The wine flights were what initially caught my attention, especially since my mom doesn't drink much. It seemed like a great way to sample a variety of wines without it being overwhelming. We were warmly welcomed by Taylor, who made our visit even more enjoyable. She was incredibly friendly, took the time to explain the menu, and walked us through the wines we selected, making us feel comfortable and never rushed. We also ordered the charcuterie board, and it exceeded our expectations. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and it was surprisingly filling for the two of us. Between the welcoming service, delicious food, and relaxed atmosphere, this ended up being one of our favorite stops in Santa Barbara. My partner and I recently visited this wine tasting establishment and while the venue itself is beautiful and the live music created a great atmosphere, our overall experience was unfortunately very disappointing due to poor service and presentation. We had a series of issues from the start. Our assigned waiter was completely inattentive; he ignored our table, failed to check on us, and never brought the cheese board we ordered. We eventually had to flag down another member of the staff just to get any service at all. Even after we caught his attention, our server seemed aware of us but made no effort to approach or assist. Additionally, the wait time for our wine flights was excessively long. When the cheese board finally arrived, I was shocked to find that all three cheeses were served still inside their original plastic wrappers--not even sliced. To make matters worse, we were provided with plastic knives to cut the cheese ourselves, which was incredibly difficult and frustrating. I have never encountered a cheese board served this way at any establishment. I really wanted to enjoy this visit, and I want to give credit to the other waitresses who were working that day--they were great and were the only saving grace of the experience. Booked this place on a Wednesday at 4pm. Place is pretty cute and had a nice large outdoor space. Being our first time here, the service was just ok and very bare minimum. Our server didn't really seem to care about giving us a good experience. He was nice but just blah. He was just way too chill and didn't really give us a rundown of their wines or what he recommends. He kinda just memorized the lines on the menu but didn't offer any additional info. Got the vibe that management and training was poor. He didn't come to check on us at all and any time we wanted to order an additional glass of wine, we had to seek him out at the bar. Also their wine tasting flight didn't match. One of the options had 6 tastings but showed up with only 5? We ordered a cheese and meets board and the cheeses were whole and still wrapped in plastic. The meats were literally pulled out from the packaging and just plopped onto the board. No effort to make it look decent. On top of that it came with plastic knives to slice the cheeses which made it difficult and just annoying. Overall experience was just ok but for $40 tasting, better off just grabbing yourself your own wine and drinking somewhere outside. Nothing special about this place or experience at all. Kinda disappointing. Would not recommend this place. I'm sure there are better wine tastings in the area. read more

The servers were all very welcoming and friendly; never felt pressured or rushed into ordering (or leaving). They're also attentive to make sure we have everything we need. Wine selections are great; we suggest starting with their frozen red wines then a bottle of wine to your liking. Both times we went, they ran out of food which was disappointing. However, they did say it's ok to order takeouts to drink and eat there. We do wish that they have more than one restroom though, because the line can get very long sometimes. Full disclosure. I once wrote an article on Pali Wine when they first got started many years ago and have become a fan ever since. They have excellent Pinots and interesting white blends. They expanded since then, but haven't lost their quality. In Santa Barbara's Funk Zone, they have a lovely spot to sample wines, hang out in their lovely patio with a single glass, and listen to music at times. We did a Rhone style wine sampler, with 2 whites and 3 reds-- all were very nice. I also sampled some excellent red blends. Our host was super nice and helpful. You can also order some snacks. Worst experience at Pali in the Funk Zone. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. They gave us our wine and never came back. We were interested in ordering snacks from the menu and I had to go to the bar to ask our server who was sitting with her feet up talking to her friend. She barely acknowledged me and then said they only had popcorn. I asked for water and she rudely pointed me in the direction of the water fountain. You can self-fill a carafe that barely serves four people. Mind you there was no one else there but at least four people working. I had to go to the counter to pay when we were ready to leave. Stopped here for a quick glass of wine, and it was a great spot. The outdoor patio is very open and has plenty of space, and there was even live music when we went which was fun. They have a pretty extensive wine list and each wine was around $15 a 6 oz pour, which is pretty typical pricing. I ordered the "Market Price" 2022 orange wine and although it wasn't very orange in color, it definitely had the classic flavor of an orange wine, and I really enjoyed it. My friend ordered the "Harvest Moon" 2022 white wine blend, which is similar to a vinho verde. This wine was very refreshing and light which we also loved. I wish the servers explained the notes of the wine or just gave us more information prior to us ordering our drinks, but next time I might order a flight to get that experience. My second ever wine tasting experience was at Pali Wine Co. and it was delightful! The server was very knowledgeable and had a great memory (she remembered 3 custom flights without a notepad, which is always a risk!) I knew I wanted whites and roses, so we built our own flight with a mix and you get a wine glass that you pour the flight pours into. So, if you're not feeling a certain wine, you could also get a pour bucket so you can move on if you wish. Yes the plastic container like we were eating a lunch-able in school. I would recommend to put the cheese and crackers on a plate, not served it in the container. It minimizes the overall experience. Vibes here are immaculate. Perfect for an early evening glass of wine before dinner, which is exactly what we did. Good music playing but not too loud. I love places like this where you can actually have a conversation without music blaring in your ears. This place is beautifully decorated and great atmosphere in the outdoor seating area. All wine seems to be made by in-house Pali. We each ordered a glass of rosé which came perfectly chilled and delicious. Service was a little slow, which is why it loses one star, but very friendly. It's always a blast coming back to visit my alma mater and getting to see how the funk zone is changing. It's great to see Pali Wines in their larger spot and of course still pouring delicious wines. I opted for the "Fade into Autumn" tasting experience because it included a white, rose, and red wines but you could also snag some bottles and enjoy it at the smaller bar area or their larger outdoor seating area.
