Due to the nature of what happened at Spavia in Strongsville, Ohio, my husband does not wish to revisit the details and asked that I write this review on his behalf. At first, the owners/managers of this establishment seemed genuinely concerned. They even asked that he send his experience to them in writing, since he was too upset to express it in person at the time. We were hopeful and did so--almost a month ago--but to date, we've received no reply from them. Regarding, his experience. We had hoped to write an updated, more positive review based on their stated desire to "make it right." Sadly, we cannot. Below is the review sent to the owners/managers about a month ago. Please read on and judge for yourselves. My husband and I had our first visit to Spavia last month in Dublin, Ohio, where he received an outstanding salt stone massage. Since we live in Cleveland, he was looking forward to having a similar experience at the Spavia in Strongsville. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite -- truly awful for him. Based on his provider, Ashley's reviews, it's clear his experience with her, wasn't due to her lack of skill or knowledge, but rather her lack of enthusiasm and unwillingness to perform the service with care. Making his 60 minutes session grueling and very uncomfortable. Far below Spavia's standards. From an excessively long and overly oily scalp effleurage "rub." It could hardly be called a scalp "massage." To the poor use of the stones, it was absolutely apparent that Ashley performed the "whole" service begrudgingly. After spending over $200, including tip, my husband left feeling stressed instead of relaxed. Maybe she was having an off day, but for an establishment like Spavia -- especially at this price point -- the service was totally uncomfortable & unacceptable. To say the least. I'm writing this review on his behalf, as it was such a disappointing and demeaning experience that he prefers not to relive it. To their credit, the managers immediately expressed concern and offered to "make things right." Since he was unable to explain his level of disappointment at that time, the managers advised him to write this review. Which we sincerely appreciate. We only wish the experience itself had reflected the high standard Spavia is known for.

She did recommend the monthly and VIP tanning packages and explained why spending more money would actually save me money in the long run. But, I'm not one who wants to have dark skin like I did when I was younger. I just like the relaxation of tanning and hope it will help control my eczema. Martha never tried to power sell me or push any fancy lotions on me. She respected my wishes and helped me find the best package for my needs. She answered all of my questions and was patient with me, and I got a free tan for my first time! The place is small and the decor leaves something to be desired, and the rooms themselves could use some cheering up, but the facility is clean, the service is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. I've seen a few different girls due to my changing travel schedule, and each one has been terrific. I now see Gabby and she is awesome. I never wait more than 5 minutes and the place is very clean and professional. Jordana is the manager and she has excellent customer service skills and recruits others to be the same. I purchase the Slow It Body Wash and the Glow cream and the after wax gel and I love all of them. If you ever purchase a product that you don't love, the manager stands behind your satisfaction and will make it right. They have regular promotions on services and products and they do a great job. I would not go anywhere else!

My aesthetician was very pleasant and friendly. But the wax didn't go as it usually does. The wax was too hot. The after cream wasn't applied despite my skin being red. She didn't really check with me on any concerns - such as whether the wax was too hot or if I liked my brows. It was very speedy visit without focus on quality. There was no after work on my eyebrows with twizzers whatsoever. As always after European Wax visit I went over the work with twizzers later. No one asked me whether I liked my eyebrows or experience. Their work is always so minimalistic for being experts in waxing. The waiting room was filled upon my arrival. There were five other clients waiting, none looked pleased. At one point there were not enough chairs in the waiting room to accompany all guests. Few guests asked about their appointments running late, multiple were called to inform them about the news (with no definitive time to arrive). Some disgruntled guest called in. From the conversation it was evident that their discount wasn't applied and will not be honored (for a referral). They also were apparently burned during an appointment. One of the clients walked out with clear wax residue on her leg. I've witnessed so many problems in my short time in the lobby that it was overwhelming. Prices went up and were corrected on the menu. The salon posted new rules everywhere. No client looking for higher end-ish experience wants to be surrounded by so many rules and signs. It's not tasteful or relaxing. Here are all the new rules. There are no pictures allowed on their premises including the lobby or rooms. Guests with kids under 8 years of age must take them back to the room during the appointment. I can't even imagine how this works to be honest. There is also a rule that if you're in the bathroom, this time counts against your grace period. So it's possible that you won't be admitted to your appointment even if you're physically at the location. I practically live at different salons and I have never seen anything as strange. I didn't want to read the rules but they were everywhere! I used to like European Wax because it was a quick get in and out, nice place, but it lost its appeal. Too many problems for less than average appointments. As always, I'm not impressed with European Wax. I'd rather go somewhere else next time.
