Yum. I live in the neighborhood and have always been meaning to come here. Busy on a Saturday night but staff moved people through well. Goat cheese cashew caramel was absolutely delicious, as was the espresso chip and the malted vanilla pretzel. Highly recommend!!

Mint Cookie Pint / birthday cake

My Too Good To Go journey led me to Black Dog Gelato. They are constantly offering items so I decided to snag a bag. I got a cookie, a blondie, and two small cups of gelato (cherry and pistachio). I decided to indulge in a two scoop selection of birthday cake and mint. It was delightful. If I ever need a sweet treat and I'm near by I'll definitely consider stopping in again. There are a few seats and the menu is posted on the wall so it's easy to read. The cashier was extremely helpful and able to get me the bag fairly quickly. They were very pleasant.

If you're looking for some quality gelato, Black Dog should be your destination. This is my go-to shop for a cold, sweet treat. They usually have a line that can spill out the door, but it moves quickly. The staff are friendly and always willing to give you a sample of whichever flavor draws your attention. It's a small shop with a modest gelato cooler, but it doesn't need endless options when it nails each flavor they offer. Quality over quantity. Also, recommend getting a waffle cone as theirs are fantastic.

Regular 2 scoops - chocolate and Italian cookie

While visiting Chicago, I dropped by here to grab a sweet treat. The gelato was delicious and VERY rich in flavor! The regular actually felt like too much to eat because of how rich the flavors were, I ate it all anyway hahaha. I really liked the neighborhood the store is in. There's a little seating inside and a couple of tables outside. It's a nice place to sit and chill on a warm summer day. Also love that when I posted about this place on my Instagram story, my swiftie friends noticed the name

Ambiance - clean gelato shop that also sells jarred toppings from other small businesses Service - staff was friendly and helpful Food - they had a total of 5 flavors, went there on a Friday night and they only had dairy free flavors, hoping to come back to try more flavors!

Fun gelato spot, quick service with free tastings. Free fenced seating area on the side.

Delicious and busy - a deadly combination because God knows I will wait in line as long as is required to be able to get something this good. So much variety in the flavors - which was really refreshing, as I know a lot of ice cream places can get monotonous/repetitive with what they serve. The Italian Cookie was bomb - and just look at my photos and you'll see how perfect the texture of all of these flavors were. Staff was patient as I just had to try like 5 different flavors or so, and overall walked away having had a great experience. Walkable from my sisters place which was much appreciated too and in a cute neighborhood-y area!

Cute shop with a great mix of traditional and very unique flavors to appeal to everyone -- think your standard chocolate, vanilla, mint cookie, and espresso chip, alongside seasonal/rotating options like sweet corn and cantaloupe sorbet (try the sweet corn!). I went with Cap'n Crunch cookie dough and it didn't disappoint. They have a cute little outdoor seating area, or you can walk along Damen through the neighborhood and enjoy your gelato. The staff was very friendly and efficient too!

Update! Goat Cheese Cashew Caramel is insane! That could possibly be the best gelato I've ever had in my life. But still... Italy? That flavor is so unique and creamy! Also tried salted peanut & strawberry balsamic. This place is onto something. I dig it. Enjoy!

Black Dog Gelato stands out as one of the best places to go for a sweet treat in the Wicker Park/Ukranian Village area. Their flavor combinations are fun and inventive- for example, their Goat Cheese Cashew Caramel is a creamy classic. They also have a variety of dairy free options that taste very similar to the real deal. Service is always great, the staff are nice and seem like they genuinely enjoy working there (I would too if it means I'm surrounded by delicious Gelato). It's a hole in the wall spot with limited seating inside, so be sure to take your Gelato on the go. While some may say the price is a little steep for your portion, I think the taste and the quality of the Gelato well make up for it.

The Dairy Free Lemon Passionfruit

Gelato is just as popular as ice cream around here. If looking for the best this is one of the original places. Black Dog Gelato has been here and done that as far as frozen desserts. Prices are high because of course they are so fuck it. Try some anyway because it's some cool stuff. Because it was hot I needed to cool off so I stopped in. It's about $6 for a regular cup, which is a lot. That's as in the price, but they fit a lot in the cup as well. Lots of flavors to choose from. Some non dairy, and I got the Dairy Free Lemon Passionfruit. Cool flavors. This was both sour and sweet. Could have gotten more but it's expensive. That's the only bad thing about it. Head to the Ukrainian Village one because the other closed. It's all good except for the prices. The cool thing is there's non dairy choices, and you can get to go pints if you want some for later, and per ounce it's more value.

Black dog gelato was pretty ok! Ours melted pretty quickly but it could've just been the Chicago heat. My favorite was the Italian cookie gelato. There's no indoor seating so that's something to keep in mind but the location near other Ukrainian village restaurants is pretty ideal if you want to grab desert here

Small ice cream shop with home made ice creams. Have interesting flavors on rotation (like olive oil which was surprisingly good). They have gluten free options too. No sitting inside but bunch of tables/benches outside

Ask the Community - Black Dog Gelato

What are the prices like?

Small sizes start at about $4 and up. You can get day old pints at a discount, however.

How's the parking?

Not bad! It's street parking but I always find a spot pretty quickly on Iowa.

There was a line but fortunately the wait wasn't long and I saw a table open up just after I ordered. Food arrived quickly. I got the mango snowcloud and it was huge! It's definitely around a 2 or 3 people's serving size. Lushious cubes of ripe mangos sprinkled with mango popping boba surrounded the mountain of soft, pillowy, creamy, mango milk ice, which was topped with mango ice cream, further drizzled with mango sauce. It was decadent and refreshing, so tasty yet not overwhelmingly sweet. The flavors were so good!!! Highly recommend this and would be back to try other items on their menu.

We walked into a casual and modern space that works well for stopping by after a meal or meeting up with friends for something sweet. The interior is bright and clean, with a relaxed energy that makes it easy to settle in for a dessert without feeling rushed. The menu has a wide range of options, from shaved ice and mango sago to cakes and other fruit desserts, making it easy to find something depending on your mood. The mango mille crepe cake is one of the highlights and a great representation of what the shop does well. We ordered a slice and found the cake made with thin layers of crepe stacked together with cream and fresh mango, creating a texture that feels light while still being satisfying. The layers are soft and delicate, and the mango adds a bright fruitiness that keeps the dessert from feeling overly heavy or too sweet. The balance between the creamy layers and the fresh mango flavor made it feel more refreshing than a traditional cake, especially with the mango being ripe and fragrant. It was also one of the better choices for sharing, as the slice was generous enough to pass around the table. Beyond the mille crepe cake, the menu has plenty of variety with options like mango shaved ice, mango sticky rice, and fruit-based drinks. We appreciated that the desserts are presented carefully, making the experience feel more like a sit-down dessert stop rather than just grabbing something quick. The shaved ice was light and fluffy, with a good amount of mango and toppings that added texture without overwhelming the base. The fruit-based drinks were also refreshing and served as a nice palate cleanser between the richer desserts. The shop can get busy, especially after dinner hours, but the line usually moves along at a steady pace. The staff handled the flow efficiently, and the turnover was fast enough that even with a small wait, we were seated quickly. The seating area is comfortable, and the energy of the room stays lively without becoming too loud. Mango Mango Dessert is a solid Chinatown dessert destination if you are looking for fruit-forward sweets with a lighter, refreshing style. The mango mille crepe cake is a must-try for first visits and one of the items that best captures the appeal of the menu, offering a dessert that feels both visually appealing and satisfying to eat.

I wish I was able to travel with one of their cheesecakes but they require refrigeration. Anyhow the cheesecake itself was delicious super light, fluffy, and honestly felt like biting into a cloud. I had the salted egg but they had several flavor options that I would've loved to try if slices were available. The texture is what really stands out, and the flavor was unique and interesting in a good way. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it taste like, but it was sweet, but not too sweet They only sale but I consider a personal size but it's definitely enough to share with two people, maybe even three depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have. My only downside like others is the price. Paying around $19-$20 for a small cheesecake felt a bit steep, especially since they don't offer slices. I really wish they had smaller portions available so you could try different flavors without committing to a full cake prize. They package it very well and they also serve you a cute little fork set and a knife for cutting which I think is contributes to the price. The shop itself is very cute with chic décor and a lot of Asian-inspired artwork, which adds to the overall vibe. Customer service was friendly. When I visit Chicago again I'd definitely go back the texture and taste alone make it worth it but I do hope they consider offering smaller portions in the future.

We arrive, place is closed, will open in 10 mins. Perfect, we go to a near by shop and I spot some demon hunter Stanley cups!! I get them of course! We head to lunch, everything is great! As we are heading out, my partners sister spots Te'amo! I ask if she's ever had mochi donuts. She hasn't, so of course we must stop in because everyone needs to try them at least once!!! We order at the kiask and patiently wait for our order. We get our order and leave....leaving the bag with the Stanley's behind!!! We don't realize this until we are home (45 mins away)! I immediately call, no answer, call again, no answer. I decide to DM their instagram page and guess what??? THEY HAD THE CUPS!!! Here I was thinking $150 in cups were gone. But they had them!!!
