Wow wow I visited El Sabor De Mexico on my last day and it made me want to stay much longer! I had a paleta de fresa (hay opciones para crema o agua- elegí crema). It was so creamy, fresh, full of real strawberry flavor and I was so happy with my choice! I also bought a mangonada which was equally incredible! It was fresh, sweet and very flavorful. They have so many options of paletas, agua frescas and more- you'll want to keep coming back to try more things (I know I do!). At the register I ended up buying a packet of gorditas de nata and they were incredibly fluffy, sweet and just a perfect treat (I've had a hard time finding them in WA). I personally tried a couple of flavors, but there is something different about Mexican ice cream and "American" ice cream that throws me off. So instead, I ordered an esquite since there was a sign that these were now available but this was very very runny. The corn tasted fine, but not quite an esquite, there was not much mayo, and while there were jalapeños for some spice, I would have liked the red chili that comes on these savory snacks. Maybe next time they will have perfected the esquite. The space has a couple of tables so might be a cool spot to hang out in the area. The two girls working were nice though. They do accept card, but just know that there is a little fee if the items you purchase are under $10. (I don't remember what the fee was). read more

This place is amazing. We walked by exactly when I craved ice cream. It was perfect. The service was perfect, the ice cream was perfect. My first time trying elote corn ice cream - so yumm. Rice with milk was extremely tasty, creamy but not too rich. Rum with raisins was my favorite. The cone was perfectly flavored and crunchy. Came here one night after getting tacos because I was craving ice cream. They have so many different flavors and it's all pretty cheap! Some were very strange to me, as they had corn flavor, cheese flavor, and others I was too afraid to try! The one I got was delicious, although I don't remember what it was called :( (it was written in Spanish) The place was not very busy when I was there as it was a bit rainy and cold outside. The place has a lot of ice cream and other dessert choices! They have random flavors that you won't find in the stores or ice cream shops. First the lady was nice. That was the only pleasant experience. Now, I ordered 3 chicken tamales $2.50 each. She put them in the microwave. The under side was hard. I ordered the Oreo parfait. It was $5 and made of mousse and a table spoon of cake. The corn in a cup was $5 had more mayo than corn. The 12 oz Jarrito was $5 as well. I dined in didn't get not one napkin and no restroom. i guess i walked in with expectation of some fancy local ethnic icecream place on this hot 94 degree Chicago day with the whole family in tow. I had been here once before but since I didn't live in the area I had not come back until now and trust me this is going to be my place to come from now on, we just recently moved back to the area and the only other paleteria we had been too was La Michoacana on Blue Island but it is always packed and I think it's overrated and over priced but then again that's just me... So this time we had agua fresca de sandia, cheese fries, nieve de arroz con leche, nieve de cajeta and a nieve de limón so everything was sooo good but the ice cream OMG!!!! Stopped by while riding our bikes through Pilsen last weekend. I had a paleta de cajeta and my partner got a scoop of coffee ice cream in a waffle come. Service was good and so were our treats. The ice cream was not too sweet and the cajeta flavor was rich and mellow. We saw many families come through and leave happy with all kinda of snacks from ice cream to mangoneadas (a spicy, sour, sweet mango drink) to your classic takis and hot cheese. I had a torta and requested a lot of things off of it and when I got it back and it was wrong they said I didn't tell them what I wanted off that therefore they couldn't remake it but, they did end up remaking it and it was still wrong..I ate it anyways and picked off what I didn't want but, the chicken was very dry and flavorless the only good thing on there was the cheese. I would probably not go back here again. The only thing I will say was good was the fruit water. I should've gotten ice cream and maybe I would consider going back here again. read more

Perfect place if your in mood for paleta..They have EVERY kind. They also have tons of other goodies on the menu. My favorite is the yogurt. They put all the fruit in it mix it and add toppings. I go there AT LEAST TWICE a week for this. The small is 3.50 and it looks like a medium so the price is right. Only thing I don't like is they have a minimum of $7 to use credit card. Most of the time I don't buy more then my yogurt. I had to buy extra in order to use my card cause I had no cash. But I will still go there with my 3.50 for the yogurt every week. I really enjoyed coming to this place to get my green juice and others. I love the Chile con mango. The variety in this place is insane they even have avocado ice cream tequila ice cream I tried mostly all and I'm not so much of a sherbet person but the bubble gum is pretty good. This place is spacious enough to eat in nice and cool in there on hot days and warm in the cold days, it's been there for a while, their cheese fries with jalapeños are the bomb their flaming hot Cheeto with cheese yummy. I brought a group of kids and they were extremely accommodating, sharing their many dairy-free options for the child with allergies (water-based ice cream which was great in addition to popsicles which the kids liked less). Had some gelato here with a group of friends after having lunch at El Jibarito. I thought it was super cute and awesome that the paletas are all hand made and the flavors are all hand written on the popsicle sticks. My friends said the paletas were all delicious and the sorbet was also supposedly delicious. The gelato was amazing as well. I had been wanting to explore Pilsen for quite some time and this place was on my list. For one, it's a very chill environment and I'd love to go back here and just sit down in the summertime. I love all their flavors (they have quite a few). I'm picky about paletas (I'm Mexican, I grew up eating homemade ones and they were very good)...so trust me when I say these are tasty. I also loved the service...there were some flavors I had never tried before and the lady was very nice about letting me sample/explaining the tastes and giving her recommendations. That definitely set a tone for me in terms of service. Definitely go here if you want to try new flavors and leave your comfort zone! And even if you like to stick to your comfort zone they offer small cups (which allow for one scoop I'd say) for $1.50, not a bad price for encouraging you to venture out. I like more sour types so I got the mango with chile, but I also got to sample the mamey and it was quite flavorful.
