I have been coming to SunsUp for over 2 years now and I absolutely love it. I go to both locations on Sunnyside and 82nd depending on which is closer when I'm out and about. The staff at both locations are always so knowledgeable and kind. I got a breast augmentation a year ago and because of red light therapy I have virtually no scars. It has also improved my mood and skin in so many ways. I recently had a bout of rosacea that was healed with red light therapy and tanning as well. I couldn't recommend them more. read more

I've been a member for a year. I'd love to give them a good review - however I've had enough issues that it's not deserved Pros. Yes they have suntanning options and detox options Cons. 1. There customer service sucks 2. They hire young people that have no idea what customer service means 3. I've experienced everything from TV not working, to their system down, to closing early and not telling their customers (none of this is my problem) 4. They have no awareness that time is money and keeping people waiting is not an answer, figuring a way to compensate is far more effective 5. If they didn't have their equipment - I'd see no reason to be a customer here. It would be nice if the owner actually did an audit and asked their ongoing customers how they really felt. All the employees are so friendly, sweet and helpful. They always greet you as soon as you walk through the door, ask how your days going and visit while checking you in and make sure to say goodbye. They make you feel they appreciate your business by going out of their way to make you feel like a friend. It's always extremely clean and the beds are amazing, clearly change bulbs regularly. I never thought it was necessary to spend the extra money on upgrading beds but after using The super VIP bed which gave me great color after only a couple tans. The bronzing bed was absolutely incredible, instant golden brown tan after 1 session! I've never been in a bed that could even come close to the bronzing bed results! I highly recommend this location! We planned on signing up for a month to prepare our skin for a vacation then cancel our memberships but we've thoroughly enjoyed the staff and beds so we decided to continue our memberships! read more

I've been through sooo many tanning salon, I even had a membership at SunsUp 4 years ago and cancelled because of rude, pushy staff. I must say- this place has changed for the better. The beds always look clean and the staff is always smiling and not trying to constantly push new products on you! I love this "wellness center" approach they have taken. They say you get "free tanning" and pay for the "wellness points" but really it's more like you pay the monthly tanning fee you alway have and now they throw in a detox of some sort! I am so happy to be able to come back and do my Red Light therapy- for help building my immune system and pain relief. I feel like they're practicing so many safety precautions- I love the the fact that they're wearing gloves and masks for cleaning it shows how dedicated they are to cleanliness. And My Vitamin D levels we're getting low I definitely needed my tanning. Plus research shows people with higher Vitamin D levels are less likely to contract Covid-19 and if they do the symptoms are very mild.. Georgia is the star here. It's unfortunate that there is way too much turnover, it really hurts the business. I have seen a new person every time I've been in this place and I tan or spray a few time a week...no one stays and I wonder why. Their business model is very weird unless you are interested in red light or led lipo and sitting in a sauna type bed for an hour for a fat cell shrink (go to the gym and you will see better and real results). I love the tan beds and spray tanning but am forced to go a competitor because you cannot just tan and spray tan for one price (and not pay extra for all the add ins that are not needed)...it makes no sense. The worst service ever. I have been trying to cancel my account for months. They have charged me and refuse to give me a refund. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I was a loyal customer for 10+ years. Left the area during covid 19 and was unable to cancel in person. No one has returned my calls from corporate for months. Finally received a call back said they emailed me a cancellation form - still haven't received it- and will not charge me any further but refuse to refund 4 months. So discussed. Amazing informative staff! I have never had a bad experience here. The red light therapy has helped heal my acne scars, fibromyalgia pain, and appendectomy scars. So I can't even tan with the month I just paid for AGAIN & I paid another $50 for this upcoming month and now I'm ripped off (AGAIN) because of the complaint I made! Sharon from corporate (which by the way IS IN HERE WRITING REVIEWS 2 MONTHS SHOP ACTING LIKE A CUSTOMER LOL SAD) even went as far as to say the associate had to call security on me because of my language, Umm 1st of all.. I have been a regular for months now and believe me I have been to many many tanning salons! The worst for me is islands tanning cuz they sell group on to get people in the salon and then pressure people to buy expensive non needed products and make you feel like a broke jerk for not buying anything! Other places have old machines or out dated equipment or not enough equipment and way too busy! Thus location and the Johnson Creek where Nicole manages (she used to be at happy valley) is the best! Their customer service is beyond compare! What business does the employees offer you and save you bottles of expensive lotion they receive as employees and give you free! And new or long time employee I have never ever been treated badly or ignored! The staff is never pushy about selling products! They of course mention what is new and good to use but come on if they do they get called pushy and if they don't they get the bad customer service rep! I am a strong minded woman and won take S.... And I guarantee you that the other negative yelpers are taking something personal! I have to say. This place has AMAZING customer service. I had canceled my membership here about 4 months ago. Mainly because I wasn't using the services like I was before, not an issue with service. So I called to see how much it would cost for a spray tan, this was in May. They told me it was buy one get one free and you get a free spray tan bottle also! I was down, BUT I let Nadia know I wasn't going to be able to use is by June 20th. I have my engagement photos coming up in a few days. I went in today. Asked so nicely if they could extend it just by a few days so that I could get my first tan and two days later my next tan. And their customer service manager was able to accommodate it! I thanked them a lot! I really appreciate the personal touch they always provide! Like they understand and care. I am someone who loves their services. SunsUp might be the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. Our experience with them started with purchasing a LivingSocial coupon to get a jump start on a tan for our upcoming vacation. When we got to the Beaverton store, we were talked into signing up for a contract- the sales girl it would be a better deal for us, that they would apply the full promotional credit, and that we could cancel at any time, which we planned to do prior to leaving for our upcoming cruise. Well, a month or so later and before our planned trip, my Mom passed away and our family had to leave for Georgia in pretty short order. As an only child and executor of her estate, I knew that we would be out of town for 4-6 weeks. As such, we phoned the store to cancel since we didn't have time to get over again after my Mom's passing. At that time, we were informed that we would have to come into the store and cancel. My wife informed them that we were in Georgia and would not be home for over a month or more. The store employee told my wife that they would make an exception given the circumstances and that they would call us if they required anything else. We never heard back, so we assumed everything was cancelled. Well, months later I happened to go online and check our credit card statement- we are on autopay/paperless and had a lot going on, so I didn't make it a point to check it sooner. Well, lo and behold, we had each been charged $99/month for an extra 4 months (2 months were valid, including our original promo credits)...even though we had not stepped foot in their store even once, let alone used the services. I'm talking nearly $800.00 for absolutely nothing. At that point, I phoned their corporate offices and had the occasion to speak with Hanna. She said she could clearly see that we had not used the services over that time and that they would credit our card for the months we were overcharged since cancelling- said it could take up to 15 days for credits to appear. She also told me that they would officially cancel our memberships as of that date, so no additional charges would appear forthcoming. The cancellation did go through. Well, another 3 weeks went by and I checked our online credit card statement and still no credits. So, I called again. This time I spoke with Ruth Ann. I described in detail what had transpired, went over my conversation with Hanna, etc. She said that she would look into it and get back to me in a day or so with an update. 10 days went by with no contact so I started a dispute/investigation with our credit card company. After several weeks SunsUp lied to our credit card company about what had transpired. And even countered that a signed termination contract was mandatory, which it obviously was not as they terminated the contract over the phone per above. At the end of the day, we got taken advantage of in a very sad time. And when it could have been resolved amicably, as the aforementioned corporate reps could clearly see that we did not use the services since that original cancellation date, they refused to do the right thing and credit our account. And ripped us off for months worth of unused services. I would obviously never recommend this company and would advise anyone to be VERY careful when signing one of their contracts and/or buying a Groupon thinking you're getting a good deal. Lest you get more than you bargained for, like we did. In our case, $56 turned into and overcharge of $800 and many times that in hassle. P.S. The personnel at the Nimbus store was actually very nice and helpful,but that in no way makes up for the shady business practices of the corporate office. read more

DO NOT give them a credit card! They will continue to charge it after you cancel. Corporate does not return calls and salon staff are not allowed to make changes to your account. The only way to stop them from charging is to stop payment on the card. UNETHICAL business practices! Do not do business with them. read more

However a year later I've found they've been charging my card without my knowledge and sent me to collections! What?!! Allow clients who checked multiple people behind you to tan and exit and then still don't know why you are waiting in their waiting room. Finally asked if need to do something different to tan. I have visited tanning salons for 20+ years now. This is by far my favorite! It is very clean. I actually happened to be there during one of their inspections and overheard the inspector saying that it is the cleanest tanning salon he has seen. The staff is super friendly and professional. I paid $29.99 a month at the Happy Valley location for 13 or 14 months for tanning. I tanned maybe twice a month. I went in five days ago to cancel my tanning package. The girl behind the counter told me that I would be billed for two more months worth. 60 more days of being billed after I canceled. This is absurd. She tried to tell me that other businesses like gyms have the same policy. I have belonged to various gyms for over 30 years, here in Oregon, as well as San Diego, California. Not once have I encountered such absurdity as this 60 day cancellation policy. I am so upset about this stupid policy. The reason I am writing this review is to warn other people about it.
