Never disappoints . I got my mom a banana split and I also ordered three mini funnel cakes for myself and kids . Everything was delicious, service was quick and friendly.

Yum! So sad I didn't get a better picture of my dessert. This place is so cute! There are a ton of yummy options, and the hours are great! We went at 5pm on a Sunday and the line was deep. But the wait was so worth it. I got the churro sundae. My kids got scoops of ice cream, a fried pop-tart, and an orange crush sundae. The prices are also worth the trip. The sundaes were ~$6. Definitely taking another trip to the Sugar Shack next time we're in Chicago.

I love the premise of this place. It is a confectionery desert lovers dream. There are many snack option or combination of options available. I was sold after seeing the pics of funnel cakes topped with sweet treats sundae style. This is a small stand with window service only, so I parked on the street and walked up to place my order. The snack was ready in a couple of minutes after paying and I took it back to the car to eat. I was a little underwhelmed. The funnel cake sundae didn't hit as hard as I expected it to. I don't know why, maybe it was just the combination I chose. The funnel cake was topped with oreos, vanilla ice cream, caramel, and whipped cream with a cherry on top. I was happy trying this out, but it wasn't fantastic enough to bring me back again. However, the Sugar Shack is worth visiting once for a creative sugary treat.

I found this place during the summer. I ordered the mini funnel cake and the funnel cake fingers. I really like that everything is customizable. The ice cream you can have scooped or soft serve. There are so many flavors to choose from and toppings. I went in December and by my surprise they were still open. I like that I can have ice cream in the winter season. The service was fast both times. You wait outside but that was okay with me.

I was not expecting this to be a literal shack, but surely am not going to fault them for that (and the lack of seating - there is none) when it's in the name! General Notes: It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. There is street parking right in front. You can in fact pay with card. Other reviews make it sound like they're seasonal & close at the end of October, so you'd better go before then! Food: The Banana Split sure was tasty! We got Vanilla, Oreo, and Cookie Dough as our 3 flavors. Included was also whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and 2 toppings. We selected Nutella and Cinnamon Toast Crunch (cereal) which honestly went so well with it. I would be inclined to come back for the Funnel Cake Sundaes! Service: We interacted with multiple of the staff, both of whom were friendly Cost: Pretty reasonable

LOVED THIS PLACE! parking along the side streets, amazing portion sizes, and just great options!! been here a few times and each time just solidifies this place's reputation as a true sugar shack. Their menu is extensive and affordable! They are open all year long which is super nice as someone with an ice cream sweet tooth even in winter. They do prefer cash but take card with an added surcharge. Food comes out super quick but keep in mind there isn't anywhere to eat outside or inside since it is literally a shack. Definitely a togo only place but their food more than makes up for it!

Menu. And a cash-only spot but so worth it!

This is a delicious summer time spot for an ice cream fix. Sugar Shack is a counter service only destination for carry out orders of tasty treats. Don't let the long line scare you. It moves pretty quickly. The strawberry cheesecake and Nana's banana bread ice creams are an amazing combination. If I have to be honest, I was a little envious of other customers leaving with containers full of funnel cake topped with a mountain of ice cream, whipped cream, etc.

Look, if I could inhale this whole menu I would? Service is decent enough considering how small it is and how busy they usually are. Forgive my photo of the avalanche bc it was 100 degrees out and I was eating it so it wouldn't melt... but their ice cream/Italian ice combo is undefeated. And both of them are fire by themselves. PLEASE get the pop tart and get extra powdered sugar. Also funnel cake fries are it's a cool lil pop up mom and pops vibe there.

Bring CASH because this place is CASH ONLY! I came here with a friend and ordered the big funnel cake sundae with strawberry cheesecake ice cream and I had strawberries and bananas as toppings. It was huge and I could have ordered the mini. The ice cream was sooooo good. The funnel cake was a little over cooked and crunch in certain parts, but as a whole the dessert was a 9/10. Next time I would not top the funnel cake with a specialty ice cream and instead do a simple soft serve... I'm sure that would be tasty. I also really liked the strawberry topping which added sweet but tangy flavor. The line was long and there's no seating. You'll have to find a place to eat your treats, but their menu is extensive and their staff and service was nice and quick.

Sugar shack has a lot of great offerings, but they're funnel cake sundaes are the most popular. It's cash only and you order at the window. Girls working there were nice and got our order out very quickly. They're funnel cake sundaes come with the funnel cake, vanilla soft serve ice cream with a sauce and a topping, and whipped cream & and cherry. They offer a mini and regular size. We got the regular size and chose caramel sauce and Oreo cookies. Unfortunately, I never got a cherry. Was very disappointed..lol. The funnel cake tasted fresh, and I've never been a big fan of soft served, but it rated great with the funnel cake. They put plenty of caramel sauce and didn't skimp on the Oreo cookies. Everything tasted great and they even offer Italian ice! Will definitely be returning!

There are tons of people ordering at the counter as well as a line outside the door. They were really busy and I think they might've needed a few more workers. Orders were piling in from the kiosk as well as the counter. We ended up ordering the Ube taiyaki fish as well as an Ube ice cream soft serve in a cup. Man, I remember last time I came here. I got the Ube Matcha float and my friend got the Matcha milk tea with tapioca and those two desserts didn't seem like too much, however, this time when I came, these desserts are a lot. I kind of wish we'd ordered just one of them, but we live like we're rich #yolo. I think the Ube is the best Ubisoft server ever had in my life as it's not overly sweet, but is incredibly creamy and rich meaning they probably made it with whole milk. The taiyaki was warm when he first had gotten it, but the ice cream has started to melt inside and now it's become slightly gooey mess. This is our exact conversation while eating the taiyaki. " Fish bread, sweet ice cream. I don't know they made it hot. so sweet. Oh no it's exploding-that's why I got in a cup. It's melting I'm getting more ice cream next time. Yeah it's amazing. Both came out in pretty quick time even though it was a busy Saturday evening. Loved the cream soufflé! It was something different that I wanted to try and it wasn't too sweet which was amazing. The soufflé was so fluffy and hot and fresh. The cream inside was sooo good! Everything was well balanced together and the float was also great. Only downside is that it's a really small place. So inside felt very cramped and crowded.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.
