I love Palm Beach Tan, but the Milwaukee location specifically. They have the high intensity 14 min bed that I love. I'm only up to 8 minutes to us far, but I'm slowly working toward getting the full 14 minutes, without burning. That is why I am taking it very slowly. I go in that bed and then directly to the spray tan. I do the medium color. I used to add different tones to it, but have found that I really don't need to. There is an employee named Gigi who was very, very rude (Burnette Monday evening). I would hope I just caught her on a bad day, but she projected an awful attitude for someone working in customer service. It's also very unprofessional to have a guy friend--or even a girlfriend--hanging around while customers are waiting for beds. Even when beds became available, she continued chatting instead of helping customers. I work bedside at Kaiser, so it was very convenient to stop by between or after shifts. I've been coming to this location for close to a decade, but I will definitely be canceling my membership or finding another location. read more

I come in 20-30 minutes before closing sine that's the only time after work I can come and I have to wait in huge lines to use the spray tan. And by the time it's my turn to check in, I'm told there isn't enough time for me to tan. Even tho I came in before the place was closed. It's like if I was to go to subway and just because the line is long to get food, once it hits 5 minutes before closing they tell me they can't serve me. Doesn't make sense. It's not like I went in 5 mins before closing. I worked at service industry places before and we served everyone that came in before closing even if it went over time. Just extremely inconvenienced, and wasted time and gas. If I was told ahead of time before waiting in line I could've spent my time finding a place without huge lines to tan. read more

Great tanning packages at great prices. I just wanted the old fashioned lay down beds, nothing fancy. For a $25 fee plus 14.95 a month they offered unlimited tanning. That's great pricing! I had my first tan today. It was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The salespeople were great at suggesting products. Only downside is, there are no appointments- it's all walk-in and there are only two beds that can be used for that package so you may have to wait a while, which is not cool. read more

I've been a member with Palm Beach Tan for a little over a year now. I was referred by a friend and I have to say I'm happy I've been coming here. The Staff is friendly and quick to get me into the spray booth. Only one incidence so far where the wait was pretty long so the gal up front included some add ons for me and apologized for the delay. That was a surprise and she was really sweet and prompt to get me in. Thanks! This Location is convenient. Pretty busy area within the Plaza. Clean throughout as far as I can tell. I have had a account for many many years here I pay a monthly fee I went in to Tan and they told me I had a balance $36 that's not a lot of money but the reason for the balance is because they said I hadn't paid the last couple months and they also added a charge each month I was willing to pay for the months that they say I didn't pay and when they asked me to show the card on file, it turned out they had the expiration date in wrong which is why my payments didn't go through still the people there refused to remove my late fees and I personally just saying it was horrible customer service. read more

The staff at a PBT can make or break a location; and the staff here have always been friendly/cheerful without being fake, are helpful without being pushy and remember you. I wish they had a standup platinum or diamond bed, but there's always something open and I've never had to wait long. I used to go to the location on SE 82nd simply because it was so close. Loved it. That location closed down. So then the nearest location became this one. Don't love it. I used to hand the person my ID to check-in on 82nd, but that only works 1 out of every 4 times at Sunnyside. On 82nd, they knew the bed I was using and how long. At Sunnyside they only knew that half the time. But the final straw that lead to this review is the fact that I "paused" my membership back in Nov 22, was told this was better than cancelling my membership then starting up again later. Was told it'd only be a one-time cost $8 to pause it then come back when I was ready. WRONG. Turns out I've been getting charged $8 every month and will continue to get charged in perpetuity for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Its not about the $8, its about being lied to and the idea of a business being so gross that they nickel & dime customers at every turn as a business model. Its just gross. So I've called the Sunnyside location 3 separate times to cancel my membership, each time a different day, no one answers the phone. I can already tell I'll have to drive all the way there and cancel in person. Was planning on starting back up in April but will definitely not be at a PBT. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and really have noticed the quality of service deteriorating. I waited for 10 minutes to check in and watched the woman ahead of me with a Gold membership offered a Platinum bed because the Gold ones were full. When I got up next, finally, after waiting for the employee to clean 2 beds (very quickly might I add which is why the place is dirty like another person mentioned) I was told that the Diamond bed was occupied (which had been since I entered since I could see if from the line) and someone else was already waiting. I was offered a Gold bed because now the Platinum beds were full. So the person ahead of me who pays less a month than I do gets upgraded, and I get down graded 2 levels??? That's just not acceptable. I didn't have time to wait another 20 minutes just to get into the bed I pay for so I left irritated at the wasted trip. This isn't the first time the employees haven't dealt well when they get busy. It would be easy to ask the people in line what beds they are waiting for and assign beds or let them know a wait time. Don't make them wait for ages and then let them know the bed isn't even available. read more

My experience at Suns up wellness and spa has always been a positive one. Each time I enter the facility, I am greeted kindly and promptly. I used the natural spray tan service before a concert and it gave me such a pretty, bronze glow color. I also thoroughly enjoy their VIP UV tanning bed. I was really excited to sign up to tan, so I could get some color before summer. Well, I signed up with a friend and all was well; we didn't sign any waivers and were never shown any membership agreement sheets, but ok. Not a huge deal. I convinced another friend to try palm beach even though she told me she had a bad experience. I thought this location was nice enough. Friend went and tried to sign up on the cheapest membership today and she said that whoever was helping her refused to give her the price and was really pushing her towards a higher costing membership. Ok I get it, I used to work at a tanning salon. Sales are important. What is not okay, is making someone feel so put off by your sales tactics that they just leave altogether. On another note, I went tanning yesterday and was put in room 6. Once I got in the bed, I realized that the top was completely dirty. There were so many lotions smudged I don't think anyone even tried to clean it. Alright, I was already in the bed so I was just going to tell the girl on my way out. Unfortunately she wasn't there, so I was unable to let her know. Today, I go in to tan and I was put in room 6 again and it was STILL just as dirty. I even took my finger and made sure that it was lotion. Like I said, I used to work at a tanning salon so I know how a clean bed looks. I walked out and told the girl that the bed was dirty from YESTERDAY. I will not be going back to this location. read more

LINDSEY always treats me like shit! I've been a member for a couple years now and every single time she's there, she rolls her eyes at me, gives me attitude, and today she tried to tell me I only have a $10 credit on my account when two other employees said I have $35 on my account (which expires in 30 days). I don't know what her problem is but she always puts me in such a horrible mood. I've been waiting for her to lose the attitude for almost a year now and I cannot take it!!! SHES HORRIBLE. Alexa however is the BEST. Her personal service is always amazing and she puts in effort to get to know her clients as people. Please hire more women like her and give Alexa a raise. Staff are not professional, unable to resolve simple circumstances, poor customer service. Waist of time, never managers on shift, front desks service slow and seems like they definitely are not trained to do their job and every time you try to resolve nothing gets resolved. The staff here is very rude. I had some clarifying questions when it came to products and account rewards and they acted like it was a bother to help me. It also took me 20+ minutes for me to get in for a spray tan, when the girl told me it would be a 5 minute wait, and when I asked why it was so long she got defensive with me. If you live in the Portland area, I recommend the Bridgeport one or the one in Milwaukee. Their staff are always super helpful. Don't go here. My wife and I froze our account during the winter as we have done many times before. Long story short, they didn't end up freezing the account and we were charged for over a year. Trying to get the issue resolved we spoke with numerous people who continually blew us off and didn't return our calls until finally we spoke with the owner who only refunded a couple months. I was a member at suns up about 7 years ago and just wanted to get in a few tans for my birthday, but of course, I always get talked into this good deals! The employees at this location are super nice, and really easy to talk too! Tyler and Shree (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) have me such good customer service! Even talked me into getting a better lotion at a higher price point! They were not pushy, unlike other tanning salons! EVERY TIME that I come in, they don't have product available. When I do a cocktail (tan and spray), they always put other customers and employees in the spray booth, even knowing that there's someone going into it in a minute. The girls will continue to gossip, rather than help clean the beds and make you wait until they're done gossiping as that's their priority. The manager included in these things. Since palm beach has taken over what used to be "bask in the sun tanning", it's been a huge disappointment with customer service, product availability, wait times etc. read more

I called the customer service line for the Portland region yesterday before typing my original review. I was attempting to allow them to make this situation right before posting a bad review. So No, I will not be sending them an email to provide them with my information for the second time. I WILL however make sure my friends, family and social media contacts know how poorly I was treated. I must say after this lack of follow up from the regional level I can see why the service is so poor at the store level. I guess they are just so big and lucrative that they don't need to provide good customer service. I wish I could give this salon 0 stars. The customer service has gone downhill in the last month or so. The gals that work up front are great but the new "salon manager" as she describes herself is awful. In the middle of May I went into the salon 3 times to tan. Every time I was in the Diamond Bed was down. I went in the last week in May and the "salon manager" informed me that they are waiting on a new bed and it should be in in the next two weeks. I said that was exciting but what would happen to my monthly payment as this bed as been essential out of service for almost a month. I told her that I that it did make much sense to charge me for the most expensive bed when it has been out of service for so long. She informed me that it was costing the salon a ton of money to replace the bed. I told her at that point as the customer that was not my concern. She told me I could go use another salon if I wanted to tan in a Diamond Bed. I told her to look at my account and she will see I have never used another salon at any point of my membership. I was so taken back by her lack of customer service or professionalism that I cancelled my membership on the spot. The next time I went I asked about the rewards I had on my account. She informed me that I did not have any. I said that was odd because I did last time I asked about them. I just need new googles so I just went ahead a purchased. She tried to give me a run around response that made zero sense. I then told her I didn't want to speak with her as I had dealt with her the weekend before and her lack of customer service skills were less then impressive. As I came out of my tanning bed I asked for her name. She then told me she was "the salon manager". I let her know that I was not impressed with her service or title, and congrats to her". The old manager they had use to be so great. Not sure why they would take such as step back with this power hungry gal. I sure hope her negative attitude does not spill over to the other girls who are always so amazing. Glad my membership is now over and I will not give another dollar to this salon. read more

I've been to two PBTs - Clackamas (Happy Valley) and Oregon City. They're both great! The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and personable. The beds are clean and in great shape.
