When I travel on business, we're supposed to go through our corporate travel office which I always figured got the best rates for airfare and such. I don't like using them for personal travel, though, so I would always do that myself and search online and sign up for deal newsletters to help me. Recently I had a few personal trips I needed to take and I had been told about Idyllwild so I thought I'd give them a try. I will now never go back to booking myself! Joanna at Idyllwild was amazing in how she was so professional and thorough in making sure she knew exactly what I was looking for and what my budget was, and then coming through. Not only did she save me a lot of money but just as important, she saved me a lot of time! She got some amazing hotel rates and even called the airlines personally to negotiate the best rates and had all the details worked out so I didn't have to worry or even think! I believe the agency's main business is corporate travel or group trips so I'm sure they do an equally great job with that, but all I know is that the past few times they've booked me, I've been really impressed and would recommend Joanna and Idyllwild to anyone!.

Losing confidence in our travel agent we were forced to confirm pick up and arrival times of every excursion we had booked. This was very time consuming and stressful. No one was there. No sign. No instructions. No communication. We walked the airport asking staff and drivers using the company names we were given and no one recognized them. The "emergency" phone number provided was useless. No one answered. The hotel tried to help and eventually told us to take a taxi. We only found our shuttle because a random tour guide took pity on us and located it on the opposite side of the airport with no signage. Only then did we learn the shuttle company was Mapa a name never disclosed to us. At the hotel, we discovered our reservation was under another completely different company name ("Rida"). None of this was communicated in advance. All bookings were placed under my name alone, even though all four travelers paid separately. Because of this incompetence, we spent the entire trip anxious that our prepaid tours and even our return airport transfer might not happen. This level of disorganization is unacceptable, especially for international travel and late-night arrivals. Dubai itself was amazing, but this company turned the start of our trip into a confusing and unsafe situation. I strongly recommend booking elsewhere.

5+ Short story:…read moreAnthony got the Brazil tourist visa in 3 business days, in my passport, delivered to my home. Words alone cannot express how grateful I am, and the amount of stress that was relieved. Read on if you are interested in the long version, this will be really helpful for anyone in a similar situation: 7 business days before my flight is set to leave for Brazil I randomly find out that there is a visa required for US citizens traveling to Brazil. This is clearly my own fault for not checking into this, nonetheless, after doing some research online I found out it is a common occurrence. I could not change my flight because I was attending a wedding and had to leave on a particular date in order to arrive to the event on time. Making the situation worse is that the Brazil consulate in Los Angeles has a great reputation for being difficult, especially with US citizens that need a visa in a hurry . . . The consulate could not give me an appointment in a timely matter to obtain the visa. They DO NOT offer rush or expedited visa services. I went to the consulate anyway (against their advice) and went to one of the windows asking for help. When they found out I came in without an appointment they pretty much chased me out of there and wanted to know how I could not follow directions. Terrible. We are now 5 business days before my flight leaves to Brazil. I could not get an appointment at the consulate and they were completely unhelpful. I did some research online and found out that you can obtain a tourist visa through private "expediters". Basically, these are companies/persons that have built connections inside various consulates - Los Angeles, San Fran, Chicago, New York, etc. - and for an additional fee they will rush the visa, via their connections. There are two visa expediters working in the same building as the Brazilian consulate in Los Angeles. I chose 123brazilvisa. When I first went in to Anthony's office I was hesitant to use the service, but I was desperate. I explained to him my situation and asked if he could obtain the Visa for me within 5 business days. He asked me to sit down and wait a few minutes while he made a series of text messages. He received an answer back from a connection in New York and he said we could have the visa in 4 business days. ?! really ?! He took the consulate application, photocopies of drivers license and itinerary, my passport and fees. He seemed very honest and thorough, I left the office. I texted Anthony twice in the next few days and he always responded quickly and asking me to be patient. In 3 business days my passport came via Fedex priority envelope from the New York Brazilian consulate, delivered to my front door. I am still in awe at this incredible service. I have lots of thoughts and expletives that I could share about the Brazilian consulate in Los Angeles and their incredible inefficiency and poor service. Anyhow here are the fees that I paid: 1) Travel expenses and loss of work for one day travel to Los Angeles to take care of visa 2) $160 money order to the Brazilian Consulate 3) $345 to 123brazilvisa for "super" expedite fee The fee for Anthony's service is less if he has more time to work. All of this can be handled through the mail/fedex if you have time, no need to travel to LA to take care of this.
