Yesterday was the perfect time to make a trip to the Palm and Press Bistro Food Truck. The weather was nice and cool for a change. So we could sit and wait at the outdoor seating for our sandwiches. The owner was there and pleasant as usual. The Food Truck is open 7 days a week with slightly different hours on weekends, The location seems permanent, located in a fenced in area with an opening at the order counter. Inside the fenced area are a few tables and chairs where one can wait on their order or even eat in nice weather. They have a high tech notification system which texts you when you order, when your order is ready & a thank you and receipt after you pick up the order. They have fabulous Cuban sandwiches. At an earlier visit I had what was described as a half sandwich. The thought came to mind that if this was a half, I couldn't imagine the size of a whole. It was time for learn. The whole Cuban sandwich was huge. It was dinner for two nights in a row. Half was perfect with a salad and fruit. And it was absolutely delicious. The truck is located on the north side of Lynnhaven Parkway midway between its intersection with Holland Road and S Independence. If you haven't tried Palm and Press it's a "must do."

Super glad we tried out this Cuban food truck! The service was friendly and quick. Loved how the food truck was in a great spot with a ton of parking and fenced off with seating available while waiting on food. I got the pan con Bistec which was a really good size and very filling. The beef empanada paired well with the sauce. And the croqueta was gone too fast. Only disappointment was not getting to try the Queso Frito! I saw it in was in the menu but was too full. Will have to come back for it!

Found this gem across from our church. Chicken and pizza empanadas were good and the dipping sauce. Will be ordering again.

You truly get what you pay for and more. I had the sweet chili lamb chops, Cajun cream pasta with chicken, oxtail empanada, and jerk chicken empanada, and I was blown away by the flavor in every bite. The lamb chops were cooked to absolute perfection--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sweet chili sauce gave them such a unique and delicious twist. The Cajun cream pasta was rich, creamy, and packed with immense flavor. And the empanadas? Just impeccable. Perfectly crisp, packed with filling, and paired with sauces that elevated them even more. Everything I tried was a hit, and I can't recommend this spot enough. If you're looking for incredible food with bold flavors and generous portions, Issa's is the place to go! We have two little ones, and they are always so gracious and accommodating. Second, the food is 10000000/10! Wow talk about flavor! Our family's favorite go-to's are the ground beef and cheese empanadas, the kids pabellon, and our ALL time favorite is the arepa llanera fried. WOW!!! So my picky toddler LOVES the food here! Their rice and beans are cooked to perfection and my son who doesn't eat a ton of meat, will eat the shredded beef here! Our favorite thing about the arepa is the sauce they put on the steak with the freshness of the cheese and creaminess of the avocado with the tomato. omg my mouth is watering as I'm typing! We seriously LOVE it here! Those are my recommendations!

The service and atmosphere are great and they have outdoor dining also. Definitely a must-try if you're in the area. And if you're in the mood for some libations, they have a full bar too. Great find, and definitely worth a stop.

They quickly moved us to a larger table when our party of 5 turned into 8 because of surprise guests! It was a long overdue reunion. A few of us were craving the Pastelon, since we are fans of sweet plantains, but sadly, they didn't have it available that evening. However, our kind server said we could order mofongo with the sweet plantains, so we decided to give it a try. We chose the steak strips and fried pork versions. Everything was delicious! We always enjoy the variety of the menu. Plus, the expanded dining room spaces make the restaurant very welcoming. Our party of 8 was treated well, and we all enjoyed our meals!

Since we were in the area and wanted to grab a small bite to eat, we decided to stop in. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and the restaurant smelled amazing, so we couldn't wait to grab a drink and order our favorites. We decided to sit at the bar, so we were given menus to look over and the bartender was very nice. I ordered the Spicy Passionfruit Margarita and my daughter ordered the Rican Rum Punch. Both were good but I enjoyed the Margarita much better! Since we weren't very hungry, we chose our favorites which were the Arroz con Gandules and the Relleno de Papa, which is a mashed potato ball filled with savory, ground beef. The food was flavorful and absolutely delicious! They also have a pink sauce, which is a ketchup/mayo mix, but it always pairs so well with the food. Everything was so good, we put in another order of both to take home lol. De Rican Chef never disappoints! After all these years, their food still tastes just as good as it did the first time we went! If you're looking for great, Puerto Rican food, definitely stop in!!!

So on a Thursday evening l picked up 2 combo specials from Capicu. It was Buy one get one free. Each combo was 22 dollars. On my way to pick up i got a call stating that they were out of the chicken (totally understandable since it was close to closing time ) So I opted for the beef empanadas. I appreciate the customer service of them calling me before I got there and giving me different options. Upon arrival I was uncomfortable with the smell. Not sure if it was old oil and grease but it was pleasant. I received my food (which was so plentiful when I checked in the car.) However , the smell of the food , was as if the oil that it was prepared with was old. Not pleasant at all. Smelled up my entire car. Finally home to taste the peril was just okay 4/10 it tasted old and like it in fact had been prepared or reheated with dirty oil. The sides and empanadas were not bad. 7/10

Empanadas, sandwiches and other finger foods. Keeping it simple for customers. Last weekend, Sophia and I drove from the Peninsula to see if the hype was legit. Walking inside, we were greeted by one of the sisters who was featured on the segment. They had a few tables where you can sit or you can order takeout. It was very clean with decor on the walls and music from the 70s to the 90s was playing throughout. Very calm during our visit. Let me use my three favorite Yelp words to describe the food: pretty damn good. For apps, we order beef empanadas. Pretty nice size and cooked perfectly. The beef and veggies were well seasoned. Their chimichurri sauce that you can add definitely brought extra flavor. Nothing overpowering at all. For our meal (and takeout), we both chose their chicken milanesa sandwich, which is a popular Argentinian dish. They were pretty big and hearty. From the thinly sliced chicken to the amount of veggies, everything worked pretty well. This trip was truly worth it. Catching local diamonds in the rough like Tango Bites is one hobby I love. Then, the waiting... and waiting... and waiting... 45 minutes later (and we were 3rd in line to order), we finally got our food (they definitely need to prep ahead of time for the anticipated lines). It was NOT worth the wait and we were really disappointed. For $10 each, we got a ton of plain basmati rice, some black beans, the most tasteless, dry chicken, a little shredded lettuce and a couple of grape tomatoes.
