, and they would definitely not disagree! I called in an order for a small cheese pizza ($15.70) and a house salad (says $6.95 on website) and arrived 45 minutes later, as told. They were extremely busy at 5:30 pm and we stood in line for a long time before being helped at the To Go door (There's not a lot of space to stand). Even after waiting over 10 minutes, in line, our order wasn't ready. The guy making the pies kept telling the woman ringing people up things that they we're already out of (5:30 pm). When it was our turn, to be rung up, somehow the total was $25.73. Our tax is 7.25%. So, not sure what the extra $ was charged for? Anyways, I ended up paying $30.00 total and had to throw out the salad when we got home. It tasted horrible! It didn't look anything like what I was expecting from the website description "freshest produce" "handpicked" "from the local market" of red leaf lettuce (none in the container), baby arugula (none in the container), spinach (none in the container), tomatoes (asked to leave out), red onions (so strong, it overwhelmed the salad), and red cabbage (none in the container). What I was given was equivalent to the $3.00 bag you buy in a grocery store with shredded carrots and iceberg lettuce (only type of lettuce they used) sans the red cabbage. The dressing tasted bad. Basically, $8.00 thrown in the garbage. Now, to the pizza. We love the pizza here!!! We've been coming here for close to 18 years and I've never been disappointed with the pizza. I know there are new owners, and she's very nice (we spoke to her on a previous visit). I really hope that they either change the menu to reflect what is actually being served and correct prices or that they actually give you the food that you ordered. A friend told me about this place and I am glad he did. My kids and I decided to try it before the movies. I was told to try the regular cheese pizza so that's what we got. Probably the best pizza I've had in a very long time. We were seated by the waitress, who seemed a little cold at first but quickly warmed up. She was awesome. She suggested beers and I got the mango beer. Soooo good. She was very friendly with me and my teenage boys. Very cool old fashioned pizza joint. Reminds me of when I was a kid. I ate there for dinner last night, and I'm still full! This is a good restaurant with great pizza, huge portions and low prices. Not much seating inside, maybe 10 tables max, and an entire side of the restaurant devoted to takeout. Inside is decorated with greenery with LED colored lights throughout it, chianti bottles hanging off the ceiling in clusters that look like they've been there forever (some have, people wrote their name and the date on them) What drew me to this place, they have fried ravioli, which is difficult to find. We ordered an order of friend ravioli, the family special and an eggplant parm sub. Yes way to much food for just 4 people, but I really had my heart set on eggplant, and was willing to go with just the family special, but then they told me they made their own eggplant. First up, fried ravioli. These were in the $6 range, and I thought there would be maybe 5 ravioli. Nope, an entire basket of them! Served with a tasty marinara sauce for dunking. They were cheese filled, and I think had a little bit of jalapeno in them. They were good, not greasy, I wasn't expecting the spiciness but it was good. The family special is a deal for 4 consisting of salad or soup, garlic bread, spaghetti and a huge cheese pizza for a little less than $30. The salad was iceberg, some croutons and a slice of tomato. It was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Spaghetti, we were each brought a plateful, I didn't touch mine so have it to eat today, and for the heck of it, weighed it. Its 13 ounces of spaghetti and sauce! You had your choice of meat or marinara. Everyone liked the spaghetti. and the accompanying garlic bread. Then they bring out the giant pizza. Excellent crust, crunchy on the outside, cherwy inside, nice flavor. Toppings were all fresh including mushrooms. One of the best pizzas I've had in California. The eggplant sub. It was I think $6.50, I figured it would be small. nope I thought wrong. A large sub roll that had been nicely toasted and was full, and I mean full of eggplant parm. It had a good flavor and you could taste the eggplant, but the sauce was a little on the sweet side. It was so large, I ate the first half, then had to just eat the eggplant out of the second half. Service was good, they kept our drinks refilled at all times. Its not a speedy place to get out of, because they make everything. Definitely will be back to check out the rest of the entrees and for more pizza. read more

Terrible service, terrible food. Maybe they were just having an off night. This was my first time there. I won't return. Had the Chicken Parm with a salad. I had to take a picture of the salad because it was so comical. I didn't tell them to hold anything on the salad, that is how they brought it out. It wasn't a salad, it was a piece if iceberg lettuce. Our waitress was either really tired or on something. She filled out waters up, but only halfway for some reason. Best pizza in Simi! My wife and I order from Palermo any time we get a pizza craving. The Cesar salad is very tasty as well. We haven't tried anything else on the menu but I'm sure it's all delicious. Their pizza is just how I like it: large thin slices with toppings covering the entire pie. If you get a large, you'll have enough pizza for a couple days as their pies are very big. The staff is always friendly and fast with their orders. We were so sad that they were closed for several days recently. We found out it was because they were getting leaks in their roof fixed. We were going through Palermo withdrawals at that point so we had to drive over there the first chance we got! If you're bummed that they don't deliver, trust me, it's worth getting in your car and driving there for a pizza. We do it all the time. read more
