I've been wanting to stop in and try Pali Wine for quite some time. We found ourselves in Santa Barbara on New Year's Eve and we decided to stop in for a glass of bubbly. Taylor and Joe were both so helpful and let us try anything we would like. We bought a beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir from 2021. I follow a girl that is married to the owners daughter and it's been so fun to see the journey of this wine company up until now. They have got a nice selection of natural and regular wines. The inside of the wine garden was beautiful. We sat at a large table and explored the wine flights. 3 of us went with the fresh wines and 1 went with the estate flight. The flights came out with cute detailed menus. The wines were pretty good overall and for the first time I could taste the different flavors. Never really been able to do that. The white blend was so good I bought a bottle! read more

I was meeting up with a friend in the Funk Zone and we decided to grab a glass of wine. I had been wanting to try Pali Wine Co so we decided to go there! We were seated right away in the outdoor patio. After a moment, the waiter came over with some menus. Both my friend and I opted to get a wine slushee! It came out very quickly and we quickly got to enjoying it. It was very delicious. Fruity, sweety, and very cold which was perfect on this warm day. Once we were ready to pay we went to the cash register and were quickly helped. The ambiance of Pali was perfect to enjoy a drink, kick back, and chat with a friend. As we were leaving, we saw a band setting up! We unfortunately missed the performance but it definitely would've been fun to watch. Wow!!! Wow!! What an incredible experience! First time in Santa Barbra and we decided to come on over to Pali wine for celebrate to my cousin's bday and this was a great choice. We've been here for 2 times and loved it both times. We enjoyed both indoor and outdoor. My daughter loved their live music and ambience, always look around the place fascinating. The servers were all very welcoming and friendly; never felt pressured or rushed into ordering (or leaving). They're also attentive to make sure we have everything we need. Wine selections are great; we suggest starting with their frozen red wines then a bottle of wine to your liking. Both times we went, they ran out of food which was disappointing. However, they did say it's ok to order takeouts to drink and eat there. We do wish that they have more than one restroom though, because the line can get very long sometimes. Other than that, great experience overall. read more

I loved the ambiance of this wine bar. It was such a cute stop in the wine trail, it has a pretty big outdoor area with a lot of tables and live music when we went on the weekend. Service was overall pretty attentive and quick. I wish they had a food menu. I saw a lot of dogs so definitely pet friendly. read more

Full disclosure. I once wrote an article on Pali Wine when they first got started many years ago and have become a fan ever since. They have excellent Pinots and interesting white blends. They expanded since then, but haven't lost their quality. In Santa Barbara's Funk Zone, they have a lovely spot to sample wines, hang out in their lovely patio with a single glass, and listen to music at times. We did a Rhone style wine sampler, with 2 whites and 3 reds-- all were very nice. I also sampled some excellent red blends. Our host was super nice and helpful. You can also order some snacks. This is a fun spot to hang out while you're walking around the Funk Zone. read more

If you are in a group of 6 or more, each person has to pay a minimum amount. They will not accommodate someone not paying if they are sober. A big group of girlfriends and I tried to go but they insisted that my sober friend pay the minimum too even thought she would not be drinking which was very off putting. read more

Stopped by with some friends that wanted to try the wine flights. While I'm not a big wine drinker, I thought the slushy was pretty tasty. Based on the reactions of the people I was with, the other wine here was pretty tasty, too! Our server was knowledgeable of the wines available and made sure everyone got something to fit their flavor profile. With ample outdoor (covered) seating, room at the bar, and a friendly staff, stop by if you have the chance! read more

Amazing spot! The outdoor patio space is just so beautiful, it would make such a great wedding reception or event venue. Our group of 10 shared a few bottles of rosé, frosés of each flavor (these were a hit), and some popcorn and olives. Since they don't have many food options, our server mentioned we could order from Lucky Penny Pizza nearby and eat it here. Which is exactly what we did and it was perfect. We raved all weekend about how much we loved it here. You must go! read more

Chill winery with nice ambiance in the middle of the funk zone. Was easy to order up front and find some nice seating. Flights were heavy on the Pinot noir spectrum, but I was not mad because they were all delicious. Wish I had time to bring home a bottle! read more

Definitely worth visiting when you're in Santa Barbara! It is noted to be one of the top few places in the winery website! The service here is really great as well as they explain to you which flight is best for your pallet! I definitely recommend sitting outside as you can enjoy the nice Santa Barbara breeze and the greenery! I went with the neighborhood winery flight which has all the natural wines and everything is so light and airy one thing I would know as any winery places they have very limited food selection and as to note, they are also very overpriced. read more

I was able to book a reservation for a bachelorette party here for 9 people whcih was ideal since a lot of the other wineries around here don't take reservations. Our servers were attentive and they have an extensive list of regular wine and then also wine flights. The don't have food but have smaller bites like hummus and pita chips. They have a variety of wine that everyone will like and this is the perfect place for a warm summer day. Get the frose if they have it- so good!! read more

Place is so cute! It was pretty busy when we went. Majority of seating is outside but we were lucky & there were openings inside which we preferred bc of the AC lol. There was a live band when we went & it really set the ambiance. We got the frose & a flight - drinks were really good & it was hot outside so the frose was perfect! We wished they offered food or small snacks but there are tons of restaurants around which was nice. read more

Our favorite wine tasting stop in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone. The patio was light, white, and bright! And the awning kept out the heat of the sun while we relaxed and sipped our wine tasting. We got the Neighborhood Winery Flight, which is all natural wine, (pictured, $30), and the staff led us through how to do the tasting, and gave us a card that described each wine. We also got the hummus - which seemed to be homemade. It was garlicy and delicious. We were also thrilled that the patio is dog friendly! A great stop. We will be back. read more

Worst experience at Pali in the Funk Zone. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. They gave us our wine and never came back. We were interested in ordering snacks from the menu and I had to go to the bar to ask our server who was sitting with her feet up talking to her friend. She barely acknowledged me and then said they only had popcorn. I asked for water and she rudely pointed me in the direction of the water fountain. You can self-fill a carafe that barely serves four people. Mind you there was no one else there but at least four people working. I had to go to the counter to pay when we were ready to leave. Overall it's a gorgeous location with live music but there are a lot of other great locations nearby. read more

Stopped here for a quick glass of wine, and it was a great spot. The outdoor patio is very open and has plenty of space, and there was even live music when we went which was fun. They have a pretty extensive wine list and each wine was around $15 a 6 oz pour, which is pretty typical pricing. I ordered the "Market Price" 2022 orange wine and although it wasn't very orange in color, it definitely had the classic flavor of an orange wine, and I really enjoyed it. My friend ordered the "Harvest Moon" 2022 white wine blend, which is similar to a vinho verde. This wine was very refreshing and light which we also loved. I wish the servers explained the notes of the wine or just gave us more information prior to us ordering our drinks, but next time I might order a flight to get that experience. Definitely a good place to spend an afternoon with a glass of wine in the funk zone. read more

My second ever wine tasting experience was at Pali Wine Co. and it was delightful! The server was very knowledgeable and had a great memory (she remembered 3 custom flights without a notepad, which is always a risk!) I knew I wanted whites and roses, so we built our own flight with a mix and you get a wine glass that you pour the flight pours into. So, if you're not feeling a certain wine, you could also get a pour bucket so you can move on if you wish. There are no non-alcoholic beverages (for our DD), but the server was very nice and built a little drink for that friend with seltzer and a little juice. We also asked about the food, but it seemed not quite worth it for the price. Overall, we had a great experience and felt really comfortable- happy to return! read more

This was probably the cutest place we went to on our little wine tour! I mean.... The string lights, little bistro tables, cute little wine glasses! And on a hot day, it was really refreshing to have a glass of frose! There was also some non-alcoholic options and some snacks too, although we did not try it. Santa Barbara for the day so you know we have to do a little wine tasting. We found Pali Wine Co. a cute place close to State street. We got two different flights served on this cute wooden board with 5 wines. Love it. Not a wine drinker so I did not favor the wines that much. But it was a nice experience. We ordered the hummus but they were out for the day so we ordered a cheese and cracker appetizer. To our surprise when we got it, it came out in the package they purchased in. Yes the plastic container like we were eating a lunch-able in school. I would recommend to put the cheese and crackers on a plate, not served it in the container. It minimizes the overall experience. The server was nice however not very personable. Usually when you go wine tasting they let you know about the wines. Vibes here are immaculate. Perfect for an early evening glass of wine before dinner, which is exactly what we did. Good music playing but not too loud. I love places like this where you can actually have a conversation without music blaring in your ears. This place is beautifully decorated and great atmosphere in the outdoor seating area. All wine seems to be made by in-house Pali. We each ordered a glass of rosé which came perfectly chilled and delicious. Service was a little slow, which is why it loses one star, but very friendly. We didn't get any appetizers/snacks but it seemed to be a great selection. Would definitely come back with my beautiful lady for another glass, or two, and hopefully soon. read more

It's always a blast coming back to visit my alma mater and getting to see how the funk zone is changing. It's great to see Pali Wines in their larger spot and of course still pouring delicious wines. I opted for the "Fade into Autumn" tasting experience because it included a white, rose, and red wines but you could also snag some bottles and enjoy it at the smaller bar area or their larger outdoor seating area. I genuinely loved all the wines I tried! I was able to sample their natural wines which was a little different than what I'm used to but still very delicious. If you buy 2 bottles, the tasting experience is waived! Can't wait to return! read more

Palatable wine, but taste is very bland. Service was just so so. Too bad, because it's in the heart of the awesome Funk Zone in SB. I'm in need of handicap parking, which they have, but I was asked to move my car because it was "private property." I'd arrived early and wanted to hit a couple shops before I met up with a dear friend to wine taste. I should have taken the time to explain that but the women who shooed me off was just so catty and her rude tone when asking me to move my car (my disabled parking pass hung visibly) was just too much. I won't return, as there are so many other great wineries to choose from with better ambiance and nicer more welcoming staff. Boo Pali Wine Co, you suck. read more

Bad wine (the chilled red was disgusting), even worse service (we sat outside waiting forever and the staff were inside doing zero - when I asked about wine, she has no clue about anything beyond the words on the menu). Great live music. Very skippable option in the funk zone. read more

This is a great wine tasting room in the Funk Zone. The patio is really cute, and the indoor is tastefully decorated. Our server Amelia was very nice, attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I enjoyed the wines themselves and the overall experience. Actually, so much so that I added them to my menagerie of wine memberships (I gotta have enough of them to satisfy my desired weekly tasting amount hahaha). I went through two of their tasting options in order to get a wide idea of what they offer. Flight 1: Keep it classy tasting - Chenin Blanc was enjoyable and light. Would be good for sitting in the sun or bringing to the beach. - Tower 15 2021 Viognier was delicious and I added it to my wine order. Great rendition of this type of white (though is rare I find a Viognier that I don't enjoy). - Chapel Chardonnay is very heavy and buttery with that oak barrel flavor. Usually I do not like this style Chardonnay, as I prefer steel barrel and crisp, yet I bought 2 bottles of this one and would recommend it even to people who don't like Chardonnay. - PCH Rose would be great in warm weather or with a light appetizer. I enjoyed this one more than the Play Ball Rose listed in flight 2. - Pali Vineyard Pinot Reserve is pretty yummy and relatively light for a Pinot. If the Pinot of tried from this region I enjoyed this one. I do find Cali pinot tends to be much lighter than a southern Oregon Pinot, my favorite region for Pinot. - Neighborhood Jetty Red Blend was okay, not my personal favorite, though I wouldn't turn a glass away. In my terms 'okay' is a step below 'like' - Merlot being another wine I usually don't really enjoy, this one was fantastic. I've been back multiple times just for a glass of this Merlot. It's only the second one I've found in this region that I've truly thought was amazing (excluding Merlot blends). Flight 2: Natural tasting - Natty Chardonnay is my usual style that I prefer with that crisp steel taste and very little buttery flavor. Would totally love this with fish, fruit, or just sitting out on a boat. - Neighborhood 2022 Harvest Moon White Blend was enjoyable with a sharp, acidic, and crisp taste to it. Light bodied but delicious with flavors that were long lasting. - Play Ball Rose was not my favorite for a Rose. It was refreshing and would likely be enjoyed by folks who really seek out that Rose taste. I've only recently found one I would pay for a glass of so my view of Rose is pretty picky. - 2022 Orange Wine Dawn I really loved. Would be a good one to match with fish, Seafood, fruit or cheese. Would also be good as a day drinking or brunch wine. This is one I'd bring to a party or recommend to someone who isn't as familiar with wine varieties. - Natty Pinot I found this one to be very light with no body or depth to its flavors. Personally I like very bold, dark, and heavy Pinot, so that is a personal preference. - Neighborhood 2021 Full Moon definitely enjoyed this one with its dark and deep flavor. A much heavier red than some of their others and a variety of flavors layered in it. read more

We came for a birthday celebration, with no reservation & were sat immediately. The wine was mediocre at best, but unfortunately we were pretty let down by the quality of it. The service was okay, but not great. There was only one girl who was very attentive, we didn't get her name but she came at least twice to check on us, while our main waitress kind of forgot about us. It seemed they prioritize tables with reservations a lot more than just a walk in. The setting was nice & the live music artist was very talented. But we don't think we'll be back here. The prices are very high compared to many other places & the experience overall was very disappointing. read more

Our tasting room in the heart of the Santa Barbara's Funk Zone is features our award winning California wines, friendly staff, light snacks, and weekly musical performances. We are located just blocks away from the beach and offer tasting flights that showcase our handcrafted wines sourced from California's Central Coast. Our menu features eight wines on tap, kegged directly from winery barrels and served fresh. We offer wines by the glass, carafe, and bottle. Wines can be enjoyed at our bar or on our beautiful outdoor patio with crushed granite underfoot, comfortable casual seating, and sparkling string lights. Customers can also purchase our wines to take home or purchase a wine growler that is refillable at any of our locations. Don't forget to ask our team about our wine club!

It was chilly so she tried to light the heat lamp at my request but both that one and the replacement did not work. The replacement actually had the propane disconnected so I assume someone knew that tank needed to be changed out but didn't do it. The other tables from the large party were full of wine glasses and a half eaten pizza. Those sat there for over an hour, and we watched several groups of people come but leave without being seated because no server was available yo seat them and the only open table hadn't been cleared. When it was finally cleared, one guest at a near by table commented that the pizza shouldn't go to waste. The girl who cleared the table initially carried it inside but came right back out with it and served it to that guest whose kid ate it. I'm all for not wasting food and if the guest had gotten up and grabbed the pizza himself, that would be one thing... but to serve old food that had been sitting out for a long time to a guest is a no no for a business. We otherwise enjoyed most of the wines in our tasting flight. Would've given 5 stars if service had been more timely, tables cleared and old food not served up.

And that is just ONE example of remarks she made to my friend and I. She also talked down on a stutter that I have, just inappropriate!! The manager or owner (not sure which roll he played exactly) seemed to have been drinking because while he was defending his out of line staff, he yelled "I'm not even supposed to be here, I should be out golfing!" As if that was my fault. Overall, this was a horrible experience and a major disappointment from a place I used to genuinely enjoy and recommend to friends. It is unfortunate that what was once a great spot is now associated with such poor treatment and lack of professionalism.
